The way the Mario & Luigi series exponentially went from having the final boss inside a stomach, to a level of the game inside a stomach, to being inside a stomach/body being a major plot point and at least a third of the gameplay still gets me.
Hearing people talk about performance issues on 3DS games also makes me appreciate just how good Luma3DS is at properly utilising the full capabilities of the N3DS' improved ARM11. Bowser's Inside Story? No issues. Snake Eater? Runs perfectly. Pokémon Gen 6/7? Still a bit of chop, but far less. The only thing that really noticeably tanks things is trying to play Hyrule Warriors Legends in 3D.
Yeah, because Chugga never let Luigi get hit. I agree, it's really clever of them to do that. Wonder if she doesn't do that if you do get hit in the fight, or if Luigi just doesn't take the damage. If he does take the damage, what would happen if he was at 1 hp? Hmm...

That's seriously the only problem I've got with this game. It was such a defining game for my childhood, and I'm so glad Emile's playing it. @azeria1 Partners in Time and Dreamteam both had much worse tutorials than Bowser's Inside Story did, but strangely enough, the last game Paper Jam was the one that got it right. That game actually observes how well you do in the tutorial battle and only if you mess up the timing, Starlow will ask if you want to hear an explanation. Same thing for new abilities, she's just like "Just try them out in this area, come talk to me if you need an explanation".
@@rainpooper7088 Yeah, it's honestly hilarious how few tutorials PJ has. Barely any going through normally, then any that were there were almost entirely skippable, on top of the FFWD button that you always have access to, and then I check the menu...and there's a whole dang LIST of SUBMENUS for all the different tutorials they just completely hide from you, complete with a dedicated tutorial area. And people say Nintendo doesn't listen lol. I think this went a little too far, especially with what they wanted DT to be with Year of Luigi and all that.

Fun remake facts, for those who want to know about the good (and the interesting), rather than focusing on the bad: - At the start of Bowser Jr's Journey, it's revealed Bowser's minions are also being affected by the Blorbs, meaning Bowser actually had a genuine reason to show up at the meeting. - The initial tutorial fight against Bowser uses the boss theme, instead of the normal battle theme, and Toadsworth shows up, gives you the Battle Guide, and leaves, without speaking a single tutorial. - While Mario and Luigi retain the omnidirectional movement of the other 3DS games, Bowser remains locked to the eight-way movement of the earlier games. Likely an artefact of the game not quite being finished. It's very noticeable when you play. - Since the Battle Guide is a thing now, Starlow doesn't constantly bombard you with tutorials in the Trash Pit, making the opening of the game far less of a slog to play through. - Green Shell's hit count is reduced, but in turn the final hit does more damage. Additionally, as with every other Special Attack in the remake, it will continue even if it defeats the last enemy, meaning you're not cheated out of badge charge.
Something worth mentioning about the remake, most if not all the battling tutorials adopted the "Wait till the player fails an input" approach, means this beginning section is less annoying for repeat play-throughs or seasoned players.
@@rainpooper7088 Brothership's plug system also seems kinda remniscent of PJ's card system with how they have intermediate effects between normal and special attacks, plus their interchangeability and multiple slots instead of just 1 per bro.

@MissRora unfortunately the next in line would be Kalos, and...from a design standpoint (visual and audio) it's probably up there as one of the better ones, but the story and lore I'd rank as the worst in the main series (not to fault the devs. I heard they were under massive crunch and had to cut quite a bit) and from a gameplay standpoint it is insultingly easy unless you cut off the entire gimmick added to the generation and aegislash (easily the most absurdly good mon in gen 6...debatably including the legendaries)
"You will have such fury!" Love that bit of callback/foreshadowing. Fawful was such a pain in the ass in the previousl M&L games, anyone who played them will recognize the little ratbastard's catchphrase immediately.
I first found your channel around 2017-2018, when i was disappointed that a gamecube game emulator got removed off of my high schools computers, i wanted to play Super Mario Sunshine, so i decided to look up a lets play of it and i found yours, your the very first lets player i ever watched, and then i watched more of your channel and enjoyed every lets play i watched, your the entire reason i found TRG and every one involved with it to begin with, I cant thank you enough for introducing me to so many great people who’s content has brought me enjoyment and laughter for years, and i cant think of a more perfect game to be the 50th its one of if not the best Mario and Luigi games, exited to watch the series. One thing the remake definitely handles better is the tutorials. Having so many of them skippable makes it my personal favourite version to play. Anyway, super glad to see you doing my favourite game ever made!

