Haha you were slightly wrong there. Butter Chicken is rather complex compared to other Indian stuff when cooked the right way. So is Biryani. And I've noticed this in the west as well, that the curries (even thick ones) are served with Rice. Generally we go with Dry -Thick curries with Roti/Naan. And Wet / Thin curries with Rice. Another tip would be, if it's not too spicy, go with Naan for more flavor. If you want to mellow it out, add some rice instead of flatbread, should help with the spice :)
