its the battle scene from PMMM (puella magi madoka magica) and its by kalafina. all of the music from both of these are very dark. and if u liked it check out Yuuki Kadra's music
I love how this anime starts all happy... than EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL AND PEOPLE DIE AND PEOPLE GO MAD AND MORE PEOPLE DIE. This is an anime I horribly misjudged originally.
I knew it wouldn't go happily forever since it's co-written by Urobuchi. After watching Fate/Zero, I was prepared to see something horrible would certainly happen in this show, too.
The true beauty of the anime was that a normal young girl with courage, knowledge and wisdom changed the world through her choices. A simple single member of humanity. Reminds us that the greatest strength comes not from muscles, guns or tanks but simply from within
Yeah, it did have a fairly happy ending, even though Sayaka dies and Homura has to live on as the only person to remember Madoka and what she sacrificed even after working so hard to save her. I'm not really surprised they were angry about their bodies, I can kind of understand why they would be upset.
No, Sayaka's epilogue moment wasn't her dying again, it was her as a spirit sitting with Madoka watching her idol/lover's performance (an extension of her wish) for the last time. Really sad moment. Either way, 3rd movie is here, the subbed version is gonna take forever.... *cries*.
The fanart only strengthens the deceit. If you look up art about the show, nine times out of then you'll find the five girls smiling, Madoka in her Mahou Shoujo outfit, doing cute or pretty girls like most magical girls, and Kyubei being adorable, even having expressions. You can't even see it coming from looking up pictures. I enjoy this fact a lot.
samasima but she made a world where the other magical girls are happy it's is one of the most morally ambiguous ending in fiction i've ever seen WHERE'S THE FOURTH
I have no idea why every single version of this song ALWAYS mutes the strings to some extent. The strings are the best part of this song, and on a melodic cover especially it's kind of weird to cover them up at all...
CHECKERpatchhIppO If you can manage Reflex/Speed/Brain-control-Typing. i can advice you by all bitter Kindness - play Dark Souls 2 - and the currently coming Lords of the Fallen. Oh and be brave enough and play Dark Souls 2 at least with achieving New Game plus Seven ; ) Then, you WILL have your Feeling of Bosses that you can't beat. New Game +9 to +10 are actually the craziest Mindfucks in Gaming History of the last +7 Years x-D
taer kitty I don't think that there was ever such thing as a final boss that gets an epic introduction and a showcase of overpowering strength- only for it to be delegated to the sidelines as all of the focus suddenly shifts to the main character, who then proceeds completely ignore it and instead launch an attack that destroys the very fabric of reality itself, merely getting rid of the so called "final boss" as collateral damage.
I was listening to a Steven Universe playlist and it for some reason included this song. No idea what it's about or what's going on but it's pretty good. Nice.
+The Inexorable Prince Both shows are about people with their souls being contained inside a gem and their body being just a vessel used so they can fight enemies that used to be just like them. So there's that.
+El Principe I was listening to the same playlist. Then this song came on and I was like "huh, this sounds an awful lot like the Madoka soundtrack..." Then the singing started :P (everyone else in this thread is right, Madoka is really, really good. It's on Netflix. It's a bit dark, so if you're not down for that, then don't watch it, but it's fabulous)
the saddest anime/manga ever is also the most beautiful. A desperate time traveler tries to save her best friend,a common girl becqame a powerful goddess,a truster of justice became a villain, the newfounder of hope died soon and a ruthless girl died for saving her friend are the most emoctional thing i ever saw. I love this anime.
I'll say only one thing and one thing only. "A hero is greedy and tries to achieve ALL his or her goals. A mundane person tries for what he or she thinks he or she can. A monstrous person only thinks about ONE goal. So what is your choice?"
