"I am the reason this game doesn't have voice chat." I told a friend this quote, and they suggested that the game (or the Switch remake/sequel) could have voice chat, and if the input volume goes above a certain level (maybe detected by audio clipping?), it turns everything the person says into "angry woomy-ing".
you can still curse in a quiet voice, also part of the reason they don't have voice chat is because of all the different nationalities of people playing. if you play with japanese players, which happens a lot, there's no point in voice chat unless you can speak japanese
I assumed it didn't have voice chat so people all over the world cold play together without language barrier problems. It allows matches to be filled easier/more quickly for what could have been a pretty niche game.
Considering how long the game's been out, he's probably a veteran who got bored. I mean, Level 3 does get the Splattershot and that's all you need. He also had no name.
Yeah, I figured they probably were, even I started over in this game (though in my case is was due to my save file being deleted). It's still funny though seeing the one person at level 3 do far better than her level 50 teammates.
I think I'm suffering from the Chuggaaconroy effect. Anything Emile LP's, I really, REALLY get the urge to want to play that game. For example: Super Mario Galaxy - I wasn't too interested in the LP but I still bought, played, and beat the game with 120 stars. Super Paper Mario - This LP made me want to play The Thousand Door again, so I did. Xenoblade Chronicles - Never heard of the game before the LP, ended up buying a copy and spending 120 hours playing it. Pikmin 3 - Never played a Pikmin game before, but I buy both Pikmin 1 and 2 by the end of it. Luigis Mansion Dark Moon - I thought the game was crap but I played it again anyway. I also played the original again as well. Pokemon Platinum - I end up buying SoulSilver on eBay and put 28 hours in it over the span of 2 weeks. (I actually got Pokerus in this playthrough lol) Splatoon - I don't own a wii u, but now I REALLY want to try this game because it looks fun and I'm quite good at shooters.
Chef Jeff same, he's gotten me into Wind Waker which is one of my favorite games now, Xenoblade, Pikmin 3, and now I'm back into Splatoon. The chugga effect is real.
Same here. I don't have a Wii U, but I really want to play splatoon now. I really hope they make a version for the Nintendo Switch that's coming out in March.
Aye. The heavy focus on a certain style of support, with Subweapon and Special both being more "inkdirect" in comparison to other weapons, seems to make it paintful to use. If its Special were one of the more "nuke-like" ones, like Kraken or Ink-Strike or that Wail thingy, it wouldn't be too hobbled by the main weapon and the debuffing subweapon.
+bfidle I don't think you can hear the sounds before the fight. I've tried and I only heard them after the boss fight on world two. Still really chilling though.
You can indeed do it before the Octostomp fight and I think before and after every fight, including the final boss. I've done it before the Octostomp fight and there's even a video on it too.
I feel like the European taunts in this game are a lot more helpful. You have 'To Me' over 'C'mon' to signal that your in danger or your turf is being contested so someone is alert to come and help, and 'Nice' over 'booyah' as it feels like a better congratulatory sayings after a teammate gets a cool kill
Hyper Sensitive Ego Yeah. And to this day there's no explanation. There's not just screams, but like--...well, I don't want to give too much away to the rest of these guys.
The Leafeon I like the purple tank on the side that has a massive volume of .00000001mL. Oh also why is one of the guns taken down in the low-res shop, but a different one is in the high-res shop?
9:55 To splat foes is my real test. To paint floors is my cause! I will travel across the stage, inking far and wide. Each weapon set to understand the power that's inside. Weapon types! Gotta use 'em all! It's my team and me. I know it's my destiny! Weapon sets! Ink's a squid's best friend, on this turf we must defend. Weapon types! Gotta try 'em all! My aim is true. irfanRiodile I don't personally agree with some of those recommendations. Special Duration Up on echo weapons is kind of trash and Defense Up sucks on both Jrs anyway.