Bowser has every right to be here, especially since the remake reveals that Goombas can be blorbed too, how long until it can spread without a mushroom, how long untill Toads and Goombas AREN'T the only being affected by the blorbs, Starlow is responsible for Bowser losing his temper! If Starlowe had some self control, the events of the story wouldn't have played out, and a cure likely would have been found MUCH EARLIER!

Considering Bowser's history of kingdom-conquering and princess-kidnapping, can you really blame them for not wanting him at that meeting? Especially since he had already barged in uninvited and destroyed part of the Conference room. He wasn't really being nice about it, even if he claims that he was. Also, I'm not sure if Bowser's Domain is technically part of the Mushroom Kingdom. At least some pieces of media like Mario Odyssey and the Mario movie clearly treat Bowser's lair as a separate kingdom. He might just be claiming that he's part of the same kingdom because he thinks he has the right to rule it, even though he isn't.
I’ve had a rough 2 weeks; my car’s engine was blown, my coworker and mentor passed away from sickness, and I put down a dog on Halloween, so Chugga finally playing my all-time favorite game is a needed reprieve. Good work as always.

I do them on a different channel to keep my personal account safe (there's been cases where getting copyright struck makes you lose not just your UA-cam channel, but *_your entire Google Account,_* emails, purchases, your phone, everything), but Chugga is one of my primary inspirations for my LP style... especially for the aspect of "showing off _everything_ of a game, so even people who might never have a chance to play it for themselves, can still experience the game _through_ my LP of it".

@@plushy-plays Unless a game has Licensed Music in it (and the majority of games that do these days, have a Streamer Mode specifically because of that... or in Hi-Fi Rush's case, _made an entire second soundtrack_ specific for their game!), the probability of getting copyright struck for an LP, if you're only using content _from the game you're playing,_ is next to nil. I still did a separate-channel-on-separate-account as a precaution (in case of a Cookie's Bustle scenario), but as long as you're careful what "external content" you add to your videos, you should be fine! ...Besides, I think it's only if _specific companies_ like Disney strike you, that you lose the Google Account along with the channel...

I can’t believe after all these years he’s finally playing one of my favourite games of all time and the game that got me into the RPG genre and Emile helped play a part in getting me into the genre with games like Pokémon and Xenoblade. I’m so happy you’re back Emile.

*Toad Square* Starlow: Oh man, this is really bad. I'm supposed to report back to the Star Sprites about what's going on with the Blorbs, but now I'm trapped inside Bowser's body. What should I do? ... Oh, I know! I'll take some journal entries and keep track of what's going on. *grabs a notebook and pen from one of the shops* Ok, what to write about? ... Starlow's Log Day 1: This is Starlow, a representative from the Star Sprites sent down to the Mushroom Kingdom to investigate the cause of the Blorbs. I met with Princess Peach and her people to discuss the situation and what could be causing all of this. Our meeting was interrupted, however, when Bowser, King of the Koopas, showed up and tried to kidnap Peach. Thankfully, Mario was able to trounce him thanks to Peach and I weakening his strength and Peach threw Bowser outside of the castle. We were hoping to resume our meeting elsewhere, but suddenly, Bowser reappeared and swallowed us all whole! Now the princess, toads, Mario, Luigi, and I are trapped inside Bowser's body. How are we going to escape? I don't know, but I have faith Mario and Luigi will figure something out. Star Sprite Starlow signing out. Starlow: Ok, that should be good right now. Let's just hope the bros can figure something out. I figured I'd bring back the comment logs for the 50th LP, especially for my childhood favorite game. When I first found chugga, i binged both his mario & luigi series back to back. So good! Then I discovered he hadn't yet played my favorite game in the series! 32:30 I kid you not, I used to always let Mario get KO'd after finding luigi so that he could get his experience up and level up at the same time as Mario. If not just try to skip all of the tutorial enemies.
i had something similar happen one time i played the game by complete accident where during one of the boss fights mario died and because i was counter attacking (i don’t remember exactly what it was but it might’ve been that) i ended up defeating the boss while mario was still down causing luigi to get all the boss exp putting him a bit ahead of mario

