@Overcharged Egg, I can see you really love your heavily forested areas, but I would really like to see more 'meadow' inspired areas with lots of flowers, brushes and colourful trees. I know you've already done that island but maybe for the next ruin. I imagine that a castle would have a flower garden, and it's been overrun into a wild meadow.
The castle used to be occupied by Queen Orchid, who moved there after her husband, the King dies and her son took the throne in 1437. Queen Orchid Castle Public Campgrounds sit on the site today allowing ordinary people to Camp among the ruins. Orchid is the plant Vanilla comes from, and Queen is a brand of vanilla extract. Oh, and as the name of Twochurch, can we make the c lower-case as it is meant to be one word. Great work mate!
Also, could you name a street in the Industrial estate Boneo Rd? Just reminds me of somewhere close to home. I love this series and your upload schedule is insane!!!
And the Two Church Historical Society is funding an archeological dig/renovation of the site and got approval from the city council to have a small, professor-led, semi-permanent presence directly adjacent (this would justify the tents and, if one could be squeezed in, a safety fence between the path and the castle). Great detailing!!
Dont hate the tents at all - we have a castle in our village and certain groups are allowed to camp around and inside it with permission (Scouts etc). Perhaps the visitors centre hosts historic educational camp outs. Should maybe stick a park side gate on the other side by the visitors centre to get guest count and park cheese $ up! Great episode, always forget how simple and possible it is to detail in vanilla
I'm building on this map too but decided to mix into that castle camp site the old school castle from hotels and retreats. Figured makes more sense like half the castle still stood and was used as a hotel for tourists.
I love this new "Guide" to be honest, i dont see these videos as a newbie guide. For me, its seeing you building a new vanilla city and putting all effort in "making cities great again " :D
The Arvellos, a spanish family, moved to Orchid Bay a couple centuries ago, running from the Napoleon offensives in Europe. In fact, orchids are not native to the region. Maria Arvellos, the older daughter of Sebastian Arvellos and Joaquina Arvellos, was passionate with the flowers and brought them to the island, despite her parents not really liking the idea of her growing flowers. That's because her younger brother, Gabriel Arvellos, is allergic to bees. Though they were the only people in the island, the Arvellos family were forced out by the Germans during World War Two, due to the strategical location of the island. They kept the Arvellos' castle as an arms and bombs deposit. When the German occupants heard about the incoming retake by the allies, they fled the region rapidly. Because many German ships were destroyed by the allies, they didn't had much space in the surviving ships to carry all the bombs and guns... Since they knew the war was in it's final chapters, and every detail matters, they decided not to give the allies any more war equipment, so they decided to detonate all the bombs that were left in the castle... Because of the detonation, orchid seeds that Maria kept hidden from her parents inside a wall, were ejected by the blast and landed all over the surrounding fields, "contaminating" the entire bay with orchid flowers, and giving the region it's name. That's the story of the Arvellos' Castle Ruins. And that's my suggestion to the name of the park.
I suggest naming the Twochurch waterfront "Steve" and the Castle "Orchid Castle. The castle was in 1879 as a private manor constructed in the style of a castle as part of the Gothic revival style architechture that was incredibly popular at. the time gave buildings like the Parliament building in both Canada and the UK, The Woolworths Building in New York, and Larnach Castle in Dunedin (which is where I took inspiration from for the story of the castle being a private home in the past). Unfortunately, Orchid Catle burned down in 1988 and ended up remaining in ruins until the family that owned the building decided to allow the public use it as a campsite starting in 1996.
Love this series. I was wondering if you would consider building a small town outside of the big city, with like a small trainstation, old houses and a church. I think you could make a fun little town with that!
I am tickled by the idea of a haunted castle tour near the two churches and cemeteries. They do historical tours in the day and more entertainment-oriented haunted tours at night or on certain events; but the centerpiece of the park is an overnight stay on the castle grounds on a glamping ground. Glamping (glamorous camping) for those unfamiliar, is essentially camping with a ton of creature comforts such as running water and toilets. Except in this case, they include a bunch of devices to monitor paranormal activity as well.
Absolutely digging this series, OE! Nice little waterfront developing & the caste ruins site is awesome. Always forget how nice that dirt road bridge is! 🤩
Absolutely loving this series!! This episode ha so many cute little areas in it! I love the waterfront and the castle camping spot. Can't wait for the next episode!
