I hate the way the punks got booed but there was barely any reaction to the girl who was obsessed with gangs. Being in a gang is far more dangerous than being punk, believe me.
Yet somehow, at least for a while it was more socially accepted, and even glamorized. I mean gangster rap was/still is really popular, but punk is still seen by a lot of people as ONLY dark, rebellious, even evil or dangerous.
MathildaDee_Lillyluvsanime I thinks it's mainly because fashion in hip-hop is not to much different from mainstream fashion, unlike certain punk fashions. Looks play a huge role in public perception, even if they shouldn't.

The worst part is they never let the girls talk or finish what they’re saying. Like they just let the audience interrupt and it’s so rude. This is a disgusting show.
I stopped at 5:16. Full grown adults attacking children. She obviously had to take care of her mother far too young, and brain injuries can make people extremely volatile. Her mother may have very well abused her daughter. This show is sickening. I can't even finish it.
Instesd of trying to comprise with my daughter and try to actually talk to her like a normal human, I will ask a bynch of bullies on a tv show to do it for me! I'M SUCH A GOOD PAREEENNNT!
True, and I don't condone that. However these mothers are just psychopaths. To be worried about your daughter joining a gang is normal. However publicly bullying her on a TV show is a load of horse shit. If you have a problem with your kid have a serious sit down with her and address it. Don't publically humiliate her in front of a live audience. All that will do is get her more upset, and continue with what she was doing in the first place.
Max Kanaszka I believe that mother was trying her best. My brother was lost to street violence in 98’ and just about a month before, my mom signed up for one of these types of shows, with (in her eyes) no other option (being a single mom of 3 boys and having already tried everything in the book). Gangs are absolutely serious, and insanely dangerous. My younger brother and I had to be extremely careful about how we acted and what we said growing up, because one wrong move and we’re dragged into a situation similar to the one our big brother was in. RIP Connor ❤️ 1980-1998
Serenity Grant anyone who has been judged and ridiculed and outcast by society is usually the nicest people because they know how bullying feels and they don't want others to feel that way. I love people who don't fit society's norms.
Ikr? I remember when I used to watch these shows, parents always lament on how they lost their little boy or girl on account that they became teenagers! It's not really about their teenage children dressing differently. The root of it is that the parents would rather have their kids stay little children forever than face them becoming adults.
I really hope they went back to expressing themselves they way THEY intended. These girls were more beautiful when they were themselves because they were HAPPY and KNEW they were beautiful.
LOLOL! The people that dress like this only do so because they LACK any personality whatsoever. They're dull, idiotic people that nobody pays attention to..... so instead of developing a personality, they dress in some stupid, over-the-top way to get attention. PEOPLE LIKE THIS NEED TO BE TALKED DOWN TO!!! THEY NEED TO BE MADE FUN OF, OR THEY WILL NEVER GROW OUT OF IT AND DRESS LIKE HUMAN BEINGS. Dressing like this means no worth-while job will hire you.... nobody will see past the stupid shit you're wearing. IF YOU HAVE A REAL PERSONALITY, YOU WOULDN'T NEED A 'LOOK' TO DEFINE YOU. get out of here with this weak ass shit. REMEMBER: MAKING FUN OF GOTH, EMO, AND PEOPLE THAT DRESS OVER-THE-TOP IS DOING THEM A GREAT FAVOR! MAKE FUN OF THEM AS HARD AS YOU CAN IN HOPES THAT THEY WILL REALIZE THEY'RE GOING NOWHERE IN LIFE.
even if someone has a medical condition, if there is actual abuse going on no doctors note should be able to write that away. these people are disgusting.
Also sunnie is such a great kid. She literally just wants to express herself. Shes clearly very against drug use and drinking and i love that she sticks with that and tries to teach the other girls to do the same and not lie. Sunnie is great and def needs to be treated with way more respect from that audience bc theyre treating her like shit for literally dying her hair but not acknowledging how smart she actually is.
