Man I wish we lived in a world where this level of talent got more attention than the Kardashians. I can't imagine how many hours it took to reach this level of mastery but it definitely shows. If you ever play near a Toronto location please let me know. -Cheers.
Amen to that 🙌🏻
Botox Buns sells, as they sold their souls for their fame. People like this violinist play from the heart that was given to all by the spirit in the sky !
Amen!
What are the kardasthings
I made my world this way. It started in the early 60's up to now. It will continue until I go to the next world.
sorry about the bow hairs..this was the finale song of the night so the hairs were slowly shredding more and more up until this point…i really wasn't thinking about it at the moment..just focused on the music
Wow I'm sorry I missed that tune----man you have serious reach. The Funkadelic!
ArtfulDodger M. huge funkadelic and eddie hazel! gotta keep that music alive..too good
You are very cool....!!!!!!
The bow could not handle the magnitude of the funk... and that was part of the art. The hairs became more shredded and frazzled as you became one with The P. I smelled this from four years in the future, and it was glorious.
If you ever present your self in Orlando. I will be there bro.
I’m a very old man and to this day I hear this and think of my own mother and can’t stop the tears.
This is simply the best cover of Maggot Brain that has ever been recorded. Violin, guitar, it doesn't matter. I've never heard anything that captures the original so well while adding so much. Those who were able to witness this person are truly lucky.
Listen to lili Haydns version. It’ll make you cry
Eddie is smiling from heaven right now. This is beautiful brothers
If this planet had a healthier soul, you would be having million of views...
You're a heavy Dude, Dude. This was definitely Soul medicine!
And thats just a fact!
I've only cried over 3 pieces of music before, this being one of them
Uh-Oh, Stinky 🙏🏽❤️
Same on this one! What were your other two?
I've cried to every version G, guitar violin it doesnt matter anymore lol. I feel you
Good to see EDDIE HAZEL honored. What a masterful piece. ❤️🐻🤜🏾
@@ViolinOnFire
Any chance of you going head to head with Lili Haydn?
Maybe even Simon House of Hawkwind fame?
So you played the beginning like you just found out your mother died and you played the end like you found out she was still alive. Just like Eddie Hazel did. Good job. This and your Wicked Games cover are amazing thanks for sharing them.
Jason Brossa i was definitely trying to tell that story, glad someone out there got it..thank you for the comment
@@ViolinOnFire Yet another person I'd love to see you collaborate with or have some kind of "riff off" with is Alina Gingertail from UA-cam.
It is said that George Clinton told him to play it with that emotion, and he did
I just wanted to listen to one of my favorite songs..the "Maggot Brain" and I accidentally saw your video on the right side. A violin tribute to Eddie was interesting to listen to....but I couldn't imagine that a violin could perform this masterpiece in your way...That was unbelievable. Greetings from Greece Sir and keep this quality music alive!
me to....
If you like this version, check out Lili Haydn’s 2011 live version as well. Both are exceptional in their own way.
@@StonebutcherGems Sorry but Patrick blows Lili out of the water.
somebody get this man a new bow. STAT!
I have seen dozens of people do this song on many different instruments. This is by far the most powerful version ever. No one else need ever do this. It is perfect.
🙏🏽 thank you for the kind words
One of the greatest performances on a any musical instrument I have ever seen, you are awesome man.
Im a big MAGGOT BRAIN FAN. bro you blew me away. Thank you
Thank you!
wow im like almost in tears, this i mean you are incredible, like eddie s guitar talks to me your violin is talking too. man eddie is smilin down on you brother, god bless you
george blake just saw this, thank you so much
why n the royal fuucck does this not have 1 million views
music is really suffering because no one cares about the talented ones keeping it alive
You Play amazing , you deserve millions of views my friend , only few can cover these songs on violin with these feelings. Amazing job:)
Adham Zoabi 🙏🏽
The violin to me is one of the most emotionally expressive of the string instruments. To combine it with this song and such talent is beyond description. BRAVO!!
