Not sure how I came upon your channel but it was so awesome to see you out the camera down, put your hand over your heart in respect for the national anthem …i hope you are doing well. Bless you
Excellent video. Helpful. My grandson arrives 1 week. First permanent base. I feel good about it now. He is airman first class. Now to see what a dorm looks like
I had to land my B52 in the UK coming from the States. The Tower asked if I had a pallet of Coors and Wonder Bread on board before I could land. I taxied and there was a line waiting for the new rations. I was SAC. Thank you for your service. For me, it was my greatest honor to serve this Great Nation! G-d Bless.
My God, the memories. I'm not an army guy but in 2008-2011, my dad was stationed there, so as a kid at the time I went to a bunch of places around the base including this one. I also remember when there was a playground where that Gamestop was.
Wonderful video man. I’m heading to JB elmendorf after I leave Airborne school in a few weeks so I’m looking at videos of what to expect. Great and informative vid. Thanks man
Andrews BX seems wayyy smaller than the one at Elmendorf. As far as food goes, there's only a taco bell, charley's, robin hood lemonade, and a pizza store. There was a Captain D's but last time I went it was closed. The BX isn't connected to the commisary, but you just walk past the parking lot to get there. They're adding an extension to the BX as far as I know with more food joints and stores and such. Not sure if it'll extend as far as connect to the commisary though. And there' a GNC too, haha.
You should visit the hand tram when it gets warmer. The hand tram is scary but fun lol if you go don't go alone. When I first visited Alaska I went in the winter, I was not use to "the sun coming up late and going down early". Then I came back the following summer it was even more beautiful but I was over seeing daylight at 11 at night.
+JellyBeanDean Yes, and I'm doing it actually! You can apply to be a state resident upon being stationed here, then after living here for 1 year, you can apply for what's called "Alaska Permanent Fund". You'll then get money each year that you actually live there
You receive an annual (1) check per year which can vary from $700 up to $2,000+/-. So in reality, nobody actually gets "paid" to live here. Have a good job in Alaska or more than one if you want to live comfortably. Cost of living is twice or more than the majority of the U.S.
hey man keep up the awesome videos i always get a laugh out of them you actually inspired me to make my first one.Would you be able to tell me what editing software you use?
On JB MDL the MPs get all mad when you put your hand over your heart while under a surface during retreat. At the commissary, retreat was playing then the national anthem and my dad and I were standing under the I guess cover outside the commissary and an MP that just got off duty walked passed us all pissed of and said, "Get your hands off your hearts, we're under garrison." or something like that. Then of course my dad was about to rip him a new ass hole when I guess he remembered officers 'set the tone' as he put it.
Hey wildblueyonder, been up here in Alaska since 2001(dad got lucky and was able to get a few follow ons) I am strongly considering joining the air force and would like to talk to you more in depth, let me know if that's a possibility
When your told to pick a locker and bed in zero week, which bed or beds are the best ones to choose in your opinion? Because I know having the bed by the bathroom sucks and being on a top bunk sucks too lol
+kouyo kato Lol just pick a bed you won't have time to figure it out anyways. They usually tell you to go to the back and fill in the beds until you get to the front
Retreat, one thing I regret after getting out was Retreat ducking., finding a reason to go indoors during retreat. It seemed like such a hassle then but such an honor now.
I wouldn't mind meeting a nice Air Force guy, I am in the Army now been in two and a half years. Army chow house is mighty good. I don't want to live in Alaska, Texas or Georgia is mighty fine with me. The Air Force guy making this movie is good looking
i have a question, being a single airman i was wondering how long you have to wait until you can move out of the dorms and maybe rent an apartment or house on or off base?
+TheNevertaco Whenever you make senior airman or get married. That's pretty much it. They also have an option where, if by some miracle, the dorms are above 90% capacity, they'll start moving out A1Cs. But that never happens :(
So would you say shopping at normal civilian stores like (target, walmart, supermarkets etc.) is better than shopping at the BX and Commissary -as far as prices are concerned? or is the BX and Commissary better because its tax free (from what I've heard).
