I finally got over the pockets thing, but I always avoid walking on grass, with out thinking about it. I even catch myself looking at grass walker like "Who the fuck do they think they are".

I still take my hat off when indoors, and glare at others who keep it on, and always feel naked going outside with no headgear. And the hands in pocket thing too. Been out a year. Going back in today. Reporting for the first time again in about 3 hours.

Out for 11 now but I still remember ETS +1: a Tuesday. Woke up at 0430 because brain said so. Went back to sleep anyway until 0700. Got up, walked down to the corner in civvy sweats to get a paper. Came home, made coffee, toast, steak & eggs, and took 2 full hours to eat breakfast while reading the paper. Felt like I was doing something wrong the whole time.

I lost it when it got to the walking on the grass part. I couldn't walk on grass for years after I got out. In fact, I even held that standard to my kids. They were always baffled when I told them to stay off the grass when we were Trick or Treating. I finally released my phobia when I bought my first house.

It took a while for me to undo the brainwashing. I didn't care about what I wore, and I said "yes, ma'am," "no sir" for six months. It was very strange to me. The adjustment period did not go well. I have dreams about the army where I sneak into basic training and start over as a truck driver. I am never allowed to go back into the military. I'm broke folk.

I'm ten years in, but I'm already worried about that first day as a civilian. Ten more years, or 15 or 20... They're going to have to drag me out in cuffs. The idea of having a civilian boss scares the hell out of me.

I hear ya, I went to college and did the civilian schtick. I plan to go into the Air Force next year. I'm planning on being a lifer, but having a backup just in case. You can do it, cuz civilian life is overrated in many ways.

So weird to watch because I watched a Drip46 video where he talked about what he's doing after the Army and he used the same music. After this video, I now imediately associate this music with leaving the Army lol.
