  • Wheat Harvest 2020 near Alva Oklahoma
My first 2020 wheat harvest video as my daughter and I traveled down to the Alva Oklahoma area. In this video we are visiting a family farm south of Alva as they harvest there 2020 wheat crop with a Case IH 8250 combine with a MacDon FD140 draper head, a John Deere 9770 STS combine with a 936D draper head and a John. Deere 9650 combine with a 30 foot grain head. Also in the video is the farms John Deere 4955 tractor pulling a Brent 782 grain cart. Lots of good views and stay tuned for more 2020 wheat harvest videos from this area.
Thanks for watching and being a subscriber to my UA-cam Channel. Feel free to comment on this video and you can also follow me on Instagram and Twitter @farmhandmike

Great video! At about 17:00 and following - great memories of 60 years ago, ... sun setting, winds have died, and the dust from the combine just hangs. The dust from one round remains, until coming around again. Just as in this video, it does not even settle to the ground quickly, it just hangs. Great content!

There is nothing better than the sounds of the harvest in the evening or night, you go out in front of the house and you hear the steady roaring of combines coming from all over the area and this smell of fresh cutted straw mixed with diesel exhaust`s...
Harvest in the evening in Poland :D

My first drive of a combine was my dads brand new international self propelled 711 when I was about 10 years of age. That was a huge machine at the time. I think it harvested 10t/hr of wheat. Now look where the human mind has taken us.

I worked for a guy out of Dacoma, OK. Which is about 8 miles south west of there. That was 1982. We ran IH 1480s with 24' rigid header. What a fun summer that was. Chasing wheat from Texas to Montana.

Good to wake up to this. The air must have stayed dry there in the evening to let them continue harvesting? We're about 2-3 weeks out from wheat harvest here in northeast Ohio. Then double crop soybeans. Thanks Mike and look forward to more videos.👍👍

Natural gas prices have plunged to 20 year lows this week because of an oddly cool start to this Month June, 2020. Good news if you're running heavy equipment! Of course better news if you're an oil refinery as well as I hear they have a few out that way.

I have seen that quiet a few places in the world that run continuous winter wheat almost none of them cover crop or interseed at all. In places like Oklahoma especially where they graze alot of cattle, cow peas would be fantastic and do wonders for water infiltration and nitrogen cycling

Great video Mike!! Man I sure miss seeing these machines run in western Ohio and central Iowa buddy, it’s in my blood and will never leave!!!!
Are these guys not concerned about being able to capture the straw for a second crop Mike or is it more beneficial to disc it back into the soil or let it set and rot till fall?
Thanks Mike, I’ve been away from the big game now for awhile and it seems like it’s changed some over the years and was just curious. The smaller farmers around me in NC now (100-500 acres) who only have small plots of wheat of less than 50 acres or so still grab that straw and bale it for another income source but I imagine that’s much different than what these guys are doing.
Watching the combine pass in front of that Oklahoma sunset with the chaff blowing is one of the most beautiful sights to me so thank you very much for bringing that to me Mike, I miss seeing it on this scale so much! It’s so much different than cutting a 29 acre field!
Take care mike and you and your daughter be safe out there buddy!

We're in southeasten Colorado and the wheat is getting close it looks like. we haven't heard of any people harvesting in our area just wondering if you knew how far north in Oklahoma they're getting. We harvest about 4000 acres of dry land wheat a year with two s670 combines. Great video btw!

from an old-timer here that swathed oats in MN with an Owatonna machine in the '60s in the days before cab luxuries -- my question is have combine headers gone to disc cutting as most hay machines have or are they still sickle bars ?

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  4 роки тому +3

Nope they are doing that on purpose. When running multiple combines in wheat they will cut the corner and leave some wheat and the last combine through cleans up the corners. This way the they are not holding each other up squaring off each corner.

    • @craigpetty3335
