Can we expect a Captain Meets Steve Lukather???
João Paulo Padilha de Aquino yes yes yes yes yes 🙌🏻
We can only hope.
YES!!
Would be the best!
He's been invited & said he'd like to.... but nothing is confirmed & he could have just been being nice!!
Steve Lukather is incredibly underrated in so many aspects of guitar playing. Glad to see him getting the Andertons' treatment here! Awesome to see!
"Underrated" ?
Yeah...he just can't get a gig can he.
Good grief!
He’s really good, but for some reason, not as much people know his name
Ridiculous. Everybody who knows anything about guitar holds him in extremely high regard. He has played on thousands of albums, has multiple Grammys, etc, etc.
Quit it with the "underrated" nonsense.
Who underrated him? No one.
@@TazTaylorBand Maybe so. I really don't know many people on a public and personal level who know who know who Toto is, but not Steve Lukather individually.
We NEED Eric Johnson, pleaaaase guys !
great video ofc
cocaradja2013 this!!!! Eric’s tone seems to be impossible to replicate. I’m really curious of they can figure it out. I’m also curious if rabiha is able to play the five pattern at blistering speeds (which is also almost impossible)
@@mikesmit9770 I think Eric Johnson is one of those cases where "tone is in the fingers". He has been playing all kind of guitars (Strats, SGs, ES335s, ...) as well as a combination of different amps (Fenders, Marshalls and others) over the years and still always sounded like himself. In some interview he mentioned how he holds the pick (Dunlop Jazz III) at an angle which certainly has an effect on his sound. In terms of effects it's actually not that crazy: Echoplex preamp, delay(s), some chorus, a Tube Driver along with a TS and of course the fuzz. The hardest part would really be the playing.
@error i've worked a budget rig
Squier classic vibe stratocaster (preferably the 50's with it's maple fretboard)
a fender blues junior or marshall origin combo (he does have a dumble now but that's SO expensive)
Echoplex pre amp
Tone City Tape Machine and a TC Flashback Mini
Tone City Angel Wing
Voodoo Lab Giggity (this is essential to get his tone right)
and a Dunlop Fuzz Face (he does have a signature one but it might push the budget over)
@@mikesmit9770 check out Tony Fuentes on youtube. He dialed in a few amazing Eric Johnson tones on the boss Eband.
@@KeeperOfPoops That will get you in the general ballpark, but I have never heard anyone replicate Eric's tone. He is my favorite guitar player of all time and I have watched hundreds of videos of people trying and no one ever does. They get close, but there are things he does that can't be replicated by anyone but him. I like your list though!
Rabea's just a beautiful player. Dude can play anything with feel.
Not only is Steve Lukather an amazing guitarist, but he's also one of the kindest most genuine musicians out there. He's such a great down to earth guy, love him. Listen to all of the Toto albums, along with Steve Lukather's solo stuff. He has written hundreds and hundreds of amazing songs. Again, love that guy. He's one of my biggest idols/inspirations. Hopefully one day, I can open for him and Toto, one of my favorite bands.
Also hilarious
Steve Lukather is one of the greatest guitar players of all time and on top of that, a very cool and funny man when you meet him. Very friendly and there is always laughs. This one hit home, thank you lads! AND last but not least, Rabea kicks major arse playing those licks.
Next April 1st you should make a “sound nothing like” :)
"sound nothing like slipknot" and it's just an epiphone SL and a Fender bassbreaker
"sound nothing like meshuggah" and its just a epiphone es335 and a fender blues junior
"Sound like Lil Wayne without bustin' a gut".
"Sound like *whatever*" and no matter the band they choose it's the Epiphone SL and a Fender frontman 10G
@theqrokz funny you say that cos people say the original without busting version for the slipknot video doesn't sound like slipknot
even though i think it does
The Boss Katana is no joke. It legitimately has become my go-to guitar store amp when I'm trying any guitar out. The best part is that you can add an overdrive in front right on the panel if you want to try something out with a heavy tight rhythm tone, no pedal needed.
i always sung the praise on my Fender Mustang GT100's at college but i might get a Boss KT100 as a safety net for when my Blackstar HT40's tubes go
Finally, can't believe it took several years to feature Lukather here!
Such a cool, kind guy
Steve is simply one of the greats. Good job guys on the sound. I'm blown away by that katana artist
Luke's talent and discography is off the charts. Do check out his solo work. Also, his Luke signature guitar is incredible. People do rave about how great it plays if you're looking to check that out too. The latest model is the Luke III. And Toto were the studio band for the Thriller album. If you are unfamiliar with how amazing Toto and Luke are, check out their catalogue - the Kingdom of Desire album is my favourite. They are also touring the US again later this year - dates are up now. They are killer live and will rock the house! Nice video guys, thanks.
Rabea wrung every bit of feeling out of those notes. Very emotional guitar playing. Fabulous rig, thanks guys.
By far the best guitar playing in these videos. Rabea you're really good man. You can tell how much you loved this rig.
FINALLY!!!! you guys nailed it! the sound is spot on! great job! and the playing was great! rock on! :)
Matt's smirk at 5:35 after he makes the
"Toto-lly Epic" pun killed me haha
This was really impressive. One guitar, one pedal and one amp. That is stunning.
