We've now transitioned from "long-timing" for six months a year, to living and traveling in our RV full-time.
We'll provide beautiful travel videos, as well as some tips and insight on trip planning, and equipping and maintaining your RV to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Folks, I am so sorry...I fell asleep in the recliner and missed our own Premiere!
That is hilarious. We missed it too. We haven't been to Louisiana beaches. It looks like some great boondocking. We are in Texas for the winter. Sad we didn't get to see you. Safe travels.
@@JarheadAndGingersJourney same to both of you! Next week's episode is from Port Aransas, spending Thanksgiving and *lots* of dolphin encounters.
That's what happens after a full day of skiing when you out of shape... right? 🤣
@@gorrdd right (and don't I know it!) but I don't have that excuse today.
😂😂
I am from Creole and grew up a few miles from Rutherford Beach. Over night we lost our entire town. I never found my home, and most came back to a pile of bricks or empty piers. Generations of family lived next door to each other, Sunday dinners at Grandma’s house, sitting on the porch swing during a cool evening breeze, family crawfish boils, Friday night football games, riding on the beach, duck hunting and fishing, boat riding and tubing, fresh vegetables from the garden, fresh seafood, getting together to pray the Rosary for someone or having a benefit for them, the pageants had a packed auditorium and Fur & Wildlife Festivals with your whole family when the streets of Cameron were lined with people cooking and dancing to Cajun/French music. You could walk down the street with a beer, a shotgun, a fried shrimp on a stick, and a neck full of parade beads. Those of us that grew up south of the Gibstown Bridge will never fill that hole in our hearts. We try to build make shift camps to be able to spend a little time there but the restrictions have become so tedious and expensive which each storm and most people just can’t afford it. Rita was overshadowed by Katrina and we never get the coverage New Orleans and Florida get but their communities get rebuilt, ours don’t! So thank you so much for documenting our lost community❤❤❤
Oh my gosh, Brandi! Your tale is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Cameron Parish sounds like Nirvana to me before Rita, and its even more disheartening to see it in the state it's in now knowing what it was like before. May the residents find the strength to return the area to what it once was.
Not to mention all of the meth heads that stayed in the town after everyone left
looks too good to be true ! a snowbird from Canada could spent the whole winter boondocking there ! wow...
I don't recall seeing a stay limit, but they'd surely create one if someone was staying there long term. It's also a long way from anything.
Ahhh.....you found a good one!!!! My husband, Mike and I are traveling in a Class A Motorhome, Last winter, we went to Rutherford Beach and boondocked for 2 and a half weeks. It was wonderful! Time seemed to stand still, even though we would see the sun come up in the east, track overhead until it set in the west, in beautiful sunsets. Commercial fishermen were dragging their nets full of fish back to their ports. The offshore oil rigs were silhouetted against the horizon. One of the campers, a single man, would come out of his RV with a bagpipe, and play on the beach, as the sun set. Such a beautiful treasure to find! We are going back when we find ourselves in that region again! We enjoyed your video, remembering how much we loved our stay here! Thank you!
Thank you very much, Deb, both for watching and for sharing your wonderful experience on Rutherford Beach! We're happy that we could bring you back.
What a sweet boondocking spot!
I like the idea about the trash bags and the dumpsters. No excuse for not helping out.
Two more batteries???
You keep adding batteries, your’re going to need to tow an extra trailer! 😉
We finally added a solar panel onto our rig. That along with our portable OKMO power pack allowed us recently to easily go ten days without having to run our generator. It’s nice to wake up in the morning and have a cup of expresso without having to get out and start the generator!
Nice to see some boondocking again.
Thank you,
Ram
👍🏼👍🏾
It was nice to HAVE some boondocking again. Initial thoughts are to stay in the west in 2023 to maximize boondocking, and not have to spend 50% of our season in campgrounds as we had to in 2022 by going east.
Congrats on the solar! It sure is nice (and quiet) to have.
And we ended up adding those two more batteries when we got back to Utah ua-cam.com/users/shortsLLjuehGx_d4 which actually makes 6 total, not 5 like we said in this video.
Too bad you could not have visited pre Hurricane Rita in 2005. I still live visiting this area but it was amazing before Rita. As a Louisiana resident I must say you did an excellent job chronicling your visit to the area.
Thank you Joe, and thanks for watching! We would have loved to have seen the area prior to Rita. I can only imagine the difference.