I feel so bad for her daughter :( the damage comments like those do to a girl who's still growing and trying to figure themselves out is so disgusting.
The people in the audience were so rude to the people on stage I'm disappointed. People should be able to express themselves the way they see fit. This is actually quite angering.
Well, I feel like bullying is needed sometimes. Like the girl in the gang; She needed to stop that dangerous behavior and a little bullying can help that, you know? edit: Jesus christ, so many people are yelling at me. I'm kidding. I don't actually want her to be bullied.
I was raised by an active addict so I go to a group meeting for adult kids of dysfunctional families... and one of the people who goes literally is there bc their parents went on a show like this and the topic was “having a kid (meaning the person I know) ruined our sex life” (yes really)... this person got so bullied about it... not only would no ones parents let their kid hang out w them, bc obviously all the other parents thought they were freaks... but even like legit any friend they made before their parents went on the show didn’t want to be associated w them anymore, bc who wants to be friends with the person who’s known as being from the freak family... or friends w the kid who’s parents “don’t have sex anymore” bc of their existence? So this kid legit never had a friend bc of their parents decision to go on one half hour long show when they were like 9. I met her when she was around 23-25 and she was having SERIOUS struggles still bc obviously if you never trusted anyone or had a friend til 18 you wouldn’t just move out of your parents house and suddenly be normal. Life is so hard for her because of one selfish decision to go on a tv show like this. Anyway I thought it was interesting to see how something like this really destroyed someone and they weren’t even on the show...
Custer Custer The girl in the g@ng was bullied least. Are you joking? One of the kids- a literal 15 year old kid- was called “white tr@sh” (UA-cam is being super weird about replies that have “trigger words” cause it thinks I’m being mean to you) by an adult man bc she had shaved hair and black clothes.... if you’re triggered by the word “bu//ying” like I am, then let’s just call it cruel... Character building: You deserve better than a life where you’re giving people an excuse to make fun of you just because you think they will anyway. You’re better than that. And anyone who makes fun of you is just as insecure as you, don’t let them use you to make themselves feel better. You deserve to feel good too. Cruel: Change your clothes. You look like white tr@sh. This girl probably got called that for the next four years Of Hs.... bc of a grown man.
the girls are literally getting verbally attacked for what they’re wearing and the audience wont let them defend themselves, its sad that adults would attack teenagers like this
They all speak so well and express their opinions and arguments confidently, yet the audience members are shouting crass comments and insults.. it’s easy to see how frustrated the girls must feel at the idiocy and snap judgements of the audience. Also, Dorothy’s outfit was fine, hardly revealing at all and would definitely be worn by most 15 year olds today.
@@BrocksJellyFilledDoughnuts EXACTLY! The humiliation these people went through was so scary to me. I think I would k*ll myself right after this if it was me. These parents are so horrible.

Right, I behave and respect my mom and give her the grades she wants. But the thing is, I dress in dark clothes and like skulls, my mom told me that I need god in my life because I like rock too. I just find it unfair, my older brother (hes 25) told me I shouldnt care about what she thinks and just like and wear what I want. :(
H Seriously though, I went to LA and I'm from Kansas so I'm a Royals fan and I was wearing a Royals jersey and my aunt told me I couldn't wear it out. 😬
I just don’t understand how a mother can ever say her daughter scares her simply because she looks different. It makes me sick that any of these parents would allow their children to be belittled and bullied this way. If someone even looks at my son wrong I’m all over them. I personally will be proud when my Rex expresses exactly who he is. The 90s were horrible for people who fought against the main stream
But it doesn't make sense though. People were going unconventional in the 1960s and 1970s. One would think that by the 1990s, this would have been acceptable.
