Groundhog Day: The Musical Speedpaint -- "Seeing You"

Here’s that big speedpaint I promised. I made this to commemorate this amazing, heart-moving musical before it closes September 17th.
Let me try not to get too emotional and sappy over a musical comedy.
So, to put it simply, I love Groundhog Day: The Musical. To put it less simply:
Groundhog Day has become a big staple of my summer. I’ve loved the movie since I was a kid so when I first found out there was a musical version I was curious but not completely open to the idea. I didn’t really think anything could compete with the movie. I forgot about it for a day or two before the drag of summer came into play and I decided to give the soundtrack a listen. What I found was a musical with so much heart, meaning, and comedy rolled into it that moved me to tears by the end. I had fallen in love with yet another musical, except this time it was different from the rest. After dozens of listens I began to take the life lessons and philosophical messages to heart and grew an emotional connection with GHD that I had never felt with any musicals prior. This musical is special and shines in its own special way, yet goes unnoticed by the majority, which ultimately led to it being forced to close. It breaks my heart to see such an incredible musical end like this, especially before I could ever see it, but I am nevertheless happy to have had it part of my life. On gloomy days I could always tune in to the soundtrack for a good hour of laughter, and it did help me get through some stressful moments. After so much personal dedication to it over these past three months I really do feel changed by its message about what it takes to be a good person and how important it is to step back an examine your life and how you live it. I have reached some vital realizations of my own character and how I can improve my actions for the benefit of others while “obsessing” over this show, and I will be sure to apply them to the future.
Please, if you are in the New York area, I beg you to see this musical (at least let me live it through you vicariously hehe) while it’s still open. If you’re like me, and live nowhere near New York, do give the soundtrack a listen. Don’t skip a song. Don’t skip a beat. It is a fun and moving piece of art that should have lived longer than it did, and you can trust me on that.
So point to all of this is, thank you Groundhog Day, for being the best discovery of my summer. #championsadjust