Always loving seeing videos from my home state
We loved our visit, Belle. Thank you for watching!
I live in Lake charles, and I enjoy it every summer. it's quite peaceful out there and love the colorful sky in evening 😀 thank you.
I'm sure it is, Hardik. It would be a great place to go take a walk just to "disconnect." Thanks so much for watching!
This is my favorite spot to surf fish for big bull reds. Happy travels sir, happy to see my home town featured here!
And we're very happy that you took the time to watch, Dustin. Thank you!
It destroyed my entire apartment complex. It was awful. It was in Lake Charles. We still haven’t recovered. 150 mile winds was no joke.
That had to have been a terrifying experience. I'm assuming that you rode it out?
@@GrandAdventure I stayed till about couple hours before, and my Sons made me leave. I been in so many, but I didn’t want my Sons to worry. I came back two hours afterwards, and it look like our City was in a war.
@@gymnastgirl2984 good call on bailing. As former barrier island residents on Florida's Gulf Coast we rode out a bunch, but I can't imagine doing so in a Cat 4 or 5.
That’s where I Learned to Swim. A long time ago
I go often and really enjoyed your video. Boondocking, birding and beach combing are always fun at Rutherford Beach. Thanks for mentioning the trash pickup!
If we lived around there we would go there often, too. Glad that you enjoyed this, Kim, and thank you so much for watching!
I have been going to this beach all my life.
You have a wonderful regular spot in your back pocket.
DUDE!!!!! THAT'S THE VIEW THAT MAKES STARING AT THE OCEAN WORTH IT. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
My family used to camp there 60years ago. Ran drop lines in the surf, waist deep, for crab drop lines. Spent many weekends there.
Very cool, Eric! Perhaps it's time to return to relive those days for a weekend.
Newbie here..as you highlight my SW Louisiana roots. Cameron and Lake Charles folks are so kind. Love the drone footage. 195 mph winds hit so parts of my family homes. It too costly to rebuild....and easy to egress with your RV...Merry Christmas. Cajun B. PS If you need anything about Port Arkansas..look up Boondocking with Dennis..super nice guy.
Thank you so much! You come from a very special area with some truly hardy souls.
Amish volleyball on the beaches of Louisiana. who woulda thunk it? you just never know, right? and that sunset at the 11:40 mark was really spectacular
Thank you Mickster! Trust me, the *last* thing I expected to see on that beach was a Pennsylvania tour bus, much less that volleyball game.
@@GrandAdventure that amish tour bus is from my home town, Ephrata, Pa!
@@dennisnice4910 it definitely caught me by surprise because of how in the middle of nowhere this place is, not to mention the bus actually driving out into the beach.
When I was a kid we would go there
Looks like the cold snap is making Zoe frisky 😊. Thanks so much for sharing you adventures Mark!
Thanks Renee! Perhaps the cold had some influence, but I think the bigger driver was camping where she could be off-leash after several months of straight campground stays because we were in the East. "Freedom!!"
Like how you respect the local people by telling their stories. You could have shown more sunsets. Thanks GA
If there were more sunsets to show, you would've seen them. 😉 We didn't luck out with the weather.
Congratulations!!!
You got our hurricane history absolutely correct! (Which nobody does).
The last hurricane to hit Louisiana was Katrina (or Ida) for the world outside the 337 area code. I really enjoyed your video on Rutherford Beach, although you didn’t mention our birding sanctuary and observation opportunities. If you had gone fishing where you camped, you would still be raving!
Thank you for giving us such gracious notice. It is truly sad how badly we got beat up, but much sadder that you noticed how forgotten we are by our government by noticing all the derelict homes and buildings left behind.
By the way, you ended this great video on Rutherford Beach by signing off from “Port Aransas”. 😊
I did?? Oh my, I need to go back and check that! 😁 However, thank you very much for your gracious comments. Despite the challenges your population is facing, we absolutely adored the area. It's so wonderfully rural and surprisingly remote for that part of the world. We will be back!
Hello Mr. Guido. We were surprised by the gigantic size of this convenience store and gas station. It's really huge and impressive. Your boondocking site was wonderful. What a view and what a dream place. Once again you have taken us on a journey and informed us as well of what this place looks like after two hurricanes. It was very instructive once again. We take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.
Thank you Denis, and same to you and yours! Buc-ee's locations are on a scale that has to be seen to be believed. Their newest one under construction in Luling, Texas will include a 75,000 square-foot store, something like 130 fuel pumps, and employ over 250 people.