+CoCo F Well because on base it's tax free, occasionally you'll find things much cheaper, and it's rarely crowded (except on the weekends) I prefer to shop on base, but sometimes you just want to go to Target because it's not on base lol
+Josh Malone You have to keep them in the armory, or wherever. You can't have a knife in your dorm over 3 inches. All the weapons have to be kept with security forces. Or something like that.
+WildBlueYonder thanks man I appreciate it! Another question lol. Do I absolutely need to have the first part of the airforce song and rank structure memorized before I get to basic? or will I be ok if I don't know it completely before I get there?
Would Alaska be considered a state side AFB? I want to say yes, due to Alaska being a United States territory. Just need another person's input to make sure.
It's a weird situation since it's not part of the continental United states, even though it is still part of the actual u.s. it's the same thing with Hawaii.
Light bulb shipments for fertilizer to grow cotton ...to restock our trade for commerce and marine conservation it's Anchorage that's why we're here I wouldn't steer y'all the wrong way...
I don't think we need to expend any troops over an unethical practice....until this is over did I ever tell you about the vampires of stockeed.... Be wary You know why the commisary is fresh everywhere..... We're the guys... Who doesn't enjoy smoked sardines or tropical vacations.... Hey I'll sign you up but make sure to come back in one piece aight 😎👉🏻
At the 2:10 mark; you better put the camera down. If someone sees you its your 'assets'. I saw this happen once at Ft. Wainwright where someone didn't salute the Flag and by happenstance the division deputy commander saw and it was not pretty for the stupid ass.
Great video brother the rec center would be a good video to watch the pool on base is amazing 👏 stay safe thanks for sharing with all of us
Just found out I got orders to JBER and now I'm lurking all your videos. Good stuff man
been to JBER several times and it's actually a pretty nice base...family stationed there...
Not sure how I came upon your channel but it was so awesome to see you out the camera down, put your hand over your heart in respect for the national anthem …i hope you are doing well. Bless you
Your videos of Minot made me want to list it and now I want to list Alaska haha. Maybe you're just a positive guy and make everything seem fun
a better word for "Positive" in this context would be Optimistic. Not being an ass hole just pointing something out
Excellent video. Helpful. My grandson arrives 1 week. First permanent base. I feel good about it now. He is airman first class. Now to see what a dorm looks like
Oh man 🥹 we just PCSd to Vandy after living in Anchorage for 4 years. I miss it so much!!!!
Thank you for taking that pause - for all of those who served prior.
I had to land my B52 in the UK coming from the States. The Tower asked if I had a pallet of Coors and Wonder Bread on board before I could land. ngl, i having one as well. My dad was stationed there too back in 2016 to 18. But now i'm in japan.
Same, from 2007-2011.
i was in the AF in the early 90's. You guys facilities are top notch compared to what we had back in those days.
Nice video man! Looking at PCSing to Alaska.
Wonderful video man. I’m heading to JB elmendorf after I leave Airborne school in a few weeks so I’m looking at videos of what to expect. Great and informative vid. Thanks man
Thank you I was born there and I only lived there for 1 year I wish I could go back
The prices are better than Walmart in Anchorage
Nice video! Thank you for your service!
Do they still have the penny roller? I remembered that most as a kid.
another Air Force youtuber, Kyle Gott, was at Elmendorf few months ago actually. the gym there looks legit.
Thank you i appretiate your videos.i always wonder about visiting alaska. Does the base have much for a tdy housing or family visit quarters

+Jaamiya Franklin What exactly is a hand tram? lol
Its like a steel cage over a river and you have to pull yourself to get to the other side of the trail. It's scary at first, but a cool experience.
Oh cool
My next duty station I wish I would be in Fort Polk or Fort Hood no more Alaska for me
Love your videos man! Makes me more motivated on enlisting in air force
just wondering what are vacations like? What are discounts like for traveling for vacation and stuff? thanks!!!
See I contacted Mike Dunleavy... definitely review the board.....
its not just alaska, 430pm in nyc is also getting dark in the winter
I like these kind of videos where you show your base!
I remember when i use to live up there, pretty fun. ran into a moose once.