You guys are one of my favorite parts of this channel. Loved this one. Keep em coming gents. Hello from Nebraska, USA.
I agree, this was one of the best sounding rigs W/out busting the bank. Gonna go check out Steve Lukather's work now.
Luke's solo work is killer - check out Falling into Velvet, Brodie's, Rest of the World, his Steely Dan tribute Stab in the Back, I Am... He also is the guitar you hear all over Lionel Richie's Running with the Night - he was just warming up on that one and they used it. ONJ's Physical, Boz Scaggs' Breakdown Dead Ahead and The Clue, the 2nd solo on Don Henley's Dirty Laundry, Christopher Cross' Alright... He's amazing. Also check out his book, The Gospel According to Luke. Killer read.
Do mudhoney! All You need is a fender mustang (vintera), a big muff and superfuzz clone, and a Fender Jaguar for Mark arm. He liked hagstroms but they are not available anymore. By the way: both guitarists played fender blackface amps
I think they use Fender Hot Rods nowadays. Might want to throw in a DOD 250 style overdrive as well
This rig sounds phenomenal
I’ve been waiting for this one, and you guys killed it!! Great job! Thank you!!!
Brilliant video guys - Luke is one of my all time favourite players and you knocked it out of the park with this, and superb playing Rabea... in the process you've sold me on the Katana Artist. Great job!!
for the last 24 years of my guitar playing I managed to completely ignore Steve Lukather (Knew who he was and could point out his signature guitar but hadn't heard any of it) until about a month ago when I started to watch a Toto live video and my jaw dropped! Now a massive fan!
Thank you so much for this one, Luke is my absolute favourite guitarist.. You did an excellent job :-)
this, this is a dream come true...thanks a lot for making this!
Got to agree, definitely one of the best sounding rigs you've done. Sounds great!
Wow! What a great video! Not only is Toto one of my favorite bands from the 80s, but I absolutely love the fact that you did not just play songs off of IV. Carmine and Pamela were both great choices. And of course, you guys nailed the tone.
Not only is Luke an all-time great guitarist, but his tone has been top drawer too over the years. If I was forced to choose only one guitar to do everything, his signature model would be the one.
You guys are amazing! I've been waiting for this at least 4 years! Thank you!!! 🇧🇷😁🤘🎸👍🎹❤
Praying for a Captain meets Lukather episode! Such a killer but underrated band here in the UK & US
One of the best without busting rigs to date! Great job guys!!! :)
I get giddy every time a sound like video posts. This is the best marketing ever.
I love the way these guys demo equipment.
They know how to play appropriately and have great ears.
Steve Luthaker is one of the all time greats.
Sound like Mac demarco without busting please. I know a huge amount of people would absolutely love to see that
Tonkin. barly what? Who cares
Wyatt G anyone with a brain
The Crimson King needs a sounds like
That was awesome, cant believe how great that sounded!! Thanks guys!
About time such a great guitarist was given some attention like this! Great work guys.
AWESOME! And what a great choice of intro song!
Outstanding playing!
I’ve been waiting for quite a while for this video to happen; Luke’s my favorite player and I was curious as to how you guys would approach this. I do have to point out, Rabea’s playing is 🔥 on this vid. He freakin’ NAILED the “Pamela” solo. You guys rule. 🤘
Robin Trower without busting the bank! Great and fun video Steve L is the 80's solo tone!
You guys killed it with this one! Cheers!
Fuck yes been waiting for this one for a while, Steve is such anunder-rated guitar player, guys got such good vibrato as well as crazy chops.
Shreddy Kruger how is he underrated? Everybody I
know loves him!
Olli Schröder the problem is that not enough people are aware of his greatness. You put a poll out and he’s often overlooked
Shreddy Kruger not as bad as Michael Landau. That is the thing with musician‘s musicians. 😉
id agree with everything you said, but he is certainly not under rated. very very highly respected, by both public and other guitar players.
Try to sound like RATT without and by busting the bank! Warren DeMartini is a guitar genius!
and the late Robin Crosby who did the harmony in the solo of Round and Round!
Yes, sound like RATT would be awesome!
*squeak*
That's an awesome sound!! Great job guys
Nice work guys - excellent stuff!
I nominate a Frank Zappa rig, any way you can get it.
Most especially his mid range distortion
Dynamic Flanger Phased Out in Stereo pedal sound.
You know that sound, the one that screams Frank Zappa
Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar !
I did like this but I would have liked to see you pull it off with a Super Strat. Thats what he had back in those days were Valley Arts strats and LPs.
Thank you so much guys for doing this! I posted this suggestion quite a bit! Awesome thanks guys! Great sound too 😁👊🏻
That is an great sounding rig! Excellent playing. You really seemed to enjoy playing that guitar, it showed.
can we have sound likes for Peter Frampton, Slash (Solo career) or Steve Vai?
maybe even Blink 182/Angels and Airwaves, Steel Panther or Deftones BY busting the bank
Frampers!