This series is really showing me how effortlessly you make things look good and feel like real places. Loving it. Also, hope your sore throat feels better now
WOW..this city is simply amazing! I'm loving the organic growth, making tweaks to the plan as you go along, the little waterfront area is to die for! My suggestion for the waterfront is Conival Wharf, after one of my favourite songs, Ascent of Conival. 😍
Another great episode OE. I like how the 4 lane with bikes and grass almost mimics the opposite one way road to the entrance of the city. I think some palaven broken nature reserve fence might serve well with the green belt park by the water. Can't wait for the next one dude
Ok, name suggestions, water front: Two Sinners…. As there is industry and commercial looking out on a very old and historic site which is kinda a sin and also ties back into Two Churches of course. The castle/campsite i think could be called Cattleya Castle (which is a type of orchid. But maybe locals call it the Slipper Princess Castle as from an old legend (slipper orchid is another type). I have a suggestion to when you build on the other side of the highway to have a tram bridge which would continue on the waterfront (you may need to get rid of the small industry area) but a tram bridge would look soooo good and would continue the dlr system. Happy to hear the channel is growing, amazing build btw
This series seems to me as one of the best vanilla city series 🏙️ maybe we should name the waterfront district Eggnog District because there young people will go and party in green areas. For the castle district, I can say King Eggthur Castle would be nice I think. And the idea of adding find it is great
Hi! Very nice build today! I think you're right you should definitely push the night life stuff toward the train, the church neighborhood has its "chill" vibe that would denote. Keep going, your vanilla-build skills is very impressive! Greetings from France :)
I love your detailing, it's so inspiring! The only things I think you need are some trash and recycle bins, and maybe some lighting, in the larger areas that you added free form tables for eating, and also some children-oriented things in the greenbelt, like jungle gyms or monkey bars or whatever. Again though, fantastic job, I'm inspired to get back into Cities Skylines, I've always wanted to build a small rural outskirt like this
I hope your sore throat goes away! I've been watching your videos as asmr for years because you have the perfect voice. I love your content! Get well soon!
I just love your passion for this game, it really shines through and makes watching your series so enjoyable. Yes I am a fair few episodes behind but on discovering your channel just before christmas I had to watch your noobs guide first. I'm so relieved to be able to ditch the mods and all the problems they can create. Thank you!
a guy could make a fortune mowing lawns! I hate the tall overgrown grass all over. I would love to see decals for nicely manicured lawns including fresh cut grass lines, maybe diagonal.
Love the tents at the Castle! Dry Tortugas (Historic US Military Fort) in the Florida Keys allows you to camp. It's a two-hour boat ride out there, so a pretty crazy camp trip! Would be awesome if castles in Europe took on this concept!
This is a very nice waterfront for spending a sunny day. I agree it was the right decision to keep the waterfront free of nightlife. A huge amount of clubs or bars in such a small town just does not feel right. I suspect even after-work-partying near the industry or something close to the transport hub would be rather pubs or bars. The forest pathway on the island is great and I do also like the camping in the ruins it fits in nicely in that corner.
I absolutely love your videos! I learn so much because your videos are really entertaining and your tutorials are easy to follow and you explain why you’re doing things in terms of game mechanics and it’s enormously helpful. I am really loving this build too. I play mostly vanilla with the exception of Forest Brush and PLT.
The tents in the castle remind me of me 10 years ago backpacking through Europe and puting my tent whenever I find in the night, many times near castle walls
Again another cool episode :D. I don't like the idea of including find it because it fundamentally changes the way you play the game. Names: Waterfront: Rivers Bounty (a bit dramatic but i like it) Castle Area: The old (iron) Keep
Another one! You're a machine! I still think of this town as somwhere like York, with a strong inner city (maybe the castle is some Roman remnant)... or like Bend, Oregon - so there's lots of outdoorsy stuff, the nightlife is hipster breweries, distilleries, etc (not vegas-like). For island names, and on that prior note, I think something like Orchid State Park or - (what if it's actually a business) - Orchid Outdoor Adventures. Really like that waterfront walk! Nice job, as always
I started a build on this map (console) I love that you’re building here too! I’d love for you to do a rural mountain build and look at Estes Park, Colorado. It’s where The Shining was filmed and I think you could do some awesome things in vanilla with that town as inspiration. 😊
Been loving this series so far! I am following along with the build on xbox and would be a little disappointed if you used find it as I couldnt access those assests but I dont think it would take away from the watching experience.
