  • In part 2 of the Android tag test it has been secretly hidden to simulate the search for a stolen bike. How close can the tracking app get me to the hidden tag? Is it accurate enough to locate and home in on your pride and joy? You decide.

The actual finding took about 20 minutes, so not as fast as it appeared in the video. Also, if the bike was deep inside a building it might not be picked up on the close-up tracker. But for £22 it’s worth having as it should help in most situations.

That’s a great new horn you’ve fitted. Sound’s automatically when you brake. Can you do a review? 😎

Thank you, Keith, very kind. I made this follow up, which is a range test. Boost Bike Range Test - Did it perform as they claimed it would?

It seems that your tracker worked pretty well. I have a friend who just purchased a new folding ebike at Thanksgiving. He currently lives out of state but said he'd bring the bike when he visits in February so we could ride together. I might mention this tracker to him as ebikes are such a target for thieves.
I am a bit concerned that I'll be too slow for him but I'm sure we'll work it out. Maybe the smaller wheels on his bike will help even things out a bit.
Was the weather contributing to your 'musical' brakes? 😅
Don't feel bad about not getting that clue, Roy. I defy anyone to honestly say they figured it out. Talk about being obscure! 🤯
If Mike wants a long journey, he could come here across the Pond and ride the coast-to-coast TransAmerica Bike Trail. A 3000 mile distance which was opened in 1976 to help celebrate our bicentennial. I've never ridden it but it is quite popular with those riders who have the pioneering spirit.
Have a happy and safe New Year. 😊🎉

Sad that we have to think like that, Linda, but that’s the way of the world. The tracker is a last resort as a good lock needs to be the first line of defence. At least with a folding bike he can take it inside when possible. Yes, the musical brakes are normal with disc brakes when they get wet - but it saves on having a bell when coming up behind walkers 🙂

I purposely left that clip in for all to see. I find most truck drivers to be courteous.

Wondering how the tracker can be hidden on a bike.

I have mine in a small bag of spare parts. I doubt any but a serious thief would find it there. Another option would be to epoxy it under bottle carrier, as long as the battery can be changed.

my first thought (more a feeling actually) was a grim body-memory of 'English weather'. wouldn't have been nearly as grim had you not been in urban environs of course.

They don’t need looking at, it’s just what happens when they get wet. At least people can hear me coming 😀

Yes, it happens when the disks get wet 😀 They dry out quickly with heat build up but it was raining a lot that day.
