I doesn't only happen with your videos though. I'm bilingual and UA-cam somehow thinks I prefer the dubbed version even though I have been listening to German and English original audios for years. It doesn't even assume a preference for a language as it changes both languages to the dubbed computer voice.
I would have installed rigid panels on the roof and mount them. One gust of wind and your can fall and break. Also would do a drip loop and a gland seal where the water doesn't get in. Also the wires will flap in the wind so would suggest using some kind clips to keep the wires on the shed wall.
I’ve been using solar products since 2020. My hydroponic system including grow lights has been running 24/7 on solar for over a year. Your EP Delta Pro is a monster. I have a smaller unit as well as DIY systems. Battery capacity is measured in watt hours. Inverter power is measured in watts. Solar panels also have wattage ratings. I’ve seen plans for their use on pergola roofs. Another project idea?
Jacques you radiate so much gardening goodness ☀ I've been fixing up my shed recently too and it's nice to see what you've done with yours. It's lovely how many windows are on yours. I recently got a $30 solar light for the shed with a pull string switch and it's a great upgrade but your shed upgrades are next level 😂Sending good vibes from Albuquerque.
Built in Benches are catch-all's. Ones hinged to the walls and folded up, when not in use, are less likely to become one. From experience, just a thought. Also, like tools, 45degree square, adjustable square, carpenter square, 4' T-square all hung on 1-2 longer peg hooks. Multiple size levels hung on one hook. Put a piece of thin plywood in the rafters to store seldom used items. If those are 8' walls hang baskets from the rafters. Lots of ways to grow 'space" in a small shed at zero cost. Nice job on the build Jacques
Once you get the dc cables extended, bring them down straight to the bottom of the shed, then across, then up into the side of the vent. That way you won’t get water tracking down the cables into the wall. Also, flexible conduit will keep it tidier. Also, the skirting round the shed, would be nicer looking if you got some coloured pvc and fixed it to the base. It’s still off the ground so you’ll have enough air in there to stop rot.
For the Gods sake, just drill a frickin hole under the eve and pull the cord through. 🙄 Use some silicone around the wire entry point to keep out the water.
Jacques, my favorite UA-camr! I’m hoping to add solar to my shed. My shed walls are so filled with tools, no room for pegboard so I admire the neatness. I wish I could find more content on garden shed ideas so really enjoyed this, especially as I need to expand the space to park a couple tractors. Your shed is a nice size.
Same here. Tools up everywhere. However considering taking them down to put up pegboards. This way we can put up narrow tool between snow shovels, garden rakes, roof rake for snow, push broom, levels, extension ladders, fishing rods etc. Snow blower and mower take a lot of space. Don't ask me where anything is except for the tool box on work benches.
The one thing I forgot to address was where the heck I plan on keeping all my long handle tools! I will be adding some storage to the outside of the shed!
What i like about your videos is that Kevin is EPIC, but you are more grounded, more accesible for the mere mortals that struggle with 2 tomatoes and one sad loofa
I would get some cable covers to put over your outside electrical wires and they can be painted to match your exterior walls plus they wont be loose. Of course you might already have this planned after you get your extension wires.
Thank you so much for this!! Because of you, we ordered a Tuff Shed and will have it delivered later this month. Love the ideas for how to make it even better!
On the dehydrator...my wife and I have the same one. We found that with smaller things "read that as leeks, peppers, and the like) they would drop through. A mess and a pain to get out. The dehydrator company sells these fitted plastic sheets that close off some of the gaps, while not cutting the air flow.
Around the base of your shed just add a “skirt” using woods, vinyl siding, etc. You can scribe it to fit the contour of the ground very easily and then paint it to match your shed.
Excellent organization and updates to the shed! When you put up the gutter system for the water collection, remember to put up the guard so it's less clean up for you. I think the wired garbage could have worked for drying if you had multiple stacks into one another and spread the peppers among them, leaving the very bottom empty for ventilation, but the dehydrator works, too. 👍🏿
Yeah I think If I had them single layer they would dry just fine. Good call on leaf filters, at least one side of it would be catching leaves all the time.
LOOKING organized Jacques. Very nice. I bought a heavy duty deep plastic pooper scooper shovel, new. Saves time and energy over a trowel to scoop garden soil.
Great video update on how you're making use of the shed. What a difference having space for stuff AND being able to find it later when needed. 🙃 Was hoping to see how you secured your solar panels to the shed roof to prevent them blowing away in the Santa Ana winds as I've been planning to add solar to my shed too. Thanks for sharing what's working along with any adjustments needed to make it better!
It looks great. Good job on the organization. That has to feel so good to go in and get what you need and know when it’s gone from its place. Pus, nice to have a work space. I’m looking forward to your next project. I hope to get an Eco flow soon. Thank you 😊
*PAUSE* I love that you got a pruner. I would have just got a chef knife, made sure it was sharp, and went to town on the wheat. Hindsight/20/20. I love your shed! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love the shed! I wish I had the space for one. I can totally see it being your man cave. Add some tunes…maybe a mini fridge… I’m looking forward to seeing your mushroom growing video. I bought the boomr bin kit and I’m trying to grow lions mane.
