Dark Acedemia if your walls are dark, Light Academia if your walls are light, but the furniture usually remains dark and Victorian. I love it!
Wow I've never heard of light academia. Thank you for sharing that
OMG yes please share everything you learned, you’re so relatable and down to earth. So happy to see how well it’s working for you!
Thank you Maria
You can't put out videos fast enough!! I could watch your channel all day!! Love love love your channel!!
So happy for you that your hubby is helping full time and going to college. Great career choice for him.
Congratulations on the booth doing well and would enjoy hearing more about it. Take care and God bless you and yours.
You’ve said all I was going to say. I truly enjoy this channel and look forward to every single video. Great work.
Same
Thank you all so much, that truly means so much to us!
I really respect the fact that you are natural and not fake, the hole in your T-shirt is, something you don't care about! You Americans are great and have a very good mindset! You are modest people like you and appreciate your way of thinking!
Thank you. Where are you from?
@@DesertDIY you are welcome, l am from Algeria. A country in north Africa.
So glad your booth is doing so well that you had to expand. You deserve it after all the hard work you and your husband have put in. Your pieces are beautiful.
Thank you so much!
Oh my! I just found you today and I’m learning a lot! I have an old hutch and a matching dining set that I’m planning to get rid off sometime. This will be a fun project, I think I can restore it. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yay! Let me know how it turns out
You are one of my all time DIY'er. So down to earth and not trying to sell products and paints to make money.
You use products that are available to everyone and in their budget.
I am very interested in hearing the details of your booth journey. I am looking into that option in the near future. I have been an eBay reseller for a very long time and am looking for other options.
Thank you in advance!
Thank you so much! I've always been curious about selling on ebay! Maybe we can share advice with one another
@@DesertDIY Sounds like a plan! Always happy to share information!
You always have impeccable, great taste in items. You are truly an inspiration.
Wow! Thank you so much Nancy! That is a huge compliment.
I actually liked the little fully furnished showroom in the beginning of video, reminded me of a little Victorian room. Full of lots of items from all over.
I am so glad to hear that!
I love the table and hutch makeover. You are so very talented. I can see that your husband is also. I would love to come to your booth. I pray that your business prospers greatly. Love watching
Thank you! Yes he is SO handy with ANYTHING. I love that so much about him. He is so smart. We would love it if you got a chance to visit our shop!
Love what you and your husband create ❤
Thank you Rita!
Congratulations on your new business. I wish you much success!
Thank you so much Karen!
New follower! I loved this content. I’m a booth owner but I have never tackled a large piece because of lack of confidence and lack of workspace. I loved everything you created. ❤❤❤
I am so glad you are here! Thank you for subscribing! I think its important to do a couple large pieces each month. They will bring in your biggest profit even if they don't sell as fast as the smalls.
OMG ! I’ve been following you for several years. I live in Kingwood and flip furniture too ! I go to the place you are selling your furniture. I will for sure go there this week and check out your booth. 😅
How cool is that!!!!! What a small world it is. Let me know what you think of it! Thank you so much for watching
Would love a video about how you got started, learning curves n such. Your booth looks amazing.
Thank you Georgie! I will try and add in that information into my future videos.
So glad I found your Channel. My mother used to recover and refurbish furniture. I never got the bug. But I wish I had. My favorite piece in her home was a piece she bought for $50. It was a sleigh bed, with this beautiful dresser with mirror that had built in shelves and a chest of drawers. She got help from the marines at cherry point NC to refinish it and someone offered her $2000 for it. She passed before she could sell it but she had the eye and an artistic flair just as you do. I'm glad you can make a living with your passion.
You mom sounds like a treasure. How cool is it that the Marines helped her out. My husband and I are USMC veterans. Maybe you can try out a small project in honor of your crafty mama.
Very very impressive makeovers!!! Your prices are great too!! Your reputation and craftsmanship will serve you well in your newest endeavor!! Best wishes for your continued success. Would love to hear more about your business plan. Also how you find pieces and what specifically you look for in a piece of furniture to makeover.
Congratulations on your husband going back to school and your success in your business endeavors! Love watching your videos!
Thank you so much!
Everything turned out beautiful as always, Cory! I wish you all the best with your new business; this booth is super cool. :)
Thank you so much Bella
You and your husband are so vary good with money! And so vary smart!
I will watch all the way. Your future is bright and I want to see it unfold!!!
Thank you!
New subscriber! I “stumbled” on finding your channel not too long ago. Very elegant pieces with a timeless feel.
Thank you so much Terry! I am glad you're here
Love your honesty and how detailed you are in explaining how you go about a project.
