A black Jack is a piece of leather with a chunk of lead sewn into it. One thwap to the cranium and they're in the Hospital with a serious concussion and a fractured skull
Der Hof 2007 not sure how stable they would be. Honestly, I’d suggest just ordering one and seeing how that works. Do you always deadlift with a partner?
Coop: "Dead Wedges are useless, just use a change plate." Also Coop: "The genesis jack is a great piece of equipment and only costs 3x as much as a Dead Wedge!"
But they look all cool, and we all know it's all about cool. There is a lot of good looking useless gear. The give away is when one of these guys has a home gym with every piece of equipment known to man, and better than the best gym in town, yet they have a body that looks to have been built with a 35 pound kettlebell.
Hey, to me the advantage of the genesis jack is that you can change all the weights (empty the bar if you like), but with the Dead Wedge, you need a plate to be loaded, as that plate goes on the Wedge and provides the extra height so that Additional weights can be added. Hope this helps.
"The reason you would buy this is because you like the aesthetics..." "For most people I definitely wouldn't suggest it, it's way overboard, it's way too expensive..." This is the number 3 USEFUL item? Come on, man.
When it come to the deadlif thing I always just lifted to the rack handle thing and just change it. It might be a waste of energy but I never though about just putting something underneath the bar to easily change weight
I still like the deadwedge over the change plate version. I've used both. The wedge just seems to keep the weight a little more "locked in" when you're loading plates.
One benefit of the deadwedge that I don't think is explored enough: Resetting the bar position. The floor at my gym isn't super great, so the bar tends to settle in weird positions. Dead wedge gives you a place to set it so it don't go moving all the damn time.
Changing weight on change plates sucks. Did it for a year, it's surprising how annoying they are. Jacks are the way to go, but I imagine the wedge is a lot cheaper.
You are right about the dead wedge I was taught by my dad to roll the loaded barbell onto an unused plate to add or remove plates as an adolescent six months ago my 52-year-old self saw and purchased a dead wedge used it once, or twice now I'm back to the original method which my dad learned as a teenager in Vietnam If it ain't broke...
Instead of deadwedge, DL jack, or change plates... consider this “easy on the floor” alternative. Dead lift off of a 4x6 x 3/4 horse mat as follows. Orient the bar parallel to the 4 ft side. The bar ends will extend well beyond the edges of the horse mat. Any weights you add will clear the ground because of the 3/4 in mat thickness. When loaded, 3-4 plates will rest on the horse mat, but you can easily add/remove plates because of the overhang. Key advantages: you never have to roll or manipulate the bar. Weights go on and off like a piece of cake. My gym floor is all horse mats. I had one extra mat, so I doubled up. I wish I had done this years ago. Enjoy!
I used pipe flanges from the plumbing section of Home Depot to keep my rack from shifting. Screwed them into my platform behind the back legs and its saved me from having to bolt the rack down in my rental.
Agree with a lot of things, but with that said, Dead Wedges are not useless. Especially if the gym you go to doesn’t have a plethora of change plates laying around or if it’s busy at the time you go. Dead Wedges are small, light enough, and cheap enough to bring with you in your bag. If anything there was useless it’s the T-Bell.
You can also roll the inner plate onto the end of your lifting belt. I still bought the dead wedge and prefer it. The small plates at my gym are all iron.
I like the dead wedge...it has the little ramp to roll up easier. Once that bar loads up I think it will roll up the wedge angle much easier than going against the square edge of a plate. If you don’t want them send them to me 😀😀😀
Genesis Jack's are cheap???? the f are you talking about coop. That costs over 100 plus shipping and you have to load both sides of the bar separately. A titan full deadlift jack cost me $65 and had free shipping and works much better than any small jack. Only recommend a single side jack like the genesis jack to people who train at commercial gyms and want to take one in their gym bag.
Ditto. I went from a Rogue mini deadlift jack to a Titan full size deadlift jack. No way I’m going back to bending over and lifting, and then lowering each side separately. The full deadlift jack is so much easier. You stand upright, jack the whole bar up, load it, then lower it. Easier. Less steps. Standing upright. When you’re doing heavy deadlifts less jacking around (pun intended) is better.
That zoom on the longest thing I've ever held - 💀💀💀💀 Those neck devices are used a lot by aspiring race car drivers and professionals for all of the G Force load on your neck.
so you just told us that the deadlift jack at the beginning, that probably costs over $100, was "useful" and the deadlift wedge, that probably costs $10, is useless????? why wouldn't you just use a change plate all the time Coop???? because it isn't pretty, right Coop????? you just want cool stuff to show people you have on youtube and to impress your so-called "clients". i like a lot of your stuff and a lot of it is helpful but i'm gonna call a spade a spade
Love your one liners, it’s not the longest thing I’ve held in my hand 🤣😂😂🤣😂... love your content , big hello from Dublin.. thanks for your time, it’s much appreciated 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪
Coop. You need to buy the Tower 200. It is a body by jake product. It’s nothing new. It’s made to be hung on a door. But if you have a 2 by 2 power rack you can connect it to the rack. Great for warm ups and Accessory work.
Holy cow just saw the price of the Iron Neck there's already a head harness (I own one) it's nothing fancy just a leather strap around your head with a chain hanging down your neck to load weight for a fraction of the price to hit different angles you can lay on a bench in different angles.
I appreciate your in-depth review. Is it possible to do a quick review of the black rack in the background in the 13th minute? Thinking of buying one of those;)
I've seen people re-rack a bar on the flat section of the top of the sorinex j cup, have it roll off, hit the actual J cup part of the J cup, bounce off, hit the pins and bend the bar. they need to be thinner (overall), longer or angle up
The Oak Club James hook is ideal for anyone that has the Henny system and wants to make sure the bar never comes back and hits their rack. Not suggesting anyone let their bar swing back into them, just saying the Jcup offers the most protection.
Excluding competitive athletes or lifters.. full sets of bumper plates is useless for the extra cost. A good 45 lb set of bumper plates and the rest iron will save a lot of money, especially bought second hand
hahaha excluding lifters or athletes? So metal plates are beneficial for beauty pageant contestants and competitive powerlifters. I'm really trying to ignore that you said "competitive" athletes, all athletes of every age need to be doing some variations of Olympic lifts.
Glad someone finally said it about the dead wedge. Credit to them for selling people on them, but if you want a jack, get a jack. Otherwise find a 2.5 or a 5 and save some money.
3:45 I'm not an expert by any means, but from what I understand there isn't much benefit to doing unstable exercises (push ups or otherwise)? Like it doesn't actually translate to strength or balance in general but great video, thank you
Hey Coop, can you do a review on the stealth leg press rack attachment? It looks pretty unique and allows you to turn your power rack into a leg press. Due to the angle of the attachment, it seems a lot better than the cheaper titan version.
That James Hook could mitigate the need to move the J-Hooks back and forth if two people with different heights are squatting. The taller person would just have to squat down further to un-rack the bar.