Vai
@@jw4984 Framperton's! LOL
both
I vote for Frampton
Favorite one of these so far.
Absolutely unexpected and blown away!!!!! Thank you guys!!!!
Hands down one of the best sounding rigs in WBtB in history.
Toto are still out on the road, and Luke is constantly out with Ringo. Love to see you guys break the bank on this one! Great job!
I have to admit that those were some pretty epic tones. That Katana Artist seems such good value for money. And Rabea's playing was spot on. Well done, guys. But you know now that you must do the 'BY busting the bank' version... I'm not sure where you can take the tone, but I'd love to find out.
Great video, exceptional playing!
Thank you very much. Finally a very good video about lukhater's tone.
I didn't even watch and I'll ask you to do BY Busting a Bank.
Awesome fellas. First budget vid that I have just gone... that sounds unreservedly great.
WOHO finally! And yeah, that Lk100d is amazing. The new Luke model has a roasted maple neck, but it has sterling designed pickups.
I'VE WAITED FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
Damn that was killer! Love the tone and sustain excellent!!
This is an episode I’ve been waiting for for years 😍
well it's confirmed, the Boss Katana is the new Marshall Dual Super Lead 40 Combo
but as long as it gets the job done, that's all that matters
Excellent demo!
DOOOOOOOOOODE! Been waiting for this one!!
Great job, guys!
Awesome both of you, regards, Clive🍻✌
Well done. Sounds superb 🤘
Fantastic guitars! Thank you
Rabea - I love your playing man - you killed this one. Clearly you like the mans chops too which clearly shows.
Cheers guys, sounded great, impressive stuff. :)
Great job. One of the BEST yet.
I would like to see a sounds like for Paradise Lost and Threshold.
This is the sound like....... I’ve been waiting for! Thanks fellas!
What a beautiful tone!
I have heard guys running luke ball reserves with bognors that dont even sound 1/8 as close. Your playing is right on. Its truly all in the hands. You can tell this guy is a huge Luke fan. Sounds just like his current Helios rig. Great job!
Awesome! Didn't know how bad I wanted/needed this video! You guys always deliver. So can we get a Journey video or even something off the wall like Brad Paisley or someone with complex cleans
Nailed it!! sounded sweet.
"One of the best for the money rigs we've ever done"
"Please note that we do not currently stock this guitar"
But they do stock a few very similar ones
I guess guitars signed by Steve Lukather are pretty rare anywhere... ;-)
This was a great one lads!
Nailed it, thanks guys!
Awesome Job!!! 😎
Nice job guys!
That sounded great!
A rack unit with and without busting the bank? Hits nostalgia and helps people who weren’t around learn maybe? Awesome stuff!
I have the 5 string MM special bass in Jet Black.... and its just freaking KILLER.
Nice job on the effort here!
Best tones I’ve heard for some time 👍
Very impressed of the "Xotic SP Compressor Guitar Effects Pedal"....great feedback tone...i must try one myself. Awesome playing too :-)
That guitar sounds amazing. And I'm not a fan of Katana amps, but the Artiste sounds killer!
Really would love to see a sounds like....Duane Allman...Allman Brothers...Derek Trucks.
Nice job great playing.
killer tones guys ! that katana is something !
Love your guys' content but I'm gonna slap the like button for your dope Karnivool Sound Awake shirt.
That rig sounds amazing for the money.
Sound like Def Leppard! Without busting please :)
Well done, guys!
Bea really enjoing this rig, riffs and leads
Loved that!!
Frog leap version of Africa would of been a fun addition
Mike Massey's version is impressive
The one Rabea's on? That's a bit self-serving
@@DerekHartley introducing more of the world to the glory of his shredds is serving humanity not himself ... Really he is Jesus the second coming
It’s very interesting that you can do a sounds like of Rosanna when Steve was playing either an Ibanez Roadstar 2 or Valley Arts super strat through a boogie - totally different to his set up today, and get the sound by approximating his current (active p90 pickups instead of single coils through a bogner). In fact I don’t think he had moved to Music man for any of the riffs used in the video (except maybe Pamela) and during the isolation period he was playing though a Rivera amp before switching to Soldano for a while!
@@GigiUK thats definitely not true. He may have regularly used a Les Paul before he went to Music Man, and yes thats what he played on Hold the Line, but by the 80s, Lukather was a leading Superstrat guy. There is plenty of footage of him using his Signature Ibanez Road Star II in '83 and '84 and the Robot artwork Valley arts guitar was his no. one from 85 (before it got that paint job) until about 2004.
Check this video to see it: ua-cam.com/video/nbonxuOLB80/v-deo.html
Very clearly he gets the Lukather Tone from a Bridge Position EMG active Humbucker, NOT the p90s mentioned in the video, which have been his choice only since 1990. It was all about a superstrat through a boogie or a Rivera during the period of most of the licks in the video.
Per Sterling..."Only the initial run of LK100D guitars (2014-2017) come equipped with DiMarzio Transition pickups. Both the LK100 and AL40 come equipped with Sterling by Music Man designed pickups that have been reverse-engineered from their Music Man counterparts to fit the price point.." That said - they a still GREAT pickups.
