*I've seen it before on other cobbler channels. It's a trench for the stitch line. It helps the stitches last longer with the boots. The soles will eventually wear down, until the stitches do meet with the ground. It won't effect the quality of the boots. The boots will still keep together, even when some of the stitches wear away. Having the trench is a nice detail to have to allow the resole to last longer 😊*
Ok I noticed that the foot bed and the gemming is loose and the structure of the boots is no longer sound why didn't you pull the foot bed and replaced the gemming with new so when going back together the boot doesn't loose the structure ? I used stand that the owner of the boots want to paid as little as possible but the resole will fail is time ! And no Mid sole not for me
I offer a range of options to take your boots to the next level, but ultimately, it’s up to the customer to decide. When it’s time to resole your boots, you can request these options, and by paying for them, any cobbler will be glad to deliver exactly what you’re looking for. I hope this clears up any concerns!
This is not an ideal repair, but it's also not anywhere near as bad as you are making it out to be. There is absolutely no guarantee that the gemming will fail. The cobbler properly applied new glue, which will affix the gemming to both the footbed and the cork. This new glue almost always holds everything in place until the next resole. Also, the new sole adds another layer of lateral reinforcement, that will keep the vamp from widening. Is it perfect? No, but perfect costs more money. Incase you haven't noticed , not many people have the extra money to spare these days. I'm sure if you offered to pay for perfect, the owner of the boots would be happy to take you up on the offer!
*According to the cobbler in another comment, this is how the customer wanted their boots repaired. It's up to the customer if they want a midsole or not. So he can definitely add one if you want one for your next resole 😊!*
Thanks from Kiev
Good job
interesting, using a hand scribe tool to create the stitch line, not seen others do that.
Thank you! Cheers!
