You know since this episode has some great sights to behold just coming around a round about. Most would think observatory for the mountain, but I feel it should be a nature reserve park with some of the bigger rocks on top. My though process is if the mountain. Could get swallowed and surrounded by the city. I grew up in a city that had a "mountain" (big hill) park. It was fun walking up looking out at the city I was born in.
The city could be called Twochurch named after the two churches. They should continue their rivalry having built their churches but it's an unspoken contest about who can not develop their churches so they stand out against the modern houses. Then, they both give in and the rivalry just continues.
The comment from the last vid, about Orchids - I think that person is on to something here. ALL your vanilla builds should have Orchid in the name going forward. Also, skip ALL references to ME for the vanilla builds, save all that lore for the modded builds going forward. Else, I LOVE that you have done a detailing review. This is a great idea, and I hope you continue doing that going forward. Especially in the modded series, as you can take a quick moment to speak about mods used as well. I love everything about this episode. The new forest brush palette is incredible, I'm 100% on board with that. The potato fields, the view of the bakery from the roundabout, Rosie's restaurant on the corner...please tell me where this town is because I'd like to move there immediately. Thank you so much, Egg, for the amazing content, every city is better than the last. Loving the new format changes, the music change, all working for you really well. Love!!!!
that farm looks so pretty, maybe the story of the town is that it was founded by two people that were once the closest friends came to this place and built a church. But one day they had a failing out and the second person built a rival church
More than any CS channel I've seen, this one proves that an amateur on a vanilla-ish game can create a city with charm and nice backstory. Nice job mate!
Two videos in two days, you are spoiling us Egg. I think the mountain should be as untouched as possible. Seeing as it is near a farming community maybe it was just "respected" as a natural feature. Maybe it could have some wind turbines and a weather station on top accessible only by cable car

The generic lvl 1 industry building with 4 silos looks decent as a grain elevator in a farm build. Fits very well next to a Bakery. It lets you mix a little generic industry in as well to use the products from your recyclers.
City looks ace. You have given me some great ideas. With the farms I like to make my "fields" a block of 2 medium and 4 small in a mixed pattern. I think it looks nicer as it means a little bit less of the sheds, but takes the same space.

Just watched both ep 1 and this one, my god you're amazing at this game. Seriously thinking of reinstalling it and having another blast, you sir have gained a new sub.
You should use the mountain area as a sort of ramblers trail using the nature reserve stuff and link it in with a cable car at the top running down....
Beautiful start keep em coming I was busy so I missed the 2 live builds but I always go back and catch up one thing I noticed is it certainly does make a big difference what you allow to spawn in certain areas I'm trying to build along with this one but already my city is going its own direction still so far my best start thank you for sharing your knowledge...and to think when I first started playing this game I ended up getting frustrated that nothing would line up...since watching your video I've noticed a major improvement in getting roads and certain buildings to line up now awesome!
I'd love to see some layered, tiered, rural housing around the base of the mountain. Rural... but also kinda desireable. You know, _Tarquin and Jezebel with their Range Rover._ Careful placement of foliage, rocks and the right assets, I think it could look awesome, and totally unique 🛻🏡🏞
I do think your farming area should have more space throughout it and not mad about the slaughter house location. Otherwise your detailing is top notch as usual. Also I would perhaps leave that mountain bare and use the ones on the other side of town for a nature reserve. Looking forward to next episode with trams as you always seem to integrate these well
Hello new here and love your style of the city, there are towns like this in the deep south that look like this towns you see the history of city thats been there so long but still hasnt changed much but up to date to the area, love the farms! It looks like a peaceful place where everybody knows everybody, but it has things hidden to the outsiders hidden gems like places to fish to hunt to enjoy the wild woods and wild life, hidden moonshiners who make local booze for the people there Old Uncle Joe has you a drink ready and gumbo cooking on the stove when you come by for your bottle. Great music plays in Blues clubs country music and yes rock n roll lol.. You hit the city and enjoy the sights and sounds of entertainment, shopping , the best doctors ect.. its a big city with a country feel.. cant wait too see it grow! happy new year!
Normally I'm not interested in industrial stuff (because I don't know how to make it look good lol), but this was awesome! Love how you transformed your industrial area. However I wish those churches weren't rivals! Can we change the lore surrounding them to something like them having unity and partnership in the faith? You could *name the city Koinónia* (pronounced koy-nohn-ee'-ah) which is the Greek word for fellowship (since the New Testament was written in Greek). :)
One question I have: Could you please elaborate on the zoning as to why you both plopped the basic industry AND the special zone with that building? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how to do it properly. I'd appreciate some help there.
