Hnat Automotive Photography I always thought, that naturally aspirated means that a car doesn't have a Turbo or a Supercharger. Now I realised that I was wrong the whole time xD
JDMSteven you were right till you said nitrous. Naturally aspirated is just no forced induction. Or you can call it All motor. When someone isnt running nos i believe its call "all throttle"
Travis Hall I meant to say you can have nitrous but if you're running NA it means you have nothing on. On the bottle means you're running nitrous and all motor means NA

I like everyone's passion in debating about this car, you all sound like a group of scientist arguing over warp drive. I think we could agree most people would adore the ownership of that Camaro. It's nothing like performance car talk, thumbs up to all of you.
Seems like you guys equated LS motor to forced induction. I love how you guys always do this. Oh less is more! It only has air ride, stroked 383, custom fenders, doors and quarter panels, spoiler and front nose/gril. You guys can be a little pretentious at times. For every one ls swap 1st gen you see, they're probably 20 carbed ones. And who from the internet ever would say don't build this car?
mcfero1 Except a carb is a compromise. I mean I get why people use them, but if someone wants to claim that it's for anything other than nostalgia, familiarity, or to keep the car "pure" then I think they're misguided, as hands down injection will deliver more power, more efficiently.
Beautiful, I like that you reinforced the fact that its about the individuals vision. Every person I have spoken to about my 84 2.5l camaro has said, "put a 350 in it.", but thats not what I want. I want a daily that will stand the test of time and look good doing it.
I met a guy who had a beautiful metallic orange first gen Camaro which is remarkably similar to this build because it too had a 383 stroker with about 500 HP mated to a 6 speed. Also he does autocross and cruises around, its was a clean well done build.
He keeps using it to mean carbureted for some reason. it's really annoying. it's like the other day I watched an MCM vid and a guy who was working the dyno said an rx8 was a two stroke. It's just so unbelievably stupid I can't understand how no one has corrected them yet.
+Boyd UA-cam "rotary animation" they have no stroke man, they revolve around a shaft but don't move up and down in a stroke like a traditional engine. a two stroke is the same as a four stroke but more simplified and with ignition twice as often, it's not a rotary lol.
I'm not a huge fan of the looks of Camaro's, but I like that the owner built HIS car, the way HE wanted to and is very happy with the way HIS car turned out. Forget everyone else, ignore the people mocking you for saying Natural Aspirated when referring to an LS engine because HE didn't want a supercharged LS motor. Huge props.
Like you said Mike. For me, personally, probably the best all-round Camaro I have ever seen. My God it is so purdy :) . Please thank Jeff for building this car :)
This is a great looking ride with no doubt. I have a ls 3 engine in my 63 corvette roadster. probably putting out as my horse power as you , but I get better than 20 mpg on the highway. I didn't have to hack the frame apart to install the ls3 I had to weld a transmission mount to the rear cross member. Front motor mounts were purchased and bolted in place. So I could easily cut the trans mount off and replace the stock engine, One thing you guys over looked in building this car was you could use a nice headliner. But very nice build ...
Awesome to see these builds on your channel! My lady is Ashley and she helped build those badass rides and has been asking every week if the video has been posted!! Cheers!
Why do you refer to Naturally Aspirated engines as engines with carburetor's? LS motors are naturally aspirated, until you throw some turbo or supercharger on it. But the same forced induction can be thrown on the old small block. I'm confused why both guys on this video don't know this. Call it what it is...fuel injection? distributor-less ignition? Ughhhh.. maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think these guys know what they are talking about.
***** I hear ya. There are crate packages with the LS motor and carb setup. Strange that Mike Musto or whatever his name is, being around muscle cars as much as he is, doesn't reconcile the difference.
TheBigMillerTime I 100% thought the same thing. they seem to think fuel injection is somehow forced induction and that a carburated engine is N/A. Very weird for guys that 'seem' to be in the no.
