This song was written during a lock down at Santana High School (santee,ca) for an active shooter situation. I was at that school that horrific day, standing right next to the bathroom where the shooter was. Frozen, couldn't move watching people getting shot. Thank god for a girl I didnt know grabbing me and pulling me into a classroom while we waited for swat to come get us. I didnt run, I just stood there frozen. This song helps me 18 years later get through tough times that NEVER go away.. no matter how much counseling ,years that pass, the memories and panic never go away. Love this song.
Charles Andrew Williams Jr huh. I’m extremely familiar with that shooting. I know it’s hard but I’m glad the song can help you with what you’re going through
Wanna give some extra backstory: This song was inspired by a real-life shooting. The band was recording a few blocks away from Santana High School when the shooting occurred there in 2001. They had seen the emergency vehicles driving past while on a break, but it hadn't clicked until they had seen it on the news. Great reaction, Rude!
I was 9 in 2001. When I first heard it in 2001 I thought he was referring to 9/11 because it came out around that time. Eventually I learned the real meaning. Ironically this album came out on 9/11

Man, I remember coming up in Junior High and Highschool ('77-'83). We NEVER heard or saw any firearms. Fists took care of business...maybe a knife or a 2 by 4...and that was RARE. Then, a decade later, kids were goin to school "strapped." Hell, we carried shotguns cased on the bus and to school and left em in our lockers because we'd go squirrel or rabbit hunting after being dismissed for the day. Whew...then the world went to waste. Kids usually haven't been "scared" enough with any "near-death" experiences to feel the "permanence" that death brings...in a lot of instances anyway. That's just my opinion though. At that age, we all think we're invincible. It's very much different nowadays. A lot of kids grow up with death all around them now...and that's a shame. We as parents, and elders, have failed our young ones in that area. We all should have done, or do, better.
Jeremy, by Pearl Jam also has a very similar feel to this one. Just as dark, if not darker. And that ones a real story. The Boy ended himself with the sound of a gat. Pretty much the same. Stand before his peers and blew his own brains out right in front of them instead of aiming at them.

This song is a representation of the lost youth, it's a representation to suburban and rural life as are certain rap songs a representation of urban life to a youth that grew up without strong figures in their homes. What we see today is the implosion of these overlooked issues as some have chosen to ignore and some have chosen to exploit with devisive games.
POD... Payable on Death. Christian metal/rock, nu-metal, possitve message band. Great music no matter which way you slice it. Great review. And yep, they made this about and after Columbine.
To me this is one the best songs ever written. It gives a sympathetic look into dark American kids lives can actually be, even when adults want to look away because they don’t care or they’re afraid of what it reflects on them. Growing in a good or bad background, it’s relatable because going to school, you’ve at least encountered similar situations or have heard of them. You may even know someone in those situations. Plus it removes the politics out the school shootings and looks at BOTH the shooter and the victim. I feel like we’re so desensitized now to them, they’re not nearly as shocking as columbine was (not trying to compare anything in terms of severity). I was born in 97, but from what I’ve looked up and from what people who remember it told me, it was especially unnerving to the American public that it was committed by 2 teenagers.
I remember the joy i got from a POD cd and my friends were impressed the way i snapped it in half, melted the edge and stuck it to my basement wall. It looked like someone threw it into the cinderblock.
I can tell you got good taste man. You are definitely woke when it comes to breaking down and understanding the meaning behind the music, the different factors that come into play. Every reactor that actually is attentive to the true beauty in the music are diamonds in the rough for real. You seem like a cool ass dude. I’m going to subscribe just to show some love. You earned it.
Schools really need a focus on mentoring. Kids know what their dreams are, but have absolutely zero idea of the path before them to get there. and teachers wont help them on the most part as it isn't part of the curriculum. Some succeed, most go the way side and despair because the dream is unobtainable. But if they had a mentor, someone who actually wants to help them and steer them on the correct path and show them the way, then these issues wouldn't exist and more lives would be happier. I didn't find my mentor until very late in my life. I learnt more in those few years and really excelled, than the two decades before that as I struggled through the beaucracy and mind games of a cut throat, back stabbing industry. now I have the power, and I happily take someone new every year to guide and mould to avoid all the pitfalls around them. everyone I mentor makes a name for themselves and uses their reputation to pay it forward.
This is one of my favorite songs because I was an outcast bullied freak when Columbine happened so I could of easily been a school shooter with the abuse I suffered
You should definitely react to the song ‘Pardon Me’ by Incubus. Really good song man definitely a worth listening to and would love to see what you think of it
It's interesting to me that you posted this on 9/11/19 because I remember as a kid going to see them on this tour right after 9/11 happened and me and my friends found it so weird to get screened with pat downs and metal detectors. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of my childhood and how tense everybody was right after 9/11 for some reason.
y Yes i agree, it's the almost same place I grew up, no matter I try to be invisible but heck yeah it's only one way out one way in in middle school, that's the time I learned to man at up

