We bought Qualis in 2004 end, just before its discontinuation. At that time Innova already launched and no one was really looking at it as Qualis was already famous and achieved trust. It was only after Qualis phaseout, Innova got picked up. The reason for success is sturdy, reliable, smooth engine. Toyota always respect customer feedback and takes it seriously while many other competitors still to achieve that standard. Even after 18 years, Qualis is still serving as one of our family car !
I like toyota but in India they are not launching any real toyota's so thats dissappointing
my wife's auncle has a Qualis, it has travelled 6lakh km on mostly poor roads. Everything is perfectly working still only the looks are outdated.

@vedanthhonavarkar2256 I guess thats because that's what the market has made them do. They launched great cars now and then but people bought the less desirable ones. Specific tax regime like 1.2 litre above engines are taxed heavily. 4m above cars are taxed heavily and high gc cars as well. Toyota and other brands wont even bother making such small engines just for a market that doesn't exist. Even in europe the tax advantage is given till 1.6 litres. If that was the case in india we would have had the desirable cars like swift sport and the gr yaris and corrolla etc. But no we need to pay taxes for the taxes that we are already paying. So thats what will sell here. Pretty good for the money. Calling them shitty wont change anything. The competition is just not good enough to be considered

The thing is, I was once travelling once from Shimla to Manali. I was in a 9yo Innova(taxi), it seemed like a good car as most of the roads were basically hilly roads and it was doing good speeds easily.
Until I saw it's speedometer, that Innova
(Hold ur breath) had done like 7.5 lakhs km without any engine change, as soon as I saw that my mind was blowned away of how can a car be so reliable..

but seriously 5-6 lakhs km for innovas, and actually any toyota is just a walk in the park, and the hilux/fortuner platform makes it perfect for older road conditions as well as the mountain roads, and the rwd makes it perfect for climbs

Hexa was a great car, people only didn't buy it because TATA didn't had a good image for its reliability and as a brand itself.
Even today that car looks modern enough and i bet that the company will have alot better sales today (if comes with new generation) than it used to be before.

We were with 2 cars Scorpio and Innova.
I was in Scorpio after some km my stomach start to ache and I felt like journey sickness worst experience ever.
after sometime we stopped for break and I switched to Innova

I've a xuv 500, 2019 diesel model, the range is 2.3 lac km and still moving like a newly bought car. At the time when I was planning to buy, innova was one of the options but the price was too high and I just wanted some long range car, and XUV 500 topped the list.
There're many cheaper options like xuv are available, go for them, they'll give you same reliability as innova. But I would suggest you not to buy diesel variants of any car as diesel cars may be banned in NCR and other major cities in next 2 years.

Ive owned Nissan Evalia and it was a Gem of a vehicle. Pure Japanese reliability of Toyota and Affordability of Suzuki

In North America, Toyota and Honda have their big family vans named Sienna and Odyssey, the top most selling products. In competition they have, Chrysler Pacifica, Town and Country, Kia Sedona (Carnival in India), Nissan Quest, Dodge Grand Caravan, Mercedes Sprinter. The price range is from $ 60,000- 100,000. Super practical vehicles with smooth ride and space.
In North America most of the mainstream companies have their luxury/premium version like
Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infinity, Hyundai/Kia/ Genesis, Ford/Lincoln. Apart from these many other American brands like Chevrolet, Dodge,Cadilliac, Chrysler, GMC doing good.
Lastly German Trios dominate the luxury market. Mercedes/ BMW/Audi.

Hexa got discontinued due to bs6 norms and extra investment to upgrade varicor to bs6 or develop a brand new bs6 compliant diesel engine didn't had a strong business case. Also tata wouldn't want something in its portfolio to eat safari's share. Marazzo failed because its boring uninspiring design (so is innova but it has a cult following due to reliability and comfort). it is priced same as scorpio which also has its cult following. Mahindra should relaunch marazzo with exciting design, at a much lower price to compete with ertiga
It could have given the engine which is being used in current safari and harrier
TATA Hexa was also Very best car. Off-road Character with LUXURY.
I once rented a self-drive Innova Crysta for a day trip with family. The 2.4 Diesel was a delight to drive even with six people and luggage on board.
We have a 2014 Innova and my dad prefers it more than the mercedes GLS 600D,He does not like the bulky crysta,and will never sell his car
Hexa and Marazzo both are underrated, these both offer great space in 3rd row.
Never got a chance to sit in Hexa, but Marazzo's 3rd row isn't spacious as Innova
Once you enjoy that comfort ride in Innova, no other car in the segment compensates for it. Be it AC, space, the suspension set-up ! Only thing I don't like is the engine noise.

Check the indian salaries at that time! In 2005, for 10₹ you used to get full Kurkure packet, and even the word lakh was considered as a hefty and out-of-reach amount
I think, after its launch in 2005, no car has carried more Indians across India than the Innova. We have a 2007 first gen model that we use in and around our farmhouse which has run 1.4 lakh km and it’s still running strong. No issues, no problems. It can seat 7 people and if needed can also carry a ton of stuff. Legend of Indian automotive industry.
Used to own a qualis 2004 model never experienced engine issues and reliability issues sold it recently and brought a Scorpio crde 4x4 qualis was way better in comfort and realiblity ❤

Bhai, mahindra scorpio was launched in year 2002 and Chevrolet Tavera in the year 2004.
The problem with Indian customers is that we never appreciate the good cars, we just regret when they're gone. We have many examples like Hexa, Safari(real), Alturas G4 soon, and Ford Endeavour. This isn't gonna change unless we as buyers change our mindset.
Right, then the same people are crying "why the brand left India", "why the car was discontinued", "underrated car"
And you are right about Alturas, people will start complaining how Mahindra made a luxury car and people never bought it.