Thank you was thinking the same thing. They both get air by creating a vacuum so it natural draws in air. It is not forced in by a blower or turbo. That would be forced induction.
i think this guy misunderstood about carburetor, fuel injection, and naturally aspirated configuration. carb and fi are fuel system, while naturally aspirated is an engine aspiration which air intake depend on atmospheric pressure, the air 'fill' cylinders naturally. no matter carb or fi as long as no forced induction system/configuration the engine called naturally aspirated.
Beautiful piece of kit. Reminds me what the Eleanor is to a Mustang. Minimalist and stylish and above all, usable daily for the owner to enjoy to the full extend. Ice cool.
This is a nice car; why not just talk about what's nice about it? Noticing a trend in the /Drive videos that's getting to be silly. Why is it necessary to perseverate on what a car is not in comparison to other cars? 500 hp and 500 lb/ft are both great; why does it need to be said that it's somehow better than 1,000 hp? The flares and body work are both tasteful and functional, but I'd never call 100+ hours of skilled, custom body work "keeping it simple." Seems we're getting into "word salad" territory and throwing out misplaced phrases like that and "naturally aspirated." Biggest nit to pick: "Pro-daily" with no windshield wipers? I don't even see the splined shafts for the arms.
Yes but atleast with the wiper "issue" as long as the windshield is treated with rain x or something like that you don't really need wipers hell I have them, but I don't use them even when it's a down poor I don't really need them
Great build, down to earth but unique. I have an old built '69 Camaro block (code HA, same as a DZ block casting) 350/300hp, which I stroked ( long-rod, forged pistons ) back in mid 90's. Has a Winters '67 intake from a Z/28 and I built a custom holley DB 650 main body with 750 base plate, used old valves as a drill bit to match-up the base plate to fit the smaller 650 body. Also still use the old school 461x camel hump head with manley proFlow valves. I have been waiting and shopping for an LS now for about 3yrs so it was great to find this video, although I really like that new Speedtech "Extreme" front clip, wow those huge spindles. It has been a long time but finally someone has remade the front clip of the 1st gen F bodies frame to catch up with the new engine technology. I really have been waiting for that but I will have to sell one of my other '68's to afford as I would have to put a LS in it. I don't drive the collector anyway just a once in a lifetime car, but just not my style to have a car worth so much your afraid to drive it anywhere nowadays.
And he spent over $100k making a lame car. If you want to drive every day then you want the LS Swap, wipers, etc. If you to race, then don't spend a fortune on custom bodywork as it will get crashed. So basically this is an expensive garage queen...
Super cool and mostly understated. The work done doesn't readily hit the eye, especially for the uninitiated. You can tell it's lowered, obviously, well, unless it's pumped up. But only genuine car guys will notice anything else, like the deep dishes and flares.
beautiful car, although I would like to see more episodes of people who build their own cars. Not just high rollers who pay to have their car built. #builtnotbought
This would be considered built. Not everybody is a whiz in the garage. Built not bought would apply if the guy just went out and bought a 2015 Camero top spec (z71?) and put it on bags.
+One_Clean _s13 i paid someone else to build my 500hp DD honda,is that wrong? i dont have the time, or the space to build a car. i work my rear to pay for the parts and everything needed to make it where its at now...... so where does that put me at?im definitely not a high roller, i work in law enforcement communications.. money isnt the greatest.
i was involved in everything but the wrenching,. .. built by my friend for me. we spent countless hours doing research and crunching numbers to finally come up with what i have now. good thing i dont go around bragging about the car, to some its just another turd honda....hehehe
Love your 69! I had to sell mine, just a little 6 cylinder 2 speed 69. After a back injury I couldn't get in and out & it needed work. It was very hard to sell but I couldn't watch it Rust away. It was rough when I bought it. I wish everyday that I still had it! I could have been working on it now!
