    Hi, my MPC 2000xl is in OS 1.20 and I don't have original floppy reader to downgrade to initial OS. Is the ZuluSCSI still allright / worth it for me?
    Thank you!

      Yeah. You can run any os with the Zulu. I would highly recommend it.

    1:07 Any particular reason for choosing 29MB as the .iso file size?

    • @bootdiskandchill
      @bootdiskandchill  9 місяців тому +1

      The hard drive sizes for the older MPCs max out at 900MB for the 2000 and XL, and 779MB for the 3000 and 60. The 3000 and 60 partition sizes cannot be bigger than 29MB. I happened to be working on something for a 3000 at that time thus the 29m. You should however create one that is 900m for the 2000 or XL and something like 770 for the 3000 or 60 to create 26 - 29m partitions.

    recently purchased the zulu scsi2sd rp2040 for my 2000xl. do i need another adapter for it to hook into my scsi port or does it plug into the computer as itself? just wondering if i need to purchase anything besides the 2040 and of course the sd card.
    thanks!

      Yes. You could use a small plastic adapter for the db25 of the Zulu to the xl or a cable . For the xl I prefer the cable. Other than that that’s all you need!

      The 2kxl has a scsi port at the rear, no db25. You would need an adapter.

    Hi can you explain, how it will be installed Zulu + SD Cart + MPC 60? My MPC says: FF60 No disk in floppy drive.😢according to samplerzone, the SD cart is already preformatted. But I don't just check how this is supposed to work. On the card are image files, a configuration file and a text file and a folder called Samplerzone.

    • @bootdiskandchill
      @bootdiskandchill  Рік тому +1

      @matthiasstammann4253 are you certain you have SCSI? On the MPC60 typically if the DB25 port is blue it is SCSI. If you have an MPC60 MK1 and the port is black you might not have SCSI. If you should see SCSI ID options in your disk menu. If not double check you have SCSI. As far as SamplerZone’s config and files, without looking I have no idea as I’ve never seen their setup before but it sounds right. Should be image files, config, text and whatever else they want to add for their customers.

      @@bootdiskandchill Thank you for the fast feedback. With regard to the SCSI status, the error message comes up: Error FF48. Although the Zulu is flashing blue, so it has power. It is an MPC 60 MK II. Do you know what could be causing it? A SCSI interface is also freshly installed.

    I just got a zuluscsi mini for my 2000xl with OS 1.14. When I format inside the 2000xl and try to open the SD card in windows, it shows the ISO file but doesn't mount like a drive. Do I need 1.20 OS for it to mount in windows? Thanks!

      @@felixtombeur2768 ok Felix, you will have to mount the ISOs on the computer. If you use windows try the app “power iso”. If you are on Mac right click the iso and select mount then navigate to it in the finder. Because they are in Akai format and partitioned, a computer can only access the “a” partition. Also the file system of the mpc is limited to 512 files per partition. They will need to be named 8.3 like bootdisk.wav. Make sure they are 16 bit and not larger than the memory in your MPC.

    Can’t we just have a new SCSI IDE bridge like we had 20 years ago, instead of all this convoluted nonsense? The card reader in my XL can use any size card over SCSI bridge and everything is just plug and play

    • @bootdiskandchill
      @bootdiskandchill  2 місяці тому

      I wouldn’t say it’s nonsense. All you have to do is plug it in and use it. 7 virtual drives on a card. Transferring files back and forth to a pc is always a process but not really convoluted. There’s no special software involved on Mac and any size card is fine. The xl has the same near 1 gig limitation as the 2k. The Zulu adds 6x more drives on the sd for 7 gigs total. If you got a good work flow stick with it!

    • @APMTenants
      @APMTenants 2 місяці тому

      @@bootdiskandchill the 1gb limit is only for atapi. My card reader is scsi and it can use any size drive. I thought you actually made this, but you’re a reseller. But whoever did design this might have the expertise to clone the scsi bridge that was discontinued 18 years ago. It currently sells for $400 used
      I’m not very experienced with isos and anything beyond noob level computing intimidates me, but I’m sure I will come around to it eventually because I’m not paying $400 for a scsi bridge

      @@APMTenants honestly man I would pursue it if I was you. It could probably help a lot of people out. I’ve never heard of it. If you need some help with ISOs just follow along. It’s not too different from loading a USB stick, hard disk or anything else, only it’s virtual - a file that represents hardware.