This is such a fun build I'm doing my best to build along with you on this build however I've seen alot of different terrain problems on my map due to being on console I believe but I am amazed at how much better my building has become things line up nice using alot of your design and I've been learning to make sure and check terrain before building because the slopes and rugged terrain really do a number on how the buildings line up and how they look...im so glad I found your build guides makes the game so much more fun can't wait for your next Orchid Bay build guide and hopefully I'm not too busy to catch it live thank you for inspiring me to get more into this game which is a total different game with your build style :-)
Loving the new series, thanks so much - you are my city skylines guru learnt so much from you and I'm trying to build along with you this time - Castle acres for the island and Castle quarter for the riverside area
Really enjoying how you build! It's an art form for sure. One thing I wish could be added to commercial districts....car dealerships and the Sims actually being able to buy cars....electric of course to keep it green ;)
I'd rather the city use as few mods as possible, to be honest. Prop line tool I get, because it's replicable for all vanilla players, albiet time consuming, but find it is something somebody on console couldn't do, and I think may detract from the spirit of the series. It's your city though mate, I'm enjoying watching it either way.
While on the topic of names, I've not been able to come up with anything for the castle island, but maybe for a zoo you could call it something like an animal eggshell-ter? I had a better idea but I forgot it as I was writing this lol
It's funny the little things I pick up when watching. I didn't know I could place the nature preserve assets off the pathway like you did. As for adding 'find it' I think you should keep it out of this build. I think it could possibly ruin the vanilla vibe you have going, and may alienate some viewers who can't/won't use mods. Orchid Bay and Ilos are two unique cities and I love them both.
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Yeah cos I'm a slightly bitter console player, so for me they aren't vanilla if you can't access them without a mod. Seriously though I like modded and unmodded cities, just for them to be one or the other, inspirational or achievable.
The housings are still a little too close with highway, commercial, and industrial for my liking. But still, really enjoy your vanilla gameplay! You’re one of my most fave builders and really looking forward for your series🫶🏻
Great new series, yes please! The name Orchid Bay opens up a whole library of names of the orchidaceae family, check it out. One small point of review, although your taste of music is immaculate (love the 80s vibe now), I find it a bit too loud compared to the rest of the audio. Looking forward to seeing the city grow 🤩
I'd love a tutorial on designing your own interchanges like the one you did here. I always just plop down something off the workshop and they always look too perfect. I understand obviously you need an on and off ramp for each highway direction, and then a road either over or under, but I'd love to just have someone lay out the thought process. Having perfectly symmetrical interchanges plopped down is all well and good, but it doesn't really feel realistic, and then whenever I try I end up with a diamond interchange that looks more like an egg than a diamond.
What an awesome build! Love the aesthetic of the low rise waterfront high street I think putting the nightlife by the rail is a great idea. Maybe around an old warehouse turned nightclub?
Slipping behind on my Build Guide already. Nice to see it developing so nicely though. Enjoyed the road-path-ped road action. Especially with the tram on Works well on console in the absence of surface painter to gives a nice wide hard surfaced area.
Hey overcharged egg I love your stuff. I try to follow along as closely as possible on my Xbox. Your ideas and detailing help me to make my normal game experience that much better. Heck, if I had a better PC, I would probably get it on that and follow along so I had similar mods. Keep up the good work. Thank you for doing this because it's very entertaining
Hi, I just started watching these series about building a new vanilla city and I'm really enjoying it, I was just wondering what trees do you use for your brush as it looks super good!
Neottia Riverfront at Twayblades Castle. Neottia is a genus of orchids, and Twayblades are the single pair of opposing leaves at the base of the flowering stem.
The island could be named either Cracker Island (according to one of the two churches) or Cattleya Island and the guys of the campsite are searching for that very rare Orchid in the ruins. 🌸
I feel like there would be something around the water tower near the waterfront; a fence to prevent people getting close, and maybe bushes/trees to obscure it a little.