Beet Not only that, every black girl in the 90s dressed like that and has some kind of box braid hairstyle so idk what the moms problem is. It wasn’t even a modesty issue because the dress they put her in was just as long as the shorts. Something is wrong with the mom
They were so wrong to take her braids out, so much nicer than what they gave her 😭😭😭 they were so well done too, they looked fresh for the show, I think that's why she was so angry after.. don't blame her one bit
But the thing is, Sunny isn't a bad kid. She was just trying to express herself in a way she felt was more comfortable and more like herself. I don't see a single thing wrong with that :(
This is really unsettling to watch. It's just adults bulling young people for reasons that don't matter at all. Why this was allowed on television I'll never know.
I never realized it when I was a kid watching these shows. but watching it now is unnerving. it basically is public spamming of those who choose to be themselves and not just another sheep.
+Eleanor Partridge this is a change in generations. I was around that age then, this is just how it was. This is why people my age get so annoyed at the 'anti bullying' stuff we see today. We learned to cope so can this generation. It is part of growing up, and becoming comfortable with who you are. Bullying is wrong but If you can't find a way to deal with it, you will likely conform into behaving and looking like everyone else even though you don't feel like everyone else. Thats why we delt with it and as a result we learned to mature, and grow, and genuinely not care what was thought of us. all these kids have jobs, are responding maturely and are living responsibly. this is why it was allowed on tv,, this is why the outrage of being judged or shamed for any reason needs to stop. Shaming is wrong, but Not growing up and just being yourself and learning to cope with mean people is worse. (sorry if this is written weird i had a few drinks)
This was so common in the 90s. I grew up watching these with my mom, and we always thought the guests looked just fine. I had a mom who let me experiment with hair color and clothes. She trusted me to work through things and express myself. The audience disgusts me.
+Eleanor Partridge i know right this video makes me uncomfortable just to watch, how can adults speak to these children like this..... and get praised for it
+Eleanor Partridge Mmmm I guess you're really young? This was a THING in the 90s, all people volunteered, and the teens loved to show off their fashions even if they didn't smile and pretended to hate it. Crazy fashion (much crazier than this) was a thing in the 90s and many parents didn't like it. Not a big shock. My sister used to be a freak. When the minimum wage was $4.25 she'd regularly spend a couple hundred dollars on day trips to NYC to buy custom-made Marilyn Manson-esque goth clothing. Obviously my parents weren't thrilled. Instead of saving $ for life after HS, she was blowing it all on clothes.
THIS is why alternative was rare back in the 1900's and early 2000's. not because alt is ''trendy'' now but because there is more acceptance and material available for people to actually express their true selves. i don't think that i as a metalhead would've had half the chance to listen to the music i like or dress how i want because of how heavily i would've been discriminated back then
I agree, I remember a Ricky lake episode when they force a group of goth kids to dress in nicer clothes, one goth girl cried in embarrassment, I think the audience boo on that not realizing that these goth teens rights were violated, they wanted a living doll, a walking trophy
Yeah it's Soo fucked up the host is really patronizing and the audience is just fucking disgusting. They treat them like they need to be cured when. Nothing is fucking wrong with them
The fact that most of these kids have been dressing like this for years just proves that no matter how hard you try, you can't take the punk out of them😂
Attention all e-kids.....this is where you came from. These people walked so you could run. This is what the alternative crowd went through before everything was a trend.
Ahrianna Macias even with the e-kids people gave me shit for teasing my hair like robert smith obviously i didn’t give a shit because i felt cool. all happened my junior year 2018-19. i stopped teasing my hair to grow it out to be the long hair black metal look because i just have an interest in dark fashion and music. all in all i don’t do it for trends and appreciate what these people went through getting ridiculed by adults on national tv, i just hope more people do also
You can literally see the pain in the girls’ eyes. Like they all look upset and that the feel unwanted. It’s so upsetting to see these girls be patronized for dressing how they want.
dana hickman I get where you're coming from but when 13 and 14 yr old girls are dressing provocative, that doesn't fall under the same category. They are going to attract predators. Of course they are upset. The younger girls are rebellious and want to do what they want, and not respect their parents. When you turn 18, do what you want. Until then you have to obey the rules of the house. Plus, I wouldn't condone any young girl under 18 to dress like a sex worker. It brings the wrong kind of attention.
