I just bought my MX8 Elite this weekend coming from a Kreepy Krauly. My question is can I connect it to the piece above the basket in my skimmer that i used to connect my Kreepy Krauly hose to?? Round basket lid with the 4 adjustable air tabs?? Hope you know the piece i mean.
I've watched a lot of your great videos as I need a new pool cleaner. We have an 18000 gallon in ground pool, 36' x 20' with a bowl shaped 7' deep end, and it's tiled. We are in the UK. Looking at Zodiac MX8 elite, Pentair Blue Rebel, Zodiac T5, Kreepy Krauly Sand Shark (can't see if this is OK for tiled pool). Would be grateful for your advice. Thanks!
Question please...how often and for how long must I run this and does it have to be rinsed with soft water after each use to avoid corrosion from the salt in the pool.

I'm with Scot on this one. I have so much trouble with this Zodiac as I switched from my Polaris cause wheels stopped turning. The Zodiac is a stop and go and no go most times. I have turned and switched the pump levels on and off to get it going. I don't have the vac lock so I'm ordering it for the inside of the pool. The part going into the filter is the iffy one - I just want to send it back cause it's taking 5 days almost to clean the pool. Hate it.
my MX6 has been working reliably for about 2 years. But I have now replaced the rubber bands and the "differential". I have now come across the information that the number of revolutions at 10 revolutions should be 20 to 25 seconds. What happens to my robot if it has 15 revolutions at 22 seconds instead of 10? So about 50% more. What could happen?
I am currently installing my MX6 and using the skimmer, but the white cone for the skimmer is hard to put into the hole. What can I do, I left the cone sitting in the sun to see if it would be more pliable but that did not work. Tried screwing rotations and nothing.
I have a variable speed pump. Would it be better to open the suction valve fully open and adjust the RPMs on the pump to get the right the 20 to 25 rotations in 10 seconds? The reason I am saying that is that if I tried to get the 20 to 25 rotations by adjusting the suction valve then someone else than me might at some point open it fully and damage the MX8.
I like your videos very much. I am buying a generic Kreepy and have a question. I have an IGP with 2 skimmers and a threaded drain (not sure it is a drain). This is located on the pool wall at the end of an oval pool about a foot below skimmer level. At the pump suction I have 3 valves and 3 lines that feed the pump. 2 are from the skimmers and 1 is from this drain, which I usually have closed. I only open it if I do not have enough water in the pool. Rare. My question, can I hook up the suction side vacuum to this line.? Would you close skimmer valves half way to get more suction to this line.? What would you do. My pool is 38K gallons with a DE 60 sq. ft Nautilus filter.
If it is on the side of the wall it could be a side port valve. But does there seem to be a valve for that line? From your description it doesn't seem so.
How do you open the port to stick the open end of the vacuum? Port is tightly closed. I don't know how to open. Do I turn the pool equipment off to get it to open? My port is the same as your preferred method. Thanks.

Algae, built in cleaners not working, pools not keeping chlorine, you name it. I'm finding it very difficult to learn because I was trained during the cold season and everything is different now. Also I have so many pools I don't know how I can even address all these problems without spending several hours at each pool. What do you recommend I do?
If there is a route manager he should hit a few of the worst ones for you to help get them under control. A Copper based algeacide like Swimtrine will help you also. Just dilute it in a bucket of water. You can buy it by the gallon. I prefer sodium bromide but it lowers the chlorine level & in your case that is already a problem. With Swim trine A little goes a long way. 30 min limit per pool. Do all you can in that time.

How do I install it into an older pool with a rectangular skimmer basket with a single hole underneath the basket that normally has this metal "key" in it to control suction between the skimmer and the bottom vent?
You will need a 4" female to female hose piece to put on top of that valve and then insert the Flow Valve into that. Pentair K21241B 4-Inch Blue Female/Female Hose Section
Our zodiac mx6 just recently broke. One of the tracks clicks and won’t rotate. I’ve cleaned it and took it completely apart and can’t find the issue. What do you recommend for a vacuum. I was looking at the mx8 but wasn’t sure if I should stay with zodiac. Don’t want to spend a lot but want a quality one so around $400 max
Everything that was in display, comes with it? Or do I have to purchase more of the parts? If so, where? This installation is a little confusing coming from a person who wants to learn. I rent my home and it has a pool the owners pool maintenance guy, well they only do the minimum, so you can say you get for what you pay for. So my next question is the pool I have is a vinyl pool 12 years old as I expect as told they the owner is this safe for it? Also, I have emailed you Regards to my last question and what should I do? Thanks
whats a way to prevent the pool hose from curling or looping? i got brand new hoses but sometimes it creates a loop in the middle, anyway to to prevent that?
Just picked up the mx8 elite. It won't climb the walls. The tires just spin. It's a pebble sheen finish and it starts to climb then just spins. Any suggestions. It's through a side port vacuum. I turned off main drains and skimmer 3/4 off.

I would like to say yes, but the geared type cleaners are not the best for your pool surface type. I would recommend the Zodiac G3, Zodiac Wahoo, IPP Voyager or the Pentair Kreepy Krauly.

this are good cleaners as long as you don't have any plants in your backyard, I would recommend a kreepy krauly canister as well.

Just leave it in the pool, no need to really take it out if you leave your pool open all season long. Run time varies by pool size.

I’m having the same stop-and-go problem. The only thing I haven’t tried is adjusting the length of the hose. Do you remember what you did?

It just wears out faster if you run it at a higher RPM

Mine is a 2 hole skimmer and I tried both.
It should fit in there but sometimes you have an odd skimmer where it won't go in correctly. There are some tricks.

You can't really damage it by running it at a high speed for a brief period of time. 2-3 minutes won't harm it at all.

Yes there is a valve at the pump suction for this line. 3 valves , 2 from skimmers and 1 from this line.
Then you would connect it at that line for best results.

Yes, you turn the pool off and use a flat head screwdriver to open the latch.

I would go for the Zodiac G3 - very safe for a vinyl pool.

You can leave it in 24/7. I was at the factory and they put the plastic in an oven to show me how strong it is. No worries. 👍

You can switch hose locations and rotate them to prevent this. Move the curved hose closer to the wall or cleaner.

How do you know where to set the float.
It comes factory set but if it is not the cleaner needs to set flush with pool bottom. I think 18 inches...
I have a variable speed pump. Can't set the wheel speed like you do.
Ramp up the RPM's - around 2400 to 2600 should be good to get it moving.

I use the intex auto vaccum it's only 60 bucks and does great for my above ground pool
How open do you leave vacuum line or skimmer line?
Depends on how fast the cleaner is moving. You want some suction going to the cleaner as well as the pool skimmer line
