- Hello everyone and Welcome back to the channel!
Today I fished the River Itchen in Southampton in the hopes of a Bass or Flounder!
I ventured out in the morning and fished the entire day doing a livestream in the evening. We spent 3 hours or so not even getting a bite and then finally BANG! We got slack lined by my new PB Bass! What an absolutely amazing moment and as you can see, I was over the moon!
Shortly after that I managed to somehow catch a very elusive Flounder as well on a 3/0 hook which is absolutely insane! Flounders in this area are rather rare but catching one on a 3/0 is probably unheard of!
This is a spot that I plan to frequent quite often as recently it has been throwing up a good amount of bass & occasionally has been known to behold double figure bass!

Well done Matt, lovely Bass and a flounder. Flounders used to be so common in Portsmouth Harbour years ago.

It seems the days off flounder of 3lb 4lb are long gone ! Even the days off 10 flounder all over 2lb .. but the way it's going in a few years we will be having bream around all year

@@FishingwithMattUK Matt it was only 30 years ago they were so plentiful! Also well done with the bass ! I swear the bass after spawning go far inland in brackish water to clean themselves off parasites or head straight back out to sea .

Well done matt plenty of bass off there get quite a few double figure bass there i spin for bass there had them up to six pound on the lures.
Cheers Gary mate! I’d love to get my first double figure and it could come from down here to be fair! I will come back and do some lure fishing at some point
Another good spot for bass is town quay catch a pout and freeline it straight down side of quay at low water at night my pb came from there 8lb 4oz mate of mine had a 13lber there there are bigger bass there.

Hello sea bass hunter mate 👊👊 Unfortunately in the excitement I only weighed it! Will get a length next time but it was a nice chunky bass
That boatyard is where most the Shirly Boat fishing club keep there boats.Bills tackle Bill will tell you more,i think he uses it.i nearly lost my 14foot rod over the opposite slipway,must of been a Bass on low tide,luckily it came off.not often id be glad a fish got away!!
Crazy mate! I’ve set off with my sib from the opposite side. Maybe I will try that side next! It will save me a 5 minute journey and £1 from the bridge! 😂😎

@@FishingwithMattUK I fish down these marks quite often with my brother.weve probably been there at same time at some point as its normaly friday nights.we love the spots where you can fish from car this time of year 👍