@@kyttehwytchwood6072 how about instead of punishing people or younge people for dressing in a certain way bc it attracts unwanted attention. how about punish those predictors or pedos

Great comment, I was thinking the same.. adults say that kids are the worst bullies when in fact it is the parents. And kids learn that from their parents and become bullies themselves.
My kiddo is 15 and goth. Him and his friends get bullied daily. My son is also apart of the lgbtq+ community and gets bullied even more for that. It's been so bad and people need to accept people for who they are and stop judging them for how they dress. Its sad.

Max Kanaszka I would agree, but her daughter explicitly said she was affiliated with a gang
That literally describes Billie Eilish 😂
Max Kanaszka I believe that mother was trying her best. My brother was lost to street violence in 98’ and just about a month before, my mom signed up for one of these types of shows, with (in her eyes) no other option (being a single mom of 3 boys and having already tried everything in the book). Gangs are absolutely serious, and insanely dangerous. My younger brother and I had to be extremely careful about how we acted and what we said growing up, because one wrong move and we’re dragged into a situation similar to the one our big brother was in. Ikr? I remember when I used to watch these shows, parents always lament on how they lost their little boy or girl on account that they became teenagers! It's not really about their teenage children dressing differently. The root of it is that the parents would rather have their kids stay little children forever than face them becoming adults.

This girl probably got called that for the next four years Of Hs.... bc of a grown man.
the girls are literally getting verbally attacked for what they’re wearing and the audience wont let them defend themselves, its sad that adults would attack teenagers like this

yea fr maybe they did that to encourage them they look better like wtf this teens are not dress that bad
“yOu LooK StOOpid”
“YOU LOOK EVEN WORSE LADY SO YOU SHUTUP”

They all speak so well and express their opinions and arguments confidently, yet the audience members are shouting crass comments and insults.. it’s easy to see how frustrated the girls must feel at the idiocy and snap judgements of the audience. Also, Dorothy’s outfit was fine, hardly revealing at all and would definitely be worn by most 15 year olds today.

Idk what’s wrong with the girl with box braids, she’s dressed like a normal woman from 2020

THIS is why alternative was rare back in the 1900's and early 2000's. not because alt is ''trendy'' now but because there is more acceptance and material available for people to actually express their true selves. i don't think that i as a metalhead would've had half the chance to listen to the music i like or dress how i want because of how heavily i would've been discriminated back then

dana hickman I get where you're coming from but when 13 and 14 yr old girls are dressing provocative, that doesn't fall under the same category. They are going to attract predators. Of course they are upset. The younger girls are rebellious and want to do what they want, and not respect their parents. When you turn 18, do what you want. It makes you start to wonder who the real “degenerates” are, punks don’t disrespect people in the way that these adults had
It’s called self expression,
what is wrong with being yourself and being able to be who you want to be?
The one tht dressed like a “gangster” was literally gorgeous and she dresses how ppl dress now.
I'm so happy people can dress how they want now
I'd literally wear her outfit
Tayler Hylton ay yo her outfit bomb foo!
she is drop dead gorgeous
@@unknownkid3625 hahahhaha, no they fucking can't. You walk around in public with a 5 inch mo hawk or 6 inch spikes held together by industrial glue, with your face painted white, wearing eyeliner, having a bunch of bullshit pinned to your clothing with safety pins..... you THINK you're getting away with it, but in reality, YOU LOOK FUCKING STUPID, but everyone's afraid to tell you because of how goddamned PC everything is now.
You could ALWAYS "dress how you want"...... it's just that people used to speak up when they see STUPID in front of them, and now they just talk about you in private instead.
This feels like an episode of black mirror
Facts
How so? Which episode? Lol
@@Desiree917us the concept and legit eveything about it
Desiree Abell - In a way this reminds me of 15 Million Merits and White Bear
@@mangledmetal1 I've seen both those episodes. 15 million merits is my fav. I'm sure your right, but can you help me see what you see?