Dear /drive Could you please do a Big Muscle feature with a solid Car built by an average joe? I'm talking someone who doesn't have a mechanic father or uncle, someone who's not rich, someone who's learned by themselves and worked to build an awesome car without the help of professionals. .. is this even possible? -batmayn707
they featured a charger that was one of the ugliest chargers ever made can't remember what year I think late 70's and he built it himself I'm pretty sure and it looked badass too

I prefer to get build advice and reviews from guys understand cars well enough to know the difference between saying something is naturally aspirated and carbonated.
Less is almost always more. I love to see cars like this that hit the sweet spot between driver and trailer queen. Never build your car to the point you worry about driving it. At the end of the day, your car is for YOU, not anyone else.
Perfection - especially the subtle body work - but the cost all-in, including the starter car? This is most certainly a high-dollar build in my book...though I guess it’s all relative. Thanks for sharing!
SANIC That's exactly what I said. Saying an LS3 will be dated? Pfft. In 30 more years somebody will say "Why swap to a GFY45 when you can go LS3 with direct injection?! It's TIMELESS" lol.
miccheck11 Some people like to keep their car period "correct" and retain the carb. He wasn't bashing it, just stating what he wanted and preferred for his car.
Hey mike you keep saying you're glad he didn't go LS cause an NA small block is cool.....you know just because an engine is fuel injected doesn't make it forced induction; an LS is still NA and a small block. The car is gorgeous and I love the body mods
Drive BigMuscle Mike! as you can tell by my profile photo of your daytona im a huge fan. im wondering if you could ever do a video about what goes into building a pro touring car be it for suspension upgrades and more details about it other than "this car has this engine in it"
Beautiful camaro. My dream classic is a 69 camaro ss/rs with a 396 which I do plan to own hopefully in the future. But I do plan on having mine to be a little more track orientated.
I like the look of it, Nice stances due to the air ride suspension. Nice colour. Love the front end. My version would be close to same but murdered out.
Beautiful car, just because the guy never built it himself doesn't make the car any less beautiful you tube has become so full of whining negative jealous fools that don't have anything good to say about anything.
Guys, guys, guys... Man. You jump on everything. When I say naturally aspirated I'm simply stating the absence of forced induction like a supercharger or turbo. Of course LS engines are naturally aspirated, as are carb'd - don't be so quick to judge. Look deeper. The entire point of this build was to simply build a car that is a jack-of-all-trades and fits the owners needs. With everyone jumping on the LS bandwagon it was nice to see a simple carb'd small block instead of newer fuel injected engine.
Hearing you loud and clear. A carb'd engine has a certain persona, it might need a little finesse to start when cold, or it might not take full throttle from idle.... I guess I just like old muscle cars to feel like old muscle cars.
I really never post, but this video had so much potential, with a great car, ruined by the guy focusing on and defending his choice of engine because he has no clue about how engines work causing him to completely contradict himself over and over. I thought /Drive was better than this.
me too. and no Mike Musto, that LS will never be as dated as a 383 stroker or a big block 123. I'll take my 1st gen LS/T56 swap over this powertrain any day of the week. parts are cheap and they are bulletproof
I'm not hating on it. It looks good but it throws off the entire car for me. It all looks good! Let me make sure I emphasize that more so you understand I'm not taking away anything from the build. It just confuses me when I look at it. lol. Again it's still a gorgeous car. I just get thrown through a loop at first glance. lmao!
"Ignore the internet"
Good advice. I'll start with this video I found on the internet.
It's the opposite of meta.
Anti-meta is always the best strategy.

Perfection - especially the subtle body work - but the cost all-in, including the starter car? This is most certainly a high-dollar build in my book...though I guess it’s all relative. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome car! But c'mon bashing an Ls swap? Talk about low hanging fruit
miccheck11 30 years ago people were bashing SBC swaps.
ESPECIALLY 383s
miccheck11 Agreed, and you can always carb an LS and hide the coils behind the firewall.
DirtyD a 383 isn't period correct.
The speed parts and body kit isn't correct either.
