I kinda love the gimmick, especially Emerald as green and green. Would be awesome if we could run a modern emulator like mGBA, but the market for this is so small, still, cool that it works at all, thanks for sharing!
"You don't have to do this, this is just me being extra" Sir, you don't have to do any of this. The whole project is extra, it's why we're here 😂 Love the video!
Nintendo has really moved on to targeting switch emulation. After taking down RomHax and all the other major rom sites they haven't really pushed that hard into older emulation.
I absolutely love these! My dream (though I don't know how feasible it would be) would be to have a disc with Pokemon Stadium 2 and all the Gen 1 and 2 games, and have Stadium be able to interface with them as if it were in an N64 connected via transfer pak. It would be so amazing to be able to sit down and just play them without having to futz around with possibly losing battery-backed saves or the sometimes fiddly Transfer Pak
I would love my own Pokemon Games Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald all on their own Discs for a home console like an Xbox with all that amazing artwork printed on the discs and for the cases 😃
I would recommend adding some padding (junk files) to the image as smaller size images can sometimes have burn issues. Also make sure it's a dvd-r and not a dvd+r.
For your saving issue with Emerald, try saving twice. Gen 3 Pokemon (FR/LG/S/R/E) had something in the saving where each save made a backup, and the emulator can have trouble accessing that backup. I read a bit on that issue a while back when I couldn't get saves to work on my GBA SP Omega cartridge (emulator).
Do you think you'd be interested in trying to do something similar to this on Nintendo Switch? Like making your own Switch cartridge and box for a homebrew game or something? I'd kill to see custom Switch games physically.
Is it possible that the emulator isn't actually using Flash 128k? Like, the configuration is not being applied correctly. I remember saves working on my friend's xbox back in the early/mid 2000s, but the game was Leaf Green. Anyways, before clicking on the video I kinda hoped this was a native version of Emerald since it has been decompiled after all, same concept behind the Mario 64 port.
@@BelowAverageGaming perhaps @Agret meant to say that the emulator reads the config from the dvd, and so it's trying to save it onto there? I honestly have no idea, can you verify that you have a config file for the emulator anywhere on your HDD?
Yes, I mention it in the video. Its the .ini file. Edited and configured with the proper locations. But like I said, even if I run it as a normal emulator from the HDD, same results
I like the idea, but like others said, Nintendo is going scorched earth just because. It's unfortunate. The dvd drives in these things are also at their last bit of life. I always recommend modding them first thing so you don't have to put more wear on them. The person who did that box art did a great job, it's not easy. What kind of file did they end up as? Just a normal png or jpg, and then you just print it?
Hey random idea here, but it might be worth a shot to throw a .sav file for emerald from an outside emulator into the folder on the disc and see if it can load from it or overwrite it
this big ass emulator disc is the quintessential american experience i think, compared to the LATAM emulator scene where every one had a playstation 2 (opposed to the xbox) and had “that one emulation disc” that had all the games ever made
If you’re ftping the files on your Xbox then it’s already modded. What would be the point of making a disc for the old optical drive when you could easily just run it from your custom dashboard off the hard drive? Which if it’s modded should already have upgraded the hard drive anyway. I guess it’s just a “because you can” type thing.
@@datboi-g3o actually yea lol…..just think this video was made just to make a video as it’s kind of pointless. I myself have done literally everything you can do to the OG Xbox modding wise and just pointed out there’s no need to make a disc other than a party trick, but then again this dude is like 10yrs younger than me so I kinda get it. @@datboi-g3oYou sound like you came from reddit :D . /j On the other hand, it's probably just done cuz it would be awesome to have a replica that almost looks official and just cuz it seems fun and he can.
I don't get why you made an .iso file, as it looks like you could've just burned the files to the disc and be done with it. Also ImgBurn also has an option to create an ISO.
I honestly didn't even think about that! But in hindsight, I think it would be pretty rude to change the name of an emulator that I didn't develop myself. Insult to the real developers
Have you ever seen Pokémon Yellow on the Super Nintendo? ua-cam.com/video/e8SKOCk1FJg/v-deo.htmlsi=o_dOlTkPCLEhO3tF
The disk and case are absolutely beautiful, wtf. I'd collect just the cases for the hell of it.
Nintendo might imprison this guys entire bloodline for this
Pokémon: Live and Reloaded
Pokémon: Combat evolve
Pokémon: San Andreas
Pokemon: Motorsport
Pokémon: Nuts & Bolts
Damn that's a rare deep cut.

I 100% agree! honestly, it would be cool if this video inspires somebody to fix this emulator haha

Here from r/gameboy. This video is great and honestly Emerald on the Xbox is just right.
The colour is a good combo
I’m not even surprised anymore. I’m playing Pokemon black 2 on my iPhone 13 with a ps4 controller. Life is pretty good😂
Because of the Pokémon source code leaks everywhere even more will be possible
LOL that's fucking sick

The question is how much longer before Nintendo takes this down.
Nintendo has really moved on to targeting switch emulation. After taking down RomHax and all the other major rom sites they haven't really pushed that hard into older emulation.
was just thinking the same thing i mean they shut down Ryujinx
I love how the content for this channel is 90% helpful and then the other 10% are bangers just like this 💀

Somewhere far away, you can faintly hear Bringus sobbing, as his video was used as inspiration for a project using optical media
Oh boo hoo let me play a sad song for you on the world’s smallest violin…
trump won.
Man that custom box art just rubs me the right way, loved watching this project
Glad you enjoyed!
Man, great content as always. Becareful, big N is hunting channels with their games played on emulators.
If you can do this with gameboy games it could be a great way for gb studio users to ship their games on the og xbox
Whoever does this first will be a genius
Saw this first on FB, then followed the link from reddit
Per usual, absolutely fantastic! I love these projects!
Thanks bro!

This is super cool! I really want to try this.
FYI. Save State doesn't suit very well on Pokemon Games. Wanna know why ? You have to finish the game first.

It can save but it uses the path of the ROM so when it's stored on a disc it's trying to save to the disc instead of the xbox hard drive.
@Agret It doesn't matter if it's on the hard drive or the disk. The saves work in the same manner regardless

If the disk image is very small, you should add some type of large dummy file.

U dont know how aesthetic the physical copy was.
Like a cursed item
With the recent Pokemon leak I was almost expecting a native port from the source code lol
My guess is the emulator is using the right save format for Pokemon because Pokemon uses the largest avabile save format for GBA retail games.
Are you able to share the box art you made?
This feels like a dream

I wonder if you could use one of the ISOs on a modded 360. I may actually give it a try.
Possible to make a Shinning Force collection for PS3?
You can’t trade emerald to any Xbox version of Ruby tho

The green console with the green game.
Where can i buy them❔
What about with the source code ? With the new leak it won’t allowed you to run the game whitout the need of the emulator?
Here’s hoping Nintendo doesn’t get butt hurt because emulation😅
