4:28 He stays so rested because elves only need to trance 4 hours a day to receive the same rest other races need 8 hours for! Come on, Stephen, get it together!
mmmpathy we bond over Tabletop RPGs like we're long lost relatives meeting for the first time, but in our case the conversations we have bonding together won't calm down, and will even rev up when we play a campaign.
For the people offended Colbert said "I don't speak Spanish" regarding the Portuguese: did it not occur to you that it's possible that was an intentional moment of humor, to purposefully feign ignorance especially when talking about awkward Brazilian porn channels? Colbert is a pretty well-educated guy, and he spoke a lot of Spanish on the Colbert Report over the years, so I'm sure he does know at least some Spanish. It's like if someone said "Konnichi wa" and someone replied to be funny, "I don't speak Chinese". Colbert may have very well slipped there, but I doubt it; he's usually pretty on point.
“Elves have extra dexterity” I love how legit Colbert is. Cooper played one game of DND one time and is trying to get to Colbert’s level. This dude is a level 100 dungeon master
For those wondering: Stephen played a D&D session (a one-shot) with Critical Role's Matthew Mercer, a professional voice actor for Red Nose Day. It's fantastic and gives a great example of Dungeons and Dragons.
I've gotten over people admitting that they played D&D like it's a secret. When we were kids you hid that stuff but honestly little makes a celebrity seem more sexy and down-to-earth than knowing what a 20-sided die is.
It's incredible to see how great of an interviewer stephen is. Up to 2:00 you could see that cooper didn't have much to add, do stephen talked for most of the time. But he knew with kevin smith to stop talking. Both interviews not at all awkward, but conducted in different ways
My dead human paladin is cheering from heaven (no grave since his body got destroyed, since he was within the blast radius when the demon he killed exploded)
HALF ELF BARDS REPRESENT!!! (though 1st Edition Bards were just nutso OP, fighter HP, then thief skills, THEN Druid spells? no wonder nerfed in 2nd edition!)
I'm from Australia and didn't know who he was until he was on the Kathy Griffin show, and damn........he's adorable. I can't help but smile when he laughs.
Honestly I think it's awesome that all of these celebs are admitting to being huge into DnD; it really makes the hobby look better than it used to look a decade before.
I don't always agree with Coopz, nor some of his choices in reporting etc. But I still like who he seems to be as a person, or who he presents himself as. Seems like a really pleasant dude to be around with a big heart. Internet; make of that as you will lol.
As the shut-in at home, I think I just etched the bottom surface of my desk. Both man-crushes do D&D, and one met the God-King himself? Elminster's beard!
If Anderson would just step up his game and do more hard journalism instead of the everyone has a valid opinion approach he could go down as one of the all time greats.
Of all the journalists on the major news networks, Cooper does the "hardest" journalism. There's no escaping the valid opinion approach during the election news cycle anyway, otherwise you wouldn't exactly be a journalist.
Hat in Grand Canyon Only by the current journalistic standards. And the only times I see him as great is the still very occasional times he puts the interviewee into their place by immediately pointing out their bullshit and quoting their own words back if the guest attempts a flip-flop.
People need to chill and stop overreacting. Mistakes and brainfart moments do happen. I'm sure Colbert knows they speak Portuguese in Brazil, he probably just heard "anal aventura" and his brain just gravitated towards Spanish without thinking because it sounds like spanish. I once told someone that they speak Brazilian in Brazil even though i knew full well they speak Portuguese over there. People make mistakes, it's what we humans do best. Despite what we may like to think, Stephen too - is only human like the rest of us.
mickys333 Small mistakes in a big moment become big mistakes. This isn't quite a rocket launch or a presidential speech, but it is a tens-of-millions-are-listening moment.
Not a big deal, and i'm brazilian. Thing is, our portuguese actually differs quite a lot from the original Portugal one, so some people believe we should call Brazilian. It's pretty much already PT-BR. And again: Not a big deal.
We actually speak Brazilian, have you heard someone from here speak and compared to a Portuguese speaking? We can understand each other but it's very dissimilar
I can't believe I missed it the first time around. Watching them geek over D&D brings joy to my heart! I now want to go to NYC to play with Stephen and Anderson. PS: My characters were elvish too.
I feel sorta sad but still amused because I haven't played dnd yet, and know basically nothing; it doesn't stop me from seeing my favorite late show host nerd out.
Awww, that intro cleared some stuff up. Been on a Colbert/ cooper UA-cam binge & wondered why they were always so distant on the intros.....now I know.
OK now there has to be a D&D episode where Anderson Cooper, Joe Manganiello, Will Wheaton, Vin Diesel, and Stephen Colbert all play D&D live. That would have to be the whole episode and it would be awesome!
When he said “we just show out about 99% of the people in here” 😂 I love whenever I discover that another celebrity loves D and D. If they’re really serious about playing, they should look into going on Critical Role.
They either need to play a game of DnD together or atleast spend an hour or 2 just talking about their DnD experiences. Im sad that the only DnD we've seen Stephen in was the red nose day video, really really wish we had more

