Love Feyd’s reaction to Paul taking control and then using The Voice. Underneath it all, Feyd deeply respected Paul. Feyd valued strength above all, and he saw in Paul the one man who could challenge him - and challenge him he did.
Feyd was sooo much better in the movie. In the books, he’s just some psychopath cheater. In the movie, he’s certainly a psychopath yet recognizes and respects power, and loves a fair challenge.
@@nickg4267 From what I understand so far in the book, Book Feyd is supposed to be an even darker reflection of the person Paul became. That said, I do like what I've seen of both versions and I think part of why Movie Feyd is more honorable is because it's more appealing to have honorable villains these days.
I say this having not finished Dune, just reading a lot about it, so take my words with a pinch of salt

Gotta love how the entire environment for Paul’s ascension into living godhood was extremely reminiscent of the ancient Middle East, and is really Abrahamic in its overall social structure vibe- so the story becomes extremely believable in this setting. The horrible living conditions, the oppression from more advanced and provisioned fighting forces (that squash the Fremen under their bootheel while robbing Dune of all the natural resources- even giving the planet their OWN name of Arrakis,) the Fremens’ subsequent proclivity to giving way to Messianic figures and embracing warlike fanaticism around those figures? (Think Joshua, Moses, Jesus, Mohammad, all of them?)
Ya gotta admit, Dune is a pretty riveting allegorical critique of the Abrahamic religions in that regard… and not just one of the Abrahamic religions, ALL of them.
Ikr it wasn't just me who was drawing connections. Dune's story is a lot reminiscent of the Abrahamic religions, the whole prophet thing the desert even the spice is a lot like petrol/diesel of modern times. Can't wait for part 2!!