Love the shed Jacques... I can't wait to upgrade my shed situation one of these days; I'm planning on going with a Tough Shed after seeing your experience so far. Cheers...
I put a small section of gutter over my back deck to stop the deluge into my sliding door. The gutter drains into a rain barrel that supplies my meat rabbits cages. ¼" tubing to nipples.
@@jacquesinthegarden Yeah, since each section of the hutch requires independent water, it's the only way I could keep from watering them daily. My chickens just have a nipple bucket I have to fill monthly.
I actually have one of them big ice scoops cause I like it. My son works for the restaurant supply so I asked for a lot from him then big old bins that stores I don’t know dishes or ice. I ask him for that. I ask him for so much for my garden Trash bins. The ones with the wheels on it. I even use the RESTURANT supply dustpans the broom and the dustpan because it is so cool it’s almost like a pooper scooper, but I I use that a lot. I have made places where I can hang my tools at, but they’re in mydifferent parts of the garden and some in the garage. I have a garage and we use tools on both sides. I got those nice awesome hooks for like a shovels and rakes from Amazon and I have them to wear where they’re at when I walk in.
UA-cam decided to dub me in 5 other language and randomly select one for the viewer! Sorry I didn't select this but apparently English is the default now and should work fine! I wish I could pull off a full Bulgarian video but there would be a lot of UMMMs as I remember the words haha.
Hi Jacque, I am following a similar path with my top Shed. I already have my EcoFlow. Have you thought about running the solar panel wires through your ridge vent? The vent itself is just a matted material that should be able to be separated enough to get the plug through and would look a lot cleaner. Just a thought. Great job on the channel and love following everything you’re doing.
Hey Jacques: my husband won't let me put my EcoFlow solar panels on the garage roof because he doesn't want to perforate the roofing material to anchor the panels. How did you attach yours against wind etc? 💚
hi jacques 🤗 i heard you in english and feel like i missed out 😂🤣 great shed organization. i use a dehydrator for my seeds, fruits and veggies. i had to return my dining room to its proper use, but only have space for a table and one metal shelf outside. i make it work. glad the chicken wire is a good temp solution. look forward to seeing the finished winter project. tfs
ooh. I have a "lean-to" or covered side porch that used to have functioning outlets, but now they aren't working and I was looking for a portable solution for exterior power for tools since that is very down on the list of home repairs we have identified. all portable things that live outside. Or as a very chill power back up for storm outages, just things like phones, laptops. Maybe a back up fridge. I will research, it seems like it has worked great in the greenhouse.
@jacques we need a video along the lines of: "if I could only grow 7 (or 10) varieties of tomatoes for the reagbof my life" or "best tomato/pepper/___________ varieties for beginners." I'm looking for the best tomatoes with the following categories in the following order: 1. Taste 2. Heat resistant (we get 100+ temps) 3. Disease resistant I had a huge problem with spider mites this year :(
I looked at the Ecoflow solar panel system and the very basic one is about $300-$400 but the larger ones can be $2,000-$4,000! Wow. I guess it’s money vs. time but for us we have outdoor outlets so we are fine just plugging in.
Yeah, I find it's a novelty unless you want to spend a fortune. I spent $10,000 rigging my 17’ camper with enough power to do anything but run the AC. Didn't get a penny of that back on the resale.
There are for sure diy options that exist but they require more leg work and gathering of parts. I've watched a few videos on it and it is entirely doable. The downside is how they look and how flexible they are with use cases.
As with all newer technology, prices should come down over time. Eco flow batteries are already far more affordable than when they started. We have our sights on this big battery to power our well during power outages. Hoping in the next year or two that will be accessible to us.
@Andrea-si2vs I've been watching solar for at least 20 years, it's barely changed, other than better batteries. But batteries are not solar. $10,000 for a camper in 2020 is not prices coming down. That was 4 panels and 2 batteries. The batteries were $1000 each.
The concrete is really uneven and broken already so it is actually more a nuisance than helpful. Removing it will also give me like an extra 4-6" of height without making the lean-to taller than the shed
I had to laugh when Jacques said, "This is my sickle." I could hear Crocodile Dundee saying: "No, this is a knife"... Several years ago I bought a 50 gallon tub full of 'garden stuff' for $5 at my local thrift store. It was filled with lots of drip irrigation tubing, various small garden tools & an old sickle. The sickle is 2 or 3 times the size of Jacques' sickle, with a short splintered wooden handle & it was quite rusted. I set out to rehabilitate it, making it useful again. I sanded the splintery handle smooth & sanded the rust off the curved blade. It is made of a high carbon steel & cleaned up nicely. Then I decided to sharpen it. Oops! I got it sharp enough to nearly cut off a finger. After I got the bleeding under control, I oiled the blade & buried in the bottom of that tub! I didn't even want to look at it again.
You must not use long handled tools? Or store them elsewhere? Love the idea of putting the dehydrator out there; i shred zucchini for drying, so it makes a HUGE mess. How will you manage summer heat? Your windows will help for sure, but will it be enough?
Biggest issue I have is safety of panels on the roof and fixing them in a way that compromises the roof's water tightness, 😂 your method is probably fine in your climate, but here in uk, they would be flying next door by the afternoon.
I need a shed. Useless greenhouse is currently storage ‘cause summer is unbearable and keeping it cool is next to impossible. Will have to get my own property to get one until then…..