Bowser’s inside story has always been my favorite of the Mario and Luigi games, being able to play as both Mario and Luigi along with Bowser himself was just really appealing to. It’s been forever since I’ve played it, but I’ll gladly relive it for the big number 50

love the attention to detail at 2:20 for showing the physical distance between the screens that would normally be there on an actual DS system. the game actually accounts for this distance when displaying cutsceens and battles.

Glad someone else says the OG is superior. I was never really a fan of the updated models. There is a lot of times sprites are superior to models especially since Bowser looks so goofy in the remake lol
@@zeospark9715 I’ve never personally liked the remake. For me it was the music most of all - the remake soundtrack is very inferior to the original. But the sprites and redone attacks aren’t great either!
The only thing the remake ever did consistently was the giant battles, but that's only because the microphone on the DS was mostly shit/unresponive (especially on emulator in my experience), and it certainly didn't make things any better for those who have asthma.

Such nostalgic memories playing this game in my childhood. I beat it on a road trip through California and an la visit to boot. Went to see my sister who was living out there. Coming back a few days later to finally watch the series and play along with Emile, its great to hear his opinion has changed. I always knew how great this game was with its graphics, gameplay, etc. its also so surreal so finally hear him read out the dialogue and talk about the game period. We both got lucky a hit in the first bowser fight, that's pretty funny. Speaking if which, when i was a kid i was so bad at the timing that i could almost never get the Excellent attacks lol. When i was a kid id ALWAYS hold down the breath fire button because i thought that was the only way to use it. When bowser first inhales the pipes the inhale effect is off centered, its a little bit to the right. I first saw it years ago, now ill cures you all with this knowledge lmao. I've always wondered how bowser manages to get back to the castle so quickly. Just before you save Starlow i always thought it was funny that it was tickling her...but as i got older i wondered what she REALLY meant by that...or what Nintendo meant, a bit weird looking back or its just my adult mind haha. I would flee from a lot of battles as a kid because i thought they took too much time away from actually playing the game...boy was that a bad idea as I'm sure you can guess. I was severely under leveled for most of the game, heck i never even finished it until years later. About the tutorials, when i was a kid i never really paid that much attention to them because i was playing to have fun, not learn, boy was that a mistake lol. OMG I've always hated the fact that Marios exp flag was higher then Luigis, still does >:( When leveling up I also never understood you could choose any of the other states...so id always choose hp by default...once again big mistake. Glad to know I'm not the only one lol. I also learned years later the the level up states get better if you don't choose them for a while, for example, if you choose say hp, def and attack only, the other states will start having ALOT of 5s, 6s and even some 7s or higher...if my memory is correct. So if you play your cards right they can all be REALLY good, you'll just need to get the timing down to get those high numbers. Finally done with the first episode. Ill go ahead and say it again, i understand nobody cares about these stories or me, but its more about remembering my childhood playing this game and listening to my childhood youtuber play my favorite game I've been waiting YEARS for him to play lol. So Ill keep doing this...unless Emile says stop XD For future reference, I was 7 when this game came out and was playing it.

