At his stage we may aswell just come out and say it, the x100 pro is the greatest camera phone ever made.
Didn't expect X100 to trash S24 so bad....The only thing X100 needs to work on is highlights control, it really goes overboard sometimes, but this can be fixed in software processing if they want. Great comparison as alwasys man, thanks!

Good content! I prefer the Vivo in most of this scenarios. Will be interesting to see how good the X100 Ultra will be considering the X100 is not even the flagship but seems to be superior vs the S24 Ultra in this and many other reviews.

After watching more than 30 videos about Vivo x100 pro now i can confidently say that Vivo x100 pro beats S24 ultra easily. With iPhone it fought neck to neck.

More ultra low light shots would be interesting, Samsung phones tend to turn bard black into purple and loose composure very fast. I'd be interesting to see how much more light would Vivo take in the toughest conditions...
Can you make a test of shutter speed of this two machines...? The S24 ultra that I have produce in 80% blurry photos of moving subjects in low light situations.
I think the reason Samsung doesn't change the ultrawide camera is because they nailed the software tuning just like google did with their pixel 2~5 phones . Even on the S21 ultra the ultrawide was the most consistently good camera . Too bad it's not as high quality of a sensor that is found in flagship these days .
It's time they go along with the times. 1/2" 50 mp f 2.0 as absolute minimum. Current uw cannot handle low light scenes
Samsung's Ultrawide is getting long in the tooth now, and will be replaced with a new 50Mp Ultrawide. At least in the S25 Ultra. Exact tech spec of this new lens is lacking though.

There is a 24 mp option in expert raw of s24 ultra, which can save images in jpeg format. I would like to see a comparison of viva x100 pro vs that 24mp of s24 ultra

Great detailed review. Just wanted to know if Samsung has fixed the shutter lag (it's really terrible on s23 with moving subjects), and is there any lag on vivo x100 pro too?
I think it's gotten better... although I did get some motion blur on a few shots with the s24 ultra... it's the opposite for the x100 Pro... it's slower with the shutter but can avoid motion blur better somehow😂

What Samsung needs to change :
- Lower the default exposure by 2 stops
- Increase contrast by 1-2 stops
- Lower the saturation by 1-2 stops
If Samsung's engineers apply this, the Galaxy S will most likely be top 🔝 2 if not top 🔝 1 in photo 📸 .
Or simply, Samsung should copy the Photographic Style of iPhones and allow everyone to create their own photographic profile 🤷🏽♂️

Ps: it's pretty clear that in 90% of your night shots, the S24 Ultra doesn't use its 5X zoom, but a crop on the main sensor , use Camera Assistant to force the S24 Ultra to use the sensor you choose from the interface.
I am a Samsung knight and in terms of software my s23 ultra and s24 are superior to the vivo and even in terms of ecosystem. But the vivo has the best low light video I've seen on android

Can i ask you is the x100pro much upgraded sins the x70pro ultra i found it at a bargain price. Im using s21 u but screen pixel problems dropt it.

The fact that the X100 Pro spanks the S24 Ultra and after buying the X100 Pro I have enough money left in my pocket to go and buy some Galaxy Buds2 Pro or a Galaxy Watch 6 just shows how outrageously mediocre Samsung's flagship Is. I get it, "it's a Samsung" but for the asking price they should've done better. The Vivo sharpens quite a bit but compared to the Samsung, it seems soft, that's just a horrible trait to have in my books.
And idk about you but the 3x lens on the S22 Ultra series onwards is just not good, it's a 1/3.52" 10 MP sensor which is actually a downgrade from the S21 Ultra's 1/3.24" sensor albeit it ain't that big of a difference. Anyways, these sensors just can't see much stuff at night and rely too much on processing, that's especially bad for zoom lenses because the slightest movement can hamper your photos. I use an S22 U and I just can't stand this 3x sensor but I love the look that 3x gives. If you want to see the quality of the 3x sensor then just take a RAW photo in middling lighting conditions and see how bad the noise and color noise situation is.
The fact that the 5x telephoto lens on the S24 Ultra produces the same results as a cropped in shot from the VIvo's X100 Pro is laughable to me. They hyped it up so much but got beaten by a camera that can not only do 4.3x but also take macros lmao
The only saving grace I see is daytime portraits, I think Vivo goes too crazy over here, too much contrast, too much smoothening on the skin, highlight retention is not too great. Samsung is too saturated. But the best part about those shots is that they have decent contrast, not too much not too little and the background blur I much prefer the Samsung.
For night time portraits, I see nothing has changed since the S22 Ultra, that's because of 2 reasons, 1.) The awful telephoto lens, 2.) Samsung's processing. Samsung's obsession with noise reduction is a weird one, they reduce 40% of the noise and remove 70% of the detail usually. 21:46 highlights my points and I have had the same experience with my S22 Ultra for the past year and a half lmao
UW shots are the weakness of the X100 Pro imo and that's because Vivo kinda cheaped out on the sensor. Still, Samsung's best comes out on their UW for some reason, they fight tooth and nail with all the noise and provide such a nice shot it just baffles me that they can't provide the same treatment with their telephoto lens.
I'm a contrast guy like you and hate Samsung's overly "flat" photos. They boost shadows so much that there's no contrast left. They forget that high dynamic range isn't just a brighter shot but a shot that has both the deepest blacks and the brightest whites.
Although I do agree that the S24 Ultra has taken a massive leap forward with software, I don't think Samsung is going to keep bringing huge hardware upgrades year over year, I'm pretty sure it'll take like 2-5 more years to get a system comparable to the X100 Pro in terms of hardware. I really liked Samsung back in the day, till the S21 Ultra days but they just went downhill and everyone else improved drastically. Like, the fact that the S24 Ultra is "the underdog" when it's a tier above in pricing just shows how much Samsung has fallen off

@@rexstorm2137 I didn't though, I'm just giving the X100 Pro the love it deservedly should get. I would've switched if my phone were older. I don't think the jump from an S22 Ultra to this phone is drastic enough to upgrade, I went from an S8 to a midrange m31 to the S22 Ultra so that was a huge jump. Apart from the battery I'm "ok" with it. Besides, I use gcam and the stock camera's pro mode and I'm happy with it.

Night time ... vivo is indeed better ..the noise reduction is very very good ...
S23 ultra vs s22u vs s24 ultra i actually found no difference both in day time and night ...i think video is slightly better currently on s23u but that may change with uodates to s24 ultra as they sort out the bugs...
While comparing i kept the samung aspect ratio 3 by 4 that produced the best images very very similar in detail etc to the vivo as that has slightly different aspect ratio...i could not find a 3 by 4 toggle in the x100 pro camera app ...

The detail level is the same... the reason you feel the s24 is mote detailed is coz it doesn't hv the sharpening artifacts that vivo does... I gave Samsung credit for lower over sharpening but the details aren't good enough yet for 200mp