It's sort of a thing you have to look at realistically. Plenty of characters die in anime, it's the matter of how the character death is executed. PMMM had explored each character's conflict & lead up to their eventual demise and have it NOT felt rushed, giving the audience some room to understand the characters & have a sense to where the characters are coming from. Its okay not to feel sad for an anime that's supposed to be depressing in any way, everyones entitled to have different opinions.
Everytime i think about this show all i can do is feel bad...and it's sad, it hurts but i LIKE so much this anime that i can't stop listen to "magia". I don't know, really, even though i almost cried in every episode i can't stop liking this, it's a very good anime, lots of feels.
Amazing ! This ost is so great! And this broken voice show us the madoka and friends's disastrous fight ! Thank you for sharing this... ten years later haha ❤️ Edit: the last part white the violin 🎻... wahouuu !
Is the same awesome formula applied to Higurashi series and Clannad, Kanon, Air (showing their lifes really cute and happy until some dark stuff happens, but it's late for you, as you've already liked the cute characters you've seen). That awesome formula
Gen Urobochi, is a writer for bloody massacre stuff, and he wrote this. He made it so people can "shed manly tears" and most of the people who voice acted started crying during scenes.
Kyubey pointed out that no one would remember who she was, with exception of her little brother and Homura, so no. No one would know that there was a magical girl named Madoka to bring back. She left nothing behind except the law that destroyed all witches before they were born.
I did not cry once while watching PMMM. The closest it got was when Homura had a moment because Madoka still didn't know she's been trying to change her fate for the last month.
What I suggest, is that instead of the Child and the Dollhouse, is that she literally destroyed the entire universe and then recreated everything including her friends and the entire expanse of space but without witches and replaced them with something else which could still power the universe (Kyubey's reason for coming) So instead of a child with a dollhouse, it would be writer with a blank sheet of paper rewriting the script of fate.
Indeed, the moral lesson is that there's always a comparable. But while it isn't perfect, it moved much closer and saved girls all over the world from being sacrifices to Kyubey(I mean their negative emotions). Goddess Madoka must be worshipped, all hail Lady Madoka :)
She doesn't visit. In the first universe restructure when she is still a mahou shoujo, the MS could see her just before they died. Now its obvious no one sees her as Kyubei mentioned, even the incubators don't know how and what happens. In the 2nd restructure, she no longer exists and has the same effect as gravity. You don't see gravity but it takes effect. During this restructure, Madoka could influence the restructure as Sayaka's talk implied but even so she cannot override certain things
Madoka became a principle of the universe; her wish literally rewrote it. I wouldn't say that's worse than death. She saved millions of girls by doing that. And, just because it was no one's fault (Mami's death, I mean) doesn't mean it wasn't sad.
But you also have to take into account the multi-dimensional labyrinth she has to keep watch of and in balance. As she became an etheral being she is witnessing each dimension that she had previously experienced, and other dimensions that she had not experienced. Trillions of dimensions where any of the characters died except for homura. It was essentially a sentence to a maddening cycle of dark and light, and madoka understood that. The 3rd movie might detail her inability to handle it anymore.
The way they express it in the anime is like madoka became something immortal (Principle of universe as u say or god as kyubei says) her wish did nothing except removal of witches and her survival.. by worse than death is what I meant by wat mami told her..
I had seen Haruhi which i thought was good and not really bothered with other magic girl Animes, then i watched this and it is brilliantly written, artful and despairingly dark. This is now in my top ten Anime amongst Evangelion, Lain, Cowboy Bebop etc.,