I've wanted to see this LP for fifteen years! I got this game new, and it was the first DS game I ever played. Soon after, I found this channel through the Super Mario Sunshine LP and needless to say, my sister and I were hooked! Despite owning the game for so long, I actually only beat it just a few years back, lol. I got stuck on one of the later bosses and got so frustrated that I quit, only returning later when I found my game card again. It definitely places high on my list of favorite games, in good company with Xenoblade Chronicles and Luigi's Mansion. One of my favorite people playing one of my favorite games :)

Still think its crazy how AlphaDream was one day "hey what if Mario and Luigi were inside Bowser." And it became one of the best RPG games in Nintendos history.
Fantastic choice for the 50th lp. Despite how weird this game is, it's a pure show of how fantastic weird settings can be for both gameplay and story purposes. Ah, joy, the start of Starlow being in these games. Probably my least favorite character ever. There's "Luigi's a joke, haha!" and then there's Starlow doing it. Where she never stops, ever. To the point that I'm shocked Mario doesn't step in like he did with the Door in Partners in Time.

Hearing people talk about performance issues on 3DS games also makes me appreciate just how good Luma3DS is at properly utilising the full capabilities of the N3DS' improved ARM11. Bowser's Inside Story? No issues. Snake Eater? Runs perfectly. Pokémon Gen 6/7? Still a bit of chop, but far less. The only thing that really noticeably tanks things is trying to play Hyrule Warriors Legends in 3D.

Partners in Time and Dreamteam both had much worse tutorials than Bowser's Inside Story did, but strangely enough, the last game Paper Jam was the one that got it right. That game actually observes how well you do in the tutorial battle and only if you mess up the timing, Starlow will ask if you want to hear an explanation. Same thing for new abilities, she's just like "Just try them out in this area, come talk to me if you need an explanation".

Barely any going through normally, then any that were there were almost entirely skippable, on top of the FFWD button that you always have access to, and then I check the menu...and there's a whole dang LIST of SUBMENUS for all the different tutorials they just completely hide from you, complete with a dedicated tutorial area. And people say Nintendo doesn't listen lol. I think this went a little too far, especially with what they wanted DT to be with Year of Luigi and all that.

We wait so long for Bowsers Inside Story, finally get it & Chugga dies in the first episode cause he had a funny idea for the Blorbed voice
Fun remake facts, for those who want to know about the good (and the interesting), rather than focusing on the bad:
- At the start of Bowser Jr's Journey, it's revealed Bowser's minions are also being affected by the Blorbs, meaning Bowser actually had a genuine reason to show up at the meeting.
- The initial tutorial fight against Bowser uses the boss theme, instead of the normal battle theme, and Toadsworth shows up, gives you the Battle Guide, and leaves, without speaking a single tutorial.
- While Mario and Luigi retain the omnidirectional movement of the other 3DS games, Bowser remains locked to the eight-way movement of the earlier games. Likely an artefact of the game not quite being finished. It's very noticeable when you play.
- Since the Battle Guide is a thing now, Starlow doesn't constantly bombard you with tutorials in the Trash Pit, making the opening of the game far less of a slog to play through.
- Green Shell's hit count is reduced, but in turn the final hit does more damage. Additionally, as with every other Special Attack in the remake, it will continue even if it defeats the last enemy, meaning you're not cheated out of badge charge.
Neat
Something worth mentioning about the remake, most if not all the battling tutorials adopted the "Wait till the player fails an input" approach, means this beginning section is less annoying for repeat play-throughs or seasoned players.
Yeah, Paper Jam invented that one and it's the one thing from that game I pray they keep for Brothership.
@@rainpooper7088 Brothership's plug system also seems kinda remniscent of PJ's card system with how they have intermediate effects between normal and special attacks, plus their interchangeability and multiple slots instead of just 1 per bro.

@MissRora unfortunately the next in line would be Kalos, and...from a design standpoint (visual and audio) it's probably up there as one of the better ones, but the story and lore I'd rank as the worst in the main series (not to fault the devs. I heard they were under massive crunch and had to cut quite a bit) and from a gameplay standpoint it is insultingly easy unless you cut off the entire gimmick added to the generation and aegislash (easily the most absurdly good mon in gen 6...debatably including the legendaries)

I first found your channel around 2017-2018, when i was disappointed that a gamecube game emulator got removed off of my high schools computers, i wanted to play Super Mario Sunshine, so i decided to look up a lets play of it and i found yours, your the very first lets player i ever watched, and then i watched more of your channel and enjoyed every lets play i watched, your the entire reason i found TRG and every one involved with it to begin with, I cant thank you enough for introducing me to so many great people who’s content has brought me enjoyment and laughter for years, and i cant think of a more perfect game to be the 50th its one of if not the best Mario and Luigi games, exited to watch the series.

