Half-Sleeper Build - 2011 Parts On A 2000s Case
Вставка

- Here we turn this early 2000s PC case into something more modern. That includes dealing with the pesky lack of cable management as well as the cumbersome nature of using such case.
Parts -
Asus P8Z68-V LE
Intel Core i5-2500k
Patriot Viper DDR3 1600MHz (2x4GB)
EVGA GTX 560 Ti 1GB
Arctic Freezer Pro 7 Rev. 2
EVGA White 600W Power Supply
Some Marple case from around 2000
I'll post an update when I've got a case fan fitted and those CD drives working - blasting some Vanessa Carlton will be worth the wait.
And thanks for the 100 subs. The Budding Engineer has been a fun journey so far, and there's much more to come.

This video and build are a masterpiece! Linus could learn a thing or two lol. Seriously awesome work. I can see care in every screw turn and cut. The algorithm did its job today. I hope to see your channel grow
My PC is a Half-Sleeper too. I named it the Decade because the parts range from pre-2010 to 2020.
such a cool concept!
This is super clean great job 👌
Nice production value man! I enjoy this video so much.
Very impressed! I love the result.
this is really well done, actually making improvements to the case whilst still preserving it (i.e. not ripping out the front like most other people do)
bro u have talent and the machinery to do so much more!
and i think u shoul
Good job!!!!
Very clean content, 👌.
Great work!
yeah, dealing with the octopus (what me and my boss called the psu) can be very *fun* in these older cases, moreso with smaller cases
clean work
I love this!
Amazing work. My sleeper is also a Sandy Bridge cpu. i5-2310 paired with an rx 570. If you need to improve airflow on the back panel you can check for PCI fans.
Super boulot 👍👍👍
Reminds me of my first "new" PC build back in 2015.
Used an old Gateway ATX tower w/ a cheap mATX Gigabyte MoBo, i5 2400, R7 380 2GB, 8GB 1333 DDR3, 128GB Transcend SSD, and a 1TB WD Blue.
Had to Dremel off I/O Shield & HDD cage.
Maybe put some trim along the top part of the outer panel, to seal it up. That way you don't see any daylight coming through where you cut.
I had this cooler on phenom 2 550 black edition, it was preatty good
Very good
beautiful
Awesome build. Subscribed.
Id like to see a better gpu, and maybe a led strip! Thx
I still remember that the 2500k was the hot shizz back when I built my first PC, it was too expensive for young me and I went with an FX chip instead.
I genuinely find FX-series chips interesting, hope you've had a decent experience with it
@@TheBuddingEngineer they were interesting indeed, reaching insanely high clocks for that era (although the architecture / core count was sketchy) they were fun to OC.
give this man some views
這是一個很棒的改造過程。
how do you connect the mother board to the power bouton ? By the way very good vidéo, super clean
Really nice build man. I'd remove the drive bay and the cd drives. Just glue them the front on and bobs your uncle.
10:49 Maybe you could drill a few holes along this edge to the cover and frame, use flat head screws at the cover and nuts at the bottom of the hole at the frame to keep the cover as close as possible to the frame.
That's actually a good idea, thank you!
You could also have made some fan grills holes on top or bottom of the case.
you are the best gg
you have new subscriber :)))
This was so cool. How fun to see another geek+woodworker. I have the same motherboard. And I am considering doing something fun with it. Do you know the highest end cpu this can take?
Cheers.
Thank you!
The highest-spec CPU you could get is the i7-3770K, but the 2600K is just as good imo, but much cheaper
Muito bom amigo Sucesso 👌🤝🎮🙌✌😮😀👍☕
well i'm a year late watching this. but i like it stay well
Drop the disc drives and get an ssd! But it looks awesome!
where did you get the seal ?
personally I wouldve kept the top shield intact because now the top has a gap and also you should add real sata dvd drives
True, at least that gap wouldn't be so visible if that was the case
And I too wanted to SATA DVD drives, but unfortunately I've moved on from this build
I appreciate your suggestions, though
Nice job :) , but lost points for no floppy & cd from access ;)
If you're already changing aesthetics with the side window, why not put a 80mm fan in the 5.25" bay?
where did purchase the rubber edging?
Bought it online, it's called rubber edge trim
very good video but..... you could in the next videos change the grand mothers music to Cyberpunk music?? jajaj , is real that per little I get will sleep jjaja
Upgrade time ?
You know you didn't need the drive bays, you could have used the drive bays covers and glued them to your PC, and you would have much more space inside the case.
Good Job, i like this build. Try to put GTX 660 ti or a ATI HD 7950/7970, its cheap and will give you build much more power.
Thank you. These were released not too long after 2011 either. Here in the UK they're all pricey at the moment so I'll patiently wait
@@TheBuddingEngineer i just got an Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (2048 MB) (ZT-70601-10M) for £30 which i dont think is bad price.
@paul wheelhouse That's not bad at all. These things sell between £40-60 on eBay including auctions. I already got a 750 ti a long while ago, paid double your price. It's in my main rig.
Not too long back I had a gtx 680. Wasn't a bad card either. However then I upgraded to a rx 480 then later sold that pc and buillt a system with a rtx 2060 and a r7 2700
Hot damn, a 2700... 2060 too...
Just buy sata dvd drive and change it's front cover to these from cd's
How is it a half sleeper and what is a half sleeper
oh i bet that can run skyrim when it comes out!
it better do, my man
SSD!
Unnecessarily cutting the shell in half ruined it for me...
Everything else, top notch
Yes, the cut edge does look unsightly, but it was cumbersome removing and installing the whole shell. I appreciate your thoughts
Air flow is a mirage,..,..
If i can get the case i want to stuff $3000 worth of parts in it.
I'd rather a computer have hot glue than an Intel processor.
Round off the edges so you don't get shanked.......... but those fingernails even worse