I have to agree with the bloody serpent that she put Madoka (sort of) in an endless torture. It wasn't really a torture though. It was more like a labor of love that didn't go as Homura planned it. After all,she meant good when she re-did all those timelines for Madoka, she never meant any harm. Also,it was Mami's own fault that she wouldn't listen to Homu-Homu.
Tell me, how many episodes of Higurashi did you watch. I have come to realize that few people even know that there were two actual seasons. The second season was made about 4 years after the first, and EVERYTHING is explained. Also, you will see that no one was psychopathic without reason, and that reason seals the deal. The second season was incredibly well-done, and I urge you to finish it! You will not regret it.
Also, remember the universe which Madoka wishes to save all magical girls was the last possible universe for Homura to be in since Homura lost her hope and nearly became a witch.
You know, I've always loved the original Magia, but I thought that it lost all of the vulnerability that a 13 year old would have [not surprising, considering...]. Thank you for making this. It's a pretty damn perfect counterpart. At least as good as the original. You should be very proud.
Actually, Sayaka had a choice whether to not be a witch or just remain where she was. She chose to accept her fate leaving everyone she knew and her friends, who by Madoka's Magic came back to life.
no because her wish for there to not be witches meant that she defeated her own witch which caused her to become a 'goddess' of sorts as she technically killed herself to fulfil her wish as well as being part of a paradox.
Well your right on the account that her meddling made things worse, but she didn't know the consequences when she made her wish, none of them did. Kyubey kept them in the dark so he could get the energy he needed. Homura's my favorite but you're essentially correct.
She said she could bring Sayaka back, but that would mean erasing her wish. Madoka said she respects the sacrifices of Magical Girls too much to undo their histories.
Welcome to differing opinions! We merely have different opinions and that's all good and well. Glad to have met you, have a nice day and may Madokami bless you.
(cont) Birth, life, and death no longer held meaning for Madoka. Instead her existance is literally binded to her wish that would forever effect the world, thus making her a paradox.
One last argument, if Madoka was shunted out of the universe, how was she still able to visit and restore/shatter the soulgems of previous Puella Magi, if she could not interact with the people within the "Dollhouse" as you said, so she would still maintain some connection to within the universe regardless of her situation as she is the only one solely responsible for the "weird" soulgem reaction. But due to restraints, she would have to affect things indirectly, such as little things that add up such as tripping, or meeting someone else or that bump of a person who becomes your soulmate.
Yeah she saved millions of girls, and i cried because even though she took their lives they died with a smile knowing that the suffering is finally over and they won't be witches. But wait.... Kyubey said that all magical girls become witches...that means madoka will still one day become a witch! -_-
This song sounds like something for a final battle with your best friend or a loved one, pretty gripping and full of feels.
its the battle scene from PMMM (puella magi madoka magica) and its by kalafina. all of the music from both of these are very dark. and if u liked it check out Yuuki Kadra's music
Jill Mimms
Who the hell is Yuuki Kadra?
more like if you found out that your best friend is.... spoiler
is the devil.
Armisael Nebuchadnezzar II I think he meant Yuki Kajura, the composer for this music and many other soundtracks.
thats pretty much what it is, more or less
I love how this anime starts all happy... than EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL AND PEOPLE DIE AND PEOPLE GO MAD AND MORE PEOPLE DIE. This is an anime I horribly misjudged originally.
Jack Taylor Everyone did. The producers intentionally advertised it that way.
I knew it wouldn't go happily forever since it's co-written by Urobuchi.
After watching Fate/Zero, I was prepared to see something horrible would certainly happen in this show, too.
Jack Taylor XD it's still great tho
Yeah. I first kept being told to watch this and went "Okay this is just a whatever magical girl anime" Boy was I wrong.