Considering Bowser's history of kingdom-conquering and princess-kidnapping, can you really blame them for not wanting him at that meeting? Especially since he had already barged in uninvited and destroyed part of the Conference room. He wasn't really being nice about it, even if he claims that he was. Also, I'm not sure if Bowser's Domain is technically part of the Mushroom Kingdom. At least some pieces of media like Mario Odyssey and the Mario movie clearly treat Bowser's lair as a separate kingdom. He might just be claiming that he's part of the same kingdom because he thinks he has the right to rule it, even though he isn't.
It won't be the Mario and Luigi fandom without bash on Starlow.

I do them on a different channel to keep my personal account safe (there's been cases where getting copyright struck makes you lose not just your UA-cam channel, but *_your entire Google Account,_* emails, purchases, your phone, everything), but Chugga is one of my primary inspirations for my LP style... especially for the aspect of "showing off _everything_ of a game, so even people who might never have a chance to play it for themselves, can still experience the game _through_ my LP of it".

I still did a separate-channel-on-separate-account as a precaution (in case of a Cookie's Bustle scenario), but as long as you're careful what "external content" you add to your videos, you should be fine! ...Besides, I think it's only if _specific companies_ like Disney strike you, that you lose the Google Account along with the channel...

Starlow's Log Day 1: This is Starlow, a representative from the Star Sprites sent down to the Mushroom Kingdom to investigate the cause of the Blorbs. I met with Princess Peach and her people to discuss the situation and what could be causing all of this. Our meeting was interrupted, however, when Bowser, King of the Koopas, showed up and tried to kidnap Peach. Thankfully, Mario was able to trounce him thanks to Peach and I weakening his strength and Peach threw Bowser outside of the castle. We were hoping to resume our meeting elsewhere, but suddenly, Bowser reappeared and swallowed us all whole! Now the princess, toads, Mario, Luigi, and I are trapped inside Bowser's body. How are we going to escape? I don't know, but I have faith Mario and Luigi will figure something out. Star Sprite Starlow signing out.

i had something similar happen one time i played the game by complete accident where during one of the boss fights mario died and because i was counter attacking (i don’t remember exactly what it was but it might’ve been that) i ended up defeating the boss while mario was still down causing luigi to get all the boss exp putting him a bit ahead of mario
I never thought to try that but I really should considering how much the EXP being off bothers me in Dream Team.

@@zeospark9715 I’ve never personally liked the remake. For me it was the music most of all - the remake soundtrack is very inferior to the original. But the sprites and redone attacks aren’t great either!
The only thing the remake ever did consistently was the giant battles, but that's only because the microphone on the DS was mostly shit/unresponive (especially on emulator in my experience), and it certainly didn't make things any better for those who have asthma.

I actually managed to beat that boss in one try in the original. I had no idea people struggled with it.
@@GBAura It's not really much of an issue if you just know how the mic works. Same goes for the Zeekeeper and the gyro controls in Dream Team.
Oh, the train... that thing is so weird to me because first time I played I don't remember struggling too much with it. BUT on every playthrough after? Bane of my existence. That boss is the only one to make me use Retry Clocks anymore...
"hey everybody its chuggaconroy" will always be such an iconic phrase. i grew up watching your partners in time Lets play along with the superstar saga, triple deluxe and return to dream land LP's. you gave younger me such a happy time during those moments in my life as i had been through quite a bit personally so im so so happy to see you play bowsers inside story, the first mario and luigi game ive ever beaten (because elder princess shroob was so hard for younger me). i hope you have alot of fun playing this game because it really is a joy to play

