Looks and sounds great. Spent a lot of hours on a 706 German diesel. The 2nd time the TA went out, Dad took the TA lever off so we couldn't use it anymore. The '56 style shifter was a great improvement.
I have a 706 with d 282 in it. Like your swap.If you double clutch an burp the throttle a little bit between clutching it will shift better. I'll have to watch all your videos on this,it just popped up in my suggestions
Yes you are so right if you DOUBLE CLUTCH IT decrease your throttle back a little bit and just like a big truck then you shift because on my farm I've all International tractors and of course drove all the older trucks the INTERNATIONAL 2674s 2554s 5,000 pay Stars list goes on and on with International trucks and the Ford 9000s LOUISVILLE'S and even the Mack with a double shifters LOL the R600s! And Kenworths yes yes yes!! you double clutch it and you hardly have any grinding between if anything at all between 2nd going to 3rd or the 4th especially when you're starting out down the road to go road speed with the tractor. International Harvester tractors are just so amazingly adaptable and impressive they will last forever longer than we live as long as they're taken care of right!
Absolutely incredible. I personally think it would look better if the engine was painted red to match the rest of the tractor, just to throw people off a little bit when they first see it, but that's just me. I'm kind of curious as to how fast it can get because it looks like you were moving a pretty good speed, but video tends to mess with that. I also think it'd be cool to see how it would handle farming work compared to an original 706. Beyond that, more projects like this would be cool but I understand that it takes money and time to do so, both of which I'd more than understand if you don't have enough of, or if you don't have the desire to do it as well is perfectly understandable. Aside from that, just making videos on whatever is going on with your farm is still interesting enough to draw a crowd. There's plenty of channels on here that do that sort of thing, so if it's something you want to do then I'm sure you could do it. This project alone sets you apart from the other farming channels out there.
@@jamesciolkosz8827 They're still painted red in modern heavy duty trucks, but I was just saying that I think this one in particular would look good in red so that it could mess with people's first glance of it before realizing that its not a normal 706.
A 706 clutch and rear end with the 2 cubic inches less engine than the 806 had. Hope the rear end can take it because the shifting of the old TA's with 33% difference of speed and 45% increase in power was a problem on the IH Rear ends.
Well I just read your comment on the TAs problems to the rear ends? Since when? There's never any problem with International Harvester rear ends and they're attractive pullers at 466s attached to that same rear end and tractor pulled with them so that $359 Cummins yes it's very good engine legendary to International engines and it will suit that 706 very well! Just add the 56 shifting to it and 56 series platform deck and it'll be a lot better
Nice job done very pretty tractor personally I like the black motor it makes it stand out that you done a good job and it's been changed over most people wouldn't even know it's changed over if it was painted red without identifying your tags keep up the good work would like to see it on a plow or a disc see you at work a little bit had me a good video great job good luck
Looks good! Just need to paint it red and it will look cooler. I see some other comments arguing for keeping it black, mostly to make it known that you changed it. I think it would be cooler unknown, at least by the common person. Makes it all the more cooler.
Very nice I watch all your videos. I’ve enjoyed it. I have a 19604 706 International deisil it won’t run hard to crank for the last five years so watching this video are you all your videos and others on the same to order, my Cummins conversion it From my tractor from the Lemans, he should be here next week. I see something on your tractor I believe is a tack drive coming off the front. I’m curious to know where you got it if possible thank you
That's a beauty of a 706. I also like the Cummins repower. I helped my granddad do an engine out rebuild on the stock IH mill. They sure are pretty when you take them apart, clean them, and shoot a coat of paint on them. Do you have any concerns of the difference in hp that the Cummins delivers vs. the gearing, and transmission?
Thank you! I don't think we will do anything too heavy that would cause issue with the powertrain. I upgraded to 1066 components during the rebuild so I think we will be okay.
I'm not a diesel fan per se but that is one good sounding engine! And btw, as long as you're satisfied with the results that's all that matters anyway....right? Thanks for taking us along!
I would like to chat with you a bit if possible, I’m doing the same thing with my gas 706 right now and I have a 93 5.9 I’m putting in it with Leamans kit. Tractors is split ready to go but my engine seems to be a little bit different seeing it came out of a pickup
This whole project has got me itchin to drop my 6.9 IDI into my old 400 or maybe into that old M sitting in the field. I know folks have done it -but nobody seems to remember how they did it. And those that do recall how it went, just don't want to offer up any ideas on how it was done. If anyone has any details, I'm all ears.
@@landonbrown5271 sweet! I was wondering why you went with the 706 platform, since 177hp would have been more than even a 1206 would have had. Will the tranny and rear end hold up? I don't know what your plans are for the tractor, just curious again😁
@@darrellyoder2602 This was a tractor a good neighbor and friend had and it was the right price and good shape. I'm not too concerned as a lot the hours it gets will be stationary PTO work on a grain auger in the fall. It will probably run a mower or other light duty pulling jobs but no heavy tillage for extended periods of time.
Hi there Landon! Thank you for sharing your day to day farming activities. I hope you had a good Christmas and New Years. I have a Question for you. Can you talk about in terms of what the 706 weighs? How big of a trailer does someone need to transport this kind of a tractor. I’ve thinking about buying one as kind of a play toy, and to also move snow. I’ve seen some go for around $8,000. Thoughts?

how much hp does it put out?