Badass Camaro.
it looks beautiful, sleek lines, great sound
well done..Super clean..Love the 383 v8(good choice)...
Really well put together...one of the best cars you've covered. He has built a timeless classic.
He did a great job on the Camaro and I wish that I had one just like it, no BS.
More of jdm/import guy myself, but a fan of all types. That camaro looks badass!
Thank you for making this video. I learned a lot from it.
Hey mike you keep saying you're glad he didn't go LS cause an NA small block is cool.....you know just because an engine is fuel injected doesn't make it forced induction; an LS is still NA and a small block. The car is gorgeous and I love the body mods
XXTROB No question about that. When I refer to naturally aspirated I simply mean no forced induction, be it a supercharger or turbo.
Drive BigMuscle Mike! as you can tell by my profile photo of your daytona im a huge fan. im wondering if you could ever do a video about what goes into building a pro touring car be it for suspension upgrades and more details about it other than "this car has this engine in it"
Good video. LS swaps are fine for now, but in 10 years might be obsolete. Keep it old school.
Beautiful camaro. My dream classic is a 69 camaro ss/rs with a 396 which I do plan to own hopefully in the future. But I do plan on having mine to be a little more track orientated.
congratulations, that's one badass Camaro.
This Camaro makes Viagra useless. Jesus Christ I just went full CHUB!
Awesome stance!!
3:50 . FOCUSED PIECE . A simple statement that truthfully says everything . Project words to live by .
I like the look of it, Nice stances due to the air ride suspension. Nice colour. Love the front end. My version would be close to same but murdered out.
me thinks he might not know what naturally aspirated means exactly.
Newsflash, fuel injection is still naturally aspirated.
😂😂😂😂😂🤔
very pretty car , nice sounding guy..I hope he enjoys it for the longest time possible !
I'm a Mustang guy, but can't deny how awesome that Camaro is. Looks like something a Vin Diesel would drive in an F&F film
Beautiful car, just because the guy never built it himself doesn't make the car any less beautiful you tube has become so full of whining negative jealous fools that don't have anything good to say about anything.
Lara Robinson screw you....I get sick and tired of big money insiders
That's a pretty negative comment.
The backlash comes from the car speculators that have priced these cars out of reach for most people.
“Naturally aspirated” 😆 Hello you tube I’m a dude with lots of money and can’t tell the difference between a croissant and a crescent wrench
I agree with you 100. Perc. Killer f ing ride. Great job. Love it
Great build!!
I guess I just like old muscle cars to feel like old muscle cars.
this car will make haters comment alot..
The lines on this car are brilliant. What a wheel well. Say that fast five times.
I’m absolutely in love with this car, it couldn’t be more perfect and I’d kill to have that thing
omg, its just so cool, i m going to cry
I really never post, but this video had so much potential, with a great car, ruined by the guy focusing on and defending his choice of engine because he has no clue about how engines work causing him to completely contradict himself over and over. I thought /Drive was better than this.
Six years on from this video and I’m still glad I have an LS in my camaro.
me too. and no Mike Musto, that LS will never be as dated as a 383 stroker or a big block 123. I'll take my 1st gen LS/T56 swap over this powertrain any day of the week. parts are cheap and they are bulletproof
Beautiful look and sound
Only thing bugging me is the grill...looks a bit too mopar to me. Everything else is ok.
nezerac from the thumbnai, I thought that this will be old charger.
Māris Samats
So did i
Well I built the grill and yes, I was inspired by mopar a bit in the grill. I sunk it back like a challenger.
I'm not hating on it. It looks good but it throws off the entire car for me. It all looks good! Let me make sure I emphasize that more so you understand I'm not taking away anything from the build. It just confuses me when I look at it. lol. Again it's still a gorgeous car. I just get thrown through a loop at first glance. lmao!
I cringed every time either of those guys called carb'd engines naturally aspirated. I thought this was a show for car lovers by car lovers.
So badass very nicely and tastefully done! I want one lol
i want to give this man a hug for keeping the carb
