Rex and Daniel, of the Whiskey Tribe, said it best - "the best whisk(e)y is the one you like to drink, the way you like to drink it." Also, 100% agree on you about additive free tequila. Some of us don't have the luxury of having access to tons of budget friendly, quality, tequila brands.
Rex and Daniel have the best attitude towards whisky tasting! Love their content! I bought two bottles of expensive tequilas last year for sipping.. collectively costs me $300... no way I'm using those for margaritas :P
Exactly, bourbon like scotch, beer or even wine is an acquired taste and everyone's tastes are different. Myself I dont drink bourbon but I do use it to make my vanilla extract. Cheers Rob 🥃from Canada
Since so much bourbon is very samey, it's good actually to seek out bourbons with different finishes or unique mash bills. And while it might be useful to know what a particular label's reputation is, it's also important to know that all taste is subjective, especially when comparing spirits. At the end of the day, enjoy what you enjoy.
Don't talk to me Wisconsin Old Fashioned drinker! LOLOL 🤣🤣🤣... I kid, I kid because I love! You're right! Tiki and rum also suffers from this toxic behavior also.. some people just can't appreciate a good coconut rum 😜
As a bartender I have to agree with you, some guest come to me with the "surprise me" (with a cocktail) I don't know what you like, so I ask questions like, sweet, bitter, sour, fruity, ect, to find out what they should like, if they keep with the "I don't know surprise me) I not Houdini, so I create a story about the cocktail and why people "loves it" so anything I create they would love it, just because of the history behind it.... Human, they always want to feel special
Never listen to those self appointed "nerds" 😂 One of the reasons I don't give scores is that you might like a smoky whiskey more than me, so I go for tasting notes and whether or not I like it, without telling people what they should like!
Finished whiskeys, be they scotch, bourbon or irish, are all without question some of my favorite spirits to sip neat. Maker's 46 and Angel's envy, Bunnahabhain and Glendronnach, Jameson black barrel and Powers three swallow. BONUS: they're actually pretty affordable!(relatively at least). The rum community can be a bit irritating about added sugar and caramel coloring as well. Just put the dosage on the label. I'm going to buy it anyway if it tastes good and maybe the label will stop rum snobs from commenting every time they see the offending bottles in my bar.
You mean some troll on the enter web. Doesn’t know everything, and there taste is not the Word of God. Wow!!! I learned something new everyday. Good thing everyone one doesn’t there own soap box. The world would be crap.
1 million percent with you!!!!
Thanks Glen! Cheers!

And they are nice about providing notes in a positive manner.

oh nice, I've only ever made vanilla extract with vodka.. does the bourbon flavor come through in the final product?

absolutely! cheers! 🥃
Rob I absolutely love every single thing you said in this video. SO WELL SAID!!
Thanks! Cheers! 🥃
Rob, preach baby, preach! This is especially true with tiki also, and it drives me up the wall.

That’s a good trick for sure! Cheers!
Sound advice and style.
thanks! Cheers!
Malort is good. Especially used as bitters. Interesting flavors. Neat evolution. I will die on this hill bottle in hand.
I love it! But can’t get it in Canada! … a fellow UA-camr sent me a small 2oz bottle. Made a white negroni with it! Delicious!
Now I want to try the rye (in an Old Fashioned, because that's how I like to drink right now.)
It’s really nice! Haven’t tried it in an old fashioned yet!
I value only 1 opinion. Mine. I will try anything before I make a judgement.
I also value your opinion! 🤗
👍
thanks for watching! cheers! 🥃
Not a Bourbon fan but I enjoyed your video! Cheers! I admit I’m a peated scotch snob!! lol!!😂
🤣 I’d say you’re an enthusiast, not a snob! So am I!
@@RobsHomeBar Yes!!! Thanks Rob!!! 🙂

Exactly! That makes sense! I tend not to rank either, just give notes and my overall impression Cheers!

Agreed! Finished whiskeys are the best!
If you wanna offend rum purists, just tell them your favorite rum is Malibu 🤣🤣
@@RobsHomeBar "Uhhhh...my favorite rum? hmmm...I like Malibu, but it's pretty harsh on it's own so I like to mix it with coke!" 😈
