In this vfx react video, I'll be reacting to a list of VFX videos that get increasingly more complex as it goes on. From the first video to the last, we'll be seeing a variety of effects that are increasingly difficult to create.

If you look carefully at the old lady video you'll see some kinda distortion (stretch) on the edges....so i believe it's an AI camera movement because the subject is kinda slown down while BG is sped up
Hmmm interesting. Ai is getting crazy these days!
might be a reprojection of the depth distorted image with the woman as the pivot. The depth might be from AI
In the first video is using an effect called "slit scan". I think it was used the first time in Kubrick opening title for "2001: a space odyssey". You can buy a AE script (very well done) or making it manual. It's easy to find a tutorial online. By the way the artist is called Jonas Ersland. Others artists that has used the same technique are: Joe Pease and Francois Vogel
Bro! THANK YOU. I’m gonna research this further
ua-cam.com/video/DJ2hcC1orc4/v-deo.html , it also remind me of new tech developed by nvidia which converts 2d images to 3d with help of machine learning and complex math
I'm not sure it's slit scan. Looking at the other videos from his instagram, it seems he is using some sort of concave or convex mirror.
Help me figure these out fam!
How do you do the football one? Like you tape green screen to all the boxes?
I have had a lack of motivation on what to do in after effects, i haven't been passionate about making some cool vfx in almost a year but now i finally feel motivated again
The shot of the guy jumping in the pool is mesmerizing
These vids are crazy good. 🙌
I agree! 🔥🔥
Love this series! What a great way to showcase talented creators and videos to be inspired from 🔥
Brooo this was fun to shoot 🔥🔥
The lens distotions on the first one make me think about 360 compositing project.
1:11 i think that the lady and the road are one element going at a slow speed and the background is speeded up. Since the road texture is pretty consistent, it looks like it’s going as fast as background but it’s not.
So I think that the person shot with the lady and later without the lady and rotoscoped the buildings into it. (He has also done smart work with 3d camera here)
I think, just by quickly looking at the clip of course, that it was shot on a 360 cam. And then they rendered 2 clips from that one clip and one is zoomed in on the lady and the other zoomed out where it is really wide and then it's masked together.
@@thearabicdp Yes 360 cam is also a possibility
Could be telephoto lens dolly zoom effect whilst panning on a gimbal
4:07 so what's being done here is there is footage being recorded of the pool itself, and at the exact same time, there's another camera getting footage of him miming the actions of dipping his finger in, maybe dropping something to get that splash, and he then jumps into the pool, and in post he composites the pool from the 1st shot into the 2nd shot of him jumping, adding shadows in post (which you noticed), to give it more detail, and more than likely adding a type of texture mapping to get a water rippling light effect on the guy
🔥🔥
You're awesome 🤠
The first one, I’m guessing is a projection map of the original video onto a 3D cylinder. You can see that the distortion in the background around the sides… that’s my guess 🤷♂️
You're video is the best I saw today
Been waiting for someone to upload this type of content, thank you so much!! can't wait for more episodes.
I think In the first video can be done by using hdri and rotating it in blender where the lady is shot on green screen and the road is drafted in composite
I agree! A 360 hdri or dome and using "images as planes" with green screen or rotoscoped footage you can create the same effect, the only thing I see missing in the comments is that your have to parent the plane to the camera so that the illusion doesn't break.
@@rabidxuan yes that too
These are pretty incredible! I feel like you'd be able to master it into time.
Can we get the links of all the video effects artist or at least tag them in the description? Would love to see more of their work

@@Olufemii thank you!!!
Ant 🐜 man and that water 🌊💦 one are best of all ( in my opinion)
Skateboard Video: He just filmed himself doing a kickflip, roto'd himself out and replaced the BG. On a seperate plate he did a backflip infront of a greenscreen, which is keyed over the top of the footage.
You can even see the guys reflection before he jumps into the wall of water. That’s impressive
I can't so awaiting detailed explainations from you
I have a theory for the first one, to have background parallax this much relatively to the subject, and to have such extreme warp near the edge, my guess is it's shot in 360 camera, and you circle the shot around the subject. Then you need to track and stabilize the subject in compositing. I do not have a 360 camera to prove the theory, but the edge warp does remind me of the "small world" effect but in reverse. This makes me want to buy a 360 camera just to experiment, extremely cool effects.
Can't wait for other episodes in the series, it is really tough to find creators and their work on your own. Finding all of em at one place is like a dream come true.
Thanks for watching fam!
For the first video, I'm not sure it's slit scan nor AI/360 camera as others suggested. Looking at the other videos from his instagram, it seems he is using some sort of concave or convex mirror.
had a feeling this was gonna be some fairly basic effects with a long sales pitch in the middle
The Poole shot is just the pool shot rotated? Composited?
Nice concept, but we need to know who’s videos. Share name like @… #.. vs. Because we need to how to edit.ty

@@Olufemii Thank you for your interest and dedication.
Green lentils
dunno. but massively time consuming and as you state, that is the problem. there's way more things than we have time for while not getting spun off & ground into the floor by our employers treadmills.
if you wanna do stuff in blender, i have a playlist of 'stuff to do in blender' a collection of good tutorials > ua-cam.com/play/PLKHntx-usBEImkfAYrwFhX4fNissjAb56.html
without thinking too much on it, knocking down the wall of boxes with a sphere isn't too difficult in blender, you can add image or video as the material of the forward facing faces of the cubes making up the wall, there's tutorials on youtube for that. if you wanna try out blender it wouldn't be a bad project to start with. i think finding suitable video to base it on would be the difficult bit but you could do some other spin on it, there's endless stuff you could knock down.. but the player, his kick & his reaction, meh.
💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🚨🚨🚨🚨
The pink top lady I’m guessing has been Roto out, the background is a different video. The pink lady has been placed over rotating background.
The lady one looks like a camera projections
how this water pool effects works
0:29 what is the name of this effect?
I'm surefor the Skateboard VfX... he used A CG double... He Scanned Himself As A CG model.. Rigged it and animated it.. then composited it into the shot
1:25 probably not a cut. Would be way too seamless if it was. She grabbed a miniature that was placed in the foreground and lined up to a real car from another plate which was put over the toy until she grabbed it.
6:40 Hi please mention the last VFX video I'd
