I didn't grow up listening to rock or metal. When I expanded my musical horizons a bit around 2000-ish I quickly found Zack to be one of the best lyricists alive. It's a shame more rap fans don't know about him. I showed my brother the ODAL EP last week and he wasn't impressed. Then I showed him RTJ KYM and he took it back lol quick.
You're the first to notice and comment on it! Just one of many wild on-stage occurrences that happened during this tour. While I could've mentioned the tumble in the title and gained more clicks (blah), I wanted to keep focus on this amazing performance... fall and all! Thanks for watching!
@@AD-ey9kq don't worry, I'm sure one of the social medias will do it for you lol great performance. Honestly i do love that it wasn't in the title or cut short before it happened, was just part of the performance. Who doesn't eat shit now & then lol
Goddamn man, Zack toring his Achilles after just 1 month or so of touring is one of the saddest shit ever. They were going to tour around the world probably with Run the Jewels, and there were rumours about some shows down here in South America. Fuck man, after their show here in Brasil in 2010, I never thought I was going to see them again live, and I was just teased a little bit, and them Zack's injury happened. Shiiiiiit, this show would be fuckin fire, I envy y'all that were on these 2022 shows
Yea, Zack was only healthy for one full show. Pretty awesome of him to continue the tour as long as he physically could. Hope he fully heals! And I hope they make it to Brasil so you can see them again!
I love at the end, after knowing Mike was okay of course, when Tom goes and talks with Zach. No idea what it could've been about, but it just seems like a nice moment.
Very cool of you to notice. At the three shows I was lucky to attend, Tom sat by Zack's side during every break between songs. Aside from their tour opener in Wisconsin, I believe the same happened during all the shows. Like you, I love to see it! Awesome moments.
This show happened on August 2, 2022. ZDLR was injured during the second show of the tour but proceeded to do many shows. The Madison Square Garden shows were the last of them. In mid-August, it was reported that his injury was a torn Achilles tendon.
I hear you... but sometimes less is more. Knowing when to play is just as important as what you're playing. In this song, his minimalist approach and staying in the background allows the song to breathe and let the vocals lead.
Zack de la Rocha: "It’s been almost three months since Chicago, and I still look down at my leg in disbelief. Two years of waiting through the pandemic, hoping we would have an opening to be a band again and continue the work we started 30-some-odd years ago. Rehearsing, training, reconciling, working our way back to form. Then one and a half shows into it and my tendon tears. Felt like a sick joke the universe played on me. As I write this I remind myself it’s just bad circumstance. Just a fucked up moment. Unfortunately, it is a moment that requires a lot of work and healing. I have a severe tear in my left Achilles tendon and only 8% of my tendon was left intact. And even that portion was severely compromised. It’s not simply a question of being able to perform again but extends to basic functionality going forward. That’s why I’ve made the painful and difficult decision to cancel the remaining shows on our 2023 North American leg. I hate canceling shows. I hate disappointing our fans. You have all waited so patiently to see us and that is never lost on me. I never take that for granted. For you, I have the ultimate gratitude and respect. To my brothers Tim, Brad, and Tom; EL p, Killer Mike, Trackstar, and the whole RTJ crew; to everyone on our production team: techs, cooks drivers, assistants, security squad, to anyone and everyone who made the shows thus far possible, all my love and respect. I hope to see you very soon."
@@AD-ey9kq Word. I get that. I originally thought it was because you were giving them the spotlight. Appropriately, in my opinion. I'm not saying you needed it, but they certainly breathed new life into your lungs. I am grateful for that. However wrong, or right I may be. Wooo. Mike took a good fall at the end.
@@AD-ey9kq I had my ticket for Paris 2020, then I had the ticket for 2022 🥺 I wish you a good healing Zack, thank you for everything you did. Hopefully one day I can see you on stage for real!
Why does Rage feel like a clone reboot with a pro political agenda? It doesn't hit like it used to. Maybe because the activism in us has changed from global initiation to a more self initiation. Everyone seems self driven today vs a mob of mfkrs running amuck.
the way Zack takes a smooth sip of his mug right before his verse....what a master of his craft.
I would LOVE a joint album with them. Collision Course type
Run Against the Jewels? Rage Against the Jewels? Rage The Jewels? so many options
That's exactly what I was thinking!
this is what i want at my funeral. full stop.
I want testify played so loud at my funeral that the people pulling into the parking lot at the funeral parlor can hear it. ☺️