Base game specified industry produces the raw materials that zoned generic industry needs to work. If you don't supply it, the game will import it and create more traffic and create an imbalance on your industry chain. Its generally a good habit to keep both when building one or the other. Industries DLC will then produce its crop from the raw materials which can then be exported itself (Such as crops, Ore, Wood & Oil) or can be sent out to unique factories where they are then turned into goods (Which your commercial zoning will sell, the same resource your regular unspecified zoned yellow industry produces just to complete the chain lol) I hope that makes sense? As your city grows its not something you'll come to notice, use them for detailing and you'll keep the balance of raw materials produced in your city.
I keep thinking those two islands with the attached by bridge and with a castle on the second smaller island would make for a nice location for a park of some kind, like maybe someone purchased the pair of islands as a tourist attraction of the castle and setup an entire park on the larger island.
Just build small in the 1st square Later on, as property values start to rise, and you have unlocked more tiles, you can convert the industry area into either a commercial, or residential area, and move the industry to a bigger, and cheaper location
An idea I've used before in my cities for mountain tops is the observation building from the unique building tab with the climate research station and the deep dish radar from natural disasters tab with the cable cars public transport and a dirt road leading up to said mountain
Wish console had a big sale on the DLC. I held out all Christmas break hoping they'd run a sale and never did so I finally bought Plazas, Skycrapers and train stations last night with a Christmas gift card I got. Great looking city so far!
Back to back!? Love it! Perfect way to start the day with a nice cup of coffee. With the hide it mod, does it also prevent the pollution from killing the trees around the industry areas? Or is that a different mod that you're using? Seems to make it much easier to detail up the industrial areas. Keep it rocking OE!
O.e. has the same effect on me I got the game new and kept trying to build things and nothing ever would line up so I got frustrated and stopped playing. I came across o.e. build guide for noobs and was blown away "you can do that" was my main thought he makes it look easy but seeing his masterpieces made me get back on cities and try again I've been binging the game since. O.e. is truly the Bob Ross of cities lol
I have never played Mass Effects but I feel it would be fitting to give this city a name from there to keep tradition alive. Scanning through the wiki Eden Prime has lots of fertile land so could be used as part of the lore?
I’d love to see a nice big nature reserve on the mountain and that is where the roundabout 4 lane road could lead to (the one following the highway) and that patch can be parking, main gate and also some cute log cabins like in noobs guide. And just a path and possibly a cable car leading to a peak. Love the series but the cold theme is kinda depressing 😅 I might warm up to it though!!!
Your cities are incredibly beautiful. Wonderful attention to detailing. Love it. Also love the music you use. What is the music, I need it in my playlist.
"Oh, a new Builds guide?!?" *Looks at the picture* "Oh, looks modded, probably Ilos or the collab" *Looks at the name* "Nope, just Egg's vanilla skills"
Lovely build as always! Can just feel the excitement and can't wait! Btw, which trees did you group "tag" all together in Forest brush? And how did you place the props for roundabout #2 in a circle immediately?
There ARE plenty of diversified farms out there, but the majority of them are specialized, especially on a large scale. You don't really find a bakery next to livestock pens, lol. I think a lot of the people's farm industry builds just try and concentrate all the various building types into the area to satisfy resource requirements without thinking about things like that. I rarely see orchards next to cow fields next to their slaughterhouse (which is hilariously macabre!) You've made better farming areas for sure. I think I'm having unusually strong feelings about that second farm entrance road that's all squiggly. If I were a truck driver I'd absolutely detest that road! Lol. I also have never seen a bakery out in farmland where grain is grown. Like never. I don't think the bakery requires the fertile land since it's a manufacturing asset right? I do like how it sits in the town's roundabout entrance, but a larger bakery like that is usually in an industrial part of a town so it can distribute goods to the commercial assets, not in the middle of a cowfield, lol. The recycling centers are a little strange too, by separating their access roads it creates strange traffic flow. One of them requires trucks to go down to the dead end and turn around, which I realize is a silly game mechanic but even if we suspend disbelief I would suspect if they built a second one after the fact it would have more direct road access? If you were using mods I'd say put some very wealthy residential compounds in the mountains overlooking the farms and town, but in vanilla? I don't think anything will beat that awesome weather station you built way back in....was it Palaven? Maybe something out of left field like a casino? 🙂
Fair points but I guess my pov is I see assets as assets sometimes, often flat out ignoring what it is in favour of the way it looks haha! But I totally appreicate your point :) Weather station in Palaven? 🤔 Doesn't ring a bell. Maybe in second season of 5B1C, my final build? Casino sounds cool!