SHE'S 18. SHE IS WEARING SHORTS.
HOLY SHIT A LEGAL ADULT WEARING CLOTHES
(wasn't expecting this many likes)
Just a lonely emo she should be ashamed!
Mugelbbub they were being sarcastic I think x
ugh. Short Shorts but yeah whtvr
She's 14
It makes me sad how uncomfortable they look after.
Ikr
most of these girls are so smart and mature beyond their years. Cheryl said “if you love her why would you tell her not to come home” and everyone immediately shut her up. Disgusting.
Well if her daughter joined a gang shes putting the rest of the family in danger. Its kinda messed up but shes endagering her families lives if she really is gang affiliated
@@ashleyjones9787 that makes no sense though. So bring your daughter home and don't allow her to be in a gang.
@@ryanthomas49 there are so many dumb cunts who are in gangs and dont tell there parents and shit can happen if the person does something wrong they can in danger there family.
@@ashleyjones9787 yea well if you kick your kid out that doesnt solve shit that just means your kids getting pushed more into the gang because now they're broke and homeless with no one to support them, other than the gang.
@@auggiemain yeah but let me ask u if u had the responsibility would u risk the life of your other children for the sake of one who dosen't wanna listen to u and don't seem to care about anybody but themselves
Cherelyn seems like a sweet person. She still calls her mom "mommy". Even her mom says it's not right that they judged her daughter because of her appearance.
"she shaved her head and pierced her ears with a thumbtack" now thats hardcore.
That's pretty metal.
I mean I did the same thing🤷
Darling Darylann I know right. Jesus it’s just hair. It’s not like she murdered someone.
I'm just worried about the thumbtack part. Like it better be clean.
I gave myself a tattoo with a sewing needle and ink
Sunny I'm glad you kept your style and creativity to this day! I love seeing your new videos and I'm glad all those bullying on TV didn't change you. Lots of love!
How are these parents letting the audience talk to their CHILDREN like that - what the hell
I 100 percent agree!
yea if i was one of those teens i would probably choke them
If they were good parents they would never feature their children on the show to begin with ....
Jesus was that a talk show or a public stoning???
Yes
This show got somebody killed you know
Oh wow that's terrible.
@@angelrose1714 is this the show which made a man kill his friend because he had a crush on him?
Hollie oi yes
This is awful. They don’t let the kids talk about why they look like they do, they just laugh and mock them for looking anything different from their cookie cutter mold. Disgusting. Everyone in this audience should be ashamed of themselves.
Exactly how every single “mainstream” person in the 80s and 90s acted
I couldn't imagine growing up in the 90s or any decade in the 1900s for that matter. I feel like people were so judgmental and ignorant during this time. Thank goodness I was born in 1997.
Cherelyn is a complete vibe idc what anyone says
She's smokin... Both before and after!
This video should be called "How to break trust with your child and bully them in only the short span of an hour!"
YEAH
I hated how some parents would be like "I want her back" well the reason she isn't back is bc of how judge mental you are to the way she chooses to express herself it's just clothes it's not like she all of sudden became a whole different being. Instead of treating them like a personal doll and judging how they want to dress they should be there for them instead of cruel judging and doing things like this to them.
Emo Cat well said 👌 I wish people would learn to be less judgemental and just let their kids discover themselves on their own.
all us alt kids today owe it to carrie, sunnie and cherelyn
Up yours Jenny Jones!
I wonder how they're doing now
@@trashmouse_cosplay well sunny posted this video so she's doing very good now. Check the vid description. :)
@@SariennMusic73 Oh yeah I noticed that after I posted the comment haha. But I'm still wondering what happened to the other girls and if they're doing good..
Well im good I have my kids my mom died so that's over but im really good my kids dress like me and are heavy in the los Angeles music scene apple's don't fall far from the tree I love u guys for wondering
"I hate that people stare at my daughter and judge her for her appearance... so instead of getting mad at those people, I'll get mad at her and ask her to change her appearance."