@@jacquesinthegarden it’s nice that it can be in different languages though. Could probably even use that filter on videos like these to learn different languages. This would make talking about hobbies with different language speaking neighbors a lot easier and bridge some gaps.
I think 1/4 inch hardware cloth or whatever it is called in San Diego would be mucg better than chicken wire and would last indefinitely.. Much stronger and a 1/4 mesh. No mice can get through it ever. I think the chicken wire will just get the rodents planning how to circumvent it. All hardware places sell hardware cloth It also comes in 1/2 inch mesh but you need 1/4. I don't know why it's called that. It comes in manageable rolls.
It is a pain and drawn out. Either way I would still be on the hook for the electrical which is a nightmare with SDGE. Last January our bill went up 3x for the same usage ending up being $550. That is with no high draw appliances either... So I am very careful about adding any extra load to our electrical.
I can run power for you for free if you would like I’m an HVAC contractor and would love to check out your garden since I am an avid gardener as well Love watching your channel
Nice shed! Having a stick-built, 8 x 10 shed has been a gamechanger for my gardening. Just a thought about installing gutters for rain harvesting. You've got shingles that can leach arsenic and other contaminants. For this reason, I'd only use water coming off the shed for ornamental plants. It's a bummer but safer. Metal or solid surfaces like the glass or poly panels of your greenhouse are a dif story, probably o.k. for watering all plants.

