I just did a complete kitchen cabinet tear down and rebuild. The Atomic Drill driver hit the mark perfect for my needs. The light weight helped while putting up the upper cabinets with arm relief and I can verify it can drill 1/8" holes and screw in 2 1/2" #10 cabinet screws in to Hickory all the way and all day with a battery swap. If you need the XR version, you either use it every day in a pro capacity or your OCD. The Atomic 20v will handle homeowner needs easily and a lot more easy on your bank account.
I've been really happy with the atomic Impact driver. I use it mostly in auto mechanics. It gets into tight places. It is super light so it doesn't wear you out. The weight of a tool over an entire day of using it pretty important. It has plenty of power. I think a small light tool like this fits in for all those 10-15mm bolts. When I have to go bigger I step it up to a real impact. The battery typically lasts me through and entire job just fine. If not I will slide on a 2ah while it charges. The only thing that would make it better is if they would make one with a 3/8" anvil on it.
I bought this kit in like April or so and I've been super happy with it. The batteries haven't been an issue for me thus far. They are crazy light which has been super convenient, and it is nice have that drill driver be so compact.
I work in Low Voltage/Data Integration, and the Atomic is great for how small it is. I doubt I ever run more than 15-20 screws in a day for maintenance, so having something small and light is pretty handy.
Seems like a pretty good combo for the price. I like to have a combination of battery sizes. For all day work, a good 5 or 6 ah battery is good to have. But working at home, a lightweight battery such as the 1.5 ah is also good to have.
1.5s are nice for weight on a 2nd drill or a tool you will barely use.
Picked up the Atomic drill today. If you need a light weight compact drill this thing is awesome. As far as the battery more amp hrs means bigger battery and i wanted compact on this.
2.0 amp hr same size and not noticeable weight also have indicator light for power

Yep....after seeing your first video regarding these two tools, I'm still planning on getting the drill/driver. However for the impact driver, I'll stick to the XR version or the 885.
None come close to my Metabo D60 but they are wireless and convenient. Took your advice and went with Milwaukee. My old Swiss and German power tools still run circles around any American or now Chinese made tools. Three generations of daily use later and they are still running!

I just got these for Christmas and once you place pressure on the impact driver with a drill bit, the wobble isn't as bad and the holes are fine. I have the 12volt Dewalt brushless set myself and the impact driver has a fair bit of wobble. However I use it almost everyday in my woodshop and the holes it drills are solid once pressure is placed on the impact driver and drill bit. The Atomic set I catch myself using more and more. There is a newer model Atomic impact but it only gives 125 more inch lbs of torque. Even though the new Atomic is approximately 29% smaller I can't justify getting the newer model. I think they are great tools.
The combo is on sale at HD for $150. That is a great price for reasonably good compact tools.
I saw the combo at HD today and it comes with two 1.3 Ah batteries. I know they're trying to keep the weight (and cost) down, but 2.0 Ah battery packs last much longer.
I work at a sugar bush, where we tap maple trees and collect the sap to make maple syrup. We have tons of drills and I know for a fact that these dewalt tools at just as good as any of the others, and the batteries last longer in the cold.
It's like that for most kits whether its Dewalt, Ryobi, Rigid, etc. Its a starter kit to get you going with a small battery. I may not be in construction like you do for a living Vince. And truly respect the trade as a computer technician. It's to get someone started with the kit you can get larger batteries for them for longer runtime to work with. I realized that even with Ryobi when I bought two of their starter kita and it came with the 18volt 1.3 amp hour batteries. Picked up some 3, 4 , 6 and 9 amp hour batteries in just those cases for the longer runtime on the drill and normal operating times for the other tools.
Nice funny comments out there... As for the battery fuel meter, i just hooked a small voltmeter integrated within the charger DCB107 (i made some cuts with the casing). So whenever i want to check the volts level, I just insert the battery to the charger, i can also monitor this while charging.

I'm a Dewalt guy but when it comes to this type of Driver tool I went with a Surge. I waited as long as I could for Dewalt to address the driver problems and when they presented this I ordered a Surge!
I bought this combo kit at Home Depot on 11/5/21. They had a special buy for a limited time and I paid $149.00 for the kit. I used it a few times and was very impressed with it. I'll be purchasing more batteries with a higher Ah in the near future.

I bought the exact kit today. For around the house stuff where they each will only be used a few times a year they should be plenty good for my needs.
I like watching my tool in action, there's no wobble in this Chuck.
The batteries on my old 14.4 Dewalt finally died so this atomic set was the replacement So far I have used the atomic set to build a small building, lots of screws to drive and holes to drill. Both tools and batteries preformed great. I particularly like the compact size and power. I have recently added a 2 AH battery to the set, just as a back up.
I bought my brand new Dewalts power drill at HD today, for $99.99. The smaller bit set was only $15.
Ive always wanted a "Manly Man Big Boy" power drill. Im extremely happy that I chose this 20V drill. Even happier for the numerous informative & helpful YT Vids.
It feels perfect in my hand... Every woman needs a decent power drill (for basic home DIYs), in her Tool Box Repertoire! 😜

i use 1.5AH batteries on one of my impact drivers when im just fixing electrical wall plates etc. no weight and lasts plenty
I picked this kit (drill + impact) up for $150 on sale. For that price I think this kit is a pretty great deal especially if you're upgrading from some cheapo harbor freight drills like I was. Full $240msrp seems a bit high.
They were on sale at Home Depot for 149 and they gave me a 50 dollar discount on this set just for applying for a Home Depot credit card lol these are a big upgrade from the Ryobi drills I use

Absolutely agree about the battery. I bought a tool that came with a 1.5Ah battery when I thought it would have a 2.0 and I was pretty disappointed.
That battery will probably sit in the shelf and rarely if ever get used. They might as well not include a battery and drop the price $10 or give us a 2.0Ah unit!