Thank you Marlene I am so glad you enjoy my commentary
Beautiful as always.
Thank you Mary
Yes please give us some hints for running a successful booth. Your work is so pleasing and listening to your voice so calming. Thanks for sharing your talent and your hard work with us.
Thank you Connie! I'll be sure to share more tips in my future videos
Such beautiful makeovers. Would love to hear more about how you do business thanks 🌷
Your booth looks so great. I’m sure you will be a success. I didn’t realize how good the enamel paint can look.
Thank you!
I loved this episode. I have an antique small chest of drawers that needs to be re-done. I have been procrastinating for a couple of years. Since I am 76, I think it’s time to JUST DO IT. This winter Is the right time. Thanks Sweetie.
Yes! You got this!
Congrats on your booth! Looks Great! Best Wishes!
Thank you so much Janet
Congratulations on the next chapter on your furniture biz! I look forward to your upcoming videos.
Thank you!
Love your booth Cory!! So glad you are doing so well! Much success to you! So glad you’re doing so well!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much Kim! I'm so glad you like it!
Beautiful make overs. Thanks for sharing, Corie 🧡
Thank you so much Gina!
@@DesertDIY you’re so welcome, Corie
Yes! I would love to know more about making money doing something I love.
Love the table
I am so happy for you
Thank you so much Dianna that means a lot!
Great flip as always. What a good idea on starting your own business, wishing you and your husband much success ..❤
Thank you so much Kathryn
I luv your booth! I have sold 3 pieces of furniture out of mine so far. The ladies always say go with lots of smalls in your booths at xmas. To help pay for booth fees. I had to up my game on making pottery pieces for that. I started the same too. Small little spot, then was asked if I wanted a larger one in about 3 weeks so I took it. Time will tell if I stay, 300 bucks a month is pretty heavy! Keep up the good work guys, looking fabulous!!
That is what my rent is also Dar. But it is a good value considering you don't have to be the cashier for your own things like you would at an antique market. Yay for selling 3 pieces! The key to selling more is to advertise on facebook as much as possible in local business groups and on facebook marketplace. The majority of my large sales have been from me postings items from my booth up for sale on marketplace and giving instructions for the buyer to buy it from my booth.
@@DesertDIY yes, that is what I have been doing on marketplace. But, I am not consistent so far. Not enough darn time!
Yes, I would love to hear more about starting your own business. Looking to do something like that, but have not much of an idea on how to do it. Or where to look for such a spot. Thank you.
Great! I will talk more about it in upcoming videos for you
Congrats on your new booth! Love the dining set you flipped :-D
Thank you so much
Your prices are VERY reasonable. Especially since it's real wood and beautifully finished. Well done!
Thank you so much Lois! I try to make sure that I am fair and affordable.
Beautiful projects, gorgeous! If the table and chairs haven’t sold, put a before picture with it, great job!
I love it, I couldn't stop petting the table. ❤❤❤❤ That's when u know you have a great finish. Tons of hard work. I love that you all are working together. Warms my heart.
Thank you so much Charlotte!
I moved into a small apartment and left the majority of my things in storage. I have only my pieces of furniture that I need to upgrade with refinishing/painting. I have a dining room table 4 chairs and two side tables next to my bed to work on. My goal is to have them finished before Christmas!
I'm going to do something similar to what you have done with your pieces. They are timeless!
Thank you Karen. I think that will be wonderful to spruce up your new place in time for xmas.
Just found your channel, you are amazing, always wanted to have a small business like this one. You have inspired me so much. I’ll be so thankful for all the information that you can provide ❤
Thank you! I'll be sure to give more info in future videos
Everything looks wonderful, and congratulations on your beautiful booth!
Thank you so much Diane
*CONGRATULATIONS on your success, Cory❣️🙂*

Everything looks beautiful!💖
Thank you Gail
Wow, simply gorgeous.
Well done , it’s amazing the difference you’ve made.
I love the booth! I’ve been watching you for awhile and love what you do! Good luck with your booth and everything in your lives!
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me I really appreciate it
Beautiful work! I’m glad your business is thriving. ♥️
Thank you so much Michele
You have grown over the years and I’ve enjoyed watching. Why wouldn’t you do a show on making a business? 😊. Keep up the good work !
Thank you so much! I'll be sure to give some tips in my upcoming videos
That table is gorgeous 😍
Thank you
The makeovers were beautiful! I'm so glad your husband is able to help you while attending college. Best of luck with your booth and best of luck to your husband with his studies.
Thank you so much Vicki.