Well, to be fair. Special Duration-Up, from what I know, has no effect on Echolocator. Special Charge Up and Tenacity would work better to get Echolocator more often. Stealthy abilities like Ninja Squid, Stealth Jump, and Cold-blooded also work since you're mostly playing stealth with Custom Splattershot Jr. Bomb Range Up is also good to throw Disruptors further. Then there are Ink Resistance Up, Defense Up, both Ink Savers, and Ink Recovery Up. I guess Swim Speed Up is also good? That's all I know about Custom Splattershot Jr. though.
irfanRiodile irfanRiodile Duration Up actually does affect echo. It can increase active time to 12 seconds with max duration Up (which is bad because a: you need max duration Up to get the effects of pre 2.6.0 echo, which eats up helpful abilities, and b: just why?). Bomb Range works wonders for this thing for sure. Don't really need ink savers or ink recovery because all things considered, you have decent ink efficiency, and you don't really need to throw more disruptors than you can (it can help, but it's not a necessity). Ninja Squid can work but you need to invest more into swim speed to counter the slower speed. Ink resistance goes without saying, and Stealth Jump isn't terrible either. The reason you don't really need defense in my eyes is because you're not really the type of weapon that wants to be confronting things like 52 Gal or Tentatek. Rather, you're trying to either stay out of the fighting and spam disruptors/echo or flank people when they least expect it. Yes it helps with fighting them, but they can just stay to range and kill you anyway without worrying too much about the defense you're running, and 52 Gals will, more often than not, have damage up to make said defense useless anyway.
Strange... I always did my best with the custom junior. Of course I treated it more like a splat roller with slightly more range, but if you get behind the frontlines and pop the echolocator, you can basically go full predator.
I have to say, I'm impressed by how these videos are. They're very creative and very well put together. If my brother could give Emile a chance, maybe he would see Emile for the amazing person he is rather than just some internet sensation. Is being a sensation the only thing that truly matters? I don't think so. There's more to people like Emile than just their fame. I believe that. Honestly, I do.
As much as I enjoy this, I feel like his gun-tips would have been more used had he done this closer to Splatoon's peak. Most people getting into it now already have been taught by the meta and any left already have their loadouts set. Still fun, but I wish it was better timed to actually help more players.
For the custom splattershot jr, it's best to play with the mindset of a roller, using any tactics they would normally do. Also i would recommend the ability haunt. it works well with the disruptor. If u disrupt the enemy & get splatted, they have to struggle while everyone knows where they're at. You'll be amazed how many change their strategy because of it. It won't guaranteed kills for you, but it does help your team out on them knowing where the enemy is. (That is if you die, which will happen A LOT). From someone who actually uses the custom splattershot jr.
I've been taking a Japanese course this school year, and I felt proud of myself when at 15:29 Emile said he could only read on of the player names, and I could (almost) all of the Japanese names (not translate mind you, just being able to read it and transcribe it into Romanji).
For example: the player at Level 35 (ひかりんりん). Their name in Romanji (Japanese transcribed into English basically) is hikarinnrinn (or, at least that's how you would type it on a computer to get it to spit out the proper Hiragana.
Haha. Ikr? I took a Japanese course during my final semester at my college. And to keep up with my knowledge of Katakana, which took me longer to memorize than the Hiragana (and I still have trouble with them occasionally), I play this game. Seriously, this game is shockingly /great/ Japanese reading practice. There's a /huge/ variety of Japanese names that you will see daily. and it'll be rare to see the same name twice if you leave the room and join a new one. {Also, since we're talking Japanese language here, I want to know who was responsible for creating the differences between "n" and "so" as well as "shi" and "tsu." In some fonts, it's almost impossible to tell which is which unless they're right next to each other, even if you know what to look for! xD)
Funny you mention slowdown in this video, because I've only ever experienced slowdown on Blackbelly. I'd say most of the matches I've ever played on Blackbelly have had slowdown and almost always within the first 30 seconds. Never experienced it on any other map though, unless you count when you shoot a guy fifty times and he doesn't die for another five seconds. Then you spontaneously combust and the game says he got you as it zooms into where he was standing.