Home Depot has the atomic combo for $179. Amazon has the DCF887 / DCD996 (aka flexvolt starter) combo for $297. The DCD996 is overkill for everything I'm doing and the DCF887 may burn up like a campfire marshmallow. But for $118 more you get dewalt's top end hammer drill and impact driver, a 6ah battery, and the quick charger. The flexvolt battery alone sells separately for $150, so you're basically getting the charger and tool upgrades for free.
The Dewalt atomic tools is supposed to replace there low end tools. The Atomic tools are all brushless so there stepping up the low-end tools.
Yeah, I think everyone is misinterpreting the intent of this line of tools. Price is a little high though

@@Wazoo117 Because the brushless motor is not cheaper than the brushed motor in the 12v drill. 12V drill/impact are worst.
My DCF850 collet started wobbling like crazy and wouldn't hold bits after a couple weeks of mechanic use. I did use it to put a whole in an exhaust pipe with a circular saw 1/4 bit. Maybe it was too much for the little guy. But exhaust pipe isn't all that thick tho.
Loved the video. Will pass on the tool. The older DCD791 "Made in the USA" is simply a much better tool.
Appreciate the reviews, especially with DeWalt coming up with more lines than Baskin Robbins. I'll stick with the XR line.

@@venturaperformance Milwaukee Fuel delivers the most powerful pretty consistently across impacts and drills from the videos Ive seen. Fuels wins everything. Dewalt has better LED lighting, but that's probably the only thing "better." I think a big thing is, do you want other Dewalt tools, or do you want more Milwaukee tools.

These aren't part of the XR line is it? Ignoring the MSRP, Can it be assumed these are supposed to be budget entry? It has all the lowest accessories. I really wanted this to be great. How bright is that light on the drill?
I don't think they're part of the XR line. This is just the standard 20v series, just with the word atomic stamped on it.
It's not XR but it does have the brushless motor

I built a patio on 2 batteries 1.5ah but had to charge them everyday during project. Sometimes half way through. The economics of atomic make them keepers for all around light to medium tasks.

I much rather get the 20 volt XR series impact driver because they are made in USA and come with a fast charger and bigger batteries. If you want better than dewalt, you will have to fork out a pretty penny on festool, fein, or Hilti.

damn man, i was just going to order the atomic kit for my pops too.
i have the drill and impact and work construction. so far they work just fine. there are better options but for the price honestly they kind of kick ass.

I've got the DCD708 which I think is the drill in this video and I love it for the most part. I'd love for some more rpm's on the second speed setting and the battery it was included with (1.5 ah) could be better. Besides that it's been great in my projects over the last year.

The black and decker are almost never worth buying at any price. With all the options in tools these days for just a few more dollars you could get ryobi and be light-years better than that black and decker with a massive tool lineup

Milwaukee don't mess around they get to the point. I've always preferred there sawzall over any ever made. Milwaukee all time best corded sawzall my first one lasted over 10 years and I was hard on it.. toward the end it was my oldest tool in the box. Buddy of mine dropped it in the deep end of a swimming pool once.. plugged it in the next day and boom still trucking.

paid 225 for these and as an hvac tech I gota say this is a great bargain, and you save $200 bucks by not buying a guciwalkie
With any quick release hex chuck tool, there is going to be significant wobble that varies based on the bit used and the tolerances etc.
Wobble on a drill chuck should be much less and more consistent. You could get a run out dial gauge and use the same bit to test all drills if you really wanted to go hardcore.
Might make for a good video by itself, just test a whole bunch of drills for run out, especially since they have all been beat on through TTR!

I need a decent combo. All things considered Im sure I'll go with the DeWalt. Theres no doubt that Milwaukee is more powerful, but for the average dude DeWalt is perfectly fine for the price. If you're a contractor or rich then I guess the Milwaukee would be the way to go, but average joe? DeWalt.
I don't think this kit is worth the money at 229, but where I work we have them on sale for 149.99 and that is hard to beat regardless of the size of batteries

I may have to rethink my opinion of the Atomic line. If these tools are (as I suspect) intended to purge the similar brushed tools from the lineup and become the lower end offerings then they make sense. This is truly "beginner" DeWalt in specs, power, features etc. however very viable tools on an entry level. Batteries/chargers are compatible with the big boys allowing buyers to "step up" whenever they want or can. Dad can set his kid up with a DeWalt kit "just like his" for a considerably lower price. On those terms (marketing+establishing product levels) I would have to say that I think the Atomic lineup is a good idea.

Still, better than Dewalt's impact/drill 12v version for if want smaller. 12v version is the worst in my opinion. Also, it is not something you are supposed to running the impact without actual drilling or screwing. The chunk that looks loose is usually normal.
Guy at work bought these. Couldn't sink a screw into a pre drilled hole. It was a aluminum post with a double steel u channel inside. I told him to take them home... these are toys not tools. He looked at my 3 speed hammer drill and 3 speed impact with lust in his eyes.

Did you measure if atomic radiation levels from these tools are within safe ranges? Currently, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission states that members of the public should not receive more than 2 millirem (about 0.002 Roentgen) of radiation in any one hour from external radiation sources in any public area.