Loving this series, ive found myself building along with it but adding some of my own flair as they say with a ton of assets and mods, also ive used a church instead of a fire/police station, will take some screen shots once ive finished work later and add them to your discord Mr Egg though i do wish i was as good as you with ditailing but i keep forgetting to do it lol. Cant wait for the next episode dude
Egbert Von Snottenheim was a very excentric nobel from Europe that fell inlove with the area and ordered his home built on the castle island. When he passed he donated the land to the city to make sure other people would share in his love of the land. Snottenheim Castle is now a site for much outdoor happiness.
Putting in my two cents on Find it. I’m personally against it because then you will begin building things not available to console players since we can’t choose assets like those castle walls. Even if they are vanilla assets.
Maybe the river should be named, and the castle island and waterfront be named after the river? Not that I have any ideas for names, just thought things are often named after major landmarks nearby. Could carry that theme down towards the waterfront build as it is built along the named river. Loving the build so far, very inspiring!
I don't normally leave any comments, but I just started watching your new series and really enjoyed it but as a person who usually relies on seeing the next video in the series on my main page it would be helpful if you put the episode number in the name, but as your titles are longer, even if you could put the episode number in the thumbnail
Not sure about putting biking in the round about but is an option I vote tunnel on getting across the railway the tunnels with the 3 lane bike roads are cool looking and on the strip I would maybe think about the nightlife assets closer to the transportation hub so like yo mentioned the quiet town vibe don't get upset over the noise can't wait to see the outcome its becoming another amazing build
Great build Egg. Love the castle tent area and the park island. I don't have a suggestion for it, as many good ones have already been presented, but I do have one for the next district or a small rural town outside of the city limits: Yolktown. Obviously a word play on Yorktown, but twinned with Noob Yolk since the area is 4 hours east. We have lots of towns here in Germany which are twinned with others throughout Europe. Just a thought. 💙
Great build! I prefer watching your builds over making my own, mainly because yours are a million times better! Also, I think there should be a mod that enables you to auto-historical all buildings.
Castles make me think of Ireland. The Irish word for orchid is Magairlin. Maybe “Magairlin Castle” or “Magairlin Holm”, since it’s not really an island.
Hopefully you can help me. Which mod do you use for zooming in for detailing? I find it hard to place assets as I cannot see the details well and things like park benches obviously need to be the correct way round!
Ooooo a meadow is such a great idea!!!!!
I love this series and your upload schedule is insane!!!
lovely stuff! And yes we can, good call!
And the Two Church Historical Society is funding an archeological dig/renovation of the site and got approval from the city council to have a small, professor-led, semi-permanent presence directly adjacent (this would justify the tents and, if one could be squeezed in, a safety fence between the path and the castle). Great detailing!!
Love the lore. This is inspiring me to start fresh myself on a new build this year :)
They high tech commercial jobs requires well educated workers.

Castle park is actually low key really bloody good!
This series has been a joy to follow along with and love the quick releases. Excellent work. Thanks for the inspiration!
I think the tents next to the castle are a really nice idea!
Absolutely love this! Beautiful waterfront and the castle island is perfect. Can I suggest Fort Orchid for the Castle?!
This is hands down your best series. I am following along in my own game...so much fun! Thank you.
Hi! Very nice build today!

I would be fine with Find it and move it as both are super useful. Love your build guides. Was said when Noobs guide ended.
Another great build! I like how you try and make things as real as possible.
Glad you're enjoying the series 😁
For the River Front: Vanda Riverwalk and the river could be the Vanda River. Vanda's are a beautiful type of Orchid.

Amazing build! Lets go for a 25 tiles build for this series Egg.
For the park: Lord Shellington's Estate
Great episode. Gorgeous build with awesome commentary. Such inspiration and artistry.

Yeah I'm one of the new subscribers, you've really changed my mind when it comes to vanilla play. That's why I really liked it.
I think the little hand-made plaza at ~ 36:19 would look nice with some sandy-coloured tiles on the ground that match the zoned retail over the road.

How about Castle Banks for the name of the waterfront commercial? Loving the series so far 😍
Loving the series, please don't add find it. Being able to make any of this on console is amazing as a console player :)
Really enjoying how you build! It's an art form for sure. One thing I wish could be added to commercial districts....car dealerships and the Sims actually being able to buy cars....electric of course to keep it green ;)
The park is so beautiful. I'd love to visit it if I were in Twochurch. The waterfront is really cute, too.
