This is my official Destiny 2 Midnight Coup review. The gun is just a jack of all trades. Excellent in PvE, with multiple God Rolls & combos for every occasion. The gun also shines in PvP, although I have more mixed feelings about it there. Let's go over the Midnight Coup God Roll(s), my thoughts on the Midnight Coup, & more.

@user-pq8on8bx9gJudgement is a PvE hand cannon, Eyasluna is a PvE/PvP hand cannon, Fatebringer is a PvE/PvP hand cannon, Warden’s Law is a PvE hand cannon, Igneous is a PvE/PvP hand cannon, Word of Crota is a PvE hand cannon, there are definitely quite a few PvE hand cannons.
Firefly + One For All is a match made in heaven. My one problem with OFA has always been having to consciously shoot three different enemies. I know it's very simple and easy to do but it's something I am literally always thinking about every single time I'm in a fight and it's just annoying to me. Firefly is the opposite, literally shoot enemies the way you always do and get rewarded. Together, you basically get the benefits of OFA with the braindead ease-of-use of Firefly, since Firefly's explosions proc OFA
I agree with this. Shooting multiple enemies isn't hard to do at all, but when you're actively thinking about the perk to get that damage bonus, it makes everything feel weird
I've never used One for All because I never wanted to do the OCD counting game when I fight.
BUT, explosive payload + one for all is STUPID. If you shoot into any group of adds once, explosive immediately hits 3 targets and gives you one for all. You always have OFA up and running as long as you're shooting into any group. Pair that with minor spec + kinetic surge mod and any other buff... Holy crap. It hits like a 140 RPM machine gun.

Edit: would you all chill the fuck out. It's all shiny and non shiny versions of the brave weapons. Bungie told us that we could enhance all four traits from the shiny ones when the final shape comes around so chill out please. This also goes for Slammer Wild style summoner and the Prophet, tusk of the boar and multimach CCX and all recently added prophecy weapons.

Explosive Payload + frenzy is an insane roll for endgame pve. You have an almost permanent 30% dmg buff, max handling and reload, and tons of extra range for free, no kills required
Na considering you can get the same roll on the timelost fatebringer so getting it on this is worthless
@dfillio8993 not at all, midnight coup has better stats, has one of the best origin traits in the game (fatebringer has none), can be enhanced, and is way easier to farm. This gun made fatebringer worthless, not the other way around

Na not even close I take it you’ve never done master Templar it litterally takes less than 2 min per run and you’re guaranteed the timelost fatebringer onslaught 10 waves of legend take 10 minutes at a minimum and you’re not even guaranteed the midnight coup even with atunements I’ve had multiple 50 wave runs where I only get 2 weapons im atuned to

Explosive payload currently hurts your damage falloff, even after the changes. (you can still 3 tap, just not as far) Bungie didn't change anything with explosive payload directly, they just buffed the base handcannon damage. You do 78 damage with the perk on, and 81 without the perk. I could literally take my fatebringer, barely miss the 3 tap with explosive payload, but then swap the perk to something else and get the 3 tap slightly out of optimal range. Would recommend looking into this, this will hurt damage perks that help make your gun more forgiving. The optimal range reduction is very slight, only about half a meter but it still matters.
No one has been talking about this. Until bungie adjusts this, I'm probably staying away from the perk.
Yup. It's especially bad on 120s like Bottom Dollar, True Prophecy, Targeted Redaction etc since they didn't do anything about the perk and only buffed 140s. The perk basically just makes guns worse now.
Payloads still geeked for PVE and that’s really where it shines. The PvP roll doesn’t involve payload and imo is moving target, opening shot
@@scrotumscratcher2474 for pve yeah its fine. Also for pvp I'd 100% go for zen moment. Opening shot's range increase is nice but you're losing out on the extra aim assist. Zen moment helps offset the lower stability by reducing flinch. Stacks up faster on handcannons too. Moving target is great tho.
@@Narfwak Yeah. Imo it doesn't need to extend falloff since it already provides extra flinch to enemies, but hurting the range and resilience checks feels terrible.

Seriously, why are content creators telling people to avoid that roll? Its amazing. Maybe they just want to keep it to themselves.
It's SO good, it feels like an exotic perk that slipped through the cracks and makes you able to tackle groups with a HC from ranges you have no business shooting from even in GM's. Thank God one youtuber gets it. Also only gonna get better once it's enhancable.
because its bad. its fine that u want it for fun but realistically they are the worst combo. firefly requires a headshot but kinetic tremours does not do precision damage and may kill off the ad before u could get the precision shot

I never raided back before Beyond Light but I've grown to love this beauty of a hand cannon, Explosive Payload and Rampage makes it's firing sound seem accurate to how it hits

He mostly means in synergy. Players thought EP would add double hit towards KT procs which is not the case.
That said? EP + KT gives a ton of damage and imo is probably the best for high tier content where you have tougher enemies. For low tier red bars? EP helps kill quicker which is almost sort of counter intuitive to KT which needs enemies alive long enough to get hit by 6 shots.
I would definitely hold onto it regardless.

