I agree with you 100%. I always say SU problem was their tubas dont hold the foundation of the band like JSU or TnSU does but as far as the rest of the wind section goes there are only few that hold up with them, not to mention their arrangements alone can kill a band by itself
You can expect a cleaner JSU. Might not be what younger folks are use to, but the return of the real BOOM is on the way so either you'll like it or you won't.

JSU does not have a "new" band director. D. Taylor is back as band director at JSU. He is a former Sonic Boom member and past director from one of the most stellar periods for the Boom. No t only does he know Jackson St and The Boom, but he knows the SWAC very well. Not at all is he their "new" director!

JSU's sound isnt FULL. the Juke's sound is FULL. JSU's bones try and play OVER the band. SU's bones play WITH the band. all JSU baritones do is play 4 high notes. SU's baritones have more intricate parts. JSU's trumpets are deep but still arent carrying across the field. SU's carry while balancing with the lower brass. It's details like these that set the Juke apart from others.
Thats why I like it when they play in Jackson cuz the recording is always in the middle of the field, plus JSU doesnt have to be cramped up together like they do when they play in SU territory. With that being said I dont think JSU has the same power that they use to so I cant way that they won this one

The football game was intense all the way down to LITERALLY the very last seconds and the band competition was heated and intense because of the Boom blowing "Power" and humiliating the Jukebox at that botb in Jackson. We also witnessed that SU band director lose his temper (which has never happened in this rivalry). Dude was eating JSU pom poms and cursing leaving the stadium. 2010 was EPIC and will go down in HBCU band/football history. Don't be mad because yall lost in every aspect.
it wont be many times i will do this but jsu is a sound band. they have great song selection choice and a full sound and they are very good make no mistakes about it and very loud thay arent to be toyed with. but as a former juke of coarse we better
from about 16:33 til the end of southern song there the baritones develop mello tendencies cuz uh the lower brass became tuba and trombones at that point btones took that bad boy up

SU is a powerful band in musicality, if you will, and volumn. I love that band. They're the best to me, against anybody.
