- Happy Pride Month! I've been wanting to cover this song for a while now (thank you Jimmy for introducing this song to me! Kermit luvrs 4 life) and this was such a perfect opportunity. I had so much fun making the harmonies for this too (especially the "magic" part) I played the instrumental as well so that I can actually upload this to Spotify, Apple Music, Etc even though it's not an original! cool huh!! :D
Also, I chose Utena and Anthy because they were the BLUEPRINT for sapphic cartoon media nowadays, they're a classic pairing that I absolutely adore.

Omg Revolutionary Girl Utena was really a beautiful anime. Utena showed me that it is possible to be both the prince and the princess. Just because she prefers the men’s uniform doesn’t mean she doesn’t like a dress. Not to mention the beautiful Anthy as colored women representation. The depth and darkness and its heavy metaphorical take make this anime such an awesome and early rep for the lgbt+.

I'm gonna be real honest, although I never comment on cover songs, this one made me cry, as it's a comfort song for me, I haven't heard a good rainbow connection cover this good in so long that it brings tears to my eyes, because this exact song brought me closure during the hard times, and seeing this pop up in my recommended was the best blessing I've ever been given, I am sad this is not getting any traction and I hope it does soon, as this cover makes me cry of joy, from how beautifully made it is.
This legit made me cry, I blame the combination of childhood nostalgia points from Kermit the frog AND Revolutionary girl utena. Lesbians and frogs are beholden to my tears now.

When I was younger I made a Rainbow Connection quote into my facebook banner, because I felt like it was a safe way to express myself. To me this song is so comforting like its telling me that its okay to take my time and what I feel is real and its good and its warm. 8 years later and Rainbow Connection will always hold a very special place in my still mostly closeted lesbian heart.