I was in USAF 66-70 overseas and states. Your facilities are way better than what we had. Quit complaining😀😂 thanks for serving.👌💯🇺🇸🗽
me seeing a GameStop: *laughs in 2021*
Is it true you get payed to live in Alaska? Like, from the state government?
+JellyBeanDean Yes, and I'm doing it actually! You can apply to be a state resident upon being stationed here, then after living here for 1 year, you can apply for what's called "Alaska Permanent Fund". You'll then get money each year that you actually live there
+WildBlueYonder how much do you get paid?
It's like $1,000 per person in your family. If it's just you, then it's just about $1,000
You receive an annual (1) check per year which can vary from $700 up to $2,000+/-. So in reality, nobody actually gets "paid" to live here. Have a good job in Alaska or more than one if you want to live comfortably. Cost of living is twice or more than the majority of the U.S.

+youngairmen Thanks for watching! And I use Wondershare
Pshhh. This is by far the best PX/Commissary I have ever been too! 2009-2013!
can you please make a video on the structure of the air force, flight, wing, squadron.
Thanks for uploading. Really interesting.
Dude, I saw no BEER!

Where is this base at
i guess it was 1630 when that song came on. but lat time i was there if u was in the comissary u dint have to stop what u was doing
Does the commissary sell vegan protein powder? Great vid btw
Could you do a video on pets in the Air Force?
How is the application coming?
When your told to pick a locker and bed in zero week, which bed or beds are the best ones to choose in your opinion? Because I know having the bed by the bathroom sucks and being on a top bunk sucks too lol
+kouyo kato Lol just pick a bed you won't have time to figure it out anyways. They usually tell you to go to the back and fill in the beds until you get to the front
that was the best, totally took me off guard 2:10
Retreat, one thing I regret after getting out was Retreat ducking., finding a reason to go indoors during retreat. It seemed like such a hassle then but such an honor now.
7:00 am would be like midnight I remember
Can you possibly do a small tour of the base?
+Cheyenne Williams Sorry I can't :/ Most areas on base are off limits to be recorded, and even more so- published to UA-cam.. Sorry!
+WildBlueYonder: I totally understand. thanks. (:
I'm so astounded that they have a gamestop on base lol, even though bases pretty much have everything now but that is so cool
Commissary looks like the size of a Sam's Warehouse; gianormous, dude.
Nice tour!
What if you don't have a car?? How will you get around??
Suzanne Miles thanks for the help
This was a great video. Thank you. I just wish your camera wouldn't lose focus so often. out off your control, I get it. You're the best though ;)
I'd love to know what camera you used to record this. I head to Alaska after I graduate from AIT
I wouldn't mind meeting a nice Air Force guy, I am in the Army now been in two and a half years. Army chow house is mighty good. I don't want to live in Alaska, Texas or Georgia is mighty fine with me. The Air Force guy making this movie is good looking

+Fragnition & Friends! thanks for watching! :D
i have a question, being a single airman i was wondering how long you have to wait until you can move out of the dorms and maybe rent an apartment or house on or off base?
+TheNevertaco You have to wait until you're a Senior Airman I believe
+TheNevertaco Whenever you make senior airman or get married. That's pretty much it. They also have an option where, if by some miracle, the dorms are above 90% capacity, they'll start moving out A1Cs. But that never happens :(
Nah. You only have to be an E-4
Now- In the army, you have to be like an E-6 before you gotta move out smh
I was born there
Doesn’t the military try to make up for the extra cost due to where they stationed you? Is that added somewhere else in your pay?
So would you say shopping at normal civilian stores like (target, walmart, supermarkets etc.) is better than shopping at the BX and Commissary -as far as prices are concerned? or is the BX and Commissary better because its tax free (from what I've heard).

The BX is a FOR PROFIT store. As for GNC, welcome to "Generica" every base looks the same!
Just left jber and pcs’d to Minot 😂😂😭😭😭😭 I miss jber!!
Know anything about owning personal guns and keeping them in the dorms? Or do you half to keep them off base.