Truly amazing cover, both subtle and powerful. That's how Eddie would have played it!
Piotr Wisniewski thank you Piotr
You've transcended half way through and Eddie's Soul joined you, fantastic performance, nothing left to say .
Man I wish Eddie was alive to see and hear this, incredible best cover I’ve heard of this song on any instrument omg 👍🏽😢
The soul never dies.
By definition, this is the magnum opus of any cover I've listened to of this classic master piece. You played that violin in ways that would have made Niccolo Paganini rise from the grave and take notice. What stood out the most for me was the style and control you have with the bow to create all those harmonics and distortions which perfectly fit the essences of the original. This is a worthy tribute to Eddie Hazel.
Awesome version !! I was fortunate to see Funkadelic play this live in 1978 !! 😎😎😎😎
Was that at Hammersmith Odeon, it was a Parliament Gig, I was there too, had never heard Maggot Brain, until, walking through the audience Eddie played it, absolutely mind blowing
@@guyellis9095 No I saw them play at Belle Vue concert hall in Manchester. Another iconic venue like the Hammersmith Odeon . We were both very fortunate to have seen them live😎😎👍👍👍
Not really sure how 8 people could dislike this. This is raw talent, and it gave me goosebumps
Eddie would be proud
Fantastic, thanks for sharing your love and talent.
Wow!! How many times and how many ways has Maggot Brain been covered? It's a true testament to the genius of the song.
Love it! Tears and goosebumps … thanks for that magic moment!
Your welcome, thank you for the kind words
Thank you. Absolutely incredible.
Your welcome, thank you for nice words :)
Ain't nothin to say but good god. I remember the first time I saw Lili Hayden play this. I think you're a little cleaner and classical with your delivery. Every note clear as a bell. Beautiful. ❤
Patrick & band, thank you so much for this! this is so nuanced, says so much, feels so much, explores & expresses so much, deeply acknowledges Eddie (& George & P-Funk), expresses the original feeling & the legendary motivation behind the music...it's articulate, sad, wild, weeping, wailing, jubilant, meditative, thoughtful, lost (there's a lost quality in the original recording i find few people really get) & found. it is Maggot Brain ❤
This should have all the likes.
Very,very well done......FUNK 0N !!!!!
Saw this a few weeks ago. I'm still trying to catch my breath. Good God...
Patrick ..... You killed it! Bravoooooooooooooooooooooo
That was incredible .... your players were straight great!
This is now my second most favorite version of major brain. The first being the original.
Just try Dave Simpson's version, you might be blown away to. Cheers
I listen to this whenever I cut onions. That way, when I cry, I can blame the onions
🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful version!
Thank you!
That's some soul music. I've never heard sounds like that from a violin.. your music encourages me to branch out more and experiment with different sounds. Thanks for posting :)
yes! try all sorts of things…the violin is such an expressive instrument…you can keep and break all the rules at at the same time, no limit
Goosebumps everywhere, I mean everywhere!

As usual I am blown away by Patrick's work and soul....Straight from the San Joaquin Valley!. Patrick, I'd love to work with you again. Suzanne
Halleujah. Your performance was incredible. I'm sure 95% of th e audience would be awestruck at your playing a piece made by a Black kid in the ghettos of America in the '70's. This how we can overcome intolerance. Your rendition hit me deep. Thank you for sharing. P.S. The keyboardist was awesome too.
Love it! And now being played by a Mexican Kid From East Side Fresno!! Much love
The audience should have been on their feet with applause.”Great Cover”.🎼🎻🎹🥁🎼
I Love This!!!
The fact that only 64k people have seen this masterpiece :(
Just you saying that is enough :)
This is fantastic. . . thank you for performing such an esoteric piece. One of the best interpretations I've ever heard. You are to be commended!

Just wanted to say... this is the type of playing that inspires me to pick up my fiddle again. And my dad always wore the blue hankerchief like you had in some videos. He gave me my first fiddle.

Wow, I always think covers of this are awful, even by pro musicians with electric guitar. A violin though? I never thought I'd have my face melted off by a fiddle.