Can you do a video on what that is and how you use it? Or reply with a comment with a link to where you purchased? I would like to know more!
Listen up here Daddy Coop, my bff bought me a hot pink deadlift wedge I happen to use to hold the back door open when I’m having a cook out! Not entirely useless!
I use a deadwedge every time i deadlift. i love them. I keep them in my gym bag. i dont want to roll 500 lbs + over a change plate. Use more than 95 lbs next time.
U can do like Klokov when changing weights: put a plate on the ground, roll the weights on the bar over the whole plate on the ground leaving only the tip
Hi Coop, I would love to know what flooring you have in this gym in this video, it’s real nice, love the Black with white fleck. Can you tell me what brand this is?
I work out with my brother in law who is much taller than me and he kills my uprights when we squat, those jcups would be great for when you need 2 different height cups!
I've been out of the gym so long now that Coop is starting to look like he actually lifts
Thanks...I think 🤪

"Is that a blackjack?"
It's a club, Coop. Blackjack is a game. Not to be confused with Jack Black, or a black deadlift jack

And funnily enough a blackjack is also a type of club

Refer to him correctly. He's dad.
Say what you want, I've used change plates as a deadlift jack, and totally prefer the dead wedge. I love that thing.
I've been rolling weights over change plates for years lol
And there’s nothing wrong with that. Still, I got the v1 jack as a gift and I absolutely love it
Same hahaha
Der Hof 2007 not sure how stable they would be. Honestly, I’d suggest just ordering one and seeing how that works. Do you always deadlift with a partner?
I did for a while too but I did get the Dead Wedge and I prefer it.
I'll wait for the Titan version of the Iron Neck. But they'll probably use set screws to tighten it to your skull

Nope. it's as much of a staple of my gym bag as my adipowers and pioneer cut belt.

A lot of the equipment you review is breath taking. That T bell you reviewed is great and I actually had a design for that but for compound equipment.
The iron neck is actually used by formula 1 drivers often to combact g forces
for the Iron Neck: its used by racecar drivers as well cause otherwise they wouldnt be able to resist the G's pulled in cornering
That's actually a great application I didn't consider. Thanks for that info.
@@GarageGymReviews Np at all, you've been a great influence on my own homegym so happy to share
