I actually relate a lot to Maria! 😂 Plus, growing up as a Latina actress, she was the first character I ever saw in musical theatre that shared my background!
Omg I now remember who you are! I saw you as rapunzel! (I think it was at the cupcake theater ?) You blew me away! You were by far the performer who stood out and impressed me!
Omg, wait, you played Yente? That's totally a dream role for me, and it's weird, because I'm a guy, but I have a gossipy Jewish grandmother who's kind of a pain in the butt, but still lovable, who I based a character voice on. I played the Rabbi when I was a little kid, but I'm dying to play Yente at some point in my career

M Brown be silly. Loose your self. Immerse your self. Also Olaf is very funny, so read his jokes so many times you don’t find them funny anymore. He doesn’t really laugh at his own jokes. Unless of course you decide to bring that into the character. Good luck!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Ok here's what I know about him from playing him. Always be happy never break a smile except for when his friends are hurt or something, but he still believes everything is gonna be ok. But literally stay smiling till you exit. Also he doesn't about personal space. Hug Kristoff, kiss Sven, whatever.

When I got cast as Jacks Mother I’m into the woods, I cried for moths, even after show closing, because her description was “homely”....I’m not dumb. That means ugly. It CUT. DEEP.
i played the giant’s wife in into the woods and it was equally ironic bc i’m 4’11 and was probably shorter at the time. i was just a voiceover offstage though
1- I played half of Molly in Annie. I was one of the tallest kids in middle school playing the youngest character. 2: Princess Fiona in Shrek. Being able to play a female lead and a princess gave me lots of confidence, even though it was a middle school show. 3: Berthe in Pippin. My mom especially! 4: Berthe in Pippin- "No Time At All" is very good for confidence. 5: Literally why did I get cast as Molly in Annie? 6: Berthe in Pippin! I think I could do a lot better and it was a fun role! 7: Princess Fiona. Doing those high notes as an alto who at the time didn't know what chest voice was.. Yikes 8: Cook in Clue. A angry woman who never smiled is how I played her. 9: Berthe from Pippin with singing, lines id need a refresher. 10&11: tie between Fiona in Shrek and bird girl in seussical. So fun and costumes were iconic. 12: Lisa in an Fringe show, Damn Kids These Days. First musical, gave me tons of confidence! 13: Bird Girl in Seussical. Role that made you feel like a star: Phillip in The Masked Musketeer (just because I loved playing this role) 5. Role I was Wrong For: Guard #1 in Fractured: A Fairy-Tale Parody (I auditioned for another role and this wasn't one of my favorite roles to play) 6. Role that you want to play again: Sandrine in Almost Maine (loved the scene that this part was in) 7. Role that scared me the most: Dab-Dab the Duck in Doctor Dolittle (my first role with more than 5 lines) 8. I’ve played mostly ensemble roles so let’s see how this goes… 1. Lee (Madagascar) (my family just loves pointing out that I was a lemur and I was in like third grade but whatever) 2. N/A (I’m like fourteen I don’t ever feel like that lol) 3. Ensemble (School of Rock) (my entire family adored that show) 4. Anastasia (Cinderella) (favorite role I’ve ever done! i actually have a chance to do it again here soon!) 7. Ensemble (School of Rock) (Even though I was only ensemble this show was insane and ) 8. Anastasia (Cinderella) (I’ve got zero self confidence and I don’t think I’d ever act like that, really fun role though!) 9. Ensemble (Frozen) (I loved this show so much and I knew everything like the back of my hand) 10. Ensemble (School of Rock) (my favorite show ever, I just had so so much fun ahhh) 11. Ensemble (Moana) (the costume designers knocked it out of the park with this show and I’m actually still performing it right now, such great costumes!) 12. Wickersham Brother (my first time ever getting miced, I felt so cool to finally be something other than ensemble) 13. Ensemble (Descendants) (despite descendants being an ehhh franchise we had a really good show and I wish people other than like eight year olds could have came and seen it) 14. Ensemble (School of Rock) (I was in fifth grade at the time with a music obsession and felt as though my parents didn’t understand me. Being in this show taught me a lot and really spoke to me.)