As a Splattershot Jr. main it was great seeing that the Custom got a buff in its set for Splatoon 2. The Ink Storm is by far my favorite special, and the Autobomb is great for snuffing out opponents that most likely have more range than you.
Nice equipment recommendation, extends bubbler so well in a weapon that uses an Echolocator And that Defense up sure gives it the extra moment to activate it!
BlockSquad1000 Should you dedicate enough time to it, you can effectively use the weapon and be praised for your supportive abilities (just like with any weapon). Completely your call though.
I'm not a Custom Splattershot Jr. user, but from what I can tell, it has a playstyle closer to the Sploosh-o-matic than the rest of the Splattershot series. If used to flank and pick off unsuspecting opponents who are all by their lonesome, it can probably be a very big hindrance to the other team.
The Custom Splattershot Jr. isn't anywhere near as bad as Emile makes it out to be. Emile was playing it wrong; you're supposed to be super-aggressive in a _sneaky_ way with it (flank and get in close), not jump around in plain sight and approach from the front. The Custom-Jr. kit doesn't allow for a Blaster/Slosher, or Dynamo Roller play-style, which I'm betting Emile mains (ever since his episode 1). The Custom-Jr. is all about farming the Echolocator Special. Echolocator is a weird Special because it does nothing on its own, unlike the other Specials, but it's probably the best Special in the game. Splatoon greatly emphasizes sneaking and flanking, even more than other shooters (everyone can turn invisible, you can make your own camouflage, running is slower than in other shooters and all weapons are shorter range than in other shooters) so a special that makes every living opponent unable to hide can be very damning when fighting a team who is good at killing. The Echolocator is more likely to result in team-wipes than any other Special at higher skill play. The Custom-Jr. is the best at building Specials out of the weapons with Echolocator and unlike other Specials, the moment you activate the Echolocator, you can start charging your Special again, so unless you keep dying, you can be in a nearly constant state of echolocating. With how wide the spread of the Splattershot Jr. ink coverage is, it is also good at doing a technique called "Splatter-Dashing" in the west/"Raijin Step" in Japan that lets you maneuver quickly through enemy ink by covering small areas in your ink by shooting one shot down, swimming through it as a squid and popping up to repeat (you have to do this very, very quickly, with good timing and coordination, meaning it requires a lot of practice). This can help you get in close to kill. Emile made it look like the Custom-Jr. can barely get any kills, but I've been able to get 9 to 14 kills in multiple matches with my suggested play-style, and I don't even main it. Although, even with all this said, I think the Custom Splattershot Jr. is still not as good as the N-Zap '85 (longer range, more accurate, same fire-rate, about the same strength, has Splat Bombs and Echolocator, but is less ink-efficient and has a narrower spread).
***** It was my pleasure! Thank you for reading, considering and appreciating what I had to say! :D By the way, the N-Zap '85 having a narrower spread than the Custom Splattershot Jr. means it's not as good in close quarters as the Custom-Jr. (the random shot deviations can sometimes help) and is not as good at the Splatter-Dash/Raijin Step technique as the Custom-Jr., so ink efficiency isn't the only thing the Custom-Jr. has going for it.
As a Splatoon player myself, I am so excited to see you use some of the more... out there weapons in the game. Especially the ones that I'm bad with to see how you fair with them.
i can see the struggles you face with that weapon chugga but at least you know what to do but the first multi map today really killed you glad you bounced back in the second map. nice vid as always emile.