I am sorry but I started watching this video because it said solar shed, but there was a lot of other stuff involved rather than the basics of the solar shed and its operation which was my focus. Stopped watching when I found the title was misleading. Not trying to be a bad person just saying and letting you know.

Oh man I want a real sickle now so bad! Sorry you cut yourself but happy to hear you were able to restore it so well!
Will you do a video about the nixtomolization process? Pretty please?!?!
I used unistrut to mount the solar panels to the roof.
You must not use long handled tools? Or store them elsewhere?
Love the idea of putting the dehydrator out there; i shred zucchini for drying, so it makes a HUGE mess.
How will you manage summer heat? Your windows will help for sure, but will it be enough?
Pupppppopies ❤
Dream shed
I wish I had that kind of money to make garden additions
Biggest issue I have is safety of panels on the roof and fixing them in a way that compromises the roof's water tightness, 😂 your method is probably fine in your climate, but here in uk, they would be flying next door by the afternoon.
Dream shed for me 😢
You need something better than that fencing for the bottom of the shed, my dad's shed wound up with a very large bee hive underneath it.
I am leaning towards stainless steel wool for filler and blockers!
Its a 4 can ammunition storage caddy
I think it was marketed as a fishing item since it is all plastic but that is the basic idea
I need a shed. Useless greenhouse is currently storage ‘cause summer is unbearable and keeping it cool is next to impossible. Will have to get my own property to get one until then…..
Summer greenhouse is hard to balance for sure! Adding shade clothe helped a lot!
How did you get Eco Flow sponser??? I've been using Eco Flow for a year now off grid and we would not have made it with out them.
This seems like a test to test different narrations in other languages apart from English.
You can adjust the language of the narrator in the settings under audio track.
I do wonder when the original English video will come out.
I tried lol English wasn't on option
UA-cam decided to dub me in 5 other language and randomly select one for the viewer! Sorry I didn't select this but apparently English is the default now and should work fine!
@@melanieg760 no english option wasnt available. But now it seems to be.
I AM SO CONFUSED

The amazon bitly link says it's invalid!
They wanted me to share it with 1 day left so I guess their promotion ended on amazon, I will remove the link!
Someone built a time machine and changed the outcome of World War 2. We are now speaking German

I'm confused? Why don't you get a permit and run the conduit and wire yourself?
It is a pain and drawn out. Either way I would still be on the hook for the electrical which is a nightmare with SDGE. Last January our bill went up 3x for the same usage ending up being $550. That is with no high draw appliances either... So I am very careful about adding any extra load to our electrical.
if you spray your chicken wire black or brown, it wont catch your eye as much
I can run power for you for free if you would like
I’m an HVAC contractor and would love to check out your garden since I am an avid gardener as well
Love watching your channel
It is tempting but it is honestly the electrical bill I fear more than anything now!
Should i coment in another language as well 😅
😅
The wire going into the vent like that looks pretty janky, The wire should have its own hole that its siliconed into
i got out and came back its english
Is this german? LOL
French translation I think.
Did you forget you are USA
He's trolling us😅

@@jacquesinthegarden no apologies needed! Was super interesting and I watched half already 😂😂
that cable looks like poop, drill a hole and thread it through. caulk both sides!!
It for sure looks terrible haha, my initial thought was to drill but I am not ENTIRELY sure how I want to lay everything out yet.
Keeping your mini hoe in the shed is something you might want to keep on the down low 😂😂😂

@@jacquesinthegarden lol! ok cool ill try watching again now!
I am sorry but I started watching this video because it said solar shed, but there was a lot of other stuff involved rather than the basics of the solar shed and its operation which was my focus. Stopped watching when I found the title was misleading. Not trying to be a bad person just saying and letting you know.
Can’t understand this language.
