I stay hydrated with the USWE Moto Hydro 8L Adventure Fit Hydration Pack www.cyclegear....
My gloves, jacket, and riding pants are all Sedici Marco 2 Mesh. They work well for me for summer riding, even when it is sweltering and humid. I will eventually do a review after switching back to my non-summer riding gear.

I don't think I'd turn around and ride the gravel Six Mile Creek Road in the opposite direction, but it looks like a great leg for a day ride. I thought it was hairy enough when you rode out at 35 MPH, but riding back at 50 MPH was nuts. :-) I've always tended to think of motorcycling as faster and easier bicycling so I've never been motivated by speed. That VStrom 800 DE is a very capable and reliable all rounder.
I had a few OMG moments that day. The other two are much faster riders than I am, I don't know how they do it. lol
Thanks for stopping by! :)
You should try Lecompte Bottom road if you haven't already. Gravel with some pretty big hills and it's very near six mile road. Little Dixie road is also mostly gravel
Thank you for this! I'll definitely check them out! I appreciate you stopping by. I'll be sure to have the video running when I explore those roads. I really enjoy that area.
Yep they was rt there didn’t need to turn around & go back. Beautiful area I ride those rds all the time
Thanks for sharing this! I'm in Lexington. Six Mile Creek Road looks like a great basis for a fun day ride. My riding buddies and I are old and we break easily, so we'd probably ride the gravel road 10 MPH slower. 😛 There also appear to be many other great gravel roads and winding scenic country paved roads in the area. We've been looking for an excuse to go to Our Best Restaurant in Smithfield for some pie. I like pie!
Thank you for stopping by! It would be a perfect day trip for you from Lexington. There are other gravel/dirt near Six Mile Creek Rd, but I haven't checked them out yet. It's a pretty nice area. I'm a bit older too, so I ride slower than my buddies. It's all good, we all ride our own ride, not forced to keep up with anyone. They got me to push my limits a bit, which is good.
I'll have to visit Our Best Restaurant, I haven't been there, and I too like pie. :)
@@kentuckyadv - I talked to my riding buddy last night after sending him a link to this video. We agreed to ride Six Mile Creek Road and other back roads and gravel roads in the vicinity, just as soon as the persistent daily rains end. My friend is in Louisville so we agreed to meet at a restaurant fairly close to Six Mile Creek Road (Our Best Restaurant in Smithfield?) and have lunch while we plan the day's ride together. I'm trying to get him more into the planning process. Usually, I plan the routes.
Kentucky is greatly under rated for motorcycle riding. We have some gorgeous scenery and a lot of twisty hilly roads. Planning a ride is as simple as setting the destination on my GPS. The default profile is ADV Motorcycle, which I configured to avoid highways. It'll usually route me mostly on major secondary roads such as 60, 27, 25, etc. Those are good rides with a lot of farmland and usually some forests. There's usually 15 minutes of riding at 60 MPH on good roads through the countryside, followed by a few minutes of 35 MPH tours of quaint small towns, which afford an opportunity to stand and rest before the next 60 MPH blast through the countryside. These rides on major secondary roads are almost as fast as taking the interstate but are MUCH more enjoyable. If I want a more technical ride with more hills and twisties, and more adventure, I'll set a couple of waypoints to force the GPS to take us on smaller tertiary roads. Kentucky is riddled with them, and you'd never see them if you don't make a little effort to get off the major roads. Almost every route on the smallest back roads is a great adventure with almost no planning effort at all. You can't pick a bad route in rural Kentucky, and almost everything in and around the Daniel Boone National Forest is excellent.
Wow... that VStrom is quiet...
@@iwurm For now. 😁
In need to check out that road.... not too far from Georgetown.
It's a fun place. There are a few other gravel roads I haven't explored in that area. You'll like the roads there. 😁