I have added this to our bucket list now that we are full time! Right now we are hanging out in Quartsite for a few weeks then heading south along the gulf. Can't wait.
Cool! Will we be seeing you at the Rally in Q? Apologies that I fell asleep and missed our own Premiere. 😳
@@GrandAdventure Just found the info about the rally. Looks like fun! I will be swinging by for sure, even if I don't bring the rig...we have a pretty epic spot we are in at the moment. LOL
I really appreciate your videos ! Always informative! Thanks
Thank you Carol!
Marc - you did a great job highlighting that area of Louisiana. It did take a number of hits in the last decade but it always comes back. In the spring and summer, the Creole Nature Trail explodes with all varieties of wildlife and plant life as well. You want alligators...you can see plenty at that time. Continued safe travels and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours.
Thank you George, and Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.
We visit our Daughter who lives in Iberia and will try this next time were in Louisiana! Thanks so much!
Cool! You'll love this little find.
12:53 Chilly at 53º? Us Michiganders find that balmy weather and would be wearing shorts! 😂😂 Really nice video. Thanks for sharing!
For you folks that's called July 4th! 😄 Thanks so much for watching.
@@GrandAdventure 🤣🤣🤣
Just spent 4 nights there. First there is water available right where you enter beach. Second is MOSQUITOES. The days we where there you couldn't go outside until 9 or so unless you drenched yourself in Off.
Quiet and peaceful place. Nearest food and gas is Cameron. They have a couple food trucks thwre that have good food and a small convenient store.
Alligators just a little inland so keep dogs on beach.
Never saw the sun set or rise because it would be cloudy every time.
We've heard about the mosquitoes. Fortunately for us, I think it was too cool while we were there for them to be out. We sure did love our stay at Rutherford Beach!
I am from this area. Always enjoyed that beach. Great video. Enjoyed it. That 18 mile bridge is okay to drive over as long as there is no accidents. I have sat still on that bridge over 2 hours before. Thanks for the video
Thank you so much! Given the narrow shoulders on that bridge, I imagine it doesn't take much to create a cluster.
Born and grew up in Louisiana i never knew this island existed in Louisiana thanks, give me more of Louisiana
It's cool to hear that we could introduce you to something new, Jimmy! Thanks so much for watching.
It’s not an island it’s just the coastline of Louisiana.
I love Rutherford beach I’m only an hour and half drive from the beach
Aaron, with that last name I'm not surprised! 😁 We really need to come back through your area to do some more exploring. Thanks so much for watching!
What an amazing boondocking spot! Thanks for sharing that special place with us. Too cool, tour bus on the beach!
Thank you for coming along! Happy to share it.
Knowing that you're currently back in UT enjoying a ton of snow, I enjoyed the contrast in scenery.
It's a contrast indeed.
I love Gulf Shores Alabama.
Well then Elwood, here's our Gulf Shores episode for your viewing pleasure: ua-cam.com/video/Ye8hDkKKzPo/v-deo.html
@@GrandAdventure thank you.
Guido, I want to thank you for mentioning the incredibly devastating wind damage from Laura and Delta. This wind damage didn't have the media coverage that water damage has following hurricanes, and your mentioning the continued remnants brings that to light. I grew up in Lake Charles, and have many fond memories of visiting Rutherford Beach and fishing from Cameron. Although I no longer live there, it is my home and my heart feels home there. (I can only hope that you tried the local cajun favorite boudin in Lake Charles, as there are many wonderful spots.) ... You and Zoe are documenting my future travels. Cheers from Yuma! See you out there!
Thanks so much! As a native your comment means that much more to us. It's hard to miss the wind damage around Cameron, it's the proverbial elephant in the room. What we found so heartbreaking is that two years after the storm, it's pretty obvious that this area will never recover. People there simply lack the resources or rationale to rebuild. I've long been fascinated by the Louisiana bayou country, and as you may have guessed from my Pecan Island reference in the video I truly enjoy the show Swamp People and similar offerings. Aside from one quick visit nearly 30 years ago this was my first experience, and it won't be my last.
As for the boudin, my (apparently mistaken) understanding was that it's blood sausage, and I wasn't feeling that adventurous. I've since been told that there are different types of boudin, some of which are blood sausage and some of which are not. Knowing that now, I'll explore it more carefully next time. But that seafood boil was the best I've ever had!