This anime in a nutshell

I could imagine a hundred epic fights or scenes under this song.
Like Kriemhild Gretchen fighting the Imperial Navy?
No, Sayaka's epilogue moment wasn't her dying again, it was her as a spirit sitting with Madoka watching her idol/lover's performance (an extension of her wish) for the last time. Really sad moment.

third movie was awesome. it even had a disturbed happy ending
happy ending!? homura became a demon!
samasima but she made a world where the other magical girls are happy
it's is one of the most morally ambiguous ending in fiction i've ever seen
WHERE'S THE FOURTH
Sam Mutch There's a rumor that another season is planned. Set post Rebellion. Dunno if it's real or not.
Damien Cuvrette link to your info?
I think i saw it on Madoka Magica's TVTropes page.
madoka is fantastic
I have no idea why every single version of this song ALWAYS mutes the strings to some extent. The strings are the best part of this song, and on a melodic cover especially it's kind of weird to cover them up at all...
sounds like Im fighting some huge boss, like I cant win, but I guess I will try anyways:D
Perfectly describes Walpurgis Night for Homura. Can't tell if intentional or massive coincidence.
oh god, that bossXD I liked Nyx:) and the two headed dog of awesomeness!!!:D
I think the double headed dog of darkness was hopelessness, I mean two heads
CHECKERpatchhIppO If you can manage Reflex/Speed/Brain-control-Typing.

sounds like an epic boss battle theme!
Well, the witch they fought on Walpugis Night is arguably the Final Boss in the series.

There's movies?

The Inexorable Prince Jude? what are you doing here?
+The Inexorable Prince Both shows are about people with their souls being contained inside a gem and their body being just a vessel used so they can fight enemies that used to be just like them. So there's that.
+El Principe Puella Magi Madoka Magica is seriously the best fucking show I've ever seen. You need to watch it.

I....I... I don't want to die......Homura!!!*sniff*
My exact reaction XD
It sucks that it's so hard to get people to watch this show without spoiling that first, though.
I'll say only one thing and one thing only. "A hero is greedy and tries to achieve ALL his or her goals. A mundane person tries for what he or she thinks he or she can. A monstrous person only thinks about ONE goal. So what is your choice?"
Yes because she became hope and changed the past, present and future.
Madoka never truly died. Her story is still in Homura's heart, never to be forgotten. We're all stories in the end, but stories never die.
i just love these epic melodic sounds from the japanese componists, they are epic
I love the emphasized lyrics in this song. It sounds so peaceful and yet beautifully sorrowful.
Damn it, I love anime!
The epicness of this song :3
It can be quite heartwrenching. I can't wait for the 3rd movie. I hope it shows more of all the magical girls that died in the show.
I didn't believe it was possible, but this ver is even better than the original...
this song has so many different versions and all of them area wonderful
I found great comfort in the fact madoka's wish said that all wished would be revoked so maybe her's will eventually
Best version of this.
Bought the shit out of this on Itunes.
IT'S ON ITUNES!?
Woah...
it was turned the original song into a very beautiful and calming song! i love it!
Um... This particular remix does a better job at invoking the feelings of determination and desperation, though.
Holy fuck, those opening bars.
It's sort of a thing you have to look at realistically. Plenty of characters die in anime, it's the matter of how the character death is executed. I'm not sure if I like this version more than the original, and that's the best compliment I give.
BEAUTIFUL.

This needs more attention.
She is a metaphor for something that actually exists. "Anima mundi" was the old word for it.
Gen Urobochi, is a writer for bloody massacre stuff, and he wrote this. He made it so people can "shed manly tears" and most of the people who voice acted started crying during scenes.
A magical girl could always wish Madoka back into existence
Kyubey pointed out that no one would remember who she was, with exception of her little brother and Homura, so no. No one would know that there was a magical girl named Madoka to bring back. She left nothing behind except the law that destroyed all witches before they were born.
One of my favorite things ever omg. I can listen to this forever :3
And it's getting better and better by the Chapter. ; )
I did not cry once while watching PMMM. The closest it got was when Homura had a moment because Madoka still didn't know she's been trying to change her fate for the last month.
One of the best out there. It's not your typical "magical girl" anime. :)
I like how this anime seems very girly at first glance but it turns out to be very serious and action packed that's why i love it so much
And only because of that Madoka was so powerful and had the ability to become a god.
Love this music
so weird how that analogy fits perfectly O.o

The instumental version is on "Anime Song Orchestra II" published by Melodic Taste
They're making 3 movies I believe, two to re-cap the series and the last one will continue on from the ending of the original series
I wasn't prepared for the feels.
When you put it that way, it does in fact make a little more sense. The lore with Faust is a bit more apparent within Madoka.
THE AMAZINGNESS IS To AMAZE FOR ME
Absolutely
THIS WAS A REALLY SAD STORY I WAS SAD AT THE END AND BEGINNING AND MIDDLE. IT WAS THE SADEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN.
Madoka became a principle of the universe; her wish literally rewrote it. I wouldn't say that's worse than death. She saved millions of girls by doing that. And, just because it was no one's fault (Mami's death, I mean) doesn't mean it wasn't sad.

