The 350 Does Not Like The Dual Plane.

  • We took the HQ out racing at the drags again and found we went backwards with the dual plane set up. The car is also having oil fouling issues now as well. So in this video the heads come of to get some machine work done to them and we have a look at what is going on.

    Hey joe thanks for the update on the SBC. You have been stout and honest about your run times and engine issues, Don't worry about shakedown issues brother, They happen. It takes guts and determination to put your car and engine build on that start line brother so well done just on that level. Would like to see more on the commodore 304 brother keep us informed on how you are going, And any updates on your ute and SBC cheers mate.

    Not sure what kind of parts you have available in the junkyards over there but if there were any vehicles that came with a sbc between the years of 1987 to 1995 that had swirl port heads on them you might want to grab them? Charles Servedio Head Porting and flow bench channel here just did a series on how to port those. So far he's over 200 ex cfm flow and 300 in. flow @.700" lift.
    Those are fantastic numbers for heads that people thought were boat anchors since they came out. If they're over there you should be able to get them cheap? They are center bolt heads that came on the pickup trucks over here. In all those videos in that series he is also working on ports that uses the factory valves so look for those. He said he's going to do a few more things with the factory valve size ports as well. IIRC he was only about 5 cfm down with the factory ex valve size and around 250 in cfm @ .600" lift.😎👍

    Do a leak down test on all the cylinders applies 100psi to cyl and checks percent of leakage. 3-7 %ok 10% stuffed . Inlet Manifold could have a vacuum leak ie sucking oil .
    True ede rpm /similar produces good mid tq but will go to 6500rpm on a 350
    Look for a good cyl hone pattern on cyl bores . good angle not patchy