Stephen has a really high Charisma stat. Love his interviews.
He must have rolled three sixes
+Willfilms1 don't they use 20 sided dice?
When you create a character you roll for their stats with a 6 sided dice. - possibly the nerdiest piece of information I know
+kronicOverseer some people opt to use 3 D6s over s D20, perhaps throwing in a 4th D6 if they want to raise the stakes once or twice in a gsme.
+eliza washington thank u
Of course he's an elf. He never ages.
_blood of virgins_
And he's so damn hot.
Anderson is a lying ASSHOLE ! Works for Fake News CNN
+just looking for truth everyone needs to make a living. not everyone can be so selective about their careers

how can someone look old and young at the same time?

Elves, man. Keep up.
For an Elves is normal to look old and young at the same time

Shit me too
Well
I thought the call was for me for sure!
That was a sweet D&D bro down.

Elf's should always be on guard duty during short rests
Lol

You get a d12 inspiration dice, sir!
that's a 5e thing. Stephen is old school.
I adore Anderson's giggling! So adorable
multiBurnfire I know! He is such a cute giggler!
I am 100% convinced that the "bro hug" was invented to keep the arms as a barrier separating the guys so that their junk wouldn't touch.
It is. Nudists started it, called it the A frame hug so guys wouldn't accidentally sword fight.😀
Big brain
Really ya think!
@@aaronhumphrey2009 damn... TIL

"The shut-in at home is really excited." - I legitimately was like OMG SEMPAI NOTICED ME!
Stephen and Anderson need to do a blanket fort skit together, they're just so cute.
i doubt the world could handle it
I had the geek giggles in the first three minutes of this video.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one. :D
Hihi me to!
And cringes for me because Mr Cooper came off as having very shallow experience with D&D compared to Stephen
I have never loved Anderson Cooper more than I do at this moment.
You should listen to his last 2 interviews on Howard Stern Show if you haven't already. AC's an American treasure.
This was such an awesome interview. ☺️ It was like a conversation between old friends.
If you meet a fellow D&D player, you instantly connect
mmmpathy we bond over Tabletop RPGs like we're long lost relatives meeting for the first time, but in our case the conversations we have bonding together won't calm down, and will even rev up when we play a campaign.

and now two of those exist, on the critical role channel
@@Danarcis I like the one where he teams up with the Nott, Yasha and Beau from the Mighty Nein to get back his dignity.

I always love to hear Anderson Cooper laugh.
They're so nerdy together! I love it!
this interview is just so good, two fantastic humans and hosts/interviewers with fantastic chemistry. And D&D.
2:20 Steven makes a hand gesture. You can tell he innocently made a "rolling of the dice" motion while others saw something a bit more hanky panky.
Can we please have a livestream or something of Stephen, Anderson, Jon Stewart, and Felicia Day playing D&D, with Vin Diesel as the Dungeon Master???
I would have Stephen as the DM
Add Wil Wheaton, Ta-Nehisi Coates and Dame Judi Dench. They also play D&D.
Samuel Irvin I don't think Vin Diesel is a good choice for DM. He is pretty awkward.
what about terry crews tho
there is only one dm for this crazy and you know it's Mercer

Since forever.
Absolutely
I'm a straight male and I would totally blow him and talk about our future together while cuddling. No homo
I LOVE how Colbert knows so much about Tolkien. Seriously though, don't bother asking Elves for advice, it's fairly pointless.
Except in that you can develop insight into the nature of your aiming by asking them those questions.
pointless? I see what you did there.
I now have the distinct desire to draw Anderson Cooper as an elf.
And Stephen Colbert as his hobbit sidekick.
I want a party with Cooper, Colbert, Mangienello and Crewes DMed by Mercer. On Critical Role.
Cooper is such a dork lmao like he giggles like a school girl lol it's hilarious!

Stephen Colbert as a guest PC on Critical Role?

Violent Femmes as the background music? Love it!