Absolutely tweaking. Kinetic HCs are as powerful as exotics with the right perks and it’s opens up energy and heavy to be your exotic. Learn the game smfh

I got a Fire Fly + Kinetic Tremors Coup and dismantled it when I got those perks on Hung Jury. The faster RPMs on HG allows more frequent KC procs on big targets. And the snappy reload with FF allows you to double down on mag size
I have a firefly/one for all roll and it absolutely shreds in PvE. It's an insanely fun hand cannon and I've enjoyed testing different rolls and just goofing around with it.
Love my Firefly, Tremors combo. It puts in work.
Yep.. except when you're doing easy content.. Then you never set off Kinetic Tremors.. Still fun though

I'm glad I kept my firefly kinetic tremors roll, cause I was going for explosive payload kinetic temors instead and bagged it along the way. Absolutely love this gun makes me fall in love with 140 handcannons again
I have Explosive Payload/One for All and yes it wrecks everything in PVE. I took it into 50 wave Onslaught and it kicks so much ass, just point, shoot, explode, profit. I will try this in a GM next chance I get since we have Unstoppable HC in the artifact this season.
I would run enlightened + zen enlightened gives handling and it maxes out after like 2 hits. kinda like eye of the storm but worse

Great video Fallout as always. My favorite PvE roll I just got is the one that eluded you. Firefly/Kinetic tremors. Only played a few rounds with it but it slaps. I really want explosive/OFA for PvE and explosive/Zen for PvP. Wish me luck! Good luck in getting that firefly/tremors roll. Took me over 40+ guns to get.

I love my Firefly+Frenzy roll sooooo much. Oh how I've missed that thing from back in the days. Was my favorite hand cannon in year 1 PvE and it might become my favorite again. Considering all the competition it has now that's a strong thing to say.
Another point to mention is that with a Firefly+Frenzy roll you can fully spec into range and stability to your liking (and luck ofc) because either one of the perks bumps reload to 100 and Frenzy ofc bumps handling to 100.
I just got a shiny last night with hammer-forged, flared mag, explosive/moving target and one4all/opening shot with a range masterwork. Can’t wait to try that sucker out when I get home from work. 😊👍
also for Pve DO NOT SLEEP ON DESPRETE MEASURES, its going to go insane when prismatic drops and already is going nuts if you run a void devour build seeing you just throw out a nade and you pretty much have max stacks that is 30% and its able to be refreshed. don't sleep on it.

Problem with Desperate Measures is it's 30%, which sounds like a lot (that's Bait and Switch!) until you realize exotic primaries get 40% extra damage to red bars just for existing, which is the enemy you'd most care about shooting a primary at in the first place.
@@life-destiny1196 i didn't even know that was a thing, thank you for the info. however, you still can make use of a good legendary primary like that if you want an exotic in another slot.
The issue with this is you have to jump through hoops to get a 7 second 30% damage buff. One for all in the same slot just needs there to be 3 enemies to get a 10 second 35% damage buff. I don't see why you wouldn't just want one for all.
@Shawstins not saying it's worth the tradeoff, but desperate measures is refreshable, one for all isn't, so once you get it going, you can basically keep it up 24/7 vs one for all will fall off and you have to refresh it
In PVP Midnight is niche who can't compete with Austringer, Eyasluna and Fatebringer this guns just has more better range, stability stats and 90 AA on Midnight can't nothing)) Especially when Eyasluna and Fatebringer has 85 AA.
And also we will get in 30th April Luna's Howl which be also much much better than Midnight.
So if to grind this gun it's only for PVE.

First one i got was a firefly/kinetic tremor roll. It is indeed a slapper and a clapper. Im finding that i really love kinetic weapons on arc subclasses, and ive been using arclock a lot for onslaught. This and mountaintop with auto/recombination has been great
last night i got a shiny midnight coup with smallbore, accurized rounds, and range masterwork. the perks were swapping between either zen moment + moving target for pvp or firefly + kinetic tremors for pve. needless to say i will never be taking it off. i recognize that i may be the envy of many players right now

You do have Midnight Coup attuned right? In case you don’t know, you need to attune whichever weapon you want to drop more often.

Have you tried attuning to it and looting the chest next to Shaxx? It costs 10 trophies every time you dip into the chest and if you're attuned it has a much higher chance of dropping. I had hundreds of trophies stored up from running onslaught and I got like 15 different rolls. I'd really recommend not focusing it for PvP though. It feels good, and in PvE it's absolutely S-Tier, but Austringer, Eyasluna, Rose... they are literally all better.
Plus it's basically going to be instantly left in the dust the moment Luna's Howl is available.
Its a primary. Not much can make it game breaking in either game mode

Elemental primaries like sunshot are just so dominant with subclass synergy specifically with resto, combined with every best special being in the kinetic slot, legendary primaries are already in a tough spot, kinetic ones especially

First drop I got was hammer forged, tac mag, firefly, kinetic tremor and I haven't stopped using it since. Just feels incredible
I got a fluted, flared with range mw firefly, kt roll.. pretty godly
Got mine golden with Firefly/Shoot to loot and Tremors. Just what I wanted. Easily the best legendary kinetic PvE HC and probably the best legendary kinetic weapon in general.
Firefly counts as solar weapon damage btw, so you can use it for solar synergy

