I really liked the live-action's addition of the funeral scene. In the original animated series, we got the sense that Iroh's devotion to Zuko and treating him as a surrogate son due to remorse and grief following Lu Ten's death. In the live-action, we instead see it arise out of gratitude, due to Zuko being the only one to show genuine empathy and shared sorrow talking about Lu Ten as an actual person, and supporting Iroh through his grief. Thus, Iroh and Zuko's relationship is borne out of actions by both of them, not just Iroh processing his grief. Additionally, it shows - even at this stage - Zuko's capacity for compassion - admittedly, albeit narrowly focused to his own family, but nonetheless a different side of him that isn't purely obsessed with the Avatar.
I like that this adaptation is making it have a more serious vibe as well! Obviously I loved the cartoon when I was younger and it was so fun and funny but this show deals with some serious topics and I love that they are making it more emotional and giving it a lot more depth 🫶🤍 I love zuko and Iroh so much 😭😭
Zuko admires his uncle since he didn't get the love & respect he wanted from his dad. Also, there's a backstory of Iroh's son (which I won't get into spoilies), hence Zuko's soft spot. There are so many emotional layers that can be peeled off from the anime it's actually surprising that this was made for kids rather than adults.

Zuko gave him the strength to keep going. That’s why he said he owes him something he could never repay.
It’s so beautiful 😭 I love their relationship so much 🫶🥰

@@icedquokka they made azula less evil in this. She's supposed to be calm, collected and perfect. But evil. Here she seems very impulsive.