I caught the last little while of the video premiere! Thank you for allowing me to entertain you with my redonkulous, immature humor. Making people laugh, it's what I live for! YES CORY! Please do a video about leasing a booth, and all the components that go along with it pretty please! Dont forgot to dot your "T's" and cross your "I's"! (Haha!) EVERYONE on UA-cam over glamorize their "lifestyle situations". So its hard to believe alot of what your seeing, and being told. I'm so tired of click bait! Ugh! But you don't roll that way. You're a very genuine, sincere, down to earth person. I respect and appreciate that. With that being said, I would definitely feel comfortable accepting business advice from you! I would love to hear all the deets, the good, the bad, the nitty gritty of it all! BRING IT ON SISTER!! ❤❤❤
You are such a treasure!
Yes please, I would very much like to hear more about starting a business like you have.
I'll be sure to share more soon
Gorgeous and congrats on your booth!
Yes, would love to hear more about your booth business!
I'll be sure to share more
Always a joy to listen and watch your videos. You are as such an inspiration to me!! Best of luck in your new venture. The booth and all of your content look amazing!!
Thanks for sharing,
Karla from Kansas
Thank you so much Karla I really appreciate you
Ive seen so many dinning room chairs like those & would wonder what do ppl do when they tear up!😮 Love what you did to the furniture ❤
Thank you!
I have the same table. I bought it when it was new. I’ve been wanting to refinish it for some time. I’ve just been hesitant out of fear of screwing it up and also unsure of what color to paint the bottom. I know I want the top to be light like yours so thank you for showing how you did this. I feel a little more at ease to take the jump because you made it look so easy. Wish me luck.
Hi Lisa! I think its always best to do white first since it takes more coats to cover a dark color than it does white if you change your mind. Plus, white is a perfect primer color for other colors. I think you'll be so happy with whatever color you choose. And if you dont like it a couple years down the road you can always change it up again because it's solid wood and can be refinished a billion times.
Well done congratulations on your new business venture your booth will be a great success all the furniture and home decor you have for sale are so unique 😍
Thank you so much Beverley
The pull-out desk makes that piece a self contained office. Whoever snapped that up for less than 5 bills is a savvy shopper. People with smaller spaces, which is also popular/necessary now, are looking for furniture to pull double duty. You could have priced that higher and still sold quickly. Nice flip.
Thank you!
Great video! Please share more on the business side of flipping furniture.
You really transformed those pieces.....they turned out great! I did almost the same to mine. Your table may be older than you think, as mine is almost identical and belonged to my late husband's grand parents. It was bought "used" by them around the early 1900's. Mine also has a leaf to make it a bit longer.
Thank you Ellie! That style table can be hard to accurately date because they made that style from the early 1900s all the way to current times.
Enjoy your videos, thank you. Would enjoy learning about your business journey in upcoming videos.
Well done, You Two & Crew!
Thank you Lydia
Its amazing how you transform these pieces. Ive ALWAYS loved antiques. Even when nobody did. There a history that emanates from them. Its like a peek into the past.
Id love to find out more about how to make a business out of flipping and selling antiques.
Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you!I feel the exact same way about antiques. I'll be sure to share more tips in my next videos
@@DesertDIY thank you!
That was gorgeous!
Love your furniture flips! I flip as well and every piece in our home is either reclaimed or up cycled real wood only. The old antique style that’s trending is Colonial.
Oh yes very true, I have seen a lot of colonial styled pieces in social media
Fantastic tips and projects! Thanks for the advice😊
Thank you Marilyn! I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed the video
These flips turned out so nice. I have an oval oak kitchen table. Ive been wanting to paint it forever. My husband really doesn't want me to. Give me time...I WILL WIN!!!
Thrifting is great I love it .
Plus it stops all the items going into landfill .
Win win situation all around
I agree
Your projects always turn out so nice. The hutch and dining set looks better than anything I’ve seen in furniture stores. My dining set is mahogany and cherry. I know it’s not the style now but it’s better quality then the furniture being sold today. I also have a beautiful secretary in the same woods. All the pieces are reproductions but they are all from the late 70’s early 80’s. I guess it could be grandma decor style
Thank you Patricia! I think all that matters is that you love it and it's good quality
I would love to know more about your business. I had an antiques booth locally until COVID sent everything to Hell, and I'm very curious about how savvy younger folks manage to stay on top of the market. Your booth is beautiful!
Adding adjustable feet to the table is a brilliant move. Not only can the table be uneven (as well as floors), but antique tables are actually shorter.