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG that's legit, and hey it DOES look good when you come through the roundabout.😉 Yeah it was some science-ey thing on top of a mountain? I dunno I've watched a LOT of builder's vids, lol. And yeah, like maybe a mountain casino resort? The kind of thing James Bond would go to.😊
Maybe a nature reserve on top with cable car's as a possible way to get to the top or maybe some type of science center with the observation asset overlooking the city
I'd put a temple on top of that hill if you can make it work. Either the Korean one of the pagoda from the Japanese CCP would probably work. Maybe the Pearls from the East one, but it might be a bit big.
Does the hide it mod you are using change the resource count? When you placed the flour mill next to the orange grove, you would assume the pollution impact would decrease the resources available? Just wondering, thank you!
No mods skylines is the better way to play IMO, sure you cant make things AS pretty but when someone nails their vision in vanilla, its a much bigger feat in my opinion then having mods to tweak every last thing
So far the city lore includes a battle of the churches and old men reminiscing about orange groves. I like it.

Two church 4 cemeteries- 2chains probably
Twinspire? Because churches typically have spires

That would be kinda cool and would breath life into it every so often! And who know I might actually like the cold theme!
I think maybe you can make industrial area more walkable? Like build more pathway and stuff
Your cities are incredibly beautiful. Wonderful attention to detailing. Love it. Also love the music you use. What is the music, I need it in my playlist.
Thank you! I have a Playlist on Spotify that I try to keep up to date! open.spotify.com/playlist/0qkSmjFl20I4fHdcWFhCUX?si=94da01f34a8b4138
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Thank you! :)
"Oh, a new Builds guide?!?"
*Looks at the picture*
"Oh, looks modded, probably Ilos or the collab"
*Looks at the name*
"Nope, just Egg's vanilla skills"
Lol
I like to put a bunch of the smaller farms of the same type next to the large farms, so it makes it appear that the one building owns all the land
Change the fruit trees near the flour mills to greenhouses to match the industrial vibe.
On top of the mountain ridge you should put the aerial tower and the radio station.
Your videos are honestly so relaxing, i love it 🫶💫
Thank you so much!!
Lovely build as always! Can just feel the excitement and can't wait! Btw, which trees did you group "tag" all together in Forest brush? And how did you place the props for roundabout #2 in a circle immediately?
It’s coming along nicely 👍🚜
Really enjoyed this episode Egg ❤️ already looking forward to the next one 🙂
good afternoon OE, from Allenstown, NH.
should have like a big telescope on top of that mountain or hill and try a like ski lift thing going up and down maybe just a thought
Looking Good 👍😁
The church itself doesn't need to face East but their Altar does.
But I totally appreicate your point :)
Weather station in Palaven? 🤔 Doesn't ring a bell. Maybe in second season of 5B1C, my final build? Casino sounds cool!
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG that's legit, and hey it DOES look good when you come through the roundabout.😉
Yeah it was some science-ey thing on top of a mountain? I dunno I've watched a LOT of builder's vids, lol.
And yeah, like maybe a mountain casino resort? The kind of thing James Bond would go to.😊
@@fogpeople I think it was Noveria where he put some science type stuff on top of the mountain? Loved that build.
@@hustledude Found it! OE was right, it was 5B1C. ua-cam.com/video/10U5o95nexI/v-deo.html
I'm hoping this shows how much of a fan I am of your work Egg. 🙂
Maybe a nature reserve on top with cable car's as a possible way to get to the top or maybe some type of science center with the observation asset overlooking the city
Thanks for every day upload
I love this videos so muuuutch i was wainting for that one my day is better
I'd put a temple on top of that hill if you can make it work. Either the Korean one of the pagoda from the Japanese CCP would probably work. Maybe the Pearls from the East one, but it might be a bit big.
We need to get a larger road that has the same look as the gravel roads - those just work much better for farm and forestry.
I never even thought of zoning in the speclialized district. I only place the buildings manually.
Great to go on a break and time u just released this . Another great episode looking really nice egg.
Thank you, Martin!