+Josh Malone That video is coming soon! :D
Awesome man! I ship out January 5th and I like to shoot regularly and hunt a little so I'm definitely curious! :)
+Josh Malone You have to keep them in the armory, or wherever. You can't have a knife in your dorm over 3 inches. All the weapons have to be kept with security forces. Or something like that.
pretty much if you live in the dorms. If you live anywhere else, you can keep it
+WildBlueYonder thanks man I appreciate it! Another question lol. Do I absolutely need to have the first part of the airforce song and rank structure memorized before I get to basic? or will I be ok if I don't know it completely before I get there?
can you order from amazon and online sites at military bases?
+Kirstan Lin Yes!
prices bro
Why Not Minot? BTDT
Would Alaska be considered a state side AFB? I want to say yes, due to Alaska being a United States territory. Just need another person's input to make sure.
well it's a state so... yes state side
Its considered overseas
It's a weird situation since it's not part of the continental United states, even though it is still part of the actual u.s. it's the same thing with Hawaii.
Well it's a joint base your like 5mins away from my house lol. This vid is so weird being so close to the bx/px commissary.
I heard the BX does price match on all electronics is that true?
+Adam Peterson I haven't heard of it, but maybe?
Yeah all price match;)
Sweet memories.
Try walking over to the Food Court at the Exchange then you might be able to meet me
Is it true that the food at the commissary is tax free? Or is my recruiter just blowing smoke?
+tylermoon79 It's tax free
+WildBlueYonder thanks man! I love your videos! They are very informative. I am planning on joining soon.
Thanks for watching!
The commissary is supposed to be cheaper…. But being In Alaska
Even though I'm retired an use a powerchair I HAVE to stand at attention. Military Bearing?
please make a Gym tour!! btw nice video
+chocki boogie Just letting you know, Kyle Gott did a gym tour of it already on his channel.
Ok thanks
Thanks for making a commissary/ bx tour video. Keep up the good work. My question for you is, where do you send your uniforms for cleaning?
+QPW311 I just wash my uniforms in the washing machine/drier. They don't need anything special. But if you want, you can dry clean them
LOL< those tv prices really arent bad at all.
I love that you are in Alaska. I know exactly where all these places are because I live here and visit them all the time. Your videos are very helpful
5:30 in socal it's dark
random question, when's your birthday?
+Destiny Jones August 13 :p send money and cookies please
+WildBlueYonder Thanks! I just wanted to know your sign lol. Is there a P.O box because I will! Love your channel :)
Aw thanks for watching! And oh noo, I don't actually have one!
+WildBlueYonder You need to get one so we can send you unnecessary things!
I should. I might.. lol
Light bulb shipments for fertilizer to grow cotton ...to restock our trade for commerce and marine conservation it's Anchorage that's why we're here I wouldn't steer y'all the wrong way...
The BX is nothing like Kmart. Kmart is dingy & doesn't have name brands.... Lol but I love your videos.
Maryland all day
Is this place for the whole base or is there one over on the Army side?
+Tim Hirst There is only one for both sides
+WildBlueYonder Thanks
Everything at the exchange is expensive but tax free
kmart does not sell NIKE or Estee Lauder...lol
Everything is tax free?
Thats a motherfuckin publix
Can you agree though that probably the only good thing about Minot AFB is the Popeyes
I don't think we need to expend any troops over an unethical practice....until this is over did I ever tell you about the vampires of stockeed....
Be wary
You know why the commisary is fresh everywhere..... We're the guys... Who doesn't enjoy smoked sardines or tropical vacations.... Hey I'll sign you up but make sure to come back in one piece aight
😎👉🏻

2:20 Lmao
not all bxs have a game stop my base took it out
That sucks :(
Not really had you fooled I am Army not Air Force
Lost in Generica!
he seems like He's bored with Alaska !
+Tylik Williams I guess it does seem like I complain a lot in this video.. lol but I actually like it here and am having a good time
Your BX is nicer than the BX at barksdale
scott wheeler How is Barksdale??
Floridas commissary is not like that
Minot is pronounced "me-know". It's French. Do you also say Porsche without pronouncing the "e" on the end? It's "Porsh-uh".
"CBD Inhalant" what ever the hell CBD actually is You Dig!?! 👉🏻
That definitely wasn’t the national anthem.
opsec