Totally did not know you did crucible!! I played Mercy and it was also my professional debut! The show is intense and scary (especially the bird scene, in our production we faced the audience the entire act only turning around to scream our lungs out once and then run down the aisle) but its soooo rewarding. Would probably do it again! My favorite role I ever played was Shirley from 5th of July and I would play her 1000 times over!
My answers 1. Coach Harley Hopper - Teen Court (being eighteen when I was cast and nineteen opening night, I’ll never live down playing a middle aged football coach) 2. Customer - Radium Girls (I had a coat that made me feel hot) 3. Coach Harley Hopper - Teen Court (they thought it was funny seeing little teenage me playing a grown man) 4. Sherry - Our Place (it wasn’t my biggest role, but the audience’s reactions made me feel like a star. They laughed at all my jokes and I got a loud round of applause at curtain call) 5. Coach Harley Hopper - Teen Court (I was given this role because they didn’t hav enough guys, and I accepted because it was my last high school show. I’m happy I took it) 6. Townsperson and summer ensemble - frozen jr. (I made a lot of bad choices. I’d love to do that show again but right) 7 & 8. My main man, Harley hopper (it was something I had never done before, and, to not sound repetitive, see number one) 9. Sherry - our place (this was my second most recent show, not counting the one I’m in, and I still remember most of if not all my lines) 10. Sherry - Our Place (it was my first comedic relief role. I had fun jumping around set and pretending to be a nine year old child) 11. Lady in Waiting - once upon a mattress jr. (I loved it. It was a white under dress with a dark purple apron thing over it) 12. I guess offstage choir in Oliver is the one that fits the best? It’s what got me into theatre 13. Laverne - bye bye birdie (my current show. It’s the first time I’ve got to play my age range so…)
This was so cool!!! I would play this game too expect I’ve barely been in any musicals lol. Side note: any tips on auditioning for Suessical(I’m gonna sing The Wizard and I from Wicked and I only get 16 bars)
Lucy Lindberg I wanted to do Popular but one of my friends is using that to audition so I can't use that. I was thinking I could do The Wizard and I. What do you think of that?? If not I don't really know what song to do.
@@conniebuhl2435 Do you know any other musicals that have songs closer to Popular? The Wizard and I is a great song, but it doesn't really fit the tone of the musical.
1. Hermione in Harry Potter. [My school once wrote a Harry Potter play and I highkey love Emma Watson so saying I was this character makes me feel like a washed down version which is still great cause any version of Emma is a confidence booster.] 2. Ensemble in Grease. [Considering the show deals with teenaged pregnancy and the ending song is You're The One That I want, it already is a "raunchy" show. Also my background for my ensemble character was a closeted lesbian and so was my best friend's, who was my dance partner, so we both played a couple. I'm gay, she's bi, we've known each other since we were five, it was great.] 3. Angel in The Nutcracker. [This was a ballet I did when I was in first grade and my family still talks about how I was one of the children angels that welcomed Clara into the world. My mom did my hair and makeup for this show so she definitely had a blast during this time.] 4. Aunt Sponge in James and the Giant Peach. [This was probably my biggest role I got to do, which was even more fun cause I got to fight and push my other best friend around who was Aunt Spiker.] 5. Draco in Harry Potter. [For act one I played Draco and in act two I played Hermione. I'm not a dude so yeah.] 6. Any of them really. I refuse to choose my babies. 7. Old Crone in The Miracle Worker. [It was my first play in high school where they take things much more seriously (my director is lovely but scary) and I had to do an old-lady-witch voice and I suck at accents.] 8. Aunt Sponge. 9. Auntie Em in The Wizard of Oz. 10. Marvalyn in Almost, Maine. [It was my first dream role I ever got to play so yeah lol.] 11. Ensemble in Cinderella. [My ball dress was so beautiful.] 12. Martha in The Miracle Worker. [I was triple casted for this show and Martha was one of Helen Keller's friends. It was the role when I fell in love with acting.] 13. Ghost in Our Town. [I blinked very little and had to sit frozen for like 15 minutes straight.] 14. Marvalyn in Almost, Maine.
hi!! i want to say that i love your videos so so much!! i was wondering how do you pick an audition song if you aren’t auditioning for a show but for a company? and there isn’t any requirements
That random person LOL i don't know is kat has auditioned for it but in an earlier video she has said that making it to Broadway it not a goal for her :)
You've had so many roles under ur belt! I'm impressed!!! If u ever do a show on Broadway, u gotta let us know! I'm sure a lot of ur fans would flock to see u
1. Role I’ll never live down: “Hud” in Hair...as a white man...we cut “Colored Spade” and most of his lines, but I was given his solo in “Ain’t Got No” and most of his lines that weren’t so...racially specific. We had NO diversity, so they worked with what they had. I was happy to have more to do, but I felt so miscast the entire time. 2. Role I felt sexiest in: Stewpot in South Pacific. 3. Role family loves most: Dr. Einstein in Arsenic and Old Lace. 4. Role that made me feel like a star: Pharaoh in Joseph. 5. Role I was wrong for: Sundeep Padamadan in Legally Blonde.... 6. Role that I want to play again: Orin Scrivello, DDS in Little Shop of Horrors. 7. Role that scared me the most: Doctor in A New Brain. 8. Role that is most like me: Karl in Big Fish (a gentle giant).
I’ve never done musical theater so like I can’t play along, but I sure would love more videos about your “relationship” with the characters you played! Like what you learned, what is something that stuck with you (positive or negative)! Lovely video as always, much love ❤️