I strongly recommend the Ninja Squid skill on /any/ short-ranged, rapid-fire weapon. Especially for weapons that require you to get really close to make up for inaccuracies like the Splattershot Jr's and the Aerosprays. Being able to sneak up to your enemies is crucial in playing with these weapons and this aids /greatly/ in that endeavor.
just wanted to let you know chugga that Im really enjoying this series. id never heard of it before but im always looking forward to your episodes everyday. love from Australia
I actually main the Custom Splattershot Jr. The way that I found that helps reduce the problem with range is by having Ninja Squid equipped. It allows for a more hunt and assassinate play style which is only helped with the Echolocator-Disruptor combo. I do agree with Chuggaa, that abilities like Ink Resist Up and Bomb Range Up are effective abilities when paired with this weapon.
I can just imagine a Nintendo employee watching one of your videos and then hear all the puns, so he thought, "We can't have voice chat cause of this dude! THERE WOULD BE TOO MANY PUNS!" XD
i guess the custom jr is a great support for when you play together with someone else, and that other one plays the sniper, that way you are certain you have a good match-up and you can have great turf cover, you go through the map and a sniper backs you up, would even be better if you have a bigger team you can rely on when there is a sniper protector or something, might make a great tactic and a good use for the custom jr gun thingy. even better since the gun has a decent turf coverage.
I played this game once. I suck so bad that I gave up. I just love seeing you play this game and how skilled you are. Keep up the great multiplayer matches!
I think the reason Ancho-V games has slowdown despite being a small map is the same reason most Wii U games that have slowdown at times. Main reason is that this map is not only using the internet connection for multiplayer, but it's also downloading Miiverse posts to display during the gameplay. So the internet connection is processing more than it usually would be.
Honestly the only map where you can do anything with the custom splat is the Blackbelly, as long as you don't have any snipers. Short range will allow you to kill those on the sides of the tower trying to get to you. The bomb will work well as a gauge and the special will let you pinpoint wether you're being ganged up on
I somehow managed to get below the octostomp once, and it started to spin in place very violently as if it was a dog chasing it's own tail. A funny thing to do with all bosses is to hide in your ink and they would never find you.
I love the Jr. But the way I play it is I play super aggressive get behind enemy lines ink as much turf as possible and use the echolocater to make sure nobody's sneaking up on you
Also, I've had both horrible and amazing rounds where 19% would be a blessing for the losing team. You did better than I could with this weapon, if it somehow can't be called a chore. Finally, I feel your pain with the splatters... I died to a splatter from trying to avoid death and the fan was shot. One splatter was all it took for me to go on tilt that day.
I once had a match of Rainmaker on Mahi Mahi Resort that I won by incessant use of disruptors to stop the opposition from getting the Rainmaker closer to my base (because I would hit them with it, and they would fall short of their jump and plummet into the water).
Tbh I completely know how lacklustre the Custom Jr. is but I still like it. Mainly because I'm absolute garbage with any other weapon that comes with and disrupt or and echolocator
I actually really like the custom jr., I rush forward and disrupt and splat the other team, giving my teammates time to push forward. Won lots of matches with this one
This custom splatter shot JR seems more like a sitting around in the back covering the land while running away and alerting others. Not a pushing forward combat type of thing.
Hey, I just realized something: Booyah Base is a pun on the French fish soup, bouillabaisse. I can't believe it took me this long to notice that. I really do have a one-track mind. But you know, when you really think about it, it's actually very fitting; it's so perfect!!

Wow, the UK localization team sucks.
Actually, it's not entirely EU's fault. The European dub is strikingly similar to the original Japanese instead of the more liberal American dub.

It's funny how the custom jr went from trash in 1 to literally my favorite weapon in 2.
Umm.. Chugga? You're giving us the Splattershot Jr. recommendation, not Custom Splattershot Jr.
Or is it on purpose, perhaps?
irfanRiodile I don't personally agree with some of those recommendations. Special Duration Up on echo weapons is kind of trash and Defense Up sucks on both Jrs anyway.
Well, to be fair. Special Duration-Up, from what I know, has no effect on Echolocator.
Special Charge Up and Tenacity would work better to get Echolocator more often. irfanRiodile irfanRiodile Duration Up actually does affect echo.
