Hi, just for clarification. Installing the solar heater compromises the filtration system ? I’m not referring to a ground vacuum, I’m meaning just the pools filtration circulation. Great video thank you in advance
Hi, I know you have since changed your set up with the solar pad, but I wanted to ask you another question. I seem to be getting alot of air in my pump. The pump basket often has alot of air bubbles. I have checked the fittings, I have back washed and my pressure is good. Do you notice if you have air bubbles as well. Is this just a function of this pump/sand filter or does your water look smooth (no bubbles) when you look at your pump basket. Thanks
Hi Paul, I have a bubble at the top, but it does not seem to be "bubbling". I just uploaded a 15 second video of the sand filter bubble. The reducer for port B is in place for this video.
@@nancyzagar Thanks so much. I appreciate the feedback and video. How's your solar pad working while you running it from the outside faucet (is it adding a lot of water to the pool). I have been watching many videos on how other people incorporate similar solar heating solutions into their set up. I have yet to hook up my skimmer, (just ordered it) but I am convinced my suction will be low. An idea I had was to purchase a small cartridge pump. Since you already have the reducer in port B, why not use this separate pump in that port B instead and connect it to the solar pad. The hose coming out of the solar pad would have to rest on the edge of the pool frame but that is similar to what you are doing with the garden hose. This way, the pump/sand filter that came with the pool will be dedicated for the skimmer and the other smaller cartridge pump could run the solar pad. Just an idea I had and I thought I would share. I'm hoping it could work as I plan to implement it myself. You have been so kind in answering my questions, I thought I'd pass on an idea that might work for you as well. Thanks
@@paulflogeras2309 That sounds like an excellent idea! A pump dedicated to the solar heater sounds like it would be perfect. You'll have to let me know how that works. I am no longer using the solar heater at all. The pool temp has been in the 90's with just the solar cover in place half the day. I am still adding water daily (because of evaporation) but not through the solar panel/ garden hose.....just a garden hose. In the fall (cooler temps) I may add the solar heater back to the equation. Thanks for the idea!!! Love it :)
@@nancyzagar Well at least I have your blessing in thinking it will work ha ha. I might wait until next year to implement it since its really hard to find cartridge pumps right now. Temps in the 90's wow. What state are you from. I live in eastern Canada, so unfortunately the temps aren't that warm. We are getting water temps of mid 70's with the solar pad, lol. Well I'll let you know how I make out. Keeping posting great videos. I'm sure you'll hear from me again.
Agreed. Setting up with the solar heater dramatically reduced the filtration system. I no longer use the solar heater. I ended up with water boatman and back swimmers. I made a video about it.
How well does the solar heater work? I got the same pool, still setting it up. How do you set the temperature? Or the heater just heats it up to whatever it feels like?
Backswimmers and water boatmen are algae eating bugs. (You do not want them!!!) The solar heating pad did work. The water went into the high 90's (which encourages algae to grow FAST and uses up the chlorine very quickly). You have no control over the temperature when using the pad.
@@nancyzagar I'm trying to use the solar pad, but I'm only getting hot water out of it for like the first 1 minute, then it's regular cold water coming out... am i doing something wrong? How do i heat up the pool?
@@heyhomieproductions The solar pad is laid out in the sun? I live in NM. The solar pad was hot to the touch and definitely put out warm water. If you live in a northern state you may not have the same result. Without seeing your set up there is no way to know why yours is not working. Can you post a pic to your account?

Yes, 100%.
By hooking up through solar heater it compromised the filtration system.
Should have used a and b label on pool and pump to correspond to heater. For increased suction on vacuum plug one of b ports .

I am in New Mexico. Its pretty hot here 🔥.
I think a solar cover is a better option.
100% agreed! I ditched this way and used a solar cover.
I have next to no out flow so water is barley flowing errr

I no longer use the solar heater that came with the pool. It caused algae growth and backswimmers.

Does anyone know how long the filter power cord is?
Probably not long enough.
I would guess about 10 feet long.
I use an extension cord.
The only instructional sentence in this video:
“This got attached here.”
Ridiculous, don’t waste your time watching this.
