    I am I West Tennessee and we use a 1660 combine for our corn 🌽 and we also use a 3300 John Deere combin for our beans. We are just small family farm, some would call us hobby farmers but we are still doing it.
    Love watching the big tractor power videos.

    Corn harvest is always so fun to watch. I can't get over each year how they harvest corn that is still so green looking compared to up here where it is completely brown when they take it off in late Oct to mid Nov.

    We actually started corn yesterday here in southern Michigan. We planted corn early for our area starting april 12th when normally we dont start corn until may . Our 102 day corn is testing 22 percent moisture at 180 to 200 bushels . We planted alot of 102 day corn this spring . For us it was great to plant early and harvest early even though it is wet because we can dry it faster when its 80 degrees out instead of 35 or 40 degrees out . now we can do tillage and then plant more winter wheat. We normally dont start corn until oct 20th but this year we might be done by then . Our soybeans are about 2 weeks away as well . We have 2000 acres of corn and 5000 acres of soybeans including double crops which aren't that far off as well because they are setting pods already. We are the second farm to start this early and alot of the neighbors are driving by slowly with shook and awe .great video keep up the good work and stay safe !

      Wheat planting is the objective here as well corn harvest starts in mid August here. I had to film the Half Century of Progress Show and Farm Progress Show. And get some of those videos out so I am just getting back to the seasonal videos. Wheat seeding will start October 10 after the fly threat is gone. All the wheat acres are double cropped into beans behind the combines.

    Awesome BTP,,,, came from a "red" family farm,,,, hehe... We did go New Holland in 77 for the first rotor combines, they were a game changer for sure.... but by the early 80's back to IH rotors, dealer relation and what not etc... These new combines are just ridiculous,,, how many trucks does it take to get this amount of grain from the field,,, just inconceivable from when I was farming ...

      I am not sure. They do it each time so they must have a reason. Best guess to turn around and drive back behind the other combine as the grain cart pulls in.

      That is an odd move, since that notch was soon obliterated by the rear combine. It was never used by the cart tractor or anything like that. Maybe it’s just an incredibly visible marker, like “hey, switch lanes and take the lead HERE.” Dunno.

    Can the grain be unloaded with the auger in the stowed position, or, only swung out at 90 degrees?

    That must be high moisture corn with all the green in the field.i think around high20 percent moisture

      It’s right at 20% It is 90 degrees out so the drier gets the moisture down fast. The leaves stay green because there is no frost and fungicide applied in July keeps the leaves strong longer.

    Looks so efficient, hope these farmers can make up for Millennial Farmer's (West-Central Minnesota) losses?

      It’s always a shame to see other regions suffer with drought. This year corn may be a record. I am seeing 250-260 in most fields. In 2012 this area of Kentucky saw 17 bu corn from a drought. Weather is always one turn away from success and disaster.

    When a farm buys equipment like this I imagine the note is no longer than 4 year right? Do equipment dealers allow for longer loan periods?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  3 роки тому

      I do not know. Farms in my area typically keep combines 1,2 or three seasons and then trade. They cover wheat, corn and soybeans each year and rack up the hours.

      @@bigtractorpower I wouldn’t imagine they’d pay one off if they would just trade it in that fast. So I guess they probably just make constant payments almost like leasing one.
