Jan 29, 2016 - My wife and I were listening to music at Robert's Western World, an historic venue in Nashville.
Stan Saxson, the drummer, flipped backwards while The Don Kelley Band tore through "Ghost Riders in the Sky," breaking through the front plate glass window and landing on the sidewalk and into lower Broadway yore. It is our understanding after speaking with the drummer, Saxson, that he is OK! - he even got back up and continued playing.
The front window is now boarded up and the Don Kelley Band is scheduled to play again on Saturday night.

This is my crazy brother. He said he broke his 5th left rib but otherwise, he's ok. He's a fun, crazy guy! So glad he's ok!!!

Played drums at Robert's many times. When I heard about this I had to pick the right time to watch it. Too close to home. I've always made pretty good money working at Robert's with John England and the Western Swingers and I know that the owner of Robert's played that stage many times himself. He is no cheaper than any of the club owners on Lower Broadway, if anything, he is a better boss than most. It is a crowded, treacherous little piece of real estate behind those drums though and pretty amazing it has never happened before. Glad he got out with a broken rib and scratches for sure. It's a good 4 to 5 foot drop to the concrete on the outside sidewalk.
The guy landed on me and another couple with his snare drum on the sidewalk. Broken glass everywhere. Crazy.

This is pure classic footage! Ive been to this club many times back in the day listening to the Don Kelley Band! Glad the drummer is ok. My gosh! What an ending! Don was dang sure concerned!
He played til 3 am at a gig across the street that night and got checked out after. Broken rib.
I repeat...The man fell 6ft to the sidewalk, broke his rib and PLAYED UNTIL 3AM.
He is a legend here in downtown now.

We see them play all the time downtown, they're. Porter (the lead guitarist) has played with our band before, he's incredible. The whole band is. I'm glad Stan's okay!

Yep..the ole 'fall out the window backwards trick.'..Gets 'em every time. I've always said that Drummers are more entertaining than the boring statues they're forced to play with, outfront. I'll hire this cat. FINALLY, a musician in Nashville that actually entertains.

Rather than making any money off this video, perhaps any compensation you receive from media outlets and UA-cam should go for the medical expenses for the poor drummer with the broken rib? You must realize that as a musician he probably has very little healthcare coverage.
At least he didn't blow up like the drummers from Spinal Tap lol
Well, after all, he ~is~ a drummer, isn't he? I mean, he could have spontaneously combusted onstage and just left a little green globule on the drum throne. Or died in a bizarre gardening accident. Or choked on vomit of unknown origin, perhaps but not necessarily his own, because "you can't really dust for vomit."
So the fact that he's okay is quite out of the ordinary!