The vibe of this city might be the best one ever. Idk what it is but this city might be better than noveria and palaven! Great waterfront egg!
How about putting the city center pathways underground?
I'd rather the city use as few mods as possible, to be honest. Prop line tool I get, because it's replicable for all vanilla players, albiet time consuming, but find it is something somebody on console couldn't do, and I think may detract from the spirit of the series. That is genius! How has no one come up with that in 3 years?
It's funny the little things I pick up when watching. I didn't know I could place the nature preserve assets off the pathway like you did. As for adding 'find it' I think you should keep it out of this build. I think it could possibly ruin the vanilla vibe you have going, and may alienate some viewers who can't/won't use mods. Orchid Bay and Ilos are two unique cities and I love them both.
I'm really enjoying the new series so far but I would be disappointed if you added in the find it mod to a No Mods Build Guide.
Even for extra vanilla props?
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Yeah cos I'm a slightly bitter console player, so for me they aren't vanilla if you can't access them without a mod.
Seriously though I like modded and unmodded cities, just for them to be one or the other, inspirational or achievable.
Watching you play this gives me that peaceful energy
The housings are still a little too close with highway, commercial, and industrial for my liking. But still, really enjoy your vanilla gameplay! You’re one of my most fave builders and really looking forward for your series🫶🏻
Great new series, yes please!
The name Orchid Bay opens up a whole library of names of the orchidaceae family, check it out.
One small point of review, although your taste of music is immaculate (love the 80s vibe now), I find it a bit too loud compared to the rest of the audio.
Looking forward to seeing the city grow 🤩
Maybe inappropriate but could call it winefront - turns water into wine and it's the nightclub district :D
Lmao I like that for the eventual nightlife area
I'd love a tutorial on designing your own interchanges like the one you did here. I always just plop down something off the workshop and they always look too perfect. I understand obviously you need an on and off ramp for each highway direction, and then a road either over or under, but I'd love to just have someone lay out the thought process.
Having perfectly symmetrical interchanges plopped down is all well and good, but it doesn't really feel realistic, and then whenever I try I end up with a diamond interchange that looks more like an egg than a diamond.
What an awesome build! Love the aesthetic of the low rise waterfront high street
I think putting the nightlife by the rail is a great idea. Maybe around an old warehouse turned nightclub?
I really like the way you transformed the island, nice job👍 Also what camera mod do you use for zooming in that close?
Slipping behind on my Build Guide already. Nice to see it developing so nicely though. Enjoyed the road-path-ped road action. Especially with the tram on Works well on console in the absence of surface painter to gives a nice wide hard surfaced area.
Hey overcharged egg
I love your stuff.
Egg: Keeps getting illnesses that cause sore throats.
Also Egg: Does 2.5 hour livestreams. :D
🤣
You can't use Find It - the stock game provides access to all the things they want you to have access to :)
But why I can't the vanilla swingset but can get a mailbox?
The island could be named either Cracker Island (according to one of the two churches) or Cattleya Island and the guys of the campsite are searching for that very rare Orchid in the ruins. 🌸
Up
I feel like there would be something around the water tower near the waterfront; a fence to prevent people getting close, and maybe bushes/trees to obscure it a little.
Another beautiful build MR OE u always make things look so tranquil and liveable
This guy is like a Cities Skylines version of Bob Ross - I could watch him build Cities for hours.....
Another amazing build. Thank you! Do you have, or can you make, a quick video on how to use Prop Line Tool? Hope you feel better soon!
I think itd be really interesting to build a small "Military Base" later down the road
I love watching your series, I take alot of inspiration from it. Keep it up!
Loving the series so far! not sure if i missed it, but wanted to know what the Forest Brush was setup as for this series :)
Wow four episodes of your best city yet in the span of one week? You are really spoiling us! Keep up the excellent work!
Really digging the new build. I can speak for all us console players your vanilla builds are inspirational and beautiful looking
Love all of your work! Using find it will give the opportunity for a more unique build. I say you should use it just to give us a more detailed city!!
It's still so weird to see taxis at the taxi stands! Looks like they're not going to be used for decorating bus stops any more. :D
I enjoy watching this series ❤❤ just drinks 🍹 popcorn 🤤👍 for my relaxing time
Aaaand you're building the interchange while the cars are still moving! Like real life! 😆