Yes it helps with fighting them, but they can just stay to range and kill you anyway without worrying too much about the defense you're running, and 52 Gals will, more often than not, have damage up to make said defense useless anyway.
chuggaaconroy I am, actually. My apologies.. ^^;
Strange... I always did my best with the custom junior. Of course I treated it more like a splat roller with slightly more range, but if you get behind the frontlines and pop the echolocator, you can basically go full predator.
kinda sad chugga didn't talk about the creepy screaming after a boss dies
Not first, because I took the time to type this out instead of copy-pasting it for best speed
Can't wait for that camping episode ...

You know where im going with this .
Lets gather 'round the campfire and sing our campfire song
Our C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G song
Love the boss music and how it builds up, also the bosses are all really good
Hey Emile, will you be mentioning it when you get to your favorite weapon?
For the custom splattershot jr, it's best to play with the mindset of a roller, using any tactics they would normally do.
Also i would recommend the ability haunt. it works well with the disruptor. If u disrupt the enemy & get splatted, they have to struggle while everyone knows where they're at. You'll be amazed how many change their strategy because of it. It won't guaranteed kills for you, but it does help your team out on them knowing where the enemy is. (That is if you die, which will happen A LOT).
From someone who actually uses the custom splattershot jr.
That boss was an ugly Blooper and wore a box to hide its ugliness.
A Blooper with legs
A Blooper with Mettaton legs.
bit more like pooper2.0
It was a ugly octoling so ugly that everyone died. The end
{Also, since we're talking Japanese language here, I want to know who was responsible for creating the differences between "n" and "so" as well as "shi" and "tsu." In some fonts, it's almost impossible to tell which is which unless they're right next to each other, even if you know what to look for! xD)
Anyone else amused that the level 3's name was blank?
20:31
Yes
Funny you mention slowdown in this video, because I've only ever experienced slowdown on Blackbelly. I'd say most of the matches I've ever played on Blackbelly have had slowdown and almost always within the first 30 seconds.
Never experienced it on any other map though, unless you count when you shoot a guy fifty times and he doesn't die for another five seconds. Then you spontaneously combust and the game says he got you as it zooms into where he was standing.
These videos made me wand to play splatoon again
Phrog agreed
Phrog yep me 2.
JUST
*DO*
IT
You should play! It's still great!
you made me try splatoon, I wasn't sure at first because shooter games aren't my thing, but splatoon is really fun after trying it
As a Splattershot Jr. main it was great seeing that the Custom got a buff in its set for Splatoon 2. The Ink Storm is by far my favorite special, and the Autobomb is great for snuffing out opponents that most likely have more range than you.
8:17
"Splatted gaybot5000"
ok
Thanks Chugga for saving me from the horrible house party that's going on right outside my college room right now.
Why didn't you show off the creepy sounds that play in boss levels?
Nice equipment recommendation, extends bubbler so well in a weapon that uses an Echolocator
And that Defense up sure gives it the extra moment to activate it!
Well, I know I'm not using the Custom Splattershot Jr. when I get this game xD
Although, even with all this said, I think the Custom Splattershot Jr. is still not as good as the N-Zap '85 (longer range, more accurate, same fire-rate, about the same strength, has Splat Bombs and Echolocator, but is less ink-efficient and has a narrower spread).
chaowalker Ok, thanks for that bio! I'm planning to get this game and want to know what weapons to use, is all. This was very helpful :)
***** It was my pleasure! Thank you for reading, considering and appreciating what I had to say! :D
By the way, the N-Zap '85 having a narrower spread than the Custom Splattershot Jr. means it's not as good in close quarters as the Custom-Jr.
I LUV U CHUGGA
Lucky break, a Chugga video!
If only finding a Lucky Egg in Platinum was this lucky.
I'm so early and I didn't even get a notification
Pinky Pie Nobody cares. Please fuck off away from this area.

"...playing a role that, to no one's surprise, goes against my patience." Next one's a sniper folks!
