I think what I like the most about this is during the moves he looks a lot more relaxed which is soft-power output. Sure Bruce liked to flex and show off a lot of muscle tension, but when you're transmitting force into an opponent your muscles can't be fighting the direction of the force by being overly tense. I love Danny's performance even if I disagree with the direction of the movie at times, but he really does have a bit too much tension in his movements and it shows a lot in his face.
actually you're supposed to tense some muscles (including the fist) right before impact. if you don't, a lot of the energy that would've otherwise went into the target gets lost. i don't know if bruce lee ever said otherwise but that's the generally accepted practice across many effective martial arts today like muay thai
@@ahverypro you have to tense muscles to even initiate the motion. But once you have proper form feeding the force of your weight through your target, it’s actually ideal to relax your muscles for two reasons: 1: The first move you made is pure and complete in execution without antagonistic force rebounding into your own body. 2: You’re free and clear to initiate another move often with the same limb with more dynamic muscle engagement, more adaptation to the threat, and even more force for the first move with a tear-drop motion. So it’s not that you’re completely wrong in execution, it’s that your foundation should be relaxed states where the “tensing the fist right before impact” could instead represent a dynamic technique with a variety of optional outcomes, such as a “snake punch.”
You’re over complicating things, what Perry said wasn’t disagreement with you, he just said that it’s standard doctrine to tense certain parts of your body punches and kicks etc. before impact. e.g. It’s standard doctrine within Wing Chun/Ving Tsun to tighten your fists and wrists when you hyper extend your arms to land a punch right before impact. When you roundhouse with say your left leg you ground yourself better if you tense your right thigh and calf up, as well as angling in & locking up your right ankle, which enhances the power of the kick.
@@dillonnikolausmatteusl3075 right and I’m not going to pretend to argue that someone is completely wrong, etc. We all have what works for us, and it probably works extremely well, because of two major reasons: 1: Familiarity from hundreds of reps with many different kinds of opponents. 2: Being muscular and fit is steps above and ahead of 90% of the population and even offers an intimidation factor that can feed success even if it allows for bias. For instance the roundhouse kick you’re describing works in the way you described but for a specific purpose. In your example, the kick starts with the rotation of the hips and the weight transfer starts with the foot of your right leg on the ground. On impact your planted leg is tightest at the moment of impact. You tense the planted leg to stay stable. So let’s say you’re moving toward the target, your force in a predictable line, prepared at any point to stop one leg and snap the other in that kick. One problem I have with a focus on stability is if you get tackled by a second opponent you’re only choice is bringing the fight to the ground. But what if you could land the same powerful kick by using your opponent as a stabilizer, taking some weight and labor off of your right leg and forcing your opponent to carry it? Okay, the way I would describe the kick itself in a foundation of movement would be “anchoring” your joints from your hip down to your knee and finally your ankle. So technically at the moment of impact, each joint contributing to the strike is locked in relation to each other. Yes it requires some muscle tension to achieve this, but in my experience that’s not the same thing as the kind of muscularity in your actual thigh, calf, or foot at full or even half tension. So in my opinion leaving your thigh and calf tight is just a muscle exercise and not strictly useful for power output. And as I said to start with, it can be detrimental due to requiring more effort, tiring you throughout the course of a conflict, and by being tense you are taking some of the impact of your own strikes that could have just gone pretty much completely into your opponent. Example: If on impact you imagine flicking mud off of your foot, you’ll naturally relax those muscles while keeping your ankle anchored. Further, if the line drawn through your leg joints is parallel to the rest of your body’s natural orientation, that’s being in good form and good habits to prevent injury. So at each stage of motion your body can articulate good power without huge muscles. It’s nice to have muscles. My point is overall dynamic fitness is much more desirable for a fighter, and even if you can’t or won’t build muscle like your peers, you absolutely can punch above your weight class.
dude those side shots are fucking flawless. only the front shots are a little flat but isnt anything that couldnt be fixed with 3d projection. but even with that flatter look its worth it because of how much more it looks like bruce lee than the official version. great job!

