You rig turned out great, nice work 🤟. Love the color and it’s just so clean. The winch is a great safety tool to have. The details you shared though, make me really appreciate my stock Rivian R1S. The air suspension can give me 15” of ground clearance and self levels regardless of weight load or when car camping. The air compressor for the suspension is shared so I can blow up my MTB tires and air mattress or fix a flat. In the space where the gas tank normally goes is where I keep all my recovery gear, camp kitchen, tool bag, collapsible cooler and water bag. The fronk fits all my clothes, camp chairs or in the winter I can fit MaxTraxx.
On board air is probably the least item I would use while out in the woods camping, although it's nice to have. The rivian is a cool vehicle but I just can't get over the range anxiety lol, I get it with my surrons too which I love but it just takes away some of the fun. I can always bring extra fuel with me camping but I can't get a charge out in the wilderness. I feel like the way is the hybrid system like the new land cruiser, close to the best of both worlds, I'm trying to make that my wife's next vehicle but she loves her lexus.
jeeeeez the amount of preload is a lot. one small cheat code you can do is add a small 1/4, 3/8, strut spacer up top and lessen the preload to achieve the same ride height and help the ride quality and avoid cracks or failures in the housing.
The preload is actually right within spec, although at the max. The ride is fantastic, to be honest. Most shops do not like to stack a spacer or even corporate won't allow them to. The best option would be to get the heavy-duty springs, but it rides so nice right now.
My 2020 silver 4runner is set up kinda similarly. I got my Bilstein 5100s at the top perch, and stock springs in front and 1.5 in lift springs in the rear made it level until I added the c4 bumper (over 80 lbs) and winch. With close to 150 extra pounds up front, I'm back to factory rake, if not lower. I liked the victory aluminum bumper, but at the time it they didn't have a bull bar that cleared the cruise control radar, and I didn't like the enormous logo covering the 20in. light bar. Your bumper looks really good. I'm not a fan of aluminum skid plates, but I think your bumper makes good sense for the weight savings.
Thank you! I agree about the skids as well. I about hated the logo when I saw it online, but then when it arrived and it the powder coat was just a little lighter shade I actually think it looks good with it on now.
@@r6realtor The earlier version of the Victory bumper that covered the entire middle of the light slot was what I didn't like. Yours looks better. The c4 fits a 30in light bar so their smaller logo covering the slot wasn't as obtrusive. I do like the construction of the c4. The welds are nice... just too heavy and you have to get it powder coated yourself. I am planning on going to 6112 Bilstein with 700 lbs front springs. How do you like the mud terrain tires?
So a serious question for you guys. I'm an old man 70+ and we do not off road at all. But we live in farming/small town USA near the famous Shiner Bock brewery. So, in the spirit of community, helping my neighbors; am considering a front bumper w/winch, OR rear hitch with a "D" ring. In 10+ years have encountered people lose control and needing help getting pulled out, but we had to pass them on. I do have a 2018 F250 FX4, I use for hauling equipment during shredding season. So here I present two options for a winch. Either the 4rnr or the F250. Yes, I know it depends on circumstances and the odds of encountering situations where a winch is needed. I have even gone back and get my tractor to pull people out of a ditch. As you can see, the winch question is being asked by one not a over lander, off-road guy nor a apocalypse prepper. So opinions will be wild and varied, I'm ready for that and appreciate the insights from a variety of people. Thanks again folks!!!
A winch can pull you out if you get stuck out by yourself, and a bumper with schakels can only work if another vehicle is present. So the winch is a better option, in my opinion. I prefer synthetic rope to steel cable. If the rope fails, it falls a cable explodes. Also, if you get a winch with a synthetic rope the first day you have it, pull the rope all the way out and wrap it around a good anchor. Then, pull your vehicle in neutral to real it back in. This step alone will double your ropes life and strength. Good wheeling, my friend. Go do some 4runner stuff lol
Very nice, really like the winch bumper. Did you drop the front diff at all? Those angles look about as maxed out as you can get them, not an issue on the road, but at full wheel droop off-road with high torque, it could be a problem for durability.
Got the same rig same color also with Victory aluminum bumper. After the install i have noticeable front rake running OME BP-51. Trying to adjust the pre-load in the future. Definitely annoying. Anyway what tires and wheels are you running?
Love the look! How did the lift and heavier tires affect your gas mileage? I ask b/c I am buying a Silver '24 TRD Premium next week and am itching to make it look similar to yours. Thanks!
I have no idea as i put everything on almost immediately after purchasing the 4runner, all I know is i get 14.1-14.6 right now, just not sure of the difference before and after. This is also a 3rd vehicle for us so I never purchased for anything economical mpg wise as i new it was going to be heavy as hell, lol

So you say you are in Florida and only have sand, have you heard about Hardrock Off Road Park in Ocala?