Such nostalgic memories playing this game in my childhood. I beat it on a road trip through California and an la visit to boot. Went to see my sister who was living out there. My parents and I had a blast and on the downtime id chunk away at this game on my og, chunky silver DS. So many memories came flooding back. Thanks Chuggaa. So glad you’re back :)

Sorry that I’m a bit late here, but I’m so happy that Emile’s finally playing Bowsers Inside Story, this is one of the first games I’ve ever played and still holds a special place in my heart.
Dude, I never really got to play any of the Mario and Luigi series (other than a pirated version of superstar saga) and finally I get to see one of my favorite lets play channels play the game I've been waiting for someone to "give life" to the characters for Bowsers inside story 🎉

This feels so cozy, watching Chuggaa start another lets play! I gasped and got so excited when the hooded figure arrived. Thanks for being your goofy and informative self, Chuggaa. Let the adventure begin!
Coming back a few days later to finally watch the series and play along with Emile, its great to hear his opinion has changed. I always knew how great this game was with its graphics, gameplay, etc. its also so surreal so finally hear him read out the dialogue and talk about the game period.
We both got lucky a hit in the first bowser fight, that's pretty funny. Speaking if which, when i was a kid i was so bad at the timing that i could almost never get the Excellent attacks lol.
When i was a kid id ALWAYS hold down the breath fire button because i thought that was the only way to use it.
When bowser first inhales the pipes the inhale effect is off centered, its a little bit to the right. I first saw it years ago, now ill cures you all with this knowledge lmao.
I've always wondered how bowser manages to get back to the castle so quickly.
Just before you save Starlow i always thought it was funny that it was tickling her...but as i got older i wondered what she REALLY meant by that...or what Nintendo meant, a bit weird looking back or its just my adult mind haha.
I would flee from a lot of battles as a kid because i thought they took too much time away from actually playing the game...boy was that a bad idea as I'm sure you can guess. I was severely under leveled for most of the game, heck i never even finished it until years later.
About the tutorials, when i was a kid i never really paid that much attention to them because i was playing to have fun, not learn, boy was that a mistake lol.
OMG I've always hated the fact that Marios exp flag was higher then Luigis, still does >:(
When leveling up I also never understood you could choose any of the other states...so id always choose hp by default...once again big mistake. Glad to know I'm not the only one lol.
I also learned years later the the level up states get better if you don't choose them for a while, for example, if you choose say hp, def and attack only, the other states will start having ALOT of 5s, 6s and even some 7s or higher...if my memory is correct. So if you play your cards right they can all be REALLY good, you'll just need to get the timing down to get those high numbers.
Finally done with the first episode. Ill go ahead and say it again, i understand nobody cares about these stories or me, but its more about remembering my childhood playing this game and listening to my childhood youtuber play my favorite game I've been waiting YEARS for him to play lol. So Ill keep doing this...unless Emile says stop XD

I've wanted to see this LP for fifteen years! I got this game new, and it was the first DS game I ever played. Soon after, I found this channel through the Super Mario Sunshine LP and needless to say, my sister and I were hooked!
Despite owning the game for so long, I actually only beat it just a few years back, lol. I got stuck on one of the later bosses and got so frustrated that I quit, only returning later when I found my game card again. It definitely places high on my list of favorite games, in good company with Xenoblade Chronicles and Luigi's Mansion.

i’ve never gotten to play this series for myself, my friend who’s a huge fan of bowser has been BEGGING me to watch anything on it. i just didn’t have the energy to sit through hours of gameplay… but seriously seeing this made me overfilled with joy i can watch anything as long as it has your silly voice over it, thank you chugga!!!!
Still think its crazy how AlphaDream was one day "hey what if Mario and Luigi were inside Bowser." And it became one of the best RPG games in Nintendos history.
Fantastic choice for the 50th lp. Despite how weird this game is, it's a pure show of how fantastic weird settings can be for both gameplay and story purposes.
Ah, joy, the start of Starlow being in these games. Probably my least favorite character ever. There's "Luigi's a joke, haha!" and then there's Starlow doing it. Where she never stops, ever. To the point that I'm shocked Mario doesn't step in like he did with the Door in Partners in Time.