4:02 You can even see the seriousness in bruce lee's fce compared to the actor, even when passed away he still remains the face of a warrior no of a general!!!
I feel like one of the problems with deepfakes is the eyes always look a little dead or soulless. Maybe some digital enhancement like an eye light would help.
Yeah that seems to be a general problem. I noticed the eyes hardly have any specular highlights. And maybe really small eye movements are also getting lost?
Patrick Nan, dude you have some amazing skills. I appreciate the time and effort you have put into this art. Keep up doing it if you wish and I will thank you in advance. What a great way to honor the master Bruce Lee.
After decades of watching Danny Chan play near flawless renditions of the iconic legend, I've learned you can Deepfake Bruce Lee's face on anyone, but you can't FAKE the DEEP commitment Danny has always brought to his Lee portrayals. The man literally loses himself in the character.

Great Deepfake, but damn did this franchise take a dive. I wasn't able to get through 3 so I never saw Ip - Man 4. After this, I am happy I never attempted to.
Ip Man 1 is more of a serious drama, the rest of the films are more typical martial arts films that aren't necessarily realistic but still pretty entertaining.

We all have what works for us, and it probably works extremely well, because of two major reasons:
1: Familiarity from hundreds of reps with many different kinds of opponents.
My point is overall dynamic fitness is much more desirable for a fighter, and even if you can’t or won’t build muscle like your peers, you absolutely can punch above your weight class.
those scenes in the diner are insane. amazing work
dude those side shots are fucking flawless. only the front shots are a little flat but isnt anything that couldnt be fixed with 3d projection. but even with that flatter look its worth it because of how much more it looks like bruce lee than the official version. great job!
The whole movie needs to be done that way. Brings Bruce back to life!
it''s will be an insult to the actor that play bruce
I’m old enough to remember the impact Bruce Lee made to the martial arts world that I was so enamored with when I was a kid.
Seeing this deep fake hit me right smack in the feels. Idk how else to feel about this, it’s strange. Uncanny valley or something. But watching this got my stomach tied up in a knot. Lol.
They should've used this deepfake in the movie itself, love it
what a friggin wonderful job! amazing way to honor the Legend! Thank you Patrick! My only regret is they didn't have Danny remove his sunglasses at the end during Ip Man's funeral. That would have been beautiful have seen deep faked with Bruce!
Well done....though it does make me miss Bruce Lee that much more. Amazing, Patrick!
This is so good!
Patrick Nan, dude you have some amazing skills. I appreciate the time and effort you have put into this art.
Keep up doing it if you wish and I will thank you in advance. What a great way to honor the master Bruce Lee.
Your work is great this is one of the best I've seen!
I loved this and had a dumb smile on my face the whole time. 😃
After decades of watching Danny Chan play near flawless renditions of the iconic legend, I've learned you can Deepfake Bruce Lee's face on anyone, but you can't FAKE the DEEP commitment Danny has always brought to his Lee portrayals. The man literally loses himself in the character.
Very close to the real actor the actor they used
Your art is beautiful. I cried. Thank you for making this.
Insane work!
The average viewer wouldn't even notice.. also this would have been really great and definetly possible for the original creators
Actually, the first fighting scene at the tournament was done very good in the film (without Deepfake), I was very impressed to bo honest. The actor and the film crew did well on that one.
bem que podiam fazer um filme novo do bruce lee nesse estilo!
Poderia ser uma saga igual fizeram com o Ip Man
Nossa seria muito dahora
Great Deepfake, but damn did this franchise take a dive. I wasn't able to get through 3 so I never saw Ip - Man 4. After this, I am happy I never attempted to.
Ip Man 1 is more of a serious drama, the rest of the films are more typical martial arts films that aren't necessarily realistic but still pretty entertaining.
@@calebhu6383 I'm not necessarily looking for realistic. I just don't find them to be made as well; the art of the craft suffered, in my opinion.
Wow !! Good For You For Being Able To Create This. You Have Awesome Talent.
Amazing work man. Giant studios should have notice you by now.
Deepfake seems odd think the hairstyle isnt really bruce lee accurate, but fitted the actor more.
what are you talking about? that is exactly how bruce lee's hairstyle was, have you seen any photos of him outside of movies??
bruce lee is epic it's always cool to see these digital recreations it's art
Not sure how this came up in my recommendations but well done sir.
Amazing job on the deepfake. Also the thumbs up at the end always cracks me up.
that's chilling. i cried. i miss Bruce lee. thank you for the content, these are the reasons to use deep fake