I've been lucky enough to get both explosive payload and firefly kinetic tremor rolls multiple times. My go-to loadout has been Scatter Signal, Epochal Integration, Dragons Breath on Solar Titan, but Ill probably be running a new build shortly and I'm really looking forward to running Midnight Coup
I just got a shiny payload/moving target and one for all/opening shot!!! Really happy with that roll
I'd also throw in Explosive Payload plus Desperate Measures. It's a 30% but you can keep it up as long as you get kills and you can get the x3 off of a single grenade or melee rapid kill. For anyone who doesn't really like that one for all timer.
I was actually really intrigued on the attrition orbs roll with tremors and damn that thing gets your super back so fast on star eaters. Goodbye bad juju!
Best one I've gotten is an Explosive/Zen Moment with Range MW and that'll be a favorite goto for PvP.

It feels great. I’ve tried multiple rolls. Zen explosive feels best. firefly and a dmg perk for legendary ace feelings. Needs 2-3 meters extra but it’s solid for dueling

I just got the Firefly/Tremors roll last night - I had it on the HJ SR4 and really wanted it on the MC.
Honestly, the coup's unique model and firing sound are enough to make me use it
I managed to get a Shiney attrition orbs/Explosive payload, kinetic tremors/ rampage roll, pretty happy with that
I just got a Firefly + Kinetic Tremors this morning. I don't like hand cannons (aside from Sunshot), but this has made me open my mind about using weapon archetypes I don't like using... like sniper rifles. I also got a Succession with Recon + Box Breathing & somehow I like using snipers. It's not the best roll, but shit - I'm never gonna have the chance to craft Whisper because I'm not good and I don't really have the time to get good (all I can muster is "meh," which, to me, is better than "bad").
EP and KT are really good combo. i usually play GM, so it's the best kinetic hand cannon so far.
Also, FF and Rampage for usual PVE contents. Both are really easy to proc
I have a coup with 70 range, firefly and tremors. Its amazing.
And a blast furnace with those perks too.
I have the kinetic tremors and firefly roll, feels amazing. But my favorite has been my shiny one with explosive and frenzy, free damage for just using the gun lol

Not a handcannon harold, but got the firefly and KT roll, and, to quote todd howard, "it just works". Which is to say if you want a HC to put out for you when the chips are down this is the play.
Im in love with the Midnight Coup again. I used it when it was an incredibly rare drop from the Leviathan raids, I missed it for years and IT FEELS SO GOOD to have back. I missed it more than fatebringer tbh. (Btw thank you for Pronouncing it Correctly)
This with firefly will free up that secondary slot. Gonna be dropping a few hours tonight I guess.

My first shiny was explosive payload | attrition orb / rampage | kinetic tremor. Pretty satified with it but I'll still look for a firefly one.
the issue i have is that coup is in the wrong slot. My utility special since it's debut has been a disorienting grenade, auto loading, chill clip Lingering Dread. That thing hardly ever comes off, and there are many more tempting options than a 140 hand cannon to take its place
In my first couple of onslaught runs, I got a shiny Coup with Explosive Payload/Firefly in column 3 and Kinetic Tremors in column 4 lol
As a fellow auto rifle fan boy (not been into hand cannons since D1) I've been enjoying the recently. The trust is still a little gem imo. Got an incandescent roll that puts in work. Also got one from crota with the wombo demo/adrenaline.
Going to farm out a great MC for future playing
I managed to snag a firefly kinetic trimmers shiny roll and was the first time in a long time where I jumped out of my chair and was so excited 😅
Haven't done that since season of the splicer when I finally got my subsistence rampage roll chroma rush.

The second coup I got had Firefly and One For All a few later, and I got Explosive Payload and One For All.
Both roles are great, but imo I love Firefly more because solar go boom

I very rarely do PvP and even then I'm not inclined towards HCs, and in PvE it's only when there's a champ mod active, but I'm really enjoying this thing.
The first explosive payload roll I got was rampage... haven't gotten another another one yet. Got a firefly/outlaw roll though
My favorite drop so far is a shiny with kinetic tremors/opening shot and firefly/explosive payload. Have yet to try it out though, suppose that's the plan for today.
Desperate measures x3 can be shared with other brave weapon with desperate measures in other slots. So your midnightCoup has desperate measures x3 you swap to your hammerhead with desperate measures perk well it also buff at x3
Desperate measures is fab for pve like when are you not getting an ability kill and once it's up you can refresh it on kills its pretty much a better rampage but with an extra step
I learned I CLEARLY didn't make enough room in my vault for this many great choices.
I got the Shiny Godroll with Firefly/Explosive Payload + Kinetic Tremors/Frenzy. Its a beast.
When I got firefly and kinetic tremors I wanted to try and see if lucky pants works with kinetic tremors. And I think it the kinetic tremors does more damage when using lucky pants. I think it’s really awesome
I would just like to say that the first onslaught run on tuesday i got a shiny midnight coup with firefly/attrition orbs and one for all/desperate measures. I haven't taken it off since lmao