@@GrandAdventure Boudin blanc, a rice sausage...never have I seen blood sausage, I suspect it is made in homes or at a cochon de lait. My NorCal hubby loves it now too!
@@kandm2597 just one more reason to return. 😉
@@GrandAdventure Cameron is home for me. I live in Lake Charles, but my momma and daddy, brother and several cousins still live in Cameron, Creole and Grand Chenier. It is not the lack resources or rationale (maybe a hair of rationale) that keeps people from returning, it is the costs of home owner insurance. The premiums are outrageous. Thank you for spotlighting our little corner or paradise. Growing up there was a dream!
@@jojeaux2922 We can imagine that it was! It's a delightful rural corner of Louisiana. Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the video!
You're most welcome, thanks for watching!
I loved your story on our state, it’s a wonderful place to live. The only thing that I can fault you on is your pronunciation of Atchafalaya but we fault everyone that’s not from here😜 “uh chaf uh lie uh” is how it’s pronounced here😂
Thanks for that Laurie! There's no place we go that we don't butcher a local name. 😁 We had a wonderful visit, and it did nothing but grow our fascination of your bayou country. We'll be back!
I'm from Marrero, this looks like fun!!
It sure is, Elizabeth! Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your comment, UA-cam for some reason was holding it as potential spam.
I wish I could pilot a drone like you do, Mark! I hope to get better at it, someday. You always have great video production. Great channel.
Thank you Alan! You're much too kind.
Beautiful places!
Indeed they are, thanks so much for watching!
been there about 5 times so far. Fabulous
Well there's an endorsement! It's a terrific spot.
A' Chaf ' A' Lie' A' That's how it's pronounced properly! I know I am 100% Cajun... Grew up right there... On The Bayou Teche !
Good call on increasing the size of your battery bank. I’d actually recommend getting 3 more. Clouds happen, and the extra capacity will allow you to not worry about being partially shaded by trees.
Thanks for another great video! 👍🏼
Thanks Gord! I actually misspoke in this video, two more increases our capacity by 50% from 400 Ah to 600 Ah. I bought them on a Black Friday deal, now I'm just waiting for a warm sunny day to wire them into our battery bank.
Marc, you would be very surprised to see that Amish folk are very well travelled people. Here in Florida it is not uncommon for a bus full of them to swim in the ocean or the gulf fully clothed in traditional garments and everything. I also saw a ton of them enjoying offroading excursions in mountain peaks of Colorado on top of Imogene, Black Bear Pass, Engineer Pass and all those peaks. Telling you man, I am on to their tricks! I saw that lamborghini motor hidden in the buggy compartment!
In all seriousness though, I am finally caught up to all your videos. Sorry could not follow along as you published them. Had one hell of a year with home repairs, hurricanes, clean up, trips to and from and basically bothers of life that made my queue of youtube videos stretch for miles. I was doing my best to juggle all that.
While all my trip videos and those I chose not to film in 2022 season have long been addressed, I spent a ton of time this year and stretching into next uploading google street view of off roading and hiking trails in Utah and Colorado from my 2021 trip. I umm... severely underestimated just how much of a hassle that was going to be. 90 days of recording 360 degree videos non stop generated a whopping 16 terabytes of google street view content that has to be processed and uploaded but at least for all the effort (which at this point is largely sunken cost fallacy and I simply refuse to give up) will benefit people for years to come. When done (hopefully by end of March 2023) I would have uploaded 4,000 miles worth of google street view stuff. Colorado is done and google already published most of it. I am now 10% into Utah stuff.
Wow, that's one massive project! It's a shame that most who will benefit from it will never realize the effort that you needed to put into it, but they'll appreciate the benefit nevertheless. Thank you so much for doing that. Some of those projects are as you describe -- you underestimate what it'll take, but still refuse to give up on it.
As for the Amish, there was a time that I would've been shocked at how much they travel. After spending an evening with an Amish family in Indiana this year, however, I now understand. There's a surprising amount of wanderlust hidden within that community, and they find a way to make it work and still comply with their church's values and principles.
Louisiana...
Beautiful content!!
A Sportsman Paradise....
Thank you! We will definitely be back.
Short but sweet, thanks for the beach visit.

Welcome to our backyard. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see ya again real soon. Happy Holidays
Thank you, wishing you the happiest of holidays as well. We had a wonderful time in your backyard, and we'll most certainly be returning one day.
