- While we were hanging out at Wookies in the Woods (an annual gathering of Volkswagen .:R32 and Golf R enthusiasts from all over the country at the Tail of the Dragon), we came across Danny's VR6 Swapped Corrado. There is no shortage of VR6 swapped cars at Wookies, but when Danny told us he had actually AWD Swapped his car as well, we were really interested. Then he told us he drove all the way from California... 35 HOURS AWAY... We had to grab our cameras and let him tell his story!

Too much emphasis on just sheer power now. I prefer driving dynamics as well.
You can make a car go fast in a straight line but for me it’s gets old quickly.
Just want to say thank you to the boys at DAP for this video, and the community for all the awesome and flattering comments both here and DMs in IG, I was blown away and really appreciate it. This car was built 99% for me and me alone, but that other 1% of people loving it does mean a hell of a lot!! I’m especially proud to inspire others to take on something challenging and build something special! I could not have built this car without the advice of good friends (you know who you are) and James and the crew at FourSeason Tuning, but ultimately I did build this thing almost 100% myself on Jack stands in my garage, and again, if I can do it anyone can 👊 Thank you again!
That's my dude right there! Amazing build and more amazing human. True Corrado guy too. Went with his Dad to see it on the showroom floor when it was brand new in the early 90's, had one in high school, and now this!
His love for the Corrado obviously shows! I graduated in '91, and there was one guy in our school that had a Corrado. They weren't nearly as common as the GTI's, Fox'es, etc... I loved that car for it's looks and technology. The auto elevating wing was so cool!
The Corrado is one car that VW should bring back. I remember seeing them all over the place when I was a kid. Now the last time I saw one was about 15 years ago. They're such good looking cars!

I owned a '90 G60 and it's still by far my favorite car ever. This guy is a true Corrado guy, legit awesome build. I have neither the skill or patience to do this so my hats off to this guy. My dream is to own another Corrado at some point and considering the above I want to find one that someone has already done the work on and just enjoy it. Danny, if you ever want to sell let me know!

The Corrado VR6 is my favorite VW. I'm not a VW fan either but I love that car. Wish I could find a clean one up here in Ontario, Canada. I don't even remember the last time I saw one on the road tbh.

My third car and second VW was a yellow 1990 G60 Corrado. I had it from 1990 - 1999 I miss it terribly.
I hear you, I had an '89 Stratos blue G60, and I still wish I could drive it again. Unfortunately I moved across the world for work and will most likely never see one on the road again.
I had a blue, 1990 G60 Corrado and I loved it. It was pretty beat up when I got rid of it in 1998. Very underrated car, I had mine pegged at 140 on a deserted highway more than once! Downhill with a tailwind for sure!

Love the Corrado, its the car that got me hooked on VWs permanently back in the 80s
Which is crazy because the first corrado (G60) didn't come out until 1990!

My bad.... Didn't consider which part of the world you might hail from. Here in North America (which kind of sucks for cars) we didn't see it until 1990

One of the most beautiful corrados I ever seen. The wheels make the car so fresh and it look like 5 years old. Amazing work with the awd

I love that car!!! I installed 5k sound system in my buddies back in 1995 . He had the yellow one with G60 engine but I always loved the car. I had MK 1 1983 Jetta . The 92 Jetta GLI and 2014 jetta along with Passat R line I got in May 2017

Oh I *love* vw corrados! I had a white one, shaved new mint paintwork, a 2.0L 16V 136hp engine. Was'nt fast at all, but with coilovers it was like a gocart. And a 3" exhaust from the manifold all the way back it sounded amazing

I always thought Wookies In The Woods was only Golf, Rabbit and related cars. But it is nice to know that any VW is welcome.

wholly cow! What an understated video,pulled some oil through my plug o rings on my valve covers after 6 hard tail runs.Sucks just to fix that,but what you did makes me feel like a wimp!
It took a lot of soul searching at times to stick with this project, but all I can say now is it was totally worth it 👊

That's beautiful. I had a chance to buy a vr6 turbo swapped Corrado when I was 19 (34 now). I always wish I had bought it. This is definitely my dream car.

Corrados for ever!!! Got a G60 in my garage. About to start working on it. Will need all the tips and pointers I can get. Very awesome ride and the guy who built it has a humble character. Nice video and car!

It’s basically Kevin’s (brilliantyellowg60) old car in Tornado Red, although his was a synchro Passat rear as Mk4 Haldex units were 2-3 years old at the time and crazy expensive. Great job. Looks excellent!
Terrific job. Such a neat and tidy finish. I think the wheels let the side down. They are far too wide for both the arches and the tyres.
Amazing, and cool, the main ingredient may be patience, but he understates his own ability, the Corrado VR6 is an icon, we will probably never see anything like it again 😶🇮🇪

Great car! Me personally, I would raise it up about 1/2 inch and go with wheels about 1 inch less diameter, and get the camber back were it was originally. I prefer a slightly more stock look.

Thumbs up for this and the custom fabrication of the rear. Excellent work. I would happily watch a one hour video of the entire build. I'm aiming at doing something similar to my Jetta and making it 4wd and adding a DSG. Lots of work but agreed that once you get into it, you build confidence. Cheers!

@@dannylanz6441 I thought about it after I crashed my Audi b4 S4 using that engine and drivetrain or a VR6 turbo longitudinally using the S4 transaxle and rear diff but another mk4 4 motion car would be more ideal

Such a nice ride. Always wanted one when they first came out back in the day.
Nice build. That piston must have been a killer. Brakes were a great win. Great paint gift! With all that power, I can imagine handling/front bias weight issues of the Corrado were largely sorted. Always like the car's concept but the factory FWD handling was a major negative (despite what the press and forums say).
Yea between the added weight further back from the AWD diff and the battery relocated to the trunk and the fuel tank sitting further aft, it feels quite a bit more balanced 🤙
@@dannylanz6441 Thanks Danny. Really a wonderful built . . . along with the massive innovation. VW sold a 4x4 Golf II in Europe but that was a complete dog. It looked like a clown car and drove terribly.

@@dannylanz6441 I grew up in Germany and I always loved the Corrado. This was the german version of the Mustang I guess. I admire the work you put in and also kept close to it's origins. Even the red color was the #1 selling color for the MK2 Golf back then. I felt like 18 again watching this