I've also noticed that dining chairs even from the 1960s are just a tad shorter than today's chairs. I solve that by adding thick felt pads to the chair feet. I love my 1960s solid walnut Chippendale-style chairs. They're much better quality than the 1990s Indonesian-made mahogany ones (same style) I mix them with.
All the furniture from today's video looks awesome!
Thank you so much Charlene!
Absolutely gorgeous!!
Thank you Teresa
I have a round dining table similar to the one in this video. It is in great condition but needs the top sanded down and refinished. I am anxious to get started. I got it and an antique sideboard type piece from a neighbor's garage sale.
That's the beauty of solid wood pieces. They can be fixed
Great job!!! Everything looks so nice. The hutch is my favorite ❤️
Thank you Laura
@@DesertDIY You are so talented.
I think the new look is called dark academia
I think you might be right
I definitely would like to know more about building a successful business ❤
Thanks for sharing this! Everything looks amazing! I definitely would like to know more about the business side! 💯❣️
Thank you Julia! I'll be sure to share more in my next videos
Loved the video and am so happy to hear that you are expanding. I am interested in the fabrics on the chair seats.
Thank you! The fabric is from hobby lobby
Beautiful make overs, well done !
Thank you Ester
Wait … I thought y’all were in Nevada or Utah … did I miss something somewhere??? But the table is gorgeous and I am having a fireplace built NOW. The slab is cedar and wants to pull pink that I don’t like and I KNOW it will orange… will this same watered white then taupe work for cedar? Love hearing your success and working together! I know yall will do GREAT!
I love it. I just love black on furniture.
Your booth looks amazing!!
Thank you so much Angela that means a lot to me
I'm learning so much by watching your videos. Thank you!
I am so happy to hear that! Yay!
I agree about thrifting, my Granddaughter (26) refuses to wear anything new. If it's not thrifted, she doesn't want it. We have wonderful shopping days and my wallet thanks her! I feel the same about furniture, I bought a home a few years ago and needed to get it furnished asap so I bought a lot of new things from Wayfair, they are all such garbage.....slowing replacing with real wood thrifted items. Thanks for the guidance!
Your granddaughter is a smart cookie! I think it is so amazing that you go thrifting together. I love that. Wayfair furniture is "fast furniture" and not of a quality to last for a long time. You are right to change them out
As usual an awesome video and job! Love the pieces! Congratulations on your booth, it looks amazing! Hope your sales excell way beyond your expectations! 😊❤
Thank you so much Pam. I sure hope so too
Personally I prefer antique and vintage furniture pieces instead of new stuff. I also don’t like for everything to match and different woods and finishes are much more appealing to me. I also prefer the original finish so I use restore a finish. Your chairs and table looked great and the hutch
Thank you Angela! I think original finishes and mix matching can be cool too
I love shopping thrifted items bc they are way more unique, and interesting and the prices are reasonable. I bring my friends to my favorite thrift store in my neighborhood in NYC and they typically will by 5-10 items of clothing.
It’s also a great way to try a new look and see if it’s something that I really like.
That's a great point
Really nice redo's. Yes, please share how you do a booth. Thanks!
Thank you! I'm excited to share more
Congrats on the success of your new business! I would love to hear all the details!
I am so happy Oak is back. I have lots of oak furniture from the past. I was never one to paint oak wood, but it turned out great!
I am 66 and have always thrifted.
I am glad, too, because there is a lot of oak out there that needs some love!
I hope you’re not undercharging for all the labor and supplies you’re putting in! Beautiful work, I love your videos.
I do tend to under charge for my pieces because I try to consider what people can actually afford during current times. I need things to sell quickly since I am always creating more and more pieces on youtube.
I’m impressed! 🙂
Dark academia. Love your work, I don’t miss a video. ❤
Thank you so much Jenny!
Wow
Beautiful transformation
Thank you for sharing ❤️
I have used that toothpick trick and it really works!
So refreshing to see younger people with an appreciation for fixing old pieces made of real wood. Newer pieces made of real wood are way to high for the average families to buy, whereas it was the norm to buy well made pieces because classic items were passed down or sold on. Pretty soon all the crap that has been sold this past coupke of decades will come full circle and older real wood pieces will become a thing of greater value like a well built custom home that is stick built or vintage home vs the mass built crap developers slap up today. Our devotion to fast trends will come to bite us in the future.
I think you are so right
The hutch came out beautifully!❤ I’d love to get more info on the business end of things. I’m almost ready to start my youtube channel.🥰
How exciting Misty! I am happy to share more information in my upcoming videos.
Absolutely Beautiful
Thank you
Not sure of the “New” look but I call it Eclectic!! Ppl love all kinds of looks!!
That's true