I assume you knew what that yellow jeep was saying to you with the flashing lights... Right ! Well for anyone that might not now... that almost always means either a cop if up ahead and or a issue with your truck are car is noticed, stop and see what's up or it means your lights are on ... some even today do not realize that many new cars and trucks have full time running lights that are often left on... anyway mostly in Cajun country is means theirs a cop ahead be extra careful...
That's what had me stumped, Abe. No cop, for we were on the beach near the one way in and out, and not on a road. Nothing wrong with the truck, either.
Beautiful beach! Great drone shots

It was a great stop, Barratt. My only wish was that we had more time there.
Spent some time down that way in May of 2021. We stayed at Cajun Palms RV Resort. Next time you are down that way I would recommend a tour of the swamp with Atchafalaya Basin Landing Airboat Swamp Tours. We also had a great time visiting Martin Accordions Inc. They are known for the small Cajon souse box. They did a great tour and presentation.
Yes Cameron Parish is a very pore area. To bad the government can send Billons overseas but cant help them rebuild.
I actually did one of those airboat tours about 30 years ago on a trip to New Orleans, Bill. Don't recall exactly where it was as my wife's company made the arrangements, but we had a blast. Appreciate the tips!
@@GrandAdventure One fun part of the airboat tourer is they had a pet alligator. They got back into this area and banged on the side of the boat. Well up popes this alligator and swims toward the boar . Well the fact that they fed it chunks of chicken probably didn't hurt.
I would go on this tourer again.
Loved it Marc... Those sunset images over the gulf were fantastic. Definitely poster perfect.
You should make some camping placemats using some of your best images and offer them on your market web page. Just a thought. With all the traveling you do, you get a huge opportunity for some very incredible scenes.

Thanks for sharing this great spot. It looks like you parked on top of part of a restoration project. All those little plants sticking up out of the ground. They plant those to help keep the shore from eroding. I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me.
Yep, good eye Jacob. We didn't notice them at first because they weren't marked in any way, and were rather sporadic. They were also just a single shoot stuck into the sand without any preparation or much fanfare. Honestly, a good breeze would have blown them over but once we noticed them we moved a little bit.

Texas Monthly’s archives show a 30 year ago bad situation nearby
👍
First time watching your channel man love it I have never camped on the beach like that. We have a 33 foot Montana. I believe we’re going to go down and check it out.
We're happy to have you aboard, Gary -- thank you so much! As Westerners we're huge on boondocking over campgrounds; however, there are so few opportunities east of the Rockies to do so because our nation's public lands pretty much evaporate right at the Front Range. However, there are a few select locations like this one, Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) ua-cam.com/video/SqY-UIfQnRQ/v-deo.html and others where you can do so right on the sand. You have to watch the high tide (more so at PINS than here), and deep sand so you don't get stuck (again more so at PINS), but otherwise you get a true dispersed camping experience with unreal proximity to the surf to lull you to sleep each night.
Minivans do donuts on Rutherford Beach.
Hmmm...didn't see that phenomenon ourselves while we were there, but it wouldn't surprise me.
now on my list.
Joe, your list is growing. 😉
I live in Louisiana. stayed many days on rutherford that and holly beach just down the road
If we lived there, Rodney, we would too! Thanks for sharing your little slice of camping heaven with us for a few days.
Nice videoing
Thank you Vince!
There’s a bunch of places in Louisiana like this. Around the swamps is pretty neat. In the dead of summer it’s Hot and Humid but I think it’s worth it.
Not sure I'd want to be there in the dead of summer, but we will definitely be back! The area absolutely fascinates us.
What are spots around the swaps offer free boondocking rv camping? We would love to check them out.
👍✌️
Does Mrs GA help with the drive? We alternate two hour stretches, so we don’t get too tired. We are thinking we’ll decrease our days from 400 to 300 miles so we can enjoy more of the country side!
That's a good plan. I've tried to get Mrs GA to do some of the driving, but her nervousness over towing that trailer has thus far prevailed.
An actual road alligator, not a rubber one. LOL Merry holidays to you and yours!
Same to you and yours, Bert!
Hi. Love your videos. We believe you provide the best information and videos of your travels. Thank you. For all you do. Can you tell me how long your Fifth wheel is? Thanks so much Kim
Thank you so very much Kim! Our fiver is 32'11".
Thank you for your quick reply we’re showing a friend your video and getting him into the 1/2 ton market.