I agree, all boss fights in Splatoon are amazing!
i can see the struggles you face with that weapon chugga but at least you know what to do but the first multi map today really killed you glad you bounced back in the second map. nice vid as always emile.
I like how you have been doing this LP its really unique.
It's so good to hear your bad puns again. They make me smile; I have always loved bad puns. ^_^
just wanted to let you know chugga that Im really enjoying this series. id never heard of it before but im always looking forward to your episodes everyday. love from Australia
"I'm going to let my super colorful diarrhea do my walking for me." -Chuggaaconroy 2016
I love the Custom Splatter Jr and the Disruptor makes 1-on-1 fights much easier.
Disruptors are something I don't see much of. I can only recall seeing it once in recent sessions.
I ran the Custom Jr. for a while. Ran around aggressively inking and constantly echolocating, helped win quite a few victories.
I played this game once. I suck so bad that I gave up. I just love seeing you play this game and how skilled you are. Keep up the great multiplayer matches!
Loving this series. Keep up the good work!
The bomb will work well as a gauge and the special will let you pinpoint wether you're being ganged up on
The OG Splattershot Jr. sounds like Juggernaut Titans in Destiny. People are complaining about them being OP right now!
I somehow managed to get below the octostomp once, and it started to spin in place very violently as if it was a dog chasing it's own tail. A funny thing to do with all bosses is to hide in your ink and they would never find you.
The Splattershot Jr custom can be good for your team mates, though, so the subs don't necessarily have to flow with your particular gun.
I officially need Splatoon. I forgot how fun these videos looked. I hope I can get the Switch for Splatoon 2.
Chugga, are you ever going to mention the slightly terrifying background noises after a boss fight?
I think they add a lot to the story of the game.
I love the Jr. But the way I play it is I play super aggressive get behind enemy lines ink as much turf as possible and use the echolocater to make sure nobody's sneaking up on you
The road is useful as a safe spot when you play octo-expansion because octostomp is kinda tough there
Also, I've had both horrible and amazing rounds where 19% would be a blessing for the losing team. You did better than I could with this weapon, if it somehow can't be called a chore. Finally, I feel your pain with the splatters... I died to a splatter from trying to avoid death and the fan was shot. One splatter was all it took for me to go on tilt that day.
Thank you for making that reference! I was hoping you'd make it!
9:55 That made my day. To splat them is my real test, to spray then is my cause.
Rollers for days for me. I'm a close-range fighter in this game, even if I need to work on my stealth game...
The difficulty from the Splattershot Jr to the Custom Jr *ink* creases a LOT!
No i'm just squidding.
1:38- "Go ahead and smash me again if you want to".
annnnnnnnd Chugga subconsciously makes yet another innuendo!
In the equipment recommendations, twice it mentions something is useful for the bubbler, and not the echolocater.
Custom Splattershot Jr. actually is pretty fun, and I've managed to have a little luck with it.
This custom splatter shot JR seems more like a sitting around in the back covering the land while running away and alerting others. Not a pushing forward combat type of thing.
Emile: I can destroy two sprinklers with this weapon, yeah.
*Proceeds to only destroy one of them*
Finally... he splatted Cap'n Cuttlefish. I've been waiting form him to do that.
Hey, I just realized something: Booyah Base is a pun on the French fish soup, bouillabaisse. I can't believe it took me this long to notice that. I really do have a one-track mind. But you know, when you really think about it, it's actually very fitting; it's so perfect!!
I can still hear the final boss music miles from now
c'mon emile this is a kids game you can't just empty your tank on the captain right from the start!
That was a pretty interesting first boss fight. It did seem very short, but oh well.
This game made me buy splatoon again
Yes I bought then I sold it now I've bought it back
the custom splattershot JR is my main weapon. I typically dont use the sub weapons that much but I love the echolocator
God, I've had Splatoon since launch and just now got the Ammo Knights pun