He never really had a problem with my appearance... He was an awesome Dad!
@@sunniedazecoleman5696 I agree with you that your Dad is awesome, he looks really kind. And I LOVE how you create your own individual artistic style!
I always wanted a teenager who would dress outrageously because I am a crazy 🤪 lady, lol.
But my son (born in 1982) was more conservative so I missed our on walking down the street with a kid with blue hair or something. ❤️ 😊
That SIT DOWN, *BOY!* was so perfectly executed it brings a tear to my eye.
Sunnie, you were Jack Osbourne before Jack was Jack Osbourne. *THATS ROCK N ROLL, BABY!*
these parents have the COOLEST kids.... smh ungrateful.
Nahhhhh everyone HAS to have the most generic cookie cutter kids imaginable and be devoid of any personality ready to be married off at 18-20
Maybe besides Angie. She doesn't seem to understand the risk of actually being part of a gang
@@mclijah6472 I don't think she really was in a gang. I think she just liked the clothing style.
Yea my mom is in this vid she ks wearing the white zombie shirt
@@ryanthomas49 that's very possible lol, a lot of the time parents just have zero idea what their kids are really into yknow
adult men telling girls to dress different? disgusting. even the host is disgusting for encouraging the audiences behaviour.
Adult men and women*
Henk Henk it’s mainly the men being aggressive though, standing up and shouting etc
Exactly! to be enforcing stereotypes on a child who dresses unaccordingly with society Will only make them actually want to do rebel more and do the things that people think their doing. Your style doesn't deify your personality
Cherelyn seems like she's having a blast being on this ridiculous show haha she marched in there like "hell yea here I am! Look at me and cry!" Strong personality. I hope she's doing well
I wish I had her energy
Yeah she’s awesome
Her energy terrifies me and I’m happy for her. I hope she is still terrifying the normies.
I really loved her personality
These adults are bullying these kids because they couldn’t be themselves at a young age .
Sunnie broke my heart, she was so happy and confident and when she came out, she seemed so sad and lost.
KatZombieDoll sunnie literally seems like such a chill person
she's so cute tbh
same
dude me too
KatZombieDoll She had a face like: Did I look that bad? You guys didn't like me at the beginning, but now that I look normal, you guys like me?
The fact these ADULT women and men are talking about young girls sexually (and lets not forget those revealing shots of the “provocative girls”) is absolutely disgusting. This show is so gross and I hope these beautiful women found some solace. I’m so glad they were able to stand up for themselves, but god this was awful.
they are kids
babesway hahahahhahaha
This shits hilarious.
This isn't nothing look up GG ALLIN
Yeah the mom was like “now she’s gorgeous! Right boys?? 😏” ew that’s ur kid a minor 🤢 let her be a kid pls
It made me tear up when I saw that they dyed their hair and cut it..they put so much effort into it just for people to strip it all away, Sunnie looked so angry and disappointed afterwards, I felt so bad. This is bullying.
I teared up laughing when I saw one of the girls dies her hair with koolaid. lmfao
I really hope these kids when back to their punk selves afterward, it’s awful what they did :(
I don’t think they should remake them , it makes them feel like their ugly as gent arw
As they are *
It's crazy to imagine that by today's standards, their aesthetic would be appreciated instead of insulted.
I genuinely think they all looked great.
uh. now people raid our cultures styles. we do not appreciate them.
get your things straight
Dude. That chick with the Mohawk was hot as hell. And she had her head on straight. She’s a badass.
I would feel the same if not for the Charles Manson idol worship
That Price OMG RIGHT I WAS LIKE I WILL TAKE HER
Yeah I found her really hot too
That Price although I must note that she does seem very intelligent, she has probably grown out of that type of toxic idolization long ago by now.
Yeah I wonder where all of them are nowadays... Especially her
