imo video represents the police and the public wasting time and energy....because at the end of the day, we all live in the same house....we just need to wake up and work together to make our house a home. ✊🏾
Exactly. The endless antagonistic relationship between the police and the black community(and minority communities in general) is traumatizing everybody. The drawn-out, inconclusive fight is a metaphor not only for police violence and systemic injustice, but also the inevitable backlashes to that violence, from the sixties to the nineties to today. And the implication is that come next morning, they are going to do it all over again.
OMG, YES! Run the Jewels is Killer Mike and EL-P, but Zack is known as the honorary 3rd member, he is featured on 3 of their songs. This one, Ju$t, and Report to the Shareholders/Kill your Masters ( it's a 2 part song, Zack is only on the second part. Aside from that you NEEEEEED to check out more Run the Jewels, check out their first song on their first album, its Run the Jewels By Run the Jewels on the album Run the Jewels, so it's easy to remember.
I love your take on this video. I've been following RTJ since forever. I think this is one of their most important and influential videos. While the lyrics portray the sad reality of being in the prison system, the video shows how both prisoner and law enforcement are tired from the struggle. There can be no justice in the system that keeps felons both behind bars, and on the payroll.
They're both exhausted, but they can't stop, because the system has them locked in. Whichever side of it you're on, you have to feel that. By the end of it all, they have way more in common than against... just fucking tired of fighting each other forever. Tired of all of this shit. Hello, black and white America: this is us.
@@thisiscolexus ugh Jesus why does someone always gotta split hairs with technicalities. Do you think he’s gonna just stop rapping now? I know he’s been around. But he’s never sounded better. He’s literally entering his prime.

You say that the visual image destroy the track.) I don't think so. Because this is an allusion to the" struggle " between whites (or the government) and blacks, which is not really a struggle, but a fuss. And the fact that they don't even want to fight, everyone is already tired, but the established prejudices still force to continue this shit. So it looks ridiculous. That's the reality, bro, and you know it.) Shout out from Russia.)
The video is a representation of how Police treat Black folks in America. All you see is Lakeith trying to survive and the cop is in it to win it. It basically depicts the everyday struggle of black people and interactions with the police....
youre not wrong, aint no one fighting a cop for 5 minutes, its just a metaphor for the struggles between poc and police over time shrunk into one scene
Have you ever been in a fight? No disrespect. After 30 seconds, you're pretty winded. 30 seconds feels like 30 hours. Never removing lethal options is a OG move.
Yeah I’ve been in many fights growing up and recreational during my time in the service. I posted this video a while ago. If I remember correctly I said a cop wouldn’t sit around fight someone for that long, but for the sake of the video the fighting makes sense.
i think the idea is that they were fighting and wrestling before it started so all the slow motion looking grabbing and half tai clinch shit they're doing is simply because they're exhausted

I think the black man and the cop are a couple
Not in the same house. The cops serve the state and the people they antagonize don't. It's that simple.
You nailed it.
I think your description at the end was exactly the point they were trying to make. Tiring and endless, but they keep coming back to it.
“My battle status is burnin’ matches from Dallas to Malibu…check my resume, your residence is residue.”🔥🔥🔥

RTJ has some great stuff for the times. Killer Mike is fire, El-P on production is fire and we all know Zack is well Zack is fire.

Exactly, like a dance they do daily cuz that's what's expected
Lakeith Stanfield and the white cop is Shea Wigham, another hella good actor
El-P already locked up my 2nd fav white emcee ever and he hasn’t even really started yet.
Christ I love him.
Im sorry man, but saying El_P hasnt even really started yet, he's been on the scene since at least 1992. At this point, he lifting other rappers up.

Love this reaction
Run the jewels brought me here 😍
Just one comment: Zach still bars
Most fights end uo in the ground, the ut becomes grappling. Fighting winds the shit outta you. Dead exhausted. Cop fought like a man.

It wasn’t really destroying but more like distracting me from paying attention to the lyrics.

Do just by run the jewels. An absolute banger. They keep getting better and better with each album.
I’m dropping that reaction tomorrow
@@JayPXP oh hell yes!!
I find the "what the hell, why is this weird struggle continuing on and on" quite poignant.
@Ian Apitsch for real after awhile it became distracting.
Try Legend Has It by RTJ
Reminds me of Public Enemy....love it...
Just do the entire RTJ 2 & 4 lps, bruh? And, prepare yourself for the ride…💯❤️😁☘️
