Awesome find again! Christ im getting old. (Was a Junior in high school when this came out, and had just discovered SY). Also, for a 'primitive' 80's cam-corder, this sounds amazing!
OMG!! It IS Steve Albini!! I was baffled because in the 'Hold that Tiger' record from this performance, Thurston introduces; 'Vic Bondy, ladies nad gentleman' (that bit is not included in this video). Vic Bondy was the singer for the Chicago hardcore band Articles of Faith; he and Steve had a feud going on at the time...The whole 'Hold that Tiger' record is full of these decieving things. Like the cover depicts the band Pussy Galore, not Sonic Youth!!
@@ScottishTeeVee When I was a kid at school here in South Africa in '85 I got Bad Moon Rising. I used to study that album cover like it was the holy grail. That Halloween scarecrow and the band pic on the back. You have to understand to us NYC was like the far side of the moon. We couldnt even get Levi's jeans in ZA. They just looked like the coolest motherfuckers on the planet.

From the description: *"the audio is a little overloaded / distorted, the image is very dark..."*
It's _perfect._
This is where Hold That Tiger came from !. Insane to actually get to see it after listening to it.
Hold that tiger!
Thanks for being here so fast and getting the first comment.🏆

I can't think of any other bands that sounded like this in 1987. Progenitors.
34:40 Death Valley 69. For those who care.
So cool, the sound and lights are just capturing the right mystique! Would have loved being there.

Such legends! ♥️
Amongst the beautiful noise is some stunning drumming by Steve Shelley.
SY 's first live show in Japan was at Shinjyku LOFT of Tokyo in 1988, i was there💖💖
You very lucky person. Thanks for watching and commenting
55:15 Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World
so cool, rest in peace steve
This is so great!
Just been listening to Sonic Youth after they were an answer on Monday's University Challenge.
Not to be confused with Musical Youth! 😂
sorry to peach, but my faves- EVOL, Bad Moon Rising, Washing Machine, and A Thousand Leaves. Sister good as well, of course.
Was that Steve Albini introducing them? Thanks for the video
Came here to say this.
He had to get back to his CP collection

Steve Albini introduction!
I am in the audience 😊
Awesome!
Awesome.
What a raw energy Brother James! ❤
Whole concert is super, thanks for uploading!
A lot of folks don’t “get” SY imho. The sound they were capable of was transcendent; like a whole different scale of emotional frequency.
I agree, can feel similar to a gong sound bath, in a meditative way
WOW they were on fire !🤩
Top footage mate. 🎱
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it

Tom Violence very good
the man Steve Albini with the intro❤
Amazing

Yeah, I've been looking for this for about 7 years. Shows how sped up Hold That Tiger is. Are those scanlines a filter?
I wish the Baton Rouge LA '86 show was videotaped, though I cant stand SY now
That’s Steve Albini doing the introduction
It certainly is
RIP
wow
It's sad to think that Creed's "Higher" is actually derived from "Schizophrenia".
What?? That can't be true lol
Noise annoys. Too many crime being committed against my eardrums here.