Eva Helfter I mean every show I’ve been to the ensemble has awesome voices and dance moves ensemble makes the whole show
Eva Helfter sane gurl haha

Katherine Steele I’m you’re biggest fan I’m in a production of frozen jr as Olaf. any advice?
Omg I just played Olaf!
M Brown be silly. Loose your self. Immerse your self. Also Olaf is very funny, so read his jokes so many times you don’t find them funny anymore. He doesn’t really laugh at his own jokes. Unless of course you decide to bring that into the character. Good luck!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I'm auditioning for anna in three days! I don't really have any advice other than try to really feel your character
Ok here's what I know about him from playing him. Always be happy never break a smile except for when his friends are hurt or something, but he still believes everything is gonna be ok. But literally stay smiling till you exit. Also he doesn't about personal space. Hug Kristoff, kiss Sven, whatever.

“Good Morning, Miss Steele!” Katherine is such an icon!!! 😍
i played the giant’s wife in into the woods and it was equally ironic bc i’m 4’11 and was probably shorter at the time. i was just a voiceover offstage though
I've been Princess Fiona in our middle school production of Shrek the Musical Jr. and I just did Babette in Beauty and the Beast this year!
Yikes
8: Cook in Clue.

6. Role that you want to play again: Sandrine in Almost Maine (loved the scene that this part was in)
7. Role that scared me the most: Dab-Dab the Duck in Doctor Dolittle (my first role with more than 5 lines)
8. Role that was most unlike me
: Ann in A Christmas Carol (she very flirty and I'm not a flirtatious person)

Chanting Hooded Monk, The Queen and The Nun's Priest in The Canterbury Tales or Geoffrey Chaucer Flying Circus (I wore a black cloak with a hood and a purple dress with a crown)
12. Role that changed me the most:

I’ve played mostly ensemble roles so let’s see how this goes…
1. Lee (Madagascar) (my family just loves pointing out that I was a lemur and I was in like third grade but whatever)
2. N/A (I’m like fourteen I don’t ever feel like that lol)
3. Ensemble (School of Rock) (my entire family adored that show)
4. Ensemble (A Christmas Carol) (very professional show that made me feel really cool)
5. Wickersham Brother (Seussical) (Wrong gender, wrong attitude, pretty much wrong everything)
6. Anastasia (Cinderella) (favorite role I’ve ever done! i actually have a chance to do it again here soon!)
7. Ensemble (School of Rock) (Even though I was only ensemble this show was insane and )
8. Anastasia (Cinderella) (I’ve got zero self confidence and I don’t think I’d ever act like that, really fun role though!)
9. Ensemble (Frozen) (I loved this show so much and I knew everything like the back of my hand)
10. Ensemble (School of Rock) (my favorite show ever, I just had so so much fun ahhh)
11. Ensemble (Moana) (the costume designers knocked it out of the park with this show and I’m actually still performing it right now, such great costumes!)
12. Wickersham Brother (my first time ever getting miced, I felt so cool to finally be something other than ensemble)
13. Ensemble (Descendants) (despite descendants being an ehhh franchise we had a really good show and I wish people other than like eight year olds could have came and seen it)
14. Ensemble (School of Rock) (I was in fifth grade at the time with a music obsession and felt as though my parents didn’t understand me. Being in this show taught me a lot and really spoke to me.)