Nancy and I just ordered a new horizon 42.
Thanks for sharing the vid, and congrats on that new monster you just bought! That's a 2020 KZ Durango Half-Ton D283RLT.
We visited Cameron back in February, lot of people living in rv parks.
Yep, most of those were empty during our recent visit. I suspect it has to do with whatever the local refinery activity level is.
@@GrandAdventure the first time we went down there the bugs where so you couldn't walk over a few yards into the wildlife refugees.
@@arkansastraveler7698 we're happy to report that the few bugs at this time of year were quite tolerable.
Atchafalya it's pronounced as A-chaf-alia. It's a shame you missed the museum and the animatronic racoon. It's a Louisiana treasure and one of the only three rest areas on I10.(state cutbacks) I have never heard of Creole, Louisiana. I didn't think Louisiana had any beaches. It was probably a continuation of the works progress administration. Which built all of the beaches in Alabama and Mississippi. The beaches and highway you see today didn't exist before then.
Actually Stephen, Rutherford Beach's development pre-dates the WPA: www.rockinrutherford.com/post/journey-through-rutherford-beach-history-the-very-early-years
So there were hotels and other beach tourism related businesses at both Rutherford Beach and Hackberry Beach by the turn of the century, whereas the WPA didn't come into existence until the mid-1930s. Back at the beginning of the 20th Century folks certainly weren't building up beaches, so if I had to venture a guess it would be that the beach was formed naturally by the deposition from the former Mermentau River, before its flow was diverted by the cutting of the navigation channel leading from Lower Mud Lake to the Gulf at the east end of Hackberry Beach. The river used to enter the Gulf right where the entrance to Rutherford Beach exists today. In fact, the reason that the original channel is now dry is because it filled naturally with silt from the river, lending further credence to my theory. But hey, I'm not a geologist.
As for our mispronunciation, as we've told other commenters it wouldn't be a Grand Adventure episode if we didn't butcher a local pronunciation somewhere in it. It's kind of like a rite of passage for our viewers.
Enjoyed the video! Really curious about what happened with the new truck you ordered. Maybe I missed it somewhere but I thought you were waiting on it to come in.
Brett, believe it or not we're still waiting. Today is day 376.
@@GrandAdventure oh my, I order a new ram in may. Got it in August. Sorry that's not working out for y'all!
Great video, beautiful scenery! I've tent camped that area plenty of times. Those evening/early morning mosquitoes are not so bad in the cooler months. But during the summer, they're so brutal that you can literally hear and feel hundreds of them around you! Also, I'm pretty sure you're pronouncing Atchafalaya wrong. The stress is on the 4th syllable, not the 1st.
Thank you Ashley! I cannot begin to imagine what the mosquitoes are like there and the heat of summer. And it wouldn't be one of our videos if we didn't butcher some local pronunciation, so at least we're consistent. 😄
@@GrandAdventure Louisiana has such a rich culture rooted in French and the Choctaw Indians, “atchafalaya” originating in the later. And here in New Orleans we have so many streets with French names that I’m sure I butcher a few from time to time myself 😁!
Louisiana has beaches...?
I never even knew that boondocking on the beach was a real legal thing!! WOW. WHAT ABOUT TIDES?
In some other places like Padre Island National Seashore, tides were a legitimate concern. Here, however, the beach is steep enough that it was still plenty wide even at high tide.
Big tides in that area run maybe 2 ft. You are safe on the cleaner looking sand. But don't camp on the darker sands.
There are also 3 other beaches in Cameron Parish that you can camp on on the west side of the ferry.
Fishing is fantastic when the winds are out of the North during the fall when the shrimp are migrating to the Gulf.
If they would have passed though Cameron there are spots on the beach with camper hook up at holly beach
Yup, Holly Beach was our "Plan B" in case Rutherford Beach wasn't what we were hoping it would be. We would've left that way, too, towards our next stop in Texas, but the electronic signs warned that we were too long for the ferry in Cameron. But we'd rather boondock when we can, instead of stay in a campground. It felt so good to be able to do so for the first time in months after swinging through the East Coast.
Great video I too tow with a Tundra but not a 5th wheel trailer how does she handle that rig thanks
Thanks Savador! It actually pulls the fiver better than it did our former travel trailer, and we get about 1.5 MPG better fuel economy with the fifth wheel even though it weighs about 3000 lb heavier. We upgraded the brakes and put in airbags, but other than that we're running stock.