We as parents, and elders, have failed our young ones in that area. We all should have done, or do, better.
I am turning 45 on Jan. 11th but I will always stand up for the youth!!! This song is too damn good!!!
And also you got the song! There are many who hear it and it's just a song!
I love your husky :)!
Great song and great reaction! A lot of truth in this song!🤘🏼
Jeremy, by Pearl Jam also has a very similar feel to this one. Just as dark, if not darker. And that ones a real story. The Boy ended himself with the sound of a gat. Pretty much the same. Stand before his peers and blew his own brains out right in front of them instead of aiming at them.
I wouldn’t say it was darker. At this point I wish these kids would go back to just killing themselves than taking out as many as they can first.
I absolutely love this song ❤️. Thanks for reaching to it!!!!!!
I really like your analysis of these songs.
If y'all want a review to a song join the patreon. I did and it's the best money I ever spent online . Trust me ya won't be disappointed. He always deliver the goods lol!
How much is it cuz I want to but i got bills and a stomach ya know
This song is a representation of the lost youth, it's a representation to suburban and rural life as are certain rap songs a representation of urban life to a youth that grew up without strong figures in their homes.
What we see today is the implosion of these overlooked issues as some have chosen to ignore and some have chosen to exploit with devisive games.
Nice review young man. Keep up the great work!
POD... Payable on Death. Christian metal/rock, nu-metal, possitve message band. Great music no matter which way you slice it. Great review.
And yep, they made this about and after Columbine.
You got a new sub, dude. It’s cool hearing your insights on this.
i remember banging my head to the flow of this song!! once i leaned English it hit me really hard
You get a subscribe just for actually breaking down the lyrics and having an awesome dog!
Sounds about right
Great insight into this track. Respect.
I like the legitimate review of an older song. P.O.D. is an older band, the acronym stands for "Payable on Death". Great song and good reaction.
Good job little brother narrating the songs meaning. You have a new sub in me.
This song hits close to my heart. Pray pray pray
Thanks brother for doing this one. Hope you get a chance to listen to "Alive" off same album. Great review!
This type of music is called Nu Metal. Was very popular back in the late 90s, 00s. Bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, P.O.D
P.O.D - Satellite
That album was criminally underrated
P.O.D. "Going In Blind" is there most emotional song imo
These guys put on one hell of a show!
Youth of THE nation. Just saying, it’s right there on the cover
the music today is different than the old days,
old school 🤘
THANK GOD U GOT IT, MUCH LOV
You should watch the actual video released for this song.
Luv P.O.D.🤘 saw them a few years ago when they opened for ICP, they put on a hella good show.
You should definitely react to the song ‘Pardon Me’ by Incubus. Really good song man definitely a worth listening to and would love to see what you think of it
omg i loved this song growing up..
makes sense i listen to ghostemane and suicide boys now 💣
It's interesting to me that you posted this on 9/11/19 because I remember as a kid going to see them on this tour right after 9/11 happened and me and my friends found it so weird to get screened with pat downs and metal detectors. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of my childhood and how tense everybody was right after 9/11 for some reason.
Glad to see a Bruh, Enjoying heavy Metal Music. And true artist playing instruments and not some auto tune bullshit.
Yup auto tune is played out
y
Yes i agree, it's the almost same place I grew up, no matter I try to be invisible but heck yeah it's only one way out one way in in middle school, that's the time I learned to man at up
The genre is new metal. The band is the absolute best (IMO) Christian band to cross over into the mainstream. Great reaction. This is the first video I have seen on your channel. Just subbed.
#StayHomeStaySafe
#Leronlimab
This was a great reaction to a deep song. Respect to u my g
Astronomics
They have a lot of great songs. They are a Christian band. Their name means Payable On Death referring to Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. They are still touring. They have even played at Coachella.
Great reaction!! It's sad that a song almost 20 years old is still relevant today...it shows how good a song is I guess
Beautiful doggie, great song!
This song is basically a direct response to the "Santana High School" shooting that took place in San Diego in 2001
Well thought out, thank you.
Nu Metal has alot of rap, hip hop, heavy metal, grunge, alternative all into one!
Classic song. Good to see this young man isn't closed minded. Can't just stick to one genre.
Man the sad thing is this song is a decade plus old but things have not changed yet gotten worse for kids and what they go through.