Role most like me: Penny :)
I loved my nun costume from Sister Act too!!
I played Margot and Penny is my dream role!!!
I'm so ready for this
Ahh Kat I can't get over how amazing your makeup always is...you look fabulous, as always.
“I’m sweaty wanna be friends?” Made me laugh so hard
My answers
1. Coach Harley Hopper - Teen Court (being eighteen when I was cast and nineteen opening night, I’ll never live down playing a middle aged football coach)
2. Customer - Radium Girls (I had a coat that made me feel hot)
3. Coach Harley Hopper - Teen Court (they thought it was funny seeing little teenage me playing a grown man)
4. Sherry - Our Place (it wasn’t my biggest role, but the audience’s reactions made me feel like a star. They laughed at all my jokes and I got a loud round of applause at curtain call)
5. Coach Harley Hopper - Teen Court (I was given this role because they didn’t hav enough guys, and I accepted because it was my last high school show. I’m happy I took it)
6. Townsperson and summer ensemble - frozen jr. (I made a lot of bad choices. I’d love to do that show again but right)
7 & 8. My main man, Harley hopper (it was something I had never done before, and, to not sound repetitive, see number one)
9. Sherry - our place (this was my second most recent show, not counting the one I’m in, and I still remember most of if not all my lines)
10. Sherry - Our Place (it was my first comedic relief role. I had fun jumping around set and pretending to be a nine year old child)
11. Lady in Waiting - once upon a mattress jr. (I loved it. It was a white under dress with a dark purple apron thing over it)
12. I guess offstage choir in Oliver is the one that fits the best? It’s what got me into theatre
Be funny with your sussical audition !!! Pick a up beat audition song
Moo Soup not really no but my audition is tonight sobI don’t really have time to change my song.
Steele, you are a wonderful person and I can’t thank you enough for the amazing theatre videos every theatre kid and theatre adult- lol, loves. Xxx
I WAS SO HOPING YOU WOULD DO THIS! I love the Role Call series on Broadway.com
1. Hermione in Harry Potter. [My school once wrote a Harry Potter play and I highkey love Emma Watson so saying I was this character makes me feel like a washed down version which is still great cause any version of Emma is a confidence booster.]
2. I'm gay, she's bi, we've known each other since we were five, it was great.]
3. Angel in The Nutcracker. [This was a ballet I did when I was in first grade and my family still talks about how I was one of the children angels that welcomed Clara into the world. My mom did my hair and makeup for this show so she definitely had a blast during this time.]
4. Aunt Sponge in James and the Giant Peach. [This was probably my biggest role I got to do, which was even more fun cause I got to fight and push my other best friend around who was Aunt Spiker.]
5. Draco in Harry Potter. [For act one I played Draco and in act two I played Hermione. I'm not a dude so yeah.]
6. Any of them really. I refuse to choose my babies.
7. Old Crone in The Miracle Worker. [It was my first play in high school where they take things much more seriously (my director is lovely but scary) and I had to do an old-lady-witch voice and I suck at accents.]
8. Aunt Sponge.
9. Auntie Em in The Wizard of Oz.
10. Marvalyn in Almost, Maine. [It was my first dream role I ever got to play so yeah lol.]
11. Ensemble in Cinderella. [My ball dress was so beautiful.]
12. Martha in The Miracle Worker. [I was triple casted for this show and Martha was one of Helen Keller's friends. It was the role when I fell in love with acting.]
13. Ghost in Our Town. [I blinked very little and had to sit frozen for like 15 minutes straight.]
14. Marvalyn in Almost, Maine.
Kath I love you so much!!! 💞💞💞
"Your never going to see me in an audition and be like 'She's a dancer! A dancer dances!'" Me neither Kat, me neither.
The real question: where can we watch “Scarlett” 😂
I didn’t know how much I needed to see this 😍🤩
hi!! i want to say that i love your videos so so much!! i was wondering how do you pick an audition song if you aren’t auditioning for a show but for a company? and there isn’t any requirements
I would probably recommend leaning into your strengths & casting type!! Show off your absolute best stuff
Thanks for inspiring me to do this tag myself! It was a blast -- but definitely difficult making sure I didn't use a role too soon!
Kat I ❤️ your channel. This is a question you probably get asked often but have you ever auditioned for broadway and if you haven’t do you want to?
That random person LOL i don't know is kat has auditioned for it but in an earlier video she has said that making it to Broadway it not a goal for her :)

1. Role I’ll never live down: “Hud” in Hair...as a white man...we cut “Colored Spade” and most of his lines, but I was given his solo in “Ain’t Got No” and most of his lines that weren’t so...racially specific. 3. Nancy in Oliver
4. Elle Woods in Legally Blonde - Doing so much better with a full awesome ensemble behind me made me feel like a rockstar.
5. Tallulah in Bugsy Malone - it really wasn't a good fit for me as a person way too far out of my casting type and I felt uncomfortable the whole time.
6. Veronica Sawyer - Nancy In Oliver - Wednesday Addams (need I say more)
7. Elle Woods in Legally Blonde - this was so out of my comfort zone it was insane.
8. Elle Woods in Legally Blonde