Trillions of dimensions where any of the characters died except for homura. It was essentially a sentence to a maddening cycle of dark and light, and madoka understood that. The 3rd movie might detail her inability to handle it anymore.
DAMNIT WHY DOES IT SOUNDS SO GREAT?
i thought this song can't get more epic but WOW!! :D
The way they express it in the anime is like madoka became something immortal (Principle of universe as u say or god as kyubei says) her wish did nothing except removal of witches and her survival.. by worse than death is what I meant by wat mami told her..
I love this arrangement! I just wish the alto part could be heard more easily.
2022 still bumpin this epic track
This is just Beautiful
I love this song
I love this song so much.
I had seen Haruhi which i thought was good and not really bothered with other magic girl Animes, then i watched this and it is brilliantly written, artful and despairingly dark.
This is now in my top ten Anime amongst Evangelion, Lain, Cowboy Bebop etc.,
i love this final boss music
I have to agree with the bloody serpent that she put Madoka (sort of) in an endless torture. It wasn't really a torture though. It was more like
a labor of love that didn't go as Homura planned it. After all,she meant
good when she re-did all those timelines for Madoka, she never meant any harm. Also,it was Mami's own fault that she wouldn't listen to Homu-Homu.

The second season was incredibly well-done, and I urge you to finish it! You will not regret it.
such an awesome song.
I find PMMM sad, but not heartbreaking. It is a beautifully sculptured anime, but it is too short. I must admit though, I cried at the ending.
This show was insane, started off as a dope sailormoon and ended as the most brutal anime ever
Is it just me or did this show feel like some kind of fever dream?
Actually, Sayaka had a choice whether to not be a witch or just remain where she was. She chose to accept her fate leaving everyone she knew and her friends, who by Madoka's Magic came back to life.
no because her wish for there to not be witches meant that she defeated her own witch which caused her to become a 'goddess' of sorts as she technically killed herself to fulfil her wish as well as being part of a paradox.
Where there's hope, there's Madoka. She exists.
sigo sin saber mi destino aun
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Well your right on the account that her meddling made things worse, but she didn't know the consequences when she made her wish, none of them did. Kyubey kept them in the dark so he could get the energy he needed. Homura's my favorite but you're essentially correct.
She said she could bring Sayaka back, but that would mean erasing her wish. Madoka said she respects the sacrifices of Magical Girls too much to undo their histories.
Welcome to differing opinions! We merely have different opinions and that's all good and well. Glad to have met you, have a nice day and may Madokami bless you.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!¡¡!!!!!!
(cont)
Birth, life, and death no longer held meaning for Madoka. Instead her existance is literally binded to her wish that would forever effect the world, thus making her a paradox.
/listens
Okay, this is pretty cool.
/listens BUT WITH HEADPHONES.
WHAT IS THIS EARGASM I'M HAVING.
Aun sigo viviendo en espera de un final Efimero
One last argument, if Madoka was shunted out of the universe, how was she still able to visit and restore/shatter the soulgems of previous Puella Magi, if she could not interact with the people within the "Dollhouse" as you said, so she would still maintain some connection to within the universe regardless of her situation as she is the only one solely responsible for the "weird" soulgem reaction. This is truly a paradoxal question isn't it? But that why we still ask and try to solve.
I think he means that the ending was happy, and both anime actually have happy endings.
Tragically, yes Sayaka died, but if taken into account this theory, then Madoka in full right could restore Sayaka and change whatever she wished.
yes...
God, I fucking love this arrangement. It sounds so badass.
